Jaz Aquamarine

The pools take most of the applause here – there are 17 altogether, plus a trio of bonus waterparks.

Formerly known as the Iberotel Aquamarine, this hotel is huge. It comes with a beach – a private number decked out with thatched-roof daybeds – and a jaw-dropping 17 pools.

The pools come in all shapes and sizes, some just for adults, others geared towards kids – plus there are 3 waterparks. Food-wise, the numbers stack up, too, with a couple of buffet restaurants and 4 à la cartes.

Jaz Aquamarine

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in from 21st October 2014 through Thomson UK. This is going to be a long review as there is a lot to say and to make is easy I'll break it down. If your after a quick review...I would say this hotel was brilliant and I would definitely recommend it. The room... We had booked a family swim up room and we were very happy with the room. There are two single sofa beds at one end, large shower room in the middle, large wardrobe, safe, counter top with kettle etc and a large king size bed next to the sliding door onto the terrace. This has a railing and gate out to the swim up pool part. The swim up pool is about 0.8 metres deep. We had two complimentary bottles of fizzy pop on arrival and you get two bottles (1.5 litre each) of water each day from housekeeping. Ali was very good and made an extra special towel art for my wife's birthday. He was always eager to please. My only criticism is that the mini-bar is not included in the all inclusive. Now this is a minor point but most other 5* hotels would include this no question. I would expect Thomson platinum to have covered this. The pools... There are more pools than anyone could need. There are smaller, covered children's pools, relaxing pools, pools with slides, pools for activities. Like I say there is a pool for everyone. All of them well looked after and cleaned constantly. There are no lifeguards but plenty of staff on duty, if they see rubbish they pick it up, if they see something they do not like, they address it. The pools are very good. The food... I need to get one moan out of the way. We went to the Italian A La Carte and did not have a good meal. On the other hand my daughter ate from the children's menu and her meal was lovely. We did not enjoy it but others do and it has to suit all people. We took up our concerns with the staff and they were very good about it. We really enjoyed the Asian, Lebanese and the fish A La Carte restaurants. Each one has it's own children's menu and the staff were great. I would recommend each of these three for sure. The staff at these restaurant's are very good and their service impeccable. The Lebanese food first class, as a family we would rate this the best A La Carte restaurant. The main restaurant 'Topaz' was very good for breakfast and lunch. There is plenty of choice for all tastes. We didn't have dinner there so cannot comment. The 'Four Corners' restaurant was good for breakfast and a little quieter than the main restaurant. It had the same options for food. Again we didn't eat dinner there so I cannot comment. The restaurant had theme nights for dinner in the main restaurant. The Spa and gym... So we went to the spa for a massage and it was very good. You have time to enjoy all of the facilities and the staff were very good. They have the fish which nibble at your feet as well which the kids enjoyed a lot. It was a relaxing time. I did go to the gym a few times. Hossan, the instructor, was extremely good. We spoke after my first visit and from there I went back some more and we trained together. He took time to go through some new exercises and trained me well. The grounds.... The hotel grounds are very well looked after and presented. There are always gardener's around cleaning up, pruning and the like. As I say, very good. The hotel overall... Our family had a really lovely holiday. There was plenty to do and see. The waffle station is very busy so be prepared to queue. The staff are all very welcoming and say hello. I did try to learn some basic Arabic phrases which the staff appreciated and they taught me in return how to count. Small gestures go a long way I guess. The overall feel of the hotel is really good quality. The staff at the pool bars and surrounding areas are very friendly and a small tip does go a long way. Ahmed and Soliman were very good near to the relaxing pools. I would definitely recommend the hotel and I would go again without a doubt. There are always going to be ups and downs but the staff work so hard to make sure your holiday is perfect. We were on holiday whilst it was my wife's birthday. We booked the A La Carte fish restaurant for this day. They had put flowers on the table, brought out a cake and put in a lot of effort to make it a special day. They really did go the extra mile. Tracy was excellent as well. She arranged for flowers and some extra bits and pieces for our room. Thomson... I would travel with Thomson again to this hotel. They have put an excellent rep here named Sayed. He works tirelessly for the Thomson customers, if there any issues he will resolve them. If you need help or advice, he will give it. He remembers peoples names and always gives that bit extra to make you feel really happy on the holiday. He has an excellent working relationship with the hotel management and staff. This was a really good holiday and worth the money.More

