Michelle M,

Great Hotel

We stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of June and had a great time. The hotel is set back away from the beach, and no rooms have a sea view - but dont let this put you off. The hotel is modern and exceedingly clean and well kept. The room felt relitively luxurious (to the extent that you can expect in a place like Tunisia) with King size bed, good quality bedding, large balony, smart bathroom and a good amount of space. The hotel had so many facilities and activities on offer, but never pestered you do any of them. The pools were an average size, but never too busy, and all of the activities were held in the one pool leaving the other for those who dont want to join in with the games. The beach is still attached to the hotel, but a short walk from most of the rooms and is generally clean although as some others have pointed out does have horses and camels which do leave a little mess on the beach - just watch where you step and it shouldnt bother you. The hotel has one main buffet restaurant and 3 'al a carte' restauarnts - an Italian, an Indian and a Tunisian. The main buffet restaurant wasnt wonderful - there were not enough tables for the amount of guests and so many would be reserved for guests who tipped the waiters, leaving others with no where to sit. We were asked to move from one table as "they had forgotten it was reserved for the director" which we reluctantly did as we wached the waiter seat another couple of guests there - who had evidently tipped more than we had. The waiters seemed to work very hard, but again prioritised those that they 'knew' and so making the process of getting a drink, or knife and fork quite slow on occasion. We soon learned that leaving a small tip after dinner meant that they looked after you better. The food was average, and while there was a good selection some nights, this was not consistant and could get a bit 'samey' You need to check that the food is cooked all the way through as we were a few times served raw meat and fish. The Tunisian and Italian restaurants were far nicer (although not sure that the chef had ever been to Italy) as the menu wasnt exactly traditional. The Indian restauarant in contrast was aweful, the food in no way represented Indian cooking and even familiar dishes were done in a different way and tasted poor. The staff were generally very good, and the entertainment team hilarious - especially in their evening shows. I would highly receommend this hotel as its certainly one of the best we've stayed in while visiting a North African country.More

Never go back again

The curtains in our room were filthy as were the doors, the shower head was broken and wouldn't hold in place. The hotel needs massively updating as everything looked tired and worn. The food was oaky at best and very similar most nights even though each night had a different theme. Some times the fish or meat was raw and a lot of the times cold. There were lots of flies in the dining hall with lots going on to the food, one morning we found lots of ants running over some glazed bread. We felt like we were ignored by a lot of the waiting staff, sometimes they completely blank you and walk past to look after there favoured guests, maybe because we hadn't tipped them straight away, this was the same for most of the bar staff, we would either get ignored or they would blatantly ask for tips. Every evening we were pestered by the on site photographers, even though we told them every night that we didnt want photos taken they would take some anyway as we walked to the food hall. The only good points were the entertainment on offer and the chill out zone by the beach. Not a pleasant holiday in the slightest More
