The Club Magic Life Kalawy’s bag is full of tricks. To begin with, the hotel is set on a private beach. This stretch of sand sidles up to a natural lagoon that’s ideal for watersports – you can try everything from diving to stand-up paddling.
There’s a really fun pool scene here. There are 4 pools to choose from, including one with 3 big waterslides, and an indoor one that’s accompanied by a relaxing whirlpool bath.
Food is served in 4 restaurants. There’s a buffet set up in one of them and the chefs cook dishes to order in front of you. The other eateries are à la carte and the menus range from Thai to Italian.
Regular visitors to this hotel rave about the entertainment. Evening shows are staged in the on-site amphitheatre. If you want a big night out, you can head to the disco, which doesn’t close until the early hours.

All we ever wanted...
We have just returned form Magic Life Kalawi and yes it was a magic experience. All that we wanted and expected from this hotel was there and even beyond expectations. To clarify the above: it was January, cold weather in western Europe, maybe not the coldest winter ever but the sun as usual far above the clouds. The festive December has just ended and we had some holidays to enjoy. We are both sun loving and wanted to go somewhere hot for a week only. I guess that automatically excluded the Caribbean since two days are spent only on flights. Turkey, Cyprus, Greece and Canary Islands were a bit chilly for a sunbathing, so we decided on Egypt. I should say we were lucky also about that since temperatures were higher than the averages for January even there. We enjoyed a full week sunbathing and swimming in the sea without a problem /daily temperatures were about 26-28 degrees/. About the selection of the hotel: it was offered as a hotel with a lot of animation and activities. And there they were all: scuba diving, canoeing, stand up paddling, surfing, tennis, table tennis, mini soccer, beach volleyball, nordic walking, aerobic, aqua fitness, step aerobics, belly-butt-tights workout, pilates, zumba, functional body, easy step aerobics, sunset meditation, bodywork, backfit, stretching, boules, shuffleboard, archery, kangoo jumps, line dance, mountain bike and more, and more and more. This was exactly what we wanted. We did not want a hotel in the middle of a big city just to sleep there, we wanted a hotel to stay for a week without the need of being elsewhere out of it. The animation and daily activities were so rich in variety that it was not even possible to do them all at ones. Evening entertainment was always great and we both acknowledge the efforts the team is spending on preparing all dances and still having time during the day to lead the aerobic sessions. Everybody from the staff was friendly, the room was always tidy and spotless. We had a sea view room and enjoyed the sunrise every morning at around 06:30a.m. Apart from that we were only 1hr daily in the room just to shower and change ☺ The food was all delicious and I would say far above expected for an all inclusive hotel. There are 3 thematic restaurants needing reservations but we really enjoyed only the Egyptian one. After trying out the Mediterranean and Thai ones we sneaked for a desert back to the Main restaurant:) We are both meat eaters so I would say that there was wide variety of fish - at least 3 different kinds per day and also aways choices of chicken, veal, beef, lamb and NO PORK /about what we were certainly happy/. All kitchen staff was really attentive and they used to remember even how we would like our eggs for breakfast. Sou Chef and Executive Chef were always there for the guest and willing to assist with our meal requirements. I should mention that for vegetarians and vegans the choice was not so wide and would suggest more on the raw food variety and a fresh juices station that would be wonderful of course. We are not a family with kids so I have nothing to comment on the chidren care but all the rest was perfect. We would deinitelly return if we get the chance and I woud highly recommend the hotel as an ACTIVE VACATION for body lovers. Their combination SPORT & GREAT FOOD is more than enough for the body people. On the other hand there are few excursions offered around Egypt with different thematics if you feel bored staying only at the same place. About the German orientation – Magic Life is German anyways. We came from Holland and weren’t missing the Dutch. The only thing I would point out is that for an entertaiment manager one should do his speaches not only in German but also in English at least. Also many of the staff memebers tended to answer back in German instead of English but we guess this had to do with their language skills or perhaps out of habbit. About the location – well the hotel has its own beach and coral reef that is great to explore. If you go to Soma Bay would be more or less the same, just that there are 8 hotels and not only one. We definitelly did not miss the going out.... we had hardly had some time left to sleep. We both came back home fit, lost weight, got some tan, were happy from the active holiday we had after the winter lazyness at home and far far from being bored. We stayed for a week and I could easily stay for two at Magic Life Kalawy.More

