Club Magic Life Penelope Beach

This beachfront hotel sprawls across several acres and packs in tons of pools, activities and restaurants.

There are 4 pools to pick from at this hotel – including an aqua park with chutes and slides for little ones. And the activities line-up is hard to beat, ticking off an archery target range and beach volleyball.

The village-style complex is right on a white-sand beach and its low-rise buildings cover several acres, so the whole place has a roomy, peaceful feel to it.

My husband and I spent our holiday in this hotel from the 10th to 17th September 2014. This is a very nice 4 star hotel, which is quite big with two adult pools, one child pool and one indoor/outdoor quiet pool with jacuzzi. Beach/pool towels are provided. The complex is in two halves and on the other side is the beach, the aqua park and snack bar. There is also a Spa and Gym. The accommodation consists of bungalows and a couple of blocks of apartments. The blocks have a lift and a very nice entrance hall. The rooms are spacious and very clean with fresh linen every day. There is a mini fridge in the room, a TV and air conditioning, which is very effective. There is WiFi in the hotel and this can be obtained in some of the rooms, but best place is probably the reception area. The only downside to the rooms in the blocks is that the view is nothing special. Poolside and garden views are only obtainable in the family sized rooms, which are the bungalows. There are no sea views. The activities during the day are ongoing and entertainment at night very good. The entertainment staff are excellent. With regards to the food, there is plenty to choose from at breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is cooked to a good standard. There are three specialist restaurants which you can visit once during your stay, Tunisian, very enjoyable and a nice experience, Italian, very good indeed and a Thai restaurant which, unfortunately, if you want anything like authentic Thai dishes this restaurant is not worth a visit. There is also a beach snack bar and tea and cakes in the afternoon at the cake bar near the pool. The staff are very friendly and seem very keen to help with any problems. Due to the Libyan situation, some trips were cancelled, but my husband and I did the pirate boat excursion which was very enjoyable stopping off at Flamingo Island for swimming and a very nice lunch and entertainment. We also did the Just Djerba trip which entails going to The Djerba Art Museum,Synagogue, Old Fort, local market and potteries. This was a very good holiday, a lovely place and we would return to Djerba and this hotel.More

Third time at Penelope Beach Imperial and still as magical as ever

Just got back from our third visit to this hotel. We never normally return to the same hotel but Magic Life has proved to be the exception and we hope to be able to return again next year. On this occasion we travelled with friends who were keen to join us having heard so much about the place from our previous visits. From the moment we arrived we were give a warm welcome and a refreshing drink whilst our luggage was delivered to our room. The facilities at the hotel are exceptional and the numerous activities available should satisfy even the most active person's needs. The entertainment team work extremely hard to make sure that everyone has a great time but if you just want to relax and chill there is no pressure applied to take part. One of the big attractions is the free watersports on the beach which include water-skiing, wake-boarding, banana boat, windsurfing and kayaking. Slah the boat captain is a really good driver and is happy to take out both experienced and novice skiers. He was pleased to see us again and we took him some photos of the three of us together from our last visit. The food in the main buffet restaurant is excellent with many of the dishes being freshly cooked as you wait. There is always a very wide range of choice which should satisfy even the most fussy eater. Each evening in the buffet there is a different theme including French, Italian, Tunisian, Chinese, Fish but the evening not to miss is the weekly Gala Night when the food is of an even higher standard. We also visited each of the 3 A la carte restaurants (Thai, Italian and Tunisian) all of which have had changes in the menus since our last visit and we would recommend a visit to each of these. There is also a wide choice offered for breakfast with our personal favourite being the freshly made to order omelettes. Our favourite place to drink in the evening was the Jazz Bar where Mourhad our friendly barman made by far the best cocktails. After we had worked our way through the cocktail menu in the first few days, Mourhad started making us his own special cocktails which were delicious especially his banana special! What really makes Magic Life so special is its staff, everyone is so friendly from the cleaners to the gardeners, the security guards, waiters, bar staff right through to the entertainment team and the reception staff, each time we return to magic life we feel as if we have come home and are able to relax into holiday mode immediately.More

It's a Magic Life!

