The Melia Buenavista has snagged a whole trio of white-sand beaches. You won’t have to share them either, thanks to the away-from-it-all location.
The beach is the centre of attention at the adults-only Melia Buenavista. The property’s surrounded by sandy coves, so you’ll have no problem finding your own patch to stretch out on.
The diving is top-notch – don a mask and you can snorkel right off the beach. The highly-polished interiors mean looks is another thing this place has going for it.

Our new home away from home
Number 1 reason for staying here and coming back: The Staff. Laily, Lester,Orestes, Osmani, Pedro, Nardel, Jorge, Juanito, Lily, Pederoso, Syneys.... the cooks, everyone.... so many people are now our family. You are treated like a friend, taken care of and cared for. People are amazing. They do it because they care about you. If you tip or don't you will get the same level of care. We tipped because the service was outstanding. No one from Quebec tips... ever. It was sad to see. When you arrive, you get your own butler that will arrange restaurant reservations (You can hit up restaurants at the sister resorts if you like (free bus transport). Butlers will take care of everything and anything for you. Rooms are huge with everything you need in them. LCD TV's with HDMI inputs (we brought our own Android box with movies). Universal plugs for electricity so you don't need converters. Mini fridge stocked but if you are missing something call your butler. 30 second walk to the beach from your room. Food: A La Carte. Fantastic! If you don't like things on the menu, kitchen will make you whatever you want! Many reviewers mentioned that Pizza at the pool. THE BEST PIZZA on the planet. Late night room service is hit and miss. You can hit up 3 other resorts if you want variety. Beach: 3 of them and all 3 awesome. Pools: Not very deep but you have 2 of them We are going back in November because we love this place. Bast part, no Americans. Do and do not's: TIP your servers, they do not expect the tips but greatly appreciate them. Language barriers, lot's of staff do not speak English but will go out off their way to help you. Overall we love the Cuban people, Staff and the resort. Management is amazing also. I can't wait to go back. Polako!More
Beware of this hotel. My husband and I stayed in this all inclusive hotel in December 2016. We both got food poisoning a couple of days into our stay. On our return to the UK, my husband ended up in hospital for four days as a result of the food poisoning. All the menus in the hotel have a disclaimer saying that if you eat undercooked fish or meat it is your responsibility. But they should not serve anything that is a risk to the health of their clients.More

Rolf H H,
A quite boutique oasis
We just got back from a wonderful week of quite relaxation where service was outstanding and we got our first taste of Cuban hospitality. The Melia Buenavista is a first class resort. I have stayed at a Ritz Carlton and at Relais & Chateaux properties. I prefer the natural friendliness of Cubans and their desire to make sure you're taken care of. We liked everything about the resort from it's lovely beaches and fantastic snorkeling to well appointed suites with an ocean view. The private outdoor shower was a real treat. Lailay, Lester and Orestes at the poolside bar provided exemplary service as did their cohorts in the pizza boutique next to the bar. Navy (nah-veh), Dany and Edel provided everything from Salsa lessons to pool volleyball games for those who were looking for a little more than a good read by the poolside. Live entertainment was provided in the late afternoon by the pool and by the lobby bar in the evenings. Be sure to take in the sunset on the beach before dinner. We booked a private excursion to Remedios and Santa Clara at the suggestion of our butler Joel. It was 140 pesos well spent. We grilled our guide Michael with all our questions about Cuba and were able to see wonderful places and things other than the typical visit to a rum or cigar factory offered in packages. Our plan was to have a wonderful time and we did. We would recommend this property to anyone who wants a quite, adult only experience.More
Relaxing stay at The Melia
This is a very quite resort, slow paced not a place you would want to stay at if you were looking to stay up late and mix in with other guests. We arrived at the resort late, 12:30 am. We checked in and upgraded our room, then my wife and I headed into the lobby bar for a quick snack and a nite cap after a long day. We were the only people in the bar beside the lone bartender, who seemed surprised when i asked him for a shot of cuban rum. A nite cap of sort..... I asked "were is everyone" he explained... its late , most are sleeping..After our drink and a quick snack we heeded the bartenders advice and headed to our room for the nite.. Rooms are very nice, the outdoor shower, the only shower in our room was nice, enjoyed that. The selection of beaches is a luxury at this resort, snorkelling was good at all of them particulally the sunset beach. No buffet at this resort all meals are sitdown menu style and we enjoyed all of our days eating in the air conditioned resturants this resort offers. The worker ratio to guests is the highest I have seen at any of the resorts we have travelled to Cuba. A nice touch when you have no line ups for pretty much eveything... thats what a holiday should be, no wait time.. a true luxury. Overall we enjoyed our stay , it was a relaxing stay with fine service. Its a little further away from most resorts on Cayo Santa Maria, a good 4 km walk alomg the beach before you jit the closest resort. Clean resort with hard working service. Enjoyed every minute of the recharge this reort offers... a true cuban 5 star.. well done Melia!!More
