A good pool scene and a handy setting close to the beach – just a couple of reasons this big, bright hotel wins the vote.
This place is just a 10-minute walk from Salou’s beach, one of the best sandy stretches on the Costa Dorada. It’s in a lively little sea port, with a raft of shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
The Calypso comes with lots of activities. There are 2 main pools for starters. The 10-pin bowling alley wins plaudits on TripAdvisor, too.

Last year we came to hotel calypso with a large group of my husbands family ! We were impressed with the food , our room was always cleaned to a big standard, a bit dissapointed that the all inclusive stops at 11 and not 12 like most places but most of all we were amazed by the entertainment our children were entertained from morning til night.... The staff who were dancing and entertaining them are totally amazing.. To this day we still say juicy juicy bye bye all the time and dun dun da dun dun..... Dun Dun! We throughly enjoyed it that much we have booked to come this may with my family 7adults and 6 children! We literally can not wait to come back looking forward to see you all again in 4 weeks time ðMore
Calli Andrew M,
We visited in Oct 2014. I wrote a review for holiday company (Thomson) at the time, but decided I would add one here. The weather was fabulous when we went. Therefore we spent many days just sitting on the beach and swimming in sea. Great location for shops , bars and the beach x2. We went end of season so clubs were closed. A visit to Port Aventura theme park is a must. It's a short bus ride away. The bus stop is at the end of the road about 5 min walk. Food was very good. The choices were wide and varied. We were all inclusive and took advantage of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Which was always given with a smile. The games room required updating when we were there. The room was clean , but basic. The beds were terrible. Camp bed and was very uncomfortable. Walls were thin, but did not bother me as I am not a light sleeper. This was a cheap holiday booking. Offered value for money. I would not be happy to pay more than I did. Great location as easy access to transport and shops etc.More
Miss p charlton
This was not a good hotel we was all put in one room when we booked 2 rooms complained and was told we had to pay another £320 for another room we refused and for the first night stayed in one room the next day spoke to management and with a lot of arguing got 2 rooms we went for our evening meal at 9pm as soon as it opened was open till 10-30pm we had to que up and was still waiting to go in restaurant at 10-05 that was every meal time and when we did get in restaurant at to que for our food and was pushed and shoved out the way by the Spanish people the reseption people were rude and unsociable the entertainer was all in Spanish so we could not understand any off it they had karaoke one night and my grandaughter went up and asked if she could sing and was told they had no English songs they did not cater for the English at all we was treated really horrible and could not wait to leave we was nocked off chairs when entertainment came on because all the Spanish wanted to get to the front and to top it all up went to reception on day of leaving and asked for the key to luggage room and was told it was broken so we had to sit with our cases all morning was there 2 weeks and every day luggage room was open but only for the Spanish it seems when English need to use it not working would never never go there againMore
All night noise
Just returned home from a lovely holiday to salou but that's not the story of this hotel. We had all night noise for our whole stay. Teenager school kids having parties in rooms and corridors , I reported this to security but did to have any reflection on their further behaviour also there is a night club behind the second block which starts at 12AM and does to finish till 6AM and when the all night clubbers leave there is nothing but singing and shouting. If you would like a peaceful holiday this is not the hotel for you. Also the all inclusive is a con as we were given plastic cups and made to feel second best, if you were to go up and pay you were given a glasses, also there is a separate queue for all inclusives only at the bar and you get served last - paying customers get priority most of the bar staff were rude and unfriendly as when we asked to have a glass we were spoken to in a rude and unhelpful manor. So this hotel is not the 3 star service they claim provide.More
