As a family we couldn't fault the lay-out of the facilities available here.Everywhere was very clean rooms more than adequate staff mostly helpful. But everywhere we went it was geared up for the Germans they got preferential treatment all the time. We also had trouble on arrival when we arrived at djerba airport and were asked to fill in cards but there was not enough for the amount of passengers that arrived. We were told on the coach going to the resort we would have to pay a tax when we left the country so people were changing their money ready for arrival at the airport. Two days before we were due to go home we were told we would not have to pay the tax to leave after all. We went to see the rep about changing money back to English and she really didn't want to be bothered and was quite rude. I have never experienced rudeness from a Thompson or First Choice rep before and i was quite upset. Also food at this resort needs to be covered up as a family we all suffered from tummy upsets at one time or another. Would not go back there for all the tea in China.More

Club magic dejerba
Went to club magic 1st October. Site excellent value for money. Spotlessly clean. Majority of staff friendly. Food excellent choice. Dejerba as a place dirty. Buy your departure stamp at the airport in shop .More

Alles klar, Herr Kommissar! :-)
Went to Penelope Beach back in September and had one of the best times I've had for a long time. I have to say that the reviews about there being many Germans at the resort was a bit of a plus factor (I speak German) and I'd say it was about 70/30 in terms of guests. Enjoyed every bit of the holiday other than they didn't show the England match on TV. :-) A nice array of food, great entertainment staff, excellent pools, extremely clean - nothing negative to say about it at all.More

As there were no English immigration cards at the Airport, it meant families had to wait until they became available. When we cleared arrivals, we were met bythe Thomson Team and given our Welcome Package and bus numer to take us to the hotel. When we went to the bus park The Rep told us we had to wait until one came as there was a shortage of buses. The bus did not arrive for about 20 minutes. When it did arrive, we had to wait a further 30 minutes until the Rep found the owner of a case that had been abandoned by its owner. The Rep did not tell people they needed to complete the registration form in the Welcome Pack before arriving at the hotel and therefore there was chaos at reception of the hotel when we arrived. The double room we were given was very cluttered with furniture, although it was kept very clean. The hotel areas were very well looked after by the hard working staff. The Restaurant was not too good as there was always a problem trying to get a table, although the Germans did not have this problem. The food was lukewarm. The Italian and Thai restaurants were excellent but did not get to try the Tunisian. The beach area was not too bad but again towels were put on beds to reserve them, although they would not get occupied until late morning or early afternoon. The swimming pools were very nice and there was plenty of activities to keep sporty people going. There were strikes by public services which affected taxis, buses and rubbish collection and as rubbish was not being collected the roads to the hotel were lined with the rubbish. Very unhygienic.More

German Holiday Camp?!!!
The good - Good hotel, good facilities, good food. The bad - Spent a lot of time checking in on line but we got there and had to do it all again, not great with 2 small children running around. Went with the expectation that we could put our eldest whos 3 into the kids club but as they ONLY EVER spoke German despite talking to guest relations about it... we couldn't leave her in an evironment where she couldn't understand anyone and was confused :( v dissapointing considering we booked through Thompson not a German tour operator? The hotel next door to the Penelope was so loud at night and one night in particular had a proper rave going on until 4AM!!!!!! Seriously.... it started at 1am and finished at 4am and we were wide awake and our 2 children for all of it, the knock on affect = 2 v tired, grumpy and upset children the next day/ 2days after, amazing!! All the bar staff & wait staff operate on a tip system and barely speak English.... even though we would get there bang on 7 when the restaurant opened, all the best seating areas (where you get most breeze - its sooo hot) outside would have no one sat there but the wait staff would put out a bottle of water and a bottle of wine making it look like people were there when they weren't so you wouldnt sit there, so their fav guests (the ones tipping them) could get the best seats later??!!!! Same went for the bars, you could be standing there for 5-10mins and then some German guy walks up and gets served straight away?! I've been on holiday every year and a lot of all inclusives for the last 15 years and NEVER been to a hotel that does this? Loved the hotel and facilities themselves but i've been to so many far nicer more friendly places that never behave like this so i wouldn't go back.More
