A good pool scene and a handy setting close to the beach – just a couple of reasons this big, bright hotel wins the vote.
This place is just a 10-minute walk from Salou’s beach, one of the best sandy stretches on the Costa Dorada. It’s in a lively little sea port, with a raft of shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
The Calypso comes with lots of activities. There are 2 main pools for starters. The 10-pin bowling alley wins plaudits on TripAdvisor, too.

food was disgusting!
stayed at this hotel for 10 days, staff were really helpful, rooms were not bad, comfy beds, cleaners in everyday cleaning, food let this hotel down big time! food was absolutely disgusting, dinner times was much worse, near the end of my holiday i had to start going out for dinner, and sometimes breakfast! this hotel is allocated in a good place, very close to the main strip, and about a 10 minute walk to the main beach. entertainment wasnt good aswell, the kids little party, started at 9pm and the adults started at 10pm/10.30. there wasnt much entertainment for my 14 year old daughter as it was all stuff for children. also school kids where there running about at all time in the morning which was a disgrace.More

on arrival allocated level floor when cleary stated needed low floor, took 24hrs to sort this, was asked to vacate room at 10am for new room ready at 10.30, ,my hubby sat in lobby till 1.30 waiting with luggage, The entertainment was good but too late ,kids disco at 9 ,then adult entertainment 10pm- 10.30, by this time my kids were wacked out. The food has to be the worst ever , luke warm, bland, towards the end of my holiday i couldnt bear the smell of the restaurant, thank god for the snack bar, rooms ok .comfy, bathroom shabby. School kids every where on trips, would i stay again "no"More

A great all inclusive package, you can not go hungry.
have just had a ten day stay in room 203, main building. We stayed here 25 yrs ago & since then another building has been added which overlooks the children's pool & main animation area. Our room was basic but very clean and overlooked the main pool. We had sun from mid morning till late at night, this was a bonus if you like yo sit on the balcony in the evening. The room had air con, which is constantly on unless you open the balcony doors & this was free. The maid service was daily and excellent. The food was varied & hot. Restaurant open for breakfast, dinner& evening meal. Also an outdoor eating area open all day for snacks, salads, burgers, chicken n chips. You can not go hungry at the Calypso! The tea & coffee machines in restaurant & outdoor food court are great! All staff were friendly & approachable, the animation team work their socks off. A large adult pool, a children's pool & also a baby pool. Plenty of sun beds but as are plastic, no padding a little u comfy for all day (buy a cheap lilo to put on it). This is a family hotel & even Spanish school trips stay here so lots of children but is a great hotel for families as drinks, food and ice cream is available all day till 11pm (that's when all inc ends) The rooms do not have hair dryers, fridges or tea & coffee making facilities. Not a problem as we take a travel kettle/hair dryer. The rooms have TVs with limited channels as you usually find. The use of safe was free we just left â¬30 deposit for key, you can also borrow irons/hair dryers for a deposit, all were refundable when item was returned. All in all we had a good stay at the Calypso and would stay again.More

What I liked. The staff are excellent especially the entertainment guys. Well done. We paid 30 euros for a safe which was returned in full when we checked out. We went AI and the Al Fresco terrace was lovely, nice to have breakfast there and have your eggs freshly cooked. You could pop up and make a toastie, have a burger, grilled chicken, steak and help yourself to the extras from 11 to 6pm. You will be invited to have an evening meal (which you have to book a time) it was quite nice.Although there is plenty to choose from in the restaurant, the food was mostly cold. . We had a hairdryer in our room but not all the rooms have them. If you are AI you obviously get free drinks, but bear in mind you are entitled to have premium drinks at a 50% discount. We had to bring this to the managers attention, who then informed the bar staff!!! Bottle of Magners 4.70 costs 2.35 euros. What I didn't like. Too many school children, there were coaches full arriving all week. The queue at mealtimes went from the restaurant and up the stairs. The pool in Calypso 1 does not allow lilo's, or smoking in the area, apparently the Management want to keep it relaxed and friendly, didn't say anything to the Spanish ladies who went topless???More

Excellent pool and staff, good location, but packed out!!
We have just returned yesterday from a weeks all inclusive. Overall, we had a great holiday travelling with two 17 year olds. Lovely pool, clean and sunbeds always available. About a 10 minute walk to the main beach, or down a steep incline to the smaller one.It was so hot we ended up catching the tourist train, which is 3 euro's each and then a taxi back, about 6 euros. Food, not so good, but plenty of choice. The outside grill was great and we had breakfast there most days. Fresh omelettes and bacon grilled to order. We ate out in the evenings as needed something solid, rather than the slop served in the main restaurant. Air con was not very good throughout the hotel and in 34 degree heat was essential! Please visit the main beach, fantastic bars & restaurants and 5 Euros for a sunbed! Spent whole days there! xMore