Superb Hotel and Excellent Service

Just returned from a week's stay at this hotel and were very impressed. Lovely, well maintained grounds and pools - the water slides are also very good, but not really the place to come to for a beach holiday, as the sand is not great. But you have everything you need at the hotel anyway. Some of the hotel pools are warmed and some are not, important thing about this is that families with kids are around the warmer pools, which tends to mean that there are other areas which are very quiet and peaceful. There are also sunbed areas away from the pools if you don't want the pools, plus some very small shallow pools for babies. The food is pretty good in the buffet restaurants, but would highly recommend dining in the a-la-carte restaurants instead. We tried all of them and thought that the Asian was by far the best for both great food and fantastic, attentive service. The Lebanese and Italian were also very good, but we were not so impressed by the Seafood one, which seemed disorganised and rushed, although the food was ok. As a Thomson customer, you can use the Italian once, plus all the others unlimited times. Why anyone would choose to dine in the buffet restaurants instead is beyond me. They were also very child friendly, so I don't understand a previous reviewer saying otherwise. There are also snacks available at the pool bars throughout the day, plus pizza, hot dog stands and amazing waffles, which always have a queue (suggest to management that they open another one!). Drinks are also good, non-alcoholic cocktails or ones with local spirits. Beer was really good, but included wine not so great. Loads of soft drinks available too. We actually did not spend any money at all in the hotel complex, as there is really no need, unless you want branded spirits, better wine or to dip into the mini bar in the room. Hotel rooms were comfortable and really quiet too, very well cleaned by friendly staff. Only thing that needs improving are the pillows, which were mostly lumpy. We did ask for new ones, but they were not much better - suggest they all need replacing. We had a family double room, which had a separate room with two single beds in it, separated by a door, so good for privacy from children. Best thing about the whole resort is the staff, who really do look after you and treat you with respect. Really excellent customer service throughout, nothing is too much trouble. The Thomson rep, Sayed, was also excellent, really helpful and a credit to the company. The Airport! Getting your entry Visa is very easy if you ignore everyone waving at you as you enter the terminal building. Just turn immediately to your left and go to the bank kiosk and pay $25 each (approx. £16), instead of £19 from the other sellers. You get a sticker placed in your passport and then go through passport control to collect luggage and find holiday rep. On leaving to go home, I have not seen such poor security and filthy toilets in an airport, plus the duty free shopping areas also have other bazaar shops, looking something like a jumble sale! The weather towards the end of October was just perfect for us; did not see one cloud all week, temp about 32 degrees and a nice light breeze to cool off a bit. Evenings were not too hot and the efficient air con in the bedrooms meant that we could get a good night's sleep. As our flight was not until after 10pm, we had a late checkout until 6pm, arranged with the hotel reception the day before, at a very reasonable £32. I think I remember seeing this as an option on the Thomson website when booking at £60, but obviously that would guarantee the late checkout, as ours was "subject to availability". I was a bit wary of this huge resort being too much, but its very spacious, well laid out and nothing is too far away. A great holiday in a fantastic resort, would definitely return to Jaz Aquamarine, but for two weeks!More

There are so many pools too some of them heated so you felt like you were in a bath, also 3 water parks which were fun. Drinks were good wine nice and good choice of cocktails .The only part of my holiday I didnt like was coming home a week really is too short , but already on internet looking to book same hotel next year, and hopefully seeing some of the lovely staff members againMore
