The pools take most of the applause here – there are 18 altogether, plus a quartet of bonus waterparks.
Formerly known as the Iberotel Aquamarine, this hotel is huge. It comes with a beach – a private number decked out with thatched-roof daybeds – and a jaw-dropping 18 pools.
The pools come in all shapes and sizes, 1 just for adults, others geared towards kids – plus there are 3 waterparks. Food-wise, the numbers stack up, too, with a couple of buffet restaurants and 4 à la cartes.

Lovely 2 weeks almost perfect
Well, I'm sat here on my last day at the Jaz Aquamarine hotel, wishing I didn't have to go home, however, like all good things, they must come to an end. What can I say about Jaz Aquamarine? Here goes, a beautiful hotel, maintained to the highest standard with 18 swimming pools. Palm trees around the pools, plenty of sunbeds with shades for all visitors, even in the peak season. Swim up rooms, Well maintained beach within 5 minutes walk from the room. Kite surfing on the beach with lessons available. Other watersports like banana rides, snorkeling, you name it. Entertainment at night is improving by the day it seems with the animation team coming up with new acts. Free Wifi is available in the bar, so the kids and adults can catch up with what is going on in the world. It's a good idea to take some cards or download some games on your ipads/tablets etc, just for the evenings. The staff at the hotel are amazing! Can't fault them at all, such a friendly bunch, very attentive and can't do enough for you. The waiters bring drinks to you around the pool and the beach. What more could you ask for? Even in the blistering heat, sweating they look happy to serve you. The Thompson reps were very helpful and well organised. Everything is well planned and they are on hand to sort out any issues you may have. Meals are the reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5. Maybe being picky there as the variety is somewhat limited in the main restaurants. However there is 4 A La Carte restaurants that you need to book which specialise in Asian, Italian, sea food and Lebanise. Booking the restaurants is by a touch screen in the lobby, easy to do but you have to be up early to make sure you get a reservation on the limited seats available. We managed to book all 4 in the two weeks. I strongly recommend learning a few Arabic words before you go, as the staff seem to warm to you making an effort. I spent 2.5 years in Saudi so already had a head start. Simple thankyou's (shukran), and yes (Aiwah), go a long way. To sum up, great time had by all and definitely going to come again. I would highly recommend the Uktimate Dessert Experience, quadbiking and Dune buggy's were great! Thanks to all the lively staff who made the visit a pleasure. Terry BoxallMore
Terrible TERRIBLE food will not return
The only thing about this hotel that you can call 5* is the hotel itself, the building and the grounds, everything else such as the food, drinks, management attitude etc are no more than 2/3*. If you look on trip advisor and your own preferred feedback websites, you will see that many bad reviews are now on there, stating the hotel as a 1* Details: Buffet food: selection same every day with a different name. Terrible terrible terrible!!!! Fried fish or dry chicken. Many salads which taste nothing like they should. Hot food always cold or barely warm which I imagine is why so many people get the runs which the hotel try to play off as the "Pharoes curse " as it is so common.....no it's either a food or water bacterial infection. The place is like a screaming cattle market with mostly dirty tables and no cutlery available. The evening has another buffet option called 4 corners which is again terrible- all food is basically the same- cold with no individual flavours. You will be pulling your hair out after day 1. Extra charges: this is not all inclusive. Extra charges for basic items you would expect for 5* eg fresh orange juice, £2/ glass, children's beach party £15 each per ticket to stand on the beach. I know Branded drinks were not included but a rediculous price of £15 for a large baileys is again TERRIBLE. Additional beach activities on the hotels grounds you expect to pay around £25-40 each for eg kite surfing etc were.....wait for it.... â¬840 for the 4 of us - yes I kid you not, we did not do it. The hotel also sanction touts on their grounds and they constantly harass you into buying overpriced massages etc, you will want to strangle someone by day 2. The management do not care about any of this. Their attitude is they need to satisfy many different nationalities pallets so the food is "dulled down" but if only they talked to their waiting staff or animation teams they would find out as we did that nobody from any nationality likes the food. Finally the 4 small a la cart restaurants . Impossible to book as they only ever allow 50% occupancy despite what they say and there are 1000 people trying to avoid the buffets...you do the maths Eg You get 1 visit to the Italians which you have to somehow book 2 days in advance, absolute joke. All 4 of us returned home hungry, disappointed, with bad stomachs and will never ever return to this hotel. More

This hotel is just stunning! I never want to leave every time I go there, staff are very friendly and all the facilities you'll ever need are available. There are loads of pools, each with its own different style that'll just ensure you have an enjoyable stay. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the slides are just incredible. The food booths around all day are absolutely great and the food is of great quality. Definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to go to HurghadaMore

Stunning hotel especially when lit up at night. Everything really clean and well maintained especially the pools. Our room was lovely too really good size.staff were lovely and all really helpful especially the reception team who sorted a couple of minor issues in minutes. Food was a bit hit and miss in the main buffet as. It was so busy so we stuck to the 4 corners. A la carte Italian and Asian were very nice. Enjoyed the water slides but also nice quiet areas too...really something for everyone and we had a great time.More

Nice place that could be better
This is our second visit to this resort but under the new name JAZ. The place has been improved in some ways, the number of pools has increased (18), and new resturants and aquamarines are opened. Cons: -The place is crowded and service is a bit slow. - Beach: there is not much to do there. The tide stays till near sunset..It is not suitable for swimming, snorkling or diving. - Resturants: Food at the main resturant is not various. Snacks are just fine except at the LA PERLA where you can really enjoy a snack instead of lunch at the main resturant. -Animation shows: Boring except the saturday cabaret show at the theater. Guys of the team are talented, active and very friendly with guests....the girls are just doing their job, they lack the spirit. - Kids club: BORING even to kids. The supervisors are polite but they rarely interact with the kids. It is not fun at all. - There is no wifi at rooms, though each room has 150 mb/ stay. -The resort has electricity issues since our previous visit. However, it has been improved and lights went out only day in the week of our stay. More