We stayed at Club Magic Life Penelope Beach Imperial for two weeks from 8th October until 22nd October 2014. I went with my wife and my mother and father-in-law as two couples. It was me and my wife's first time in Tunisia and am sure it will not be our last. I have read numerous reviews on here and it annoys me when British holiday makers moan about the amount of foreign holiday makers in places like this .... it is a foreign country remember! I find it embarrassing just how ignorant we are as a nation when it comes to 'foreigners' and non-English speakers. Although I do not really have a grasp on any language other than English it does not stop me from wanting to be able to converse with other people in their own language, it really does not take that much effort. Anyway, that gripe aside I will get onto the hotel. We have stayed in a couple of other different Club Magic Life hotels in the past (Marmaris and Sharm) so understand the concept of the hotel chain and to be fair the actual hotel itself is not quite as good as the others we have stayed in. This does not mean it is bad by any means. In fact the room was more than adequate. The Magico (buffet) Restaurant was always of very high standard and the servers and waiters were always happy and smiling and always ready to strike up a conversation. The À la carte restaurants were generally good too. My favourite was the Asian, but the Italian came a close second. You could book each of the À la carte restaurants once per week and this was done via Guest Services (Latifa or Hanna). The great thing about Club Magic Life is you can do as much or as little as you want on one of these holidays, whether you love to just laze around the beach of the sea and do nothing but soak up the sun or alternatively you could play Archery, Tennis, Mountain Biking, Football, Volleyball, Aerobics, Aqua Aerobics, Zumba, Nordic Walking to name but a few! What really makes a resort like this though is the Entertainment's Team, and this one in my opinion had the best I had ever seen and it was a pleasure to get to know each and every one of them as they took time out of their busy schedules to speak to you and get to know you, and in the evening's entertainment they took time out to sit down and tell you more about themselves. I would like to say a huge thank you to the beautiful Aurore who's 'puppy dog' eyes made it difficult for you not to get involved in the many games in and around the Activity Pool. Also, Mr Microphone himself, the lovely Daniel. Always entertaining and just never stopped having fun. The same applies to my Archery teacher, the always patient Hüseyin. Then there was Davide, the Volleyball coach and a relative newcomer to a job like this but was always there with a smile and ready to chat. This brings me on to the dancers/entertainers who put on the majority of the evenings shows and entertainment. They are again a credit to Club Magic Life. Not only do they all do various things during the day (Step Aerobics, Zumba, Nordic Walking, Stretching, Aqua aerobics to again name a few) but they also put on very entertaining shows during the evenings at the Amphitheater. Another big should out to Yulia (dance captain), Kristina, Rodrigo, Marcelo, Bogdan and the amazing acrobat Guinho. Not only did these people never stop smiling they also never stopped entertaining throughout our holiday and were always ready to have a dance with you at the aftershow entertainment! There are many others who I have not mentioned that deserve praise like the amazing watersports team and Alexandra the Tennis Coach, and the lovely ladies from the Mungo Club entertainment (Sandra, Maike and Nicole). I could go on all day about what an excellent team they are but no doubt you are losing your will to live by now so I will end this review. I have no doubts that I will be back to this hotel again in the future but I also have no doubts that I will be looking out for where the Entertainments Team are in the world and following them for more entertainment. Thanks for an amazing two weeks!!More

Mark G,

Great value all inclusive holiday

We spent a week here at the end of August/Start of September. This was out first inclusive holiday and our first trip to Tunisia and had a fantastic time. The staff went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, the hotel was immaculate as were the pools. The private beach was clean and tidy and the staff made sure that no one was bothered by any of the traders that frequent the area. Whilst there we did a 3 hour sunset horse ride booked through Ali which was great and allowed us to see more of the island ( although some riding experience did come in handy), a trip to the local Soukh for some shopping (some great bargains available if you are willing to haggle) as well as paragliding, gym classes and sea canoes. There is no shortage of activities to choose from!! The weather was amazing, it was 4 days before we saw a cloud. We made full use of the a la carte restaurants which provided a nice break from the main buffet and can recommend all of them. In the main restaurant there was always a good selection of food with themed evenings. There were always places to get snacks or drinks during the day and the Wunderbar was open 24hrs for those who wanted it and even did cocktails ( including non alcoholic ones). The Tunisian cafe is also worth a look where you can have tea and smoke a shisha pipe. All in all it was a fantastic holiday, great value, good flight times, short transfers and we will definitely return.More
