Hotel Calypso

A good pool scene and a handy setting close to the beach – just a couple of reasons this big, bright hotel wins the vote.

This place is just a 10-minute walk from Salou’s beach, one of the best sandy stretches on the Costa Dorada. It’s in a lively little sea port, with a raft of shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep.

The Calypso comes with lots of activities. There are 2 main pools for starters. The 10-pin bowling alley wins plaudits on TripAdvisor, too.

Ok hotel!!!

I was at this hotel with my husband and 2 children aged 7 and 9 for the October holidays. On arrival the reception staff were lovely. The room was disappointing as there were 4 single beds jammed together leaving very little room to move. Once our clothes we're put away there was no where to put our empty cases. The patio door was broken and wouldn't close but this was fixed promptly. The decor in the room was tired but we spent very little in the room so it didn't bother us too much. The rooms were cleaned daily. The pool snack bar was ok especially the chef cooking burgers etc fresh, but the things that we're sitting had been there a while and was a bit hard. The lady in the snack bar was lovely. The breakfast was good but on the day we were leaving we were told the dining room was open for a continental breakfast but there was no milk for the cereal and no butter for toast. The dinner consisted mostly of veal and fish which didn't bother me as I am not a fussy eater. The dinner did improve when there were themed nights. The entertainment was good at night but to warn anyone going with children that if you haven't booked through Thomson or first choice then you children will not be able to use some of the kids club facilities. The hotel is in a good location for walking to the beach and is close to portaventura. There were lots of school trips which made the dining room very busy at certain times.More

Decent hotel

We arrived 4 hours before the hotel check in time and they let the majority of our party of 8 into their rooms as soon as we arrived. The rooms were very clean and pretty spacious. The food was ok, not necessarily always my taste but for people that are a little bit less fussy for me it would be fine. The snack bar outside was very good (sometimes better than the buffet food) as they barbecued chicken outside and steak. The entertainment was pretty good too. Not sure I would stay again but that was because there wasn't enough things to do in Salou rather than the hotel itself.More

Absolutely brilliant holiday

Me, my wife and our 3 kids stayed for 2 weeks from 23/9/14-7/10/14, and we absolutely loved it. The food was great and there was always something to eat (even for the fussy eaters) either from the restaurant or the snack bar. We found all the staff to be helpful and pleasant and never had any problems with any of them. The evening entertainment was superb and very enjoyable. Anton, Agata, mafalda and CJ kept kids entertained all day and night, these four entertainers are an absolute credit to this hotel, as they were great with everyone (even after doing the long hours they did) and they would always stop and have a chat. Overall I would definitely come here again and I would absolutely recommend to everybody. More

Barry H,

Great service,great staff

Just returned today from Salou today,i can't fault the service and staff at this hotel.we arrived last saturday morning at aout 9.20am completed the check in formality's and of course our room was not available so we were invited to go to breakfast and use the facilities of the hotel until room was ready. The rooms were a little bit better than we expected and were lovely and clean ,the only down thing for me was the television had only bbc world news and a true story movie was reasonable the entertainment team put on some good shows including an abba show also a michael jackson tribute they rehearsed nearly all afternoon for these shows and should be congratulated on their hard work. I would definitely stay here again great value for money.More

Hotel Calypso, Salou.

Quite close to the beaches and shops. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, and normally, this tends to mean buying some meals out when you get bored with the hotel food. Not so, in this case. The food was excellent, and really varied, so there was always something to eat, at any time of day. The in house entertainment was really good. Some for the kids, and some for the oldies. A different show each night, and always of a standard you'd be happy to pay for at home. Rooms were clean, and well looked after, and all the public areas were, also. A mix of all ages, but not at all noisy or hectic. We had a comfortable, relaxing holiday. Highly recommended. Steve. Derbyshire, UK.More
