Hotel Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa

This beachside hotel comes with a duo of pools and restaurants, and it’s big on activities, too.

There are 2 lagoon pools and 2 restaurants – 1 does buffets, the other is a speciality grill. You’ve also got an A to Z of activities, while in the evening there’s entertainment in the theatre.

Location-wise, this hotel hits the right spot. It’s right on a sandy beach, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from shops and bars in the centre of Costa Caleta.

Fantastic holiday would recommend more to families than young couples

I never usually get around to posting review but I felt that the hotel's service alone warranted a good review. We recently stayed for 7 nights with our 5 month old daughter, we emailed in advanced to request a ground floor room with a cot, this was taken care of and they put us opposite the children's play area (which is part of the kids clubs so no loud children at night) and it was nice and quiet for babies bedtime. The hotel is clean, the rooms are really big with a separate dressing area which was perfect for me. The entertainment staff were not pushy and everyone was really nice and helpful. On the first night we had paid for a taxi transfer and the taxi driver took us to the wrong hotel so after a VERY stressful walk with three cases and a screaming baby the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough to help us check in quickly and easily. The food and drink was good but perhaps a little repetitive for the more picky eaters like my husband. The only two things that kept me from giving 5 stars was first of all the food in the snack bar as this is like cheap school cafeteria burgers and some salad and it would have been nice to have somewhere other than the buffet restaurant to eat occasionally and the second was how loud the entertainment was . . We could not watch any of the entertainment as it started at gone half nine, way past little ones bedtime and although she is a good sleeper it was so loud she kept being startled awake. This being said we simply had a few drinks in the lovely poolside bar with the nice lighting around the pool. Even after these two points I would definitely recommend especially to families and we had an amazing time so thank you Barcelo fuerterventura : ) More

Fabulous holiday

Firstly i would say is when reading other reviews is that there are hundreds of people staying here and your not going to please everyone! The hotel is 10 mins from the airport which is great we already booked a taxi through thompson. On arrival we didnt wait long and reception staff are lovely. The room we stayed in was 2209, lovely and big, beds are massive and the best we've ever slept in, our balcony overlooked the pool and you could see the sea aswell. The rooms have english channels aswell, so we never missed emmerdale! The maids come everyday and changed the towels, bedding and cleaned. Air con was lovely. You have to pay for the safe, but thats standard everywhere you go. Pool areas are lovely, 3 in total, you could get a sunbed any time of the day. Food was fab, something for everyone and the staff was always topping it up with fresh food all the time. The entertainment people really make this hotel, there was always things going on throughout the day, we joined in but you don't have to! The evening entertainment was really good they put a lot of effort in. Good quality of drinks at the bar and never had to wait too long either. Just a stones throw from the beach and harbour, and different things to do. Weather was lovely with the minimum of 25 and max of 32 degrees, with a gentle breeze. The only thing i would say is that maybe for a 4 star is that a kettle should come as standard in the rooms as we had to pay, and also the pools should really be heated from september as a lot of people commented on how chilly they were. Overall i would defiantly go back here or another barcelo, and i would recommend it 😊🍹 More

Laura N,

Overall lovely and clean hotel

I went with my family for a weeks holiday and got a taxi from the airport. No problems taxi rank outside and around €12 it was about a 15 min journey. I think that getting our private taxi solved a busy reception problem. I panicked when the girl said block 1 as I had read tripadvisor before I went. Although our rooms were interconnecting it faced the Irish bar which is on the perimeter of the hotel. Having a 10 year old child I wasn't happy. Initially I was told to come back the following day as they were full. I insisted the girl speak to the manager and we were moved immediately. The rooms were exactly the same but next to each other in block 3 on the ground floor. 3001 and 3002 were really quiet rooms and got the sun at the end of the day. You get 2 bottles of water in your fridge and they don't get replaced. What they don't tell you is that you can replace them yourself but only from the bar next to the reception. Another thing they don't tell you is you get 30 mins free gratis wifi per day and if you need longer the bars close by have free wifi. I did ask the hotel before I went if you get hair conditioner and was told yes but This turned out to be a mistake. I spent the entire week asking reception for conditioner and having to explain to a different member of staff each time. I did try to keep calm at times because you would think I was asking for GOLD!!!! We were all-inclusive in a standard room but because we got moved we were told we were in a superior room but without the benefits ie hair conditioner robes and free wifi. I think you also get access to the spa. I did have a look at the spa which it seemed a bit small and was across the street from the hotel. The additional cost I can't remember but way over what it was worth. When you go superior you get the same spec of room. This hotel was recommended and I wasn't disappointed. Big plus for me was the amount of beds and the cleanliness throughout the hotel. The entertainment at night was indoors although a lot of miming and the food was excellent. All inclusive drinks and cocktails are superb including Smirnoff vodka which is a plus. The drinks menu has two price lists and you can see which is available in your package. All rooms are big in size and beds really comfortable. The not so good points but didn't spoil my holiday was the lack of soft drinks in the room and freezin cold salty water pool. The service in the restaurant was at times slow and dishes not cleared very fast. You paid a deposit of €10 for a towel and if you wanted it exchanged they charged €2 per towel. There was also a charge for the in room safe. I was happy with the clothes policy in restaurants but agree this should not just be for men as I seen some women inappropriate dressed day and night. The hotel sits on the beach and next to a few bars and a supermarket which has a nice walkway to a harbour. There is an extra cost for the beds on the beach €10 for 2 beds and a umbrella for 1 day. This is separate to the hotel. Looking at complaints on trip advisor thankfully the staff were all pleasant and can't say it was not too much of a walk to block 3. I did feel they have a lot of extras which you don't expect when you pay for a all inclusive package. Lastly the kids club and staff were excellent.More

Our Thalasso Spa 2014

Great hotel and staff. Food was good with a fair selection. We enjoyed our stay and may consider going back. The pool areas were cleaned every morning and the Spa was very relaxing during our treatments there.More
