Hotel was very clean, staff very attentive and great all round stay
This was our first trip abroad as a family (18 month old son), he had an absolute blast in the Splash! pool, all day every day - we had a great time just watching him enjoy himself. We thought the pool area was very clean, staff always had a smile (same for everywhere we went within the hotel). The animations team would stop by and take kids into an aircon room behind the burger bar for activities too. The room was clean, fairly modern and spacious enough for the 3 of us - we were fortunate to have a ground floor room (in what a was 2 storey building layout) and just a minute's stroll to the restaurant. I imagine the room would be tight with two children, but perhaps there's other rooms for larger families. The restaurant staff are very welcoming, and made a fuss of our son on every visit. The restaurant itself perhaps not quite as big as it needs to be in peak season but all it meant was that you had to wait only a few minutes at the door to be seated. The high volume of 'traffic' not a concern for their staff though, as already mentioned they are incredible - the maître d' in particular is a consummate professional and a very nice chap! The food in the restaurant was themed each evening but they had a mainstay of dishes available every night too, enough to keep even the fussiest of eaters happy. There won't be any michelin stars being awarded, so food critics (though surely not in the correct place on an All Inclusive holiday) will have chance to moan regarding the quality. Having 3 different choices of food during the day was nice to have, with the main dining room, the snack bar/Italian below it and the Splash! pool (albeit children's delights, burgers etc) was enough to not get tired of things, at least for a week or so. Evening entertainment was good, which caters for the younger audience to begin with and then moves on to adults/general later into the evening. Some of it performed by the animations team (such an energetic group as they keep you busy during the day too, young and old) or hired acts in for the evening. The waiters weren't too keen on you ordering from the bar - they were extremely good at keeping your drinks topped up without you having to even move! Based on our experience this hotel is geared towards families, but as the Splash! pool is just over the road from the main building it's not in your face, so other holidaymakers can have a good time here too - you'll just have to excuse the odd screaming child in the restaurant from time to time. It's great they have the beach directly accessible from one of the pool areas, and the shops are just round the corner too so you can't argue with the location. Initially their site map suggests their rooms and facilities are spread over a vast area, but really it's a short minute or two walk to get wherever you want to be. For some of the reviews staying the staff were unfriendly, well I guess they were approaching them with faces like a slapped bum and probably didn't even show the staff any courtesy by using any of the easily memorable Spanish words to show a level of politeness that the staff have no doubt provided them in the first place. An added bonus to the trip was the other Mums and Dads, all very polite and nice to chat with - after all we're all in the same boat trying to keep the little ones happy. Definitely coming back, hopefully our son will be big enough to go on the 3 larger slides in the other Splash! pool and have an even greater time on the next visit. FYI, a taxi at 3am to the airport (thanks shuttle..) costs 80 euros on the meter, so I guess 150-160 for a round trip.More
Well I've just read some bad reviews on this hotel all I can think is that those people must not have stayed at the FERRERA BLANCA for this hotel is outstanding Staff are fantastic could not have been more helpful. There was a quiet area by the entertainment area where you could sit inside .The staff where always cleaning around pool areas and entertainment area .As for plastic cups the only time we were served with these was during the day by the pools in the evening it was waiters serving at the entertainment area .The restaurant was of a high quality and once more the staff were great so please if you are reading these reviews before you decided on booking please look at the amount of good reviews compared to bad .I known that everyone has a different point of view well ours is this is a great hotel and would be happy to return to time and againMore
Great for toddlers
We chose this hotel for the splash pool and the good reviews. I will be honest I was underwhelmed on arrival as I have stayed in much nicer family suites. I have an almost 3 year old and a 7 month old so I expected more beds there were two singles in one room a cot and then the living room area had part of the couch with a sheet over it implying that my two year old would sleep here? Where he could roll off on to a marble floor also there are patio doors and the main appartment door there so I wouldn't have felt comfortable sleeping in a room away from him there. The door can be opened from the inside by a toddler even when it is locked that may be a problem for some people as it happens my toddler doesn't really venture far from me but still he did open the door a few times and have a think about it. What we decided to do was push the beds together up against the wall so the toddler could sleep there and not fall out and we slept next to him with the cot at the other end for