Hotel Mares

This one’s a great all-rounder, with fantastic Med views, waterfront restaurants and plenty of bars.

This hotel is blessed with good looks, all the way from the bougainvillea-draped buildings to the mountain backdrop. The Med is mere footsteps away, while both Marmaris and Icmeler are just 5 to 10 minutes’ drive from here.

The sea views aren’t wasted here – the buffet restaurant drinks them in, while the seafood à la carte nudges the waterfront. There’s a great choice of bars, while the pool set-up includes one that comes with slides.

How they treat the British!

PLEASE TAKE 2 MINUTES TO READ THIS IT IS SHOCKING!! To see a 24 year old man from The Valleys (Ebbwvale) go and talk to his girlfriend after having a small argument get stopped by the security guards in a 5 star hotel get slightly cheeky towards the guards and get handcuffed, beaten and tazerd by the guards in front of me, my sister, and younger kids also hearing the punches landing, Then whilst handcuffed getting dragged to a room where the manager actually told the guards to take him to beat him even more whilst shouting HELP! HELP ME! After getting uncuffed constantly asking the night time receptionist to ring the Police and with the receptionist replying "who police? I don't know who police is?!" JUST SHOWS HOW PEOPLE WORK TOWRDS US BRITISH, COS IF HE WAS TURKISH THEY WOULDN'T HAVE DONE NOTHING LIKE THAT!!More

Awesome holiday

One of the best holidays ever Really enjoyed our holiday and stay. The room was ok I would add maybe some English channels and iron in rooms. Other then that it was all fine The food was just specularly set in buffet style especially the salads and deserts . Fresh and well cooked, we did eat out aswell just to get a taste of Marmaris which was also amazing. The bar staff where good but sometimes depending on shifts u did get the odd one which wasn't as helpful. However this doesn't and shouldn't over shadow the great levels of service we had. Our luggage guy Mohammed was good too and helpful in weighing luggage on our departure. One tip don't use the telephones in the room ho to reception and ask to use there's it's cheaper and more transparent I paid 2 lires for a call to easy jet. The spa was excellent , at first the staff where a bit pushy but then where fine we did and up using the spa facilities and they were brilliant . Animation was awesome we where out every Nite with some off them and they took us to different clubs with discount. Some clubs where marked as discount but we never got it but who cares came out with a fantastic Nite at the end of it. Receptionist we really nice although didn't always understand what I was saying Really enjoyed the break. There needs to be more sun loungers . Overall brilliant and I would come back here In a jiffy .More

