Family holiday, A mix of Good and Bad.

I booked this holiday 7 months in advance with Thomas Cook for a family of 6 including my two children who are aged 5 and 3 1/2 and my nan who is disabled and 70, so that I could get exactly what I wanted, such as requesting rooms on the ground floor etc. When we arrived at the resort check in was fairly quick, however I was disappointed to be given our two rooms that were located on the 8th floor. I immediately asked to be moved and explained that when I initially booked to stay at the hotel, I had requested ground or first floor. The check in staff said that there was no note of this request and that I would have to speak to the Thomas Cook rep later that day to request to be moved. Eventually I spoke with the rep and she managed to sort something out, the next day we were moved but the room was not ready which meant we had to store everything in the luggage room while we waited. When the rooms were ready we were allocated two rooms next to each other on the 4th floor. I was still a little disappointed but I couldn't be asked for anymore disagreements, I just wanted to enjoy my holiday. Another issue that really needs addressing is the lift situation. There are only two lifts in the hotel that have to accommodate a large number of guests. It says it can fit six people at a time but if you have young children, luggage and a buggy you can only maybe fit 2 people and luggage. I was lucky to fit myself, a buggy, 1 suitcase and a child. During the day time hours in my opinion, the lifts didn't take to long to come and there was no queue for them, however, by the evening when everybody is coming in from the pool around 6.00ish, I found that there was a large queue at the lifts. Many people tended to walk up the stairs even if they were on high levels. Another issue that was quiet annoying was the sunbed situation. On our first and second day that we were at the hotel we managed to get sunbeds without an issue and this was about 3.00pm in the afternoon. However, the other days it was a nightmare, so we just spent time at the beach and did daytime excursions. On our final day we wanted a relaxing day by the pool for the kids sake, so I deliberately woke up early to reserve beds so that we wouldn't be disappointed. As much as I didn't want to do this I had to reserve a space from 7.45 and wait around till about 9.00am when the beds where unlocked. This was rather annoying waiting around and wasting all this time, however if it wasn't done my family would not have had a decent spot to sunbathe and relax on the last day. Food was an issue, it was very repetitive but you could always find something to fill your palate. The kids didn't complain and to be fare since they were on holiday they mainly snacked. There were points when the food was cold but I waited for breakfast to be cooked freshly in front of me, so I knew it was hot such as fried eggs and sausages. Because we paid for All inclusive we made the most of it and didn't want to pay too much to eat out all of the time. We only ate out on one occasion. The rest of my review is quiet positive, the staff were all very friendly towards me and my family, we had no problems. They went out of there way to speak and interact with my two children as much as possible. Evening entertainment was great, the staff work extremely hard to put on a good show and entertain all ages from children up to the elderly. My daughter enjoyed it that much that she wanted to join them on stage. Our rooms were cleaned every single day, fresh towels were provided on a daily basis and clean sheets were put on the beds as long as you striped these off beforehand. This is a very family friendly hotel and there is a lot of activities for the children to do, especially with their being a mini fun fair and park, which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel if you use the back entrance. The beach is also a 5 minute walk if you use the back gate to get to it and there are many shops along the strip on route to the mini fair and beach. You shouldn't listen to all reviews, I personally think you have to experience this hotel for yourself because not all that people write is exactly 100% true. All in all, I had a lovely holiday with my family. You have to make the most of what you pay for. My family did other activities that took place outside of the hotel premises. Im not 100% sure that I would return again, if they improve what has been mentioned then I may consider it in the near future. More