Shame on you Thompsons
Thompsons cancelled my holiday to this hotel just one week before we were due to go! We decided to book directly with the hotel and we are so pleased we did! We had a fantastic time. The pools were lovely and clean. The staff friendly. The food excellent. Kids club wonderful (I can't speak more highly of the ladies running it - Tamara & Miki). The hotel is very isolated but i loved the feeling of being in the middle of the desert. It is such a shame Thompsons stopped the brits from coming here. The staff love the English and I would go back here in a heartbeat! Well done Magic lifeMore

Returned from 2 weeks, and can highly recommend this hotel should Thompsons return there! Set in beautiful grounds with excellent beach front via a lagoon which gently sloops into the sea and the fish swimming around you. Plenty of sunbeds. Would highly recommend the beach restaurant which is also one of the 3 a la carte restaurants in the evening. The rooms are all very good and of a good standard. We had a garden room overlooking the slide pool. Eagles roost on top of the buildings in the late afternoon and evenings. The hotel is predominentley German guests and from our point of view the food was slightly to their taste, although don't let this put you off as there was a vast choice and also the 3 a la carte to choose from. It all follows the same format as Magic Life in Sharm el Sheik. The hotel is very isolated and is surrounded by arid countryside, and its at least a 90min transfer from the airport, but the facilities on site are vast and there is loads to do, or you can just relax around one of the 3 pools or the beach. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.More

THOMSONS - WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!!!!!!
We have recently returned from Magic Life Kalawy Imperial where we stayed for two weeks and I think that, hand on heart, I can say that it is the best all round hotel that we have stayed in, in Egypt, having been more than 20 times. The rooms were very nice with comfortable beds, plenty of space for clothes etc. mini bar, restocked daily with soft drinks and 2 bottles of water, nice shower room with constant hot water. The bars had a good selection of drinks including a cocktail menu and nice late coffee with different flavours. There was a cafe for afternoon coffee and cakes which made a change. All of the bars have comfortable seating, I was amazed to be sitting in a three piece suite in the main bar, which by the way is open 24 hours and is still in the All Inclusive. The food in the Restaurants is amazing. I have never seen such variety, it took a good 5 minutes to walk around to see what was on offer before deciding what to eat, all the food is cooked in the dining room, so many live cooking stations. One day we had lobster, another Ostrich, and huge fried prawns from the pan. What more can you ask for? There was also 3 other a la carte restaurants which could be booked at no extra charge. I took advantage of the windsurfing which was included and with the help of Aiden (sorry not sure how to spell his name) the windsurfing teacher, I got the hang of it by the end of the holiday, it was great fun. Hubby snorkelled nearly every day and there is a great variety of fish to see, others have commented on turtles but he didn't see any this holiday. There was a lot of other activities going on with a full entertainment crew. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, I must mention Islam and Taha in the main Restaurant as they were always there to show us to a table and keen to speak in English, we were in the minority, it was mainly Germans but they all appeared friendly towards us. Also Sama and Mohamed in the main bar who kept my husband supplied with an iced glass for his beer. I could keep on about how good every thing was but must finish with the fact that THOMSONS PULLED THIS HOTEL FROM THEIR HOLIDAYS WHILST WE WERE THERE. As previous reviewers have stated we were the last English people to stay at the hotel. It is such a shame as I would definitely have returned to this hotel and happily recommended it to friends who regularly holiday in Egypt. Maybe Thomson would like to explain why they removed this hotel from their list. All I can say is if you can book it independently give it a go.More
Excellent Hotel (shame about Thomsons!)
Impossible to add to previous reviews! A lovely hotel set in beautiful gardens, with excellent beach and pools. The main restaurant offers the most extensive range of food I have ever come across in Egypt! Plus there are 3 a la carte restaurants you can use.The staff,as expected, are very friendly and helpful and well deserve their tips. It is a very isolated hotel but it offers the choice of either chilling out or taking advantage of the many sporting activities which are part of the all-inclusive package. The free wi-fi is an added bonus and works not just inside the main building but also out on the terraces. We chose this hotel because of the excellent TA reviews and the award of a Certificate of Excellence 2013.We were also reassured by the fact that this was a Thomson Platinum Hotel, which means that over 90% of Thomson customers have rated it 'good' or 'excellent'. Thomsons also stated that it would be Platinum hotel until May 2014.As a result we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week holiday here and planned to return next year. However Thomsons in their wisdom and probably their own self interest have chosen to pull out of their contract with the Hotel, and there are no longer any English people staying there. The only way you can now stay at this excellent hotel is to book direct with Magic Life and then arrange your own flights and transfers."Shame on you Thomsons"More