Please read my comments before booking

I am a British / Turkish and am quite well travelled but this isthe first time I found the need to write a feed back this is because; 1) on our first day after dinner before we went to marmaris town centre we asked the reception to send extra pillows to our room. On our return that night we found that our brand new FB design towel was GONE! I reported this to the reception but there was no care or interest in what I was reporting! I have reported this few more times giving the details of the time , date and location but had absolutely no respond or reply. My mother whom approached the staff confirmed with her that very often items are taken from rooms but for some reason they can not find it who is doing it????..... Very strange.... At the end of our stay I asked for an update on what actions they have taken so far and I got the stare from staff? Conveniently they didn't understand me either in English or Turkish !! But luckily I met their head of security ( really nice and kind gentlemen ) who showed an interest and said would definitely follow this up. 2) although we had my 75 year old my mother with clearly struggling to walk they still gave us the bungalow at the top of the hill where she injured herself, once again mentioned this to staff and they said " No iris really good" enjoy it!" I am satisfied that staff in this supposed 5* hotel are dumb. 3) there were no toiletry , although the house keeper was a sweet lady the whole housekeeping programme was terrible! The rooms were being cleaned ever 4 days! We had to ask for toilet paper and had absolutely no shower hello rand wash, we end up buying one. Although the water was free everywhere the bar in the room didn't get filled at all while we were there 5 days.this is not a 5* quality. 4) staff constantly complaint about Turkish guest saying they were too demanding but they didn't like being told that if they talked less their service would improve ( gait in the restaurant is not prt of this- he is very professional and the best staff member in the whole hotel) but the staff also said there is a different price / charge for each nationality most expensive being the British and then Russian... Nice set up 5) Volcan by the sea front is very unprofessional - on the very first time I told him to stay away from my daughter and that she is not and will not be interested in him but he clearly didn't get the message. His txt to my daughter will be available to management upon request but I will be also sharing this with travel Republic as well as relevant department within the UK and seek further advice on harassment!!! Another person had sexual interest on a 16 year old British girl ( his name. Is D****s) and while we were there he got suspended. But on the other hand Husseyin was an angel and fab! He deserves an award for being a good staff member. 6) the wifi is non existing! It is suppose to be accessible in the lobby but that does not happen either. And we notices staff kept turning it on and off so when you are in the middle of important email or message you loose it. 7) customer service doesn't appear to be professional and for every complaint their excuse seems to be the hotel and staff are seasonal! WTH!!! The news papers are screeming about the number of university guraduates unemployment in Turkey but hotels are still employing staff from Kazakhstan, Ozbekitan etc and they are no more qualified or professional then Turkish nationals . I am by profession and education hotel and Tourism and commerce guraduate. I have worked in this field in management level in several hotels before moving overseas. We used to contact and contract high school and university students studying in this field and provide the best and most professional service. They would have smile on their face, speak multiple languages and go out of Ther way to resolve complaints not stare at faces and shrug shoulders! Hotel this size and to earn its start should be better planned and ahead to ensure there are no thieves and the actions are taken with a smile. Staff should stop talking amongs the selfs as much! Often there were more then 3-4 staff in the lobby but they all avoided eye contact and took trays and left the station so they don't serve ( except for one lovely girl which I don't have her name) 8) i paid 270 TL for my friend and two children to visit me for 1 hour at the hotel. I was not given any receipt but just a card to say they can have a drink which was a lemonade! I will be raising this with every department I can't for an advise. Funny think is if they came via the seaside walk way this would not have happened... 9) this is definitely not a 5* hotel!More

Serious issue with male employees

Starting with the positives, the hotel grounds and scenery are beautiful. There was no problems with the food. The main issue was with the staff, firstly I speak both Turkish and English and I can genuinely say that the service differed depending on which language I used. The bar tenders openly told me that they serve the nationalities different and even admitted to the boat prices changes between them. Secondly, I came with a British friend and my Turkish family and we all stayed in a bungalow and shared rooms. During the day we went to the first platform on the sea with the water floats and I got constantly harassed by a guy that worked there. He picked me up and threw me in the sea and even took pictures of me in the sea without telling me!! He literally would not leave me alone, if I went in the sea he would follow me, if I was sun tanning he would stand above me and watch. At the end of the day my family left the pier and it was just me and my friend and he came and sat next to me and asked if I could get in his car and go into town with him. I said no and he kept persisting and begging, then he showed me the photos he took of me and my friend in the sea and said if I wanted them I had to give him my number I said okay because I had a temporary Turkish number. The next morning I arrived to the beach platform and EVERYBODY was talking about me in Turkish and the workers had even told the British guests that me and my friend where typical British easy girls and that we got up to no good that night with them... This was all because I declined to go out with him. I had to go and tell my nan and my mum what had really happened. Then the guy messaged me really horrible things in Turkish. It ruined my whole holiday and I am mortified my nan had to hear such ridiculous things, it's just plain embarrassing. To top it off my 8 year old brothers fort all towel got stolen from our room. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, it ruined my holiday with all of the gossiping and persistent men workers and embarrassed my whole family! Go somewhere else!More

Fg145,

Not good!

Absolutely shocking service in every shape and form 5 star you say ? Please reception staff very ignorant coming to clean rooms at 5.30 pm ??? Shutting pool down for a whole day with no communication what so ever food wise it's based on Russians Turkish and the eastern Europe cuisine so as an English person you may find there is nothing to accommodate you just a warning very basic rooms and also be aware of the hairdresser what an absolute rip off way to expensive for a rubbish service all in all I wouldn't recommend for English people at all also if you think your getting 5 star your absolutely not never again for me .....More
