Not as good as last year but still very good
Traveled on the 30th April for 2 weeks , went on the Thomson dreamliner in their premium club, reasonable flight but i thought that the in flight entertainment was sadly lacking and needs to be updated or changed. Cabin service was good and arrived at Mauritius airport a trifle early. Straight off the plane and through immigration and health, and so to the baggage carousel, cases arrives within 5 mins ( another advantage of premium club ) but were ominously soaking wet on the outside, on exiting customs i managed to have a look outside at the weather, absolutely pouring down, picked up taxi and had a good drive to the hotel. Checked in quickly and were then lead by one of the reception staff along a maze of rear corridors to the Superior sea vies rooms overlooking the middle bay. although the vast majority of this journey was undercover still managed to get quite wet despite the umbrella we had been issued with. Room OK, i know that they are having a massive refurb but the room only needed a little TLC and basic maintenance to be 1st class. Unfortunately it rained and rained and rained for our first 5 fays (not the hotels fault i know but very little to or places to go, apart from your room when the weather is inclement.) Food almost as good as last year with the kitchen, (buffet), outscoring the other restaurants, I thought that the menu at the Beach was inferior to last year Service generally excellent, apart from the Bar, where the majority of the work appeared to be being done by one or 2 young ladies, whilst the male staff only seemed to want to congregate around the computer terminal talking ??? Needs some swift action buy supervisory staff, but despite complaining nothing seemed to be done. Viewed the upgraded rooms that are on show, and they seemed very nice if a bit "glitzy" but not sure if they will be worth the 78% increase in cost that the staff were mentioning All in all a good holiday at a good hotel with by and large excellent service Service on the flight back was abysmal with one male steward trying to service the entire premium club cabin on this own had to wait 45 mins for a cold drink which i though to be unacceptable. i feel that this coupled with the extremely early departure time may make us think twice about Thomson and possibly use another carrierMore

Incredible honeymoon stay
I won't go on at length as many other people have covered the many reasons why this is such an amazing place to stay. The thing that will stick me with me is how the staff manage to make you feel special, even though they are dealing with 100s of guests, every day of the year! The send off when we left made us feel like long lost friends! That attitude, and the wonderfully friendly nature of the staff, is very difficult to fake - especially when dealing with so many guests all the time. What that tells me - and this shines through - is that all the staff (including management) take incredible pride in the service they provide. There are lots of special touches, and the Lux brand certainly lived up to its name. Of course it's not cheap, it's a 5* resort in Mauritius. Some people have been moaning about the drinks prices, which are expensive but no more so than what you'd get in a London bar. We had B&B, which worked well for us as my wife doesn't drink and we had lunch elsewhere some days. I hear the hotel is now undergoing an extensive refurbishment - no doubt it will be even better! My husband and I were return guests and visited again for 3 weeks in May to celebrate my 70th birthday. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left they couldn't do enough for us. The staff are amazing and the hotel is beautiful. We stayed in a junior suite with a wonderful view of the ocean. We were delighted with all the restaurants, the Banyan was very cooling under the trees at lunchtime as the weather was very hot also The Beach as the breeze flowed gently in from the sea with great views of the sea plane coming in to land. I did the seaplane trip on my birthday, what an experience! The ambience of the restaurants in the evening was very relaxing. We also experienced Cinema Paradiiso the cinema under the stars which was great. The watersports were good and we used this facility every day. We had several visits to the spa for massages - so relaxing. We would like to thank all the staff once again for an amazing holiday but to mention a few, Diren, Ramsammy, Nadege and Sweety in The Kitchen, Jean-Phillipe and staff in The Beach, Nikesh inThe Abalone, Reedo, Kumar and Naiken who looked after us so well when relaxing on the beach, Roshni always had a smile when we went for an ice cream and our evening room maid Vanessa, who we also had last year, an extremely pleasant lady who made us some fantastic flower and towel displays every night and thanks to my pilot on the seaplane Ziad for making me feel so relaxed also thank you Elena for arranging our trips. We wish you the best of luck with your renovations and can't wait to return to your little paradise.More
Amazing hotel & excellent service
Went to Mauritius alone to celebrate my 31st birthday. I had the best experience at the hotel! The staff and management went out of their way to make my birthday dinner a special and memorable one. Top class service and the hotel was very clean👌🏾More

We have been to some beautiful places and hotels but this one beats the lot. Right from arriving at the hotel we have never felt so welcome as we did here. The staff bend over backwards to keep you happy and looked after. The food was absolutely great whether it was in the Italian, Asian or the buffet. Must mention Reevoo the beach manager couldn't do enough for you, cleaning your sunglasses, remaking your sun lounger while you were swimming. Also the four girls who kept us laughing all the time (sorry I can't remember their names). I would recommend anybody to go there it was such a great holiday. Hopefully will return one day.More
