I recently stayed here from the 1st of may with my daughter who is 1 this is the best hotel we have ever been to. It's defiantly a family hotel as on random days they have a bouncy castle for the kids to enjoy. The food is great hotel staff are lovely and the rooms are very clean. Can not wait to return. More
Great family hotel, friendly staff, very well layout for families!
We are a family of 4 with 2 young children aged 5 and 7. This is a pretty late review as we stayed in Oct 2016. We read a lot of reviews about the hotel but decided to give it a try, we weren't disappointed! Hotel has a good kids club, our children love it and the staff are very friendly. We arrived the hotel about 11pm, at the reception, check in was smooth and they handed us packed dinner just in case we want it, a nice touch we thought! Hotel room is modern and very clean, very spacious! We loved the pool, its not heated but it's not freezing either in Oct, (we must say we were lucky as weather was sunny and warm all week during out stay) took a few mins to get used to once youre in, its a massive pool and we loved the fact that the shallow end is near the kids club and the playground which means you can relax and watch your kids playing! The team worked very hard, we enjoyed the entertainment, kids disco etc at night, food is great honestly, a lot of choices, its usual dining i would say, as some may put it as canteen style but thats the style that suits us, with 2 young children its great as we loved the fact that its causal, informal, we are on holidays! We went all inclusive thought the choices were good, you can get ice cream, burgers, hot dogs etc at snack time in the afternoon , theres a path leading to the lower level from the pool area so its great, no walking in and out , up and down to the cafe area. It really isn't that far to walk to the village of Alvor, took us 10mins top, its a lovely pleasant walk too, especially after a big meal, Alvor is quiet and lovely, we love it there, there is also a small supermarket just as you approach the village, you can get all the essentials. Overall, we must say we had a great holiday in Alvor Baia, we will definitely return to this hotel!More
Caters for all
We stayed at the alvor Baia for 10 nights, staff were friendly and helpful from the start. We couldn't check in till 4pm and we arrived at 12 but was able to use the all inclusive facilities straight away and managed to get in our room at 2pm. Rooms are lovely, clean and spacious and we're cleaned everyday. We had a balcony over looking the pool which is the biggest In the algarve but it's freezing but not a bad thing in the hot weather ! entertainment team in the day are good but not so much to do at night in the hotel so we went into the town a couple of nights which is just a 10 minute walk and lots of bars and lovely restaurants to go to. Food at the hotel was quite average but overall nice but what you would expect from a all inclusive buffet. You have to pay 10 euros for the spa which seems silly being all inclusive and have to pay 3 euros for a hat they make you wear to go in the indoor pool. Being all inclusive I think you should be able to use the spa facilities without extra cost and the Turkish bath was out of use. I paid for a full body massage and was amazing.... there is a free bus that picks you up outside the hotel and takes you to the beach which is only 5 minutes away. This beach is lovely and beds were only 12 euros for two all day.. there is an amazing restaurant built into the caves so if you get to go it's a must visit..overall alvor is a lovely place to visit but this hotel was very much aimed for children and older generations. Had a great stay but would not return as we had to leave the hotel to get decent night life past 10pm. Don't let that put you off though as we had a lovely time! More
All right hotel- Be very careful if you have specific Dietary requirements!
As many other reviews state this hotel is Ok, its clean, tidy, well looked after, has a massive pool, some entertainment and drinks out of plastic glasses-mostly to be expected and mostly acceptable. What does trouble me is the serious mistakes that the kitchen makes in labelling their meals- this hotel will make someone very unwell unless it learns more about allergens and specific dietary requirements. Some are labelled, some are not, some are incorrect (Individually foil / plastic wrapped margarine and butter-As containing gluten) and if a chef has made something hot , just to be on the safe side, it now contains gluten. I did speak to the restaurant manager and head chef, who had no real idea on what contained gluten and what did not- and offered to help educate them, this offer was not taken up! If you are there now-have a look at the breakfast counter- sausages / black pudding will have no information, evenings everything will information, I suspect many are wrong! Be carefull! (I did get the butter gluten marker removed)More
Not for you if you like a quiet life
First impressions were good. Hotel was bright, welcoming and very clean. Staff work really hard to keep hotel and rest areas clean and tidy. Didn't like being served drinks in plastic glasses, even in the evenings. Food was ok but way too much choice for each sitting - not really 4* food offerings. Poolside entertainment was very loud and could not even get away from the noise from the comfort of our room/balcony. If you want Spa treatments give yourself plenty of time before your appointment as you have to pay just beforehand at the Reception and if staff are checking guests in/out this can take some time. Seating area for evening entertainment very limited and not that comfy especially in the lower ground area. They have a good singer - Dina - however, when we were there, on one of the evenings, the management reserved half of the room for an anniversary group - who never showed, which meant paying guests could not join in the evenings entertainment. We did complain (for the guests who couldn't sit down and join the fun) to be told the owner of the hotel had organised the reservation and there was nothing they could do about it. Very unfair for the other guests. Very limited evening entertainment. Alvor village is nice, not all shops were open yet (we stayed in April). The hotel runs a regular bus service down to the village, we walked and it's only a 10-15 walk, but there is a steep hill back, so no good if walking is a challenge. If you like a long walk, take a stroll down to the beach - beautiful. You can walk along the boardwalk or the sandy beach. If you catch the tide right you can walk between the rock formations. Overall, the hotel is clean and tidy, staff are friendly, town is nice, however due to the noisiness of the hotel and the lack of respect for paying guests by the owner barring guests to half the evening venue, it's not somewhere we would visit again.More
