A good pool scene and a handy setting close to the beach – just a couple of reasons this big, bright hotel wins the vote.
This place is just a 10-minute walk from Salou’s beach, one of the best sandy stretches on the Costa Dorada. It’s in a lively little sea port, with a raft of shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
The Calypso comes with lots of activities. There are 2 main pools for starters. The 10-pin bowling alley wins plaudits on TripAdvisor, too.

Good 3 star hotel in a good location...
We stopped here as a party of six having 2 triple rooms in Calypso 2 over looking the pool. We stopped from 06.09.14 to 13.09.14. with a Jet2 package The rooms were fine and cleaned very well daily. All the staff were very friendly and would go out of their way to help you. We were lucky as it was the last week of the Al Fresco restaurant and we had some lovely fresh breakfasts and lunches there most days, using the down stairs dinning room mainly in the evenings. The entertainment staff put on some good shows and are well worth watching, the only downside to the entertainment was they had a Flamenco show on one night and they were awful. no problems though as after 5 minutes we left and went down town for a few drinks in the local bars. We had a really good week but on the Friday before we came home we were all sunbathing by the top pool with some of our party actually in the pool having a cool off when it was noticed that some dirty disgusting person had done a number 2 in the pool. The staff quickly shut the pool down and tapped it off so cleansing could take place, It remained closed until the following day when we were due to fly home. So all in all we all had a great holiday with nice food good staff and at a fair price. We would stop at the Calypso again some time in the future.More

Overall good hotel
Just returned from a weeks stay in September. When we checked in it was late so there was no waiting about got seen to straight away and given our room key. However we where not given any other information about the hotel. Food breakfast and lunch was rather the same everyday with just a slight difference but always something to eat. Dinner was good always so something diffent to have every night . The hotel was very helpful when it came to booking tickets for excursions and parks as there was quiet a lot of this that could be booked from the hotel which was a lot easier than searching around. Entertainment was great my partner particularly enjoyed the water polo the was on every day so much so that our day usually worked around him play it at 4pm. Only watched a few shows put on by the hotel but from what I seen there was a lot of work put in to to provide a good experience for the customers. Staff at night where very helpful had to make a complaint at the early hours of the morning due to noise and they dealt with the issue straight away . Overall it was a good stay rooms where basic but cleaned every day couldn't complain at them and the hotel is in a good localtion giving access to a wide range of activities. More
I stayed at the Calypso at the end of August/start of September just as the place was really winding down from the Summer period. No complaints about the room or cleanliness (although a "Do Not Disturb" sign might not go amiss to avoid being woken up by the cleaner). My request for a pool view wasn't honoured but there was no guarantee that it would be. The room safe cost €30 but this is a deposit which is refunded in full on check out. The AirCon was pretty effective, which was handy as it could be fairly noisy with the windows open as there is a nightclub a few blocks away, although only open at weekends. The food was perfectly adequate for a 3* hotel, with a decent amount of choice in the main restaurant. Plenty of salads with a bit of variation each time, often carvery meats on offer etc. The full bar available in the restaurant for all inclusive guests isn't something I've seen in other AI hotels. The al fresco snacks available all day were excellent, barbecued to order, although the wasps were a nuisance. The bars themselves were the most relaxed I've seen at an AI hotel, no "one drink at at time" nonsense, and people were regularly coming away from the bar with more drinks than they could carry towards 11pm when the AI ended. The bar prices after 11 were comparable with bars in the town itself, €2.50 for a pint of San Miguel for example. The staff worked stupidly long hours but seemed cheerful enough. Entertainment was excellent, the in-house shows were very well produced, and visiting shows such as the Beatles tribute band were also great. The main downside to the hotel is the location. It's just off the main strip but at one end of it, so it's a fair walk to get anywhere.More

amazing hotel recommend anytime
Amazing hotel.. Turned up after a 6am flight first thing was told to go get breakfast. Loved the warm welcome on first time abroad. Looking about the place I hoped we were in caylpso 1 building not 2 as 2 looked little council for me. The staff during our stay were continually friendly and supportive they were perfect as a team in everyway giving the feeling they actually work together to ensure the customer has a enjoyable experience. Even managed to get security to say hello on one day which was an achievement. The pool was clean and well presented and the food was top notch. Now there are some people moaning about entertainments being on late but has it occurred when your on holiday your not there to sleep through it and being in spain it is the walk of life unlike britian.. The room was maintained to a very high standard daily... would recommend as ideal hotel for a magical first time abroad so much so booking next holiday in benidorm at same chain of hotel.More
