all inclusive turkey

No way is this a five star hotel by british standards,A large hotel with mainly impersonal staff,probably due to size of hotel and amount of guests,stayed in a villa separate from main hotel,very basic rooms which were reasonably clean but were cleaned daily although not as thoroughly as we would have expected,food was plentiful and good although just normal basic turkish fare,all self service buffet style so a bit of a mad crush.Entertainment was non existent apart from kids stuff around pool area,although we were told it was available in next door hotel.Pizza is available if you book into restaurant but very limited menu,sea view was promised and to be fair you could see it through the trees, had some good times in lobby bar where staff were a bit more of a friendly nature but no nightlife as such,you could get dolmus to marmaris or icemeler but when you pay for all inclusive and are promised entertainment you expect it !!,free bars closed at 12.00 dead on the nail but you could order in advance !! Staff do appear to have improved from other reviews I have read but still not the best we have encountered in our many visits to Turkey.I would recommend staying in the actual hotel rather than the villa's as they are definitely not 5 star more like 1 star, all in all we would return as it was not bad value for money but do NOT expect luxury !!!More

me and my family stayed at the mares in June we had been to the mares in 09 and liked it so we went back thinking we had a family room in the main hotel as there was 5 of us but they took us down to the villas to a family room not knowing what was going on but to our amazement it was two separate rooms both with locks two showers two balconys and to top it off the entertainment team was great they all worked so hard to please everyone so a big thank you to them all.More

the hotel and the food were very good. a perfect animation team they did by day and always was super great, the best animation team! It is very well located! very quiet, also to the sea is super! for smaller children it is really super nice every day is playing the animation with their games. a children's disco every night and theatre a mustMore

