Could've been better
Overall the holiday was good but there were things that this hotel definitely needs to work on. When we arrived we were told that the 2 bedroom apartment we had booked was having work done to it so we couldn't stay there. This was annoying as we picked this hotel for that room as a group of 4 friends we didn't really want to be split up. Although we later found out that the hotel was quiet and had in fact closed that part off and moved everyone to the same area. The hotel offered us a choice, either two rooms next to each other or a one bedroom apartment. We looked in both and decided to go for the 2 separate rooms as 2 people would have to sleep on sofas in the one room apartment which didn't seem fair. The rooms were very spacious and clean which was good. As we were walking round to look at these two rooms we found that only 1 of the 4 lifts were working. This was really annoying as the week went on as we were on the 4th floor. Reception said they were waiting for a part but apparently the lifts had been out of order for ages. They were still out of order on our last day so if you struggle with stairs you might want to contact this hotel before booking. As we arrived after dinner had finished the hotel provided a meal for us of a selection of ham, salad, potatoes and fruits. Overall I found the food good. I had read that some people had found the food cold but I don't agree with that. Food was always hot and there was a microwave if anyone wasn't happy with the temperature or for baby food. There was different food out at lunch and dinner so you can always find something to eat. My main problem was that not all the food was labelled. This was really annoying as I hate fish and felt I had to guess what everything was or risk it and try it once I'd sat back down. The pool area was nice and there was always plenty of sun beds which was good as it's horrible having to get up early on holiday just to get a sun bed. The pool bar service was good but the plastic cups were so small you had to refill them often. Best to bring water bottles and just refill them. There are only a few toilets downstairs near the pool and I found that they weren't the cleanest so opted to go back to the room. Think the hotel needs to do toilet checks a lot more in the daytime. There was entertainment in in the evenings though we never went to it and there is a separate Irish bar which is more like a pub. The barman Marek made the best cocktails as they were ridiculously strong when he made them and he always remembered us when we went in which was nice. The hotel is in a quiet area but we walked down to the shops which are 5 minutes away and the seafront is only 10 minutes from the hotel so it's an easy walk. The hotel was nice and quite and never had to queue for anything which was nice. Unfortunately I do have to say that on the last day of our stay we opened the balcony door to find 5 dead cockroaches on our balcony. Assume they had come from the small drain in the corner as we were on the 4th floor which was at the top. We told the receptionist who said he would tell housekeeping. This was surprising to find as the hotel does seem very clean and we hadn't seen anything like that until that last day. Overall think holiday was nice but this hotel does need to improve. Wasn't happy about not getting the room we wanted as they weren't busy enough to open them. Love costa Adeje so will go back but not to this hotel. More
the hotel is really well run all aspects to the running were efficiently carried out. The hotel public areas were cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis. The buffet restaurant prepared a varied menu the salad bar was always varied and plentiful. The a la carte was delightful the food is prepared in full view . All staff were helpful and always ready to assist guests. We would be quite happy to return .More
Good value hotel
We stayed at the playa real in May and although we had booked an apartment these were not currently open so we were upgraded to a suite, although we did find this a little difficult as our son had severe allergies and we needed a kitchen to prepare his food. We did explain this to staff and were provided with a microwave. Rooms were clean and maid service was provided daily (excluding Sunday's), safety deposit boxes are available in the rooms for. 20 euro deposit and 12 euro for a week. We found the food good in the restaurant and a good range of Mediterranean dishes, for lunch and dinner. Some food was placed out again in a later meals but due to the range you did not have to have this. We ordered packed lunches a few days also and these were OK. We did find that the snacks were poor however staff were accomodating and you could bring food from the main restaurant to the pool area if you wished. The entertainment was ok and improved as the week progressed. The hotel was quiet and as the location is slightly out of the main area you did not get noise from local bars and entertainment. More

Lovely clean hotel, bright and airy with friendly helpful staff. Pool area always clean and plenty of sun beds. Only gripe was we were unable to book the al a carte restaurant, seemingly always full, not very good organisation by the hotel, also tried to book the sauna on 2 occasions, but on arrival no staff were present and doors locked. The food was plentiful and well presented, but it was repetative and normally cold. The man that booked the excursions was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.More
Lovely family holiday
It's now day 5 of my weeks holiday here at Playa Real. I've had a great time so far. Hotel is very clean, cleaners come in every day and have a freshen up (not Sundays) every 3rd day they change the bedding. I feel that maybe coming at this time of year was a blessing as I've read in previous reviews that people have found it hard to get sunbeds and have had to queue for the dinner room.... we have definitely not had this problem!!! I've come with my partner and my 2yr old and the baby pool has only ever had no more then 4 people there, the main pool again is very quite and there was no problem in getting a sun bed so I would definitely come back at this time of year if it's always this quite!!! The reason I have only given this hotel a 4star rating is because of the food.... I am far from snobby or picky BUT what other reviewers have put about the food being cold (all the time) and that there is not much to pick from is all true!!! Tonight myself and my partner have decided to go out for food as we just can't take another night of the same food on offer. Don't get me wrong most of the food is nice once you re-heated it but we just need a change to our taste buds as it just seems the same night after night... apart from that as I've said the hotel itself is lovely so please don't be put off by the food. Make sure you take a visit to Siam Water Park, it's a fantastic day out for everyone and there is a free bus that takes you there about a 5min walk from the hotel. I would come back to this hotel in future but maybe on a bed and breakfast basis instead :-) More
