Don't really understand the people moaning about this hotel it's in a foreign country there will be lots of different languages being spoken if you want English staff go to Cornwall. Cannot fault the staff from the cleaners to the entertainment team all top class and can't do enough for you. The just djerba trip is great would recommend to anyone maybe not if you have young children as it can be quite a long morning a lot of travelling. The beach is much cleaner than any beach is have seen in the UK or Europe. The main restaurant is great a different theme every night and the waiters and chefs really make an effort the food is brilliant can't fault it. So many activities to do you will never be bored. All in all great holiday just remember to respect the locals if you go out and speaking a few words of Arabic go a long way.More
We went for a week on the 8th October, looking for a bit of sun and found it! temperatures in the 30's every day, balmy evenings. We upgraded to a superior bungalow and had 2 bathrooms which was brilliant. We have been to Magic Life before and like them for the activities available. I did yoga, body conditioning and Zumba which were all excellent, although the yoga too easy for me, but then it was geared at beginners, which I'm not but I wanted to try it. The Zumba teachers are great, they are the dancers in the show and are excellent! My husband got his catamaran license so we were able to go out a few times. He also did the water skiing and banana, which was all included, and of course beach volleyball. We found the food in the main buffet excellent. We liked the Thai and the Italian, its just nice to be waited on sometimes. the shows varied, we preferred the ones involving the dancers rather than comedy! the beach is very busy, luckily we are always up early so had no problem getting a bed, but if you were after 10 am, it became difficult. Everywhere was spotless, constantly being cleaned. Our main complaint would be something out of the hands of the hotel. We had deliberately avoided the English half term only to find that it was the German half term, so there were a lot of children. This was not a problem during the day but in the evenings, the out door area to have a pre dinner drink is rather small and apart from everyone also waiting for a table, the children running riot was very annoying. Where were the parents? having dinner it seemed to us and just leaving their kids. The beach is beautiful, miles and miles of white sand and turquoise sea. Yes, you do have to be careful where you walk as the day goes on with the horses and camels, but we liked watching them and their owners never hassled us. They seemed to do a good trade. The German contingent didn't bother us at all and we never noticed any preferential treatment. We would go back.More
will not be returning
As a family we couldn't fault the lay-out of the facilities available here.Everywhere was very clean rooms more than adequate staff mostly helpful. But everywhere we went it was geared up for the Germans they got preferential treatment all the time. We also had trouble on arrival when we arrived at djerba airport and were asked to fill in cards but there was not enough for the amount of passengers that arrived. We were told on the coach going to the resort we would have to pay a tax when we left the country so people were changing their money ready for arrival at the airport. Two days before we were due to go home we were told we would not have to pay the tax to leave after all. We went to see the rep about changing money back to English and she really didn't want to be bothered and was quite rude. I have never experienced rudeness from a Thompson or First Choice rep before and i was quite upset. Also food at this resort needs to be covered up as a family we all suffered from tummy upsets at one time or another. Would not go back there for all the tea in China.More

Alles klar, Herr Kommissar! :-)
Went to Penelope Beach back in September and had one of the best times I've had for a long time. I have to say that the reviews about there being many Germans at the resort was a bit of a plus factor (I speak German) and I'd say it was about 70/30 in terms of guests. Enjoyed every bit of the holiday other than they didn't show the England match on TV. :-) A nice array of food, great entertainment staff, excellent pools, extremely clean - nothing negative to say about it at all.More
