Hotel Mares

This one’s a great all-rounder, with fantastic Med views, waterfront restaurants and plenty of bars.

This hotel is blessed with good looks, all the way from the bougainvillea-draped buildings to the mountain backdrop. The Med is mere footsteps away, while both Marmaris and Icmeler are just 5 to 10 minutes’ drive from here.

The sea views aren’t wasted here – the buffet restaurant drinks them in, while the seafood à la carte nudges the waterfront. There’s a great choice of bars, while the pool set-up includes one that comes with slides.

best holiday

lovely hotel with fantastic views. Large clean room with sea views. Food was hot and varied and very tasty. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Always found a sunbed although hotel could do with some more parasols. There were mainly russians at this hotel and yes they can be rude and do not like to queue but as long as you tell them there is no problem . My husband and i loved our stay at this hotel and will be going again in the near future.More

Mixture of Good and bad.

Good points : Friendly staff , lovely location , entertainers are great ,lovely private beach , no getting up silly time to get sunbeds. Bad points: Bit misssold on the room not the one they advertise on website .Never in a million a 5 star my room resembled a council flat I lived in the 80s old tired decor with a old tv . But view was stunning. Food was nice to start but quickly got boring ,rude pushy Russians every ware and no free ice creams at the pool with 2 kids nagging it cost me 10 lira a day x 10 days u can imagine not good on a supposed all inclusive. I was also ill with food poising the last but one day but my wife and kids where fine so who knows? .No bacon or British style sausages either avalible. Shocking wifi throughout hotel. Conclusion All in all a good hoilday I would have given a 4 had I not been ill we enjoyed ourselves and would proberley go back .More

Grand Yazici Mares Hotel 5*?

My partner and I have just returned from a two week holiday staying in the 5* Grand Yazici Mares Hotel,Icmeler, Marmaris. Turkey. The Hotel location, facilities and food are truly excellent, as are in general the staff, ( the only exceptions to this being the male and female covering bar duty on the bathing pier and the pitta lady in the main Hotel restaurant ). The constant repetitive drum and base club style loud music around the pool area was intrusive, not I would suspect to the liking of the majority of guests, but rather to the liking of the 20 'ish year old DJ's. The majority of guests in residence during our stay were Russian, with their conduct and general social interaction being very different in terms of manners to those of us from Northern Europe, this at times made for uncomfortable dining, with what we felt was very much a staff bias toward them. My major concern however was with our room, ( 1442 ) and the poor housekeeping in relation to it. The hand soap and shower gel dispensers ran dry within two days of our arrival, despite repeated requests, the hand soap remained empty for the duration of our stay. The TV wasn't working, the fault being flat batteries in the remote control, again, despite repeated requests to have this addressed, we had to fit batteries to it ourselves. The two pedal waste bins supplied, both had broken foot pedals and had to be opened by hand. The air conditioning was not terribly efficient, our lowest achievable room temperature being 22*C after running it at maximum for 24 hours. The balcony was built in and totally enclosed apart from the front, it is a dormer based structure, tent shaped and built within the roof on the top floor, so it was always hot during the hours of sunlight, in addition the noise from the busy road adjacent was often intrusive. The shower base was leaking and flooded the bathroom floor after use. Perhaps most worrying of all was the constant battle to get a sufficient supply of toilet rolls, our unchallenged weekly allocation being just two! One remaining two thirds used roll often being the only toilet tissue available after daily housekeeping visits! With there being no nasal tissue dispenser, ( often a common 5* Hotel accessory ), constantly running low on toilet tissue was rather inconvenient! When requesting additional toilet tissue, the fact that the room had the "do not disturb" card up was sited as the cause, sadly the language barrier did not afford me the luxury of advising that it was only in place during our time in the room, ( usually from midnight onward ), not during the day time, plus of course, housekeeping had already serviced the room. The above issues however did not have a negative effect on our holiday, we both agree that it was one of the best holidays spent together to date. A few policy changes would make a nice, in my opinion, U.k. standard 3.5 star Hotel into a great 5* holiday venue.More

Lovely hotel, amazing holiday!

Just returned after staying at Grand yazici mares for 10 days with my boyfriend, It really exceeded our expectations and photos just do not do it justice. Hotel grounds are absolutely stunning and the staff could not do more for you. It is in a perfect location being a short bus ride (2.50 tl) to either icmeler or marmaris, so lots to do if you want to get out of the hotel. Entertainment was good, and we really enjoyed watching the live music. The entertainment team were excellent and catered for all ages, entertaining the kids all day and then taking whoever wanted to stay out down to the beach club at around half 11 every night. In terms of food, I personally found it very limited as myself and my boyfriend are both vegan. There were veggie options available, most including cheese. I also found the tomato pasta often had bits of meat in it either due to the cooking or mixing of serving spoons, I'm not sure which, a little annoying but not necessarily the hotels fault! If you do not have any dietary requirements like myself I'm sure you will enjoy the food on offer as everything was fresh and varied each night. It was our first holiday as just the two of us, my first without my parents! One thing we did learn was to not be pushed into booking excursions with your rep. The minute we got there we were sat down and told to book our excursions then and there and even though my partner did say 'we'll have a think' we did end up being pressured into booking, and later found out we had been ripped off as people we met on the trips paid a lot less. However the excursions were amazing, we went on the lazy day boat which is great if you want a chilled out boat trip, you see the caves and swim in the sea, then you are dropped off at a little town where you can go on the beach and look around the shops. The other trip that I would highly recommend is the turtle beach trip. They pick you up outside the hotel and take you to a little town where you get an hours boat ride across a lake to the mud baths, the view is incredible and the mud baths were good fun. You then go past the king tombs and get dropped off at turtle beach which was a lovely beach, very romantic trip. Overall I have had the best holiday ever and made some amazing memories. I would definitely return!More

5 star. Not even close.

Really was looking forward to my trip to Marmaris/Icmeler and took time selecting this hotel. Room was away from Main Building and was a shocker. Every time we had a shower we had a river appear in the bedroom. Very very dangerous on a tiled floor. The reception staff were not interested in our problems and were quite dismissive. Despite our complaints it took three attempts to stop the river. The room had a stale smell due to the continuous water problem and the cleaner was pretty poor. Not sure she even cleaned the room some days. Left us with no toilet roll or soap. Food was okay and the restaurant staff were pretty helpful as were the entertainment staff. Will not be back.More
