Hotel Calypso

A good pool scene and a handy setting close to the beach – just a couple of reasons this big, bright hotel wins the vote.

This place is just a 10-minute walk from Salou’s beach, one of the best sandy stretches on the Costa Dorada. It’s in a lively little sea port, with a raft of shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep.

The Calypso comes with lots of activities. There are 2 main pools for starters. The 10-pin bowling alley wins plaudits on TripAdvisor, too.

Enjoyed our stay!

Really enjoyed our stay at the calypso. The good points, at the top of the Main Street, close to everything you could want or need. Pools were great albeit a little cold, but expected this time of year. Rooms cleaned daily and ideal size etc. staff were lovely and friendly, couldn't do enough for us and our 2 year old. Good selection of snacks and drinks available through the the day. The not so good points. We were placed in a block where the 3 floors beneath and opposite us were occupied by what felt like hundreds of school children/teenagers that didn't have much respect for the other people in the hotel. This I know is not the hotels fault, but would be ideal if they placed families away from this area from the start. The food was ok, toward the end of the week it seemed to get worse, my partner will eat anything, but even he struggled the last few days. And the last thing would be the children's disco, it didn't start until 9pm-by that time most of the kids are ready for bed. Obviously this is all based on my own opinions, but on a whole a good holiday.More

Speklesdani,

If you love entertainment, this is the place!

We stayed here in 2014 during the summer holidays, and think it's overpriced for what you get! But isn't everything in August! The entertainment staff really make this place! The food in the buffet is awful! Avoid it. The Al a carte restaurant is fantastic but you can only use this a number of times, invitations are presented to you on arrival, and are dependant upon the number of you party, in the day, the Al a Carte restaurant is more of a grill, and cooks plenty of food to order all day, so you can avoid the buffet easly. The rooms are basic, defiantly only 3 star, and if you have 3 people in a room, there's not a lot of space left. It's a long treck from this hotel to the beach, at least 15 minutes, so if your going, make it an all day thing! As I said before the entrainment staff a are amazing, and so are the waiters, but some of the bar staff and especially the reception staff are quite rude!More

Kelly H,

Avoid this hotel

This hotel is massively over crowded. The walls are paper thin. The food was vile and we are not fussy eaters. We lived on chips most of the time rest of the time we ate out.. Infant we spent most of our time out of the place and in our friends hotel. Would stop in the oasis hotel down the road next time.. Salous a nice place and worth going to portaventura theme park it's brilliant.. Also a nice little friendly pub called the rose and crown look out for it More

Donna R,

DONT GO!!!

Stayed here with my youth group in may. May as well of been a nursing home so Many pensioners walking around.no activities for younger people except discos which only seem to play Spanish songs??? If your interested in dancing there's a ball room dance which is filled with pensioners. Food was terrible and cold.all we ate for the whole holiday was soggy chips. you've to queue for about 30 minutes to get food. Apparently there's wifi in the bar but its so bad. You've to pay for WiFi from a box. Rooms were too small and the beds were pop up beds and all pushed together. Our toilet wouldn't flush. There seemed to be two sections in the hotel one for youth clubs and the other for elders. No couples or younger families were seen there. I advise you don't go in may!!!More
