World Care Fund

Every time you book a holiday with us, you can make a donation to our World Care Fund. Every penny goes to our partners, The Travel Foundation and Climate Care, who run projects that support local people in holiday destinations and tackle climate change.

We have now raised over £1 million for the World Care Fund – thank you.

For holidays departing after May 2009, we'll ask for a donation of £1 per passenger (50p for children). We'll then match your contribution with another pound, and the money will be split between Climate Care and the Travel Foundation to support their projects – so together we'll make an even bigger difference.

The Travel Foundation is a charity caring for local communities in our favourite holiday destinations. The charity helps locals set up their own tourism businesses so that they can benefit from your visit.

With your donations, 550 Gambian farmers have been trained in supplying quality fresh produce to hotels; and, in Kenya's Enkereri Village, money made from their new tourism ventures has allowed Maasai villagers to pay for clean water and schooling.

Climate Care uses the money you give to fund carbon-offsetting projects, which means you're helping make up for the impact of your flight. This year, the money raised will help offset approximately 20% of our flights' carbon emissions.

In Zambia, our water power project is bringing clean energy to the village of Kalene, powering schools the local hospital.

The project not only helps to offset the emissions from your flight, but also allows others to benefit from renewable energy.

What's more, our Climate Care projects are being accredited by Gold Standard, an organisation that ensures that carbon-offsetting schemes are good for people as well as the environment.

Family Holidays Association

First Choice supports the Family Holiday Association (FHA), a small UK charity providing much needed holidays to disadvantaged families who would struggle to afford one on their own.

Blue Flag

Since 2000, we have supported and promoted the work of the Blue Flag Campaign run by the Federation for Environmental Education. The organisation awards a Blue Flag to beaches that meet its high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and environmental management.

Respect the Mountain campaign

We support The Ski Club of Great Britain's Respect the Mountain campaign, set up to encourage skiers and boarders to preserve the mountain environment. You can show your support by wearing the green Respect the Mountain wristband. All profits go towards a tree planting scheme and research project. NSPCC

Our overseas teams have supported the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) since 2004, raising over £130,000 in the past four years.

Local Charities

Our overseas teams have always supported local charities in destinations where they can, and in 2006 we made a formal commitment to actively seek out local charities to support in our developing world destinations.
