Hotel Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa

This beachside hotel comes with a duo of pools and restaurants, and it’s big on activities, too.

There are 2 lagoon pools and 2 restaurants – 1 does buffets, the other is a speciality grill. You’ve also got an A to Z of activities, while in the evening there’s entertainment in the theatre.

Location-wise, this hotel hits the right spot. It’s right on a sandy beach, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from shops and bars in the centre of Costa Caleta.

Lovely hotel

Spent a week here with the wife and the hotel was spotlessly clean. We stayed all inclusive and the food was always very nice. The food was always being refreshed by the chefs so it wasn't sitting under hot lamps for ages and was always hot. Good variety of meals available which was good as I'm a really fussy eater and I never had a problem finding anything to eat each day. We stayed in block 3 which was a little bit of a walk to reception, bar and restaurants but that was no problem as the block was nice and quiet. Stayed in a superior room which was really big and comfortable. I have two small issues with the stay:- 1. I paid for the premium wifi and it was really slow, about 0.5 to 1 Mbps. My advice is don't pay the extra €25 for the service. 2. I don't think the bed sheets were changed at all during the week despite the literature saying they would be. Went on an organised Thomson trip around the island and it was a brilliant day. The guide was very informative and kept her commentary going all day. Would I go back to the hotel? Most certainly I would as it was a lovely place to stay and relax.More

Decent value, excellent staff all round

Wife and myself have just had a Winter week in the Barcelo Thalasso Spa, and very happy and rebooked for a fortnight in June/July Good bits: Location and layout of the hotel is top flight, easy access to the beach Hotel is a really warm design without the tackyness. The staff were all excellent and some odd reviews regarding all inclusive not being treated the same, total rubbish. The staff were pleasant, warm and respectful at all times to everyone. Food quality was decent for all inc. Rooms cleaned to a high standard daily Bad bit: Personally speaking ..... the animation team's choices of entertainment was overly indulgent and vain for a holiday hotel in the sun. Les Misérables, Cats, Broadway excepts all danced to but mimed and felt more like a vanity project to show how clever they were rather than entertainment for all. They are talented people without a doubt but in need of a musical director. I was reminded of an animation team in Crete that danced flawlessly and sang reasonably well and had the entire audience singing and cheering every night. No miming, lots of audience participation and feel good atmosphere, which is kind of the point on holiday. Again they danced, mimed and acted very well, but Les Mis? On holiday? Seriously?? No! (I love Les Mis by the way) Still five star for us though, thanks to the Staff at Barcelo, no more BluBay Lanzarote in Winter for us.More

Back to Barcello

Stayed here when the hotel was first built and looked forward to seeing what had changed. To be fair the hotel still has a high standard in all departments but we feel it lacks the little things that we have come to expect these days such as tea/coffee making facilities in your room, not having to pay a deposit of 10 euro for a towel and a payment of 3 euros each time you changed it for a dry/clean one. As for the surrounding area it has been over developed and as a result we found it had been spoilt. The staff at the hotel were excellent, cleanliness second to noneMore

Honest opinion

Hotel ok booked superior room, what's superior? Wooden laminate floors? Food ok but Luke warm, spa ok been to better, staff need new jobs in restaurant as they don't like their current one. Don't bother paying for cocktas in the bar, tried several all very very poor. Evening entertainment is good. More

Don't forget your teabags!

Just returned from a great holiday with a much improved hotel, nice to see the management actually reading the reviews and trying to make things better. I'm not going to repeat everything that all the other reviews have said, so here are some tips; Take your own teabags, the ones in the hotel are hideous, You can hire a kettle from the reception (we took our own) also the hot water in the restaurant is sometimes lukewarm (in busy periods) making mashing even harder. Don't order a cappuccino in any of the bars, for some reason the staff don't know how to make them, they are either cold or taste poor, the wife had to take hers back twice. The butter and jams are nowhere near the toast machines so get those first, the butter also seems to be in a big sticky slab which you have to cut with what appears to be a "plasterers trowel" Why can't everything be in the same place? Although the sun loungers look good (and there are plenty of them) they are actually uncomfortable so take,or buy, one of those neck cushion things. It is cheaper to hire a car from across the road than it is from the reps (we saved ourselves 65euro) but the cars are not as good (ours had been in a few scrapes) and maybe the insurance either. If you do,then take the road to Coralejo, there is a long straight road with what looks like a volcano at the end of it, get your passenger to take photos! Also further down the road there are white sand dunes, another photo! My favourite road was the mountain path from Betancuria to Pajara, not for the faint hearted! I hope I've not been too negative, we had a great time, the food was good, as were the rooms/beds/entertainment and spa. The January weather was not so good. Would we come to this hotel again? Probably yes! Would we come in winter again? Probably no.More