Five star you've got to be having a laugh! We arrived early morning and were checked in (without any wrist bands) we were escorted to our room and after the guy brought our luggage in he stood there for about a minute expecting only what I can think of is a tip. First of all I'd most probably of tipped him had the transfer from Dallaman airport not been so horrible. We booked with Jet2 and the transfer should of taken an hour and a half (I know this as I've stayed in Icmeler before) however it took over two hours, yet again we didn't have an actual rep to help with the transfer we had a guy who spook very poor English and held his mic to close to his face whilst talking to us. He said we would have a stop off (no one wanted one) which would last 15 minutes, this turned in to nearly forty five minutes of waiting! I smoke so I went off the bus for a cigarette got back on after five or so minutes and expected us to start travelling we didn't! So obviously by the time we arrived at the hotel we were shattered. We woke up for breakfast and so that we could meet the Jet2 rep. I noticed obviously though that we didn't have our wrist bands so we had to go to reception and speak to the person there who spoke practically no English gave us our wristbands and then muttered something in Turkish. By this time it was time to meet our rep (Erol) who at first we thought he was going to be a decent rep, how wrong I was. The rooms are ok but definitely not up to 5* standard I've stayed in 5* hotels in the past as well as some lower ones and this is should never of gotten a 5* rating maybe when it first opened but definitely not now I'd say more of a 3* the air con is RUBBISH we kept it on 24/7 and it made practically no difference to the temperature in the room what so ever (we later discovered that the we only had one air con that worked. There was a huge red stain on the wall as well as he carpet! The handle on the door to the "balcony" fell off and when we made the booking we asked for a sea view (you can see a glimpse of he sea from the room that we stayed in) the beds are ok to a point obviously I came away with my girlfriend and we didn't have a real problem with the comfort to the beds. We had an old fashioned TV however when the maid was cleaning other rooms I looked in and every other one had a plasma! The nicest thing about the room and possibly the hotel was the bathroom which I thought was really nice , my only grumble about the bathroom is the shower it seems to have a mind of its own when you have the temperature set as cold it will change and the water will come out really hot do you need to be careful not to scald yourself. The food in the hotel is very canteenish and rather cold did I forget to mention that the food was the same every single night! There was other places within the hotel that you could eat but you either needed to make a reservation three days in advance or pay! For an all inclusive hotel I find this shocking, you also have to pay for other stuff such as ice cream, fresh OJ, waffles, popcorn and lollies if you want them. We were late for dinner one night as one of the signs in the room stated that the end of dinner time was 22:00 so we went down to get dinner at about 21:30 and it was shut we noticed in the lift that the sign in there states that the end for dinner is 21:30 so we decided to order room service I called the number from my phone in the room and asked for a cheese burger with just onion and chips as well as a PLAIN cheese burger and chips (plain to me means no salad, I also said to the lady on the phone that I wanted one of the burgers without any salad to make sure she understood) I asked the lady if there'd be an extra charge for the room service in which I was told no there wasn't and that the food would be with us within 30 minutes. Sure enough the food came but surprise surprise both burgers were WRONG they both had all the salad on them and I asked if we could change them in which I was told no (all she had to do for Christ sake was change the top of the bun but no) she also had a receipt and asked for 25TL. What's the crack there I was told it was free the order was wrong but I still had to pay! So misleading!!! Sultans bar is nice however the staff there are friendly and the entertainment is good with a chilled vibe and a live band every night. If you want a game of pool you have to pay a deposit of 10TL after our game of pool I handed the balls etc. back and expected to get my 10TL back however I didn't I pointed to the sign and said that says deposit which means I should get it back she said no it says you pay. Now either I'm blind or it's misleading and translated shockingly!! After me and my girlfriend argued with the lady we walked away and went to reception to complain, the manager was there surprisingly holding the sign and talking in Turkish when we were there (rude) clearly he had seen the error of translation and told us to go back upstairs and get our money back from the pool, Jesus this only took 30 minutes or so! The "beach" (ha) isn't bad however you've got to get up at least 07:00 to get a sun bed! Also if you're expecting sand between your toes on the beach you'll be disappointed it's all slippery rocks. The person who works at the bar in the beach area is very friendly though even though his English is terrible. The pool area is nice the pool is very clean and big there's two pools and I can't really complain about them. We wanted to book two trips with our fantastic rep who was straight out to the hotel when I called him. I said that we wanted to book Rhodes as well as a boat trip to hisaronu we booked both. We asked him if we needed our visa's to get back in to the country from Rhodes which we were told no, I also asked if you could spend TL in Rhodes in which he replied yes. Luckily for us my girlfriend decided to take the visas as well as our passports. On arriving in Rhodes we discovered that you couldn't spend TL in Rhodes. The trip there however was fantastic and it's a place that I'd definitely got back to. When it came to booking our boat trip to hisaronu he went on his phone and called someone and said he didn't know the price as Jet2 apparently don't sell many trips to that destination after he was on hold for about five minutes he gave up and said I'll call my friend to book this trip for you as I and get through to find out the price. His friend came and charged us £20 each. So the day came of our boat trip we waited where we were told to wait and we waited and waited in the end I called the company who sent out a bus straight away for us, we arrived at the boat went upstairs but on our sun lotion and was told we were on the wrong boat, so off we went and another bus turned up we got on and there was no other English people there was only Russians! So we got on the new boat the people on the boat spoke zero English and guess what we didn't even go to hisaronu! So what terrible rep Erol is, surely he needs to be sacked. The location of the hotel is stunning however and situated right in the forrest and is in the middle of Icmeler and Marmaris, so you get the best of both towns. To some this review up would I recommend this hotel to anyone my answer would be a straight NO this is not a 5* hotel at all! Forgot to mention how ridiculously overpriced the socalled super market is within the hotel itself, for instance go to Icmeler and you can buy hair spray for 10TL within this so called supermarket the price is 18TL the pop is overpriced the chocolate id overpriced basically everything is over priced! Stay away from this hotel at all costs! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!!!More

Rooms are very basic we are used to four / five star ,hotels but can assure this is not close everything is basic and very dated the main restaurant is like a cattle market evening entertainment very basic the front reception are not at all helpful we had a taxi to airport at 10.30pm but upon asking Mustafa on front desk if I could pay to keep room on was told not available so asked if a room was available to shower and change was promptly told that you can change in the ( TOILET ) this in a FIVE STAR HOTEL I don't think so also dress code is non existent many times i sat on a chair in the evening which was damp due to people leaving pool/sea straight to meals Again not 5 STAR We met many fellow guests from all countries and most if not all agreed with ourselves We did have some nice fun evenings at the bar where Emyr and his fellow bar persons made us welcome and we had some great nights Gary Luton ,Claudia Russia ,the five bombshells from Belgium (staying out all night ) so it was not all doom and gloom . But the front reception staff need some MAJOR CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING AND THE HOTEL NEEDS SOME MAJOR REFURB AS IT IS VERY DATED AGAIN I MUST SAY 3 STAR ON A. GOOD DAYMore
