You’ll spend your days sipping cocktails at swim-up bars and sunbathing on the beach when you stay at the ClubHotel Riu Bambu.
Although the ClubHotel Riu Bambu is in a popular part of Punta Cana’s coast, it’s shrouded in metres of tropical gardens, so it feels pretty private.
There’s a beach right on the doorstep of this hotel. And not just any beach. The name of Arena Gorda translates as ‘fat sand’ and it’s a kilometre long.

My first Trip to a Riu from July 30 to August 6 , 2017. I've been to punta cana 5 times and this is my worst experience. I arrive around 1 pm on July 30. I got my room at almost 3 o clock a family of 18 people. We are we're pretty close. We have 7 rooms on total ranging from building 31 and 32. The rooms smell like mold all of them and that's the complain we get from all the people we have met while in here. It doesn't go away. They don't have that many staff working at the buffet so rarely you see someone going by your table. At the bars doesn't matter when you come to pick a drink if someone comes with a dollar out they just ignore you and get the other person. Noté: i always tip. Also if you come when they are picking up the food and ask them for something they just ignore you and tell you service is over. Even if it is for something like butter pack. That happen at the colonial and the mama Juana. The desserts at the restaurant they all bad the ones at the buffet are better. Pool area is good. Animation is always doing something. But the mold everyone in the rooms and hall it's the worst thing. Mold is coming out of the paint and the smell is super bad. Also I had to ask for Clorox a few times because they don't clean the room property. The towels are brown and wash out and they smell bad. They don't washed them very well. I can't say how disappointed I'm with Riu. The family vacation was horrible. More
Fantastic, fun filled, holiday resort
I stayed with 6 family members for my sister's 50th birthday between July 18th to August 2nd and had a fantastic time. The staff were friendly and helpful and Gabriel Santana on reception has excellent customer service skills, he really cared about helping us out. Enjoyed the beach party and entertainment team made it extra special. We had a modern contemporary room with a fresh feel to the blue and white decor. We were in block 7000 which I believe was newly refurbished and you could smell fresh paint in the halls. The downsides is that we were unable to get into the A La Carte restaurants unless you got there at 6pm as there was no booking system. The buffet restaurant was OK with a lot of choice however I was ill on a few occasions that I put down to the food at the buffet. The beach was great and there was a good choice of pools. I liked that we didn't have to fight for a sunbed! Overall a good choice.More
Although this hotel has had a recent refurbishment it seems old issues still remain. The room we had was ok, although we were unlucky and had a view of a road, we spent a couple of hours trying to get a different room but ended up with the same view so that was pointless. The room was clean and the maid did an excellent job of keeping it that way. The room did have a strange smell at first but this lessened as the holiday progressed, I think it comes from whatever they wash the sheets and towels in. The food was ok mainly but both me and my partner were ill after eating at both the Steak house and the Spanish restaurants so after that we stuck to the main buffet restaurant. There is definitely a hygiene issue at this hotel and we found food on offer at other restaurants that had been on the menu in the main restaurant the night before. This really took the shine off our holiday. The drinks varied from bar to bar and from whoever served you, some staff couldn't be bothered to make the drink properly! The pools were ok but I only saw 1 pool being cleaned, if you call going around with a dust pan and brush cleaning! Most places close the pools around 7/8 for treatment and cleaning but here people were still in the pools at 10pm! The entertainment was shocking so most nights it was early to bed! The biggest plus here was the beach , probably the best I've ever been on. All in all not the best holiday and will definitely not be returning the the Rui Bambu.More

Just got back from Riu Bambu. 2 weeks with 4 kids, 4-8-12 and 15. Had a great time! the pools where great. If you don't like it too crowded just move to one of the other pools. On the bad side, the water is so hot you may not feel it very refreshing. The water park was a hit with the kids, Spent 3 days there. The rooms where ok and clean. There was a bunch of seaweed on the beach and in the water but didn't impeach us from taking a swim. After taking a walk on the beach, i can tell the portion of the Riu beach is one of the best. The riuland for kids is very good. You can leave your kids from 10:30 till noon, they play games and make friends. Supervision is great, my 4 year old and 8 did like it. the animation and entertainment is good. some improvement can always be made but over all it was good. The casino at the Macao is very small and in my opinion, a waist of space. I read a lot of bad review about it. I just walked in and in less than 2 minutes i walked out.More