the baby so actually this worked really well for us but some people may not like this. They offered us another cot for him so that might work better for some people. Our room was ground floor which was good for kids and buggy but only had a shower which tended to flood the bathroom even when only on a few minutes so was very difficult to wash both kids this was probably my biggest pain of the week I wished I had requested a room with a bath. The kids splash pool is near a road but it is a quiet road and I don't know anyone who wouldn't be watching their kids constantly at a pool so I don't see how a parent wouldn't see their child leave a gate and walk to a road unless they weren't watching their own child so that wasn't a problem for us either. My toddler loved this pool so much!! Everyday until it closed he would be there! They had lots of ice cream and ice lollies the kids can help themselves. The bar area only does soft drinks, burgers, hot dogs, chips and chicken nuggets if you want an alcoholic drink or proper food you have to go to one of the other bars or the restaurant this also wasn't a problem for us. We ate in the main restaurant most of the time apart from trying the downstairs more casual place at the pool once and eating out another night. I found the food fair and varied and always managed to get both kids fed. The downstairs area was bizarre my in laws who came half way through our week waited 45 mins for food and had to walk out! When we went they acted very confused like they didn't know what was happening. But anyway the main restaurant has first class service and I was quite happy to go there. Also the house wine is nice which isn't always the case at all inclusive resorts. Our little ones are not quite old enough to join in so much with kids clubs but we did enjoy the disco hour at night and the entertainment. My toddler actually loved the magician! There are staff walking around asking if you want drinks while the entertainment is on and there was something different every night. I never encountered any staff that weren't lovely here. I have to say after weighing up the positive and negatives about this hotel I would go back here again as it is so child friendly in regards to food they will eat, entertainment, splash pool and there is a nice beach close by and a nice go kart area with bouncy castles etc. I would also recommend the tapas y mas restaurant nearby. My husband found a nice bar to watch a big football game one day as well. If only the transfer from the airport was a bit shorter but it was a nice air conditioned bus with lots of room so can't complain too much took around an hour both ways.More
my husband and I stayed at this hotel I had to climb three flights of stairs to my room which was not good as I had operation on my legs before we went.food was disgusting and had to eat out even although we are not fussy eaters this was inedible,to have a drink I had to pay 6euros for a voldka as theres was like paint stripper, then it was served in a plastic cup.the pool area was filthy with litter and plastic cups all over.found the staff very ignorant and could not be bothered.we were a party of eight and had requested to be near each other but were miles apart, very disjointed place.you get dressed up on a evening to be served still with plastic cups at eight in the evening only good point was the entertainment staff during the day.would definitely not recommend this hotel or stay again.never seen a jet 2 repMore
Had a Brilliant Holiday!!
Stayed at the Ferrera Blanca very end of August / beginning of September and is overall a very good hotel. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, they are checked daily with fresh towels. We were in a room near to the stage but this wasnât a problem as everything was finished by 11pm. The four pools are very nice, sunbeds were an issue the first day as people were reserving them at silly oâclock and then not appearing till after lunch but for the rest of our time it wasnât really a problem. We chose to stay at the main pool as there was always something going on but there are two quieter pool and the kids splash pool. The hotel is in two parts with the main restaurant being across the road but this wasn't a problem as it was a very quiet one way lane. Breakfast was good always plenty of choice from full English options to fruit and cereals. We did find that at lunch and dinner there wasnât always a great choice but that was more of a personal choice and there was always plenty of pasta, rice etc. The Italian restaurant is very very good we actually ate there several lunch times where they had a good salad bar, pizza etc. We also ate there twice in the evening it was a relaxed more intimate setting which was really nice and there was table service. On our last night there was a barbecue at the Italian and that was really good. The animation team were fantastic, they all worked so hard day and night to make sure the guests were having a good time and they really made our holiday!! Special mention to Peter, Sami and Daniel who were always up for a laugh. Cala D âor resort it absolutely lovely and we will defiantly be back, itâs about a 10-15 minute stroll into the centre and about 20 mins to the harbour. I have seen some negative reviews around the time that we visited and I must same I am very surprised, although everyoneâs experience is different we didnât witness many of the issues that were raised. I would highly recommend the Ferrera Blanca and would be more than happy to return.More
