And to help you make a decision on where to go on holiday, we’ve picked out some really amazing destinations, including Portugal and Bulgaria, to name just a couple. Keep scrolling to find out our best value holiday destinations…

Madeira, Portugal

Portugal is really trendy right now. Take Madeira, for example, which is perfect for outdoorsy types. This place is the king of hiking trails thanks to its mountainous, lush landscape. We recommend tying up your shoe laces and following a levada walk. These trails leads you through waterfalls, river inlets and canals, so it’s really peaceful, and one of the most popular hikes among tourists.

A couple of hours’ hop south east of Madeira, you’ve got the Algarve. It’s most famous assets are its long ribbons of sand and first-rate golf courses, making it a great choice for families and sports lovers. We recommend heading to Albufeira, where the coastline totals a huge 20 kilometres, packing in 25 award-winning beaches. Fisherman’s Beach and Praia do Peneco are the stars of the show here – they both major in quirky seafront cafés, lively watersports, and plenty of room for stretching out to soak up those textbook coastline views.

Varna, Bulgaria

Have you heard about up-and-coming Varna? This seaside resort is nestled on the edge of Bulgaria’s north eastern coast, which means forests, thermal springs, and a long list of beaches are up for grabs. Plus, it’s one of our newest destinations for summer 2018, so you’ll be one of the first to explore all its glory.

Culture vultures are well-looked-after in Varna – there are plenty of historical sights to keep you busy here. Top of the list is the Aladzha Monastery, which was carved into a huge, limestone cliff by monks in the 13th century, so it’s really impressive. In fact, you can even go and see a light show there in the summer. You’ll have to climb up lots of steps to reach the top, but we promise the amazing views are worth it.

Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech is one of our best value holiday destinations for good reason. Holidays here combine sand and souks, culture and cuisine, as well as mountains and mosques – so it appeals to all types of travellers. Plus, the flight time totals four hours, so you’ll get there fast.

Marrakech was voted one of the best places to visit in 2017. We have a sneaky feeling it’s all thanks to those blush-coloured buildings, a bustling market scene and a whole load of quirky places to wine and dine. Plus, if you visit the Red City in October 2017, you might be one of the first visitors to step through the doors of the highly anticipated Yves Saint Laurent Museum. The gallery is dedicated to the late French fashion designer, and is based in Marrakech’s star attraction, Jardin Majorelle. It’s marked by stacks of cacti (the green-coloured plant filling up your Instagram feed) and dreamy sapphire-blue buildings.

Cancun, Mexico

Holidays to Cancun are nothing short of fun – just ask the four million holidaymakers that come here each year. This lively Mexican city sits on the Yucatan Peninsula, bordering the Caribbean Sea, so you can expect baby-blue waters and white sands at the drop of a sombrero. On top of that, you’ve also got access to world-class nightlife, taste bud tingling cuisine, and amazing historical sights, like Chichen Itza.

We think the best place to sample Cancun’s nightlife is Downtown, where a long list of first-rate restaurants, cocktail bars and cabaret shows will leave you spoiled for choice. Fancy a late one? No problem. Just make tracks for Boulevard Kukulcan, in the Hotel Zone, where super-clubs stay open ‘til the early hours of the morning. Wherever you end up, you can bet an early night is pretty unlikely…