Natasha J,

Good hotel with poor caveats

I stayed at the hotel for 10 days in August at the popular resort of Palmanova. Positives. ------------- The Hotel is a in a good location of Majorca with good bus routes into Palma about 10 miles away / 20 minutes. A few metres away is the golden beach with good sand and plenty of sports plus numerous pubs, restaurants not only Spanish but Italian, Indian, Thai, etc. Also if you like an lively night out Magaluf is only a mile or so away where you could walk it or get a taxi but there isn't much of a noise or violent scene at all at Palmanova. The Hotel like others said is clean, plenty of free drinks, good pool and Entertainment laid on is good and most of the staff are very good and friendly. The rooms are clean with a good sized bath, shower, bed and size and large Flat screen TV. The Resort manager/staff can arrange taxi's, room service, awake up calls, etc. Mostly in summer the guests are English with families and tend to not make much noise past 1am. The Safe's in the room are very solid and secure with price charged by the hotel not all that bad. Negatives.. ========== 1. Internet is not free - 6 Euros per day or about 40Euros for a week. 2. Food - unfortunately mass made and catered for the English market - poor quality best eat out, can get very busy in the restaurant 3. English guests - on inclusive packages tend to be very noisey including children and adults where most of them stay in the Hotel all day drinking and drinking Wished there were more nationalities staying at the hotel with less English noisey guests. 4. Air conditioning seem very weak in my room with the maximum speed not doing much to clean the room. 5. Not enough toilet public facities in the lobby and although kept clean by the hard working Spanish staff the English guests seem to really mess it up in a bad way afterwards. 6. Rooms need to have more noise suppression if possible, where it is possible from some rooms to hear noise from downstairs lobby and indoor entertainment lobby and also from the busy street outside. 7. Check in - they need to hire more staff to deal with guests checking in. 8. Most of the staff were hard working and friendly; however there are couple of female staff at the front desk who were bad, rude and made bad mistakes like not booking the keycard for the right no of days, not able to sell you the internet or ordering a taxi when asked. The stay in the hotel was very good and I enjoyed it but I had to mark my review down due to the 7+ negatives raised by me. We was very disappointed with our stay here after saving all your for our family to have an enjoyable time. Don't waste your money and book elsewhere.More

Unfortunately wouldn't ever return!

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days on the 16th July. Firstly I'll start with the positives. 1.The hotel is very clean. 2.The resort and location is very good. 3. The entertainment staff are 5*, they work very hard and are very friendly and helpful. Now the negatives. 1.Sun bed arrgggghhhh! The sunbeds are locked but people sit on plastic chairs to reserve their spot from 6am-7am for the grand unlocking at 9! If you want a decent spot and to be in the sun all day as the sun goes behide the Mirlos by 2pm set your alarms for 6am, some holiday eh? I don't have to get up till 7am for work. Pet hate that happens at most hotels also people reserving their beds not to sit on them all day. 2.FOOD I lost 6lbs :-O. For a 4* hotel I was very very disappointed with the food considering i've stayed at many 3* hotels over the years and had 10 times better food. Same food constantly I know fully well that food gets repetitive when booking all inclusive but meatballs and onions as a main dish for 4 nights running and pork pork pork well undercooked pork, chicken nuggets and mixed stale veg for breakfast on toast. BEWARE constant fights and arguements over eggs! Snack bar is your best bet..cheese toasties, hot dogs and burgers. We ate out quite abit for evening meal which does defet the object of paying for all inclusive. Mexican night was very enjoyable though. 3. Evening entertainment was fantastic by the hotels own animation team but to get a seat make sure you at the restaurant door dead on 6:30pm eat your for in 1.2seconds and rush to get a seat otherwise you will struggle with everybody reserving their seats with cardigans and towels which should be BANNED! 4.Staff was mostly friendly but had a run in with the cleaner. Learn some manners Lola! 5. Very very busy not enough room or facilities to accommodate everyone staying at the hotels. We was very disappointed with our stay here after saving all your for our family to have an enjoyable time. Don't waste your money and book elsewhere.More

Too busy! Great location

The location of this hotel is lovely and there is an amazing beach out of the back entrance. The food is ok but breakfast ran into snack which ran into lunch etc but I think you expect that with all inclusive, we ate out a lot and there are lots of reasonable restaurants in the area. The bar staff work tirelessy and the drinks are good. The main problem with this hotel is that it is too small for all the rooms they have. People queued from seven in the morning for a sunbed (they weren't unlocked until 9), they would put plastic chairs where they wanted to place their sunbeads whilst waiting for it to open. The result was whilst lots of people couldn't get sunbeds the majority were saved with towels and unused to late afternoon. This extended for the evening entertainment where people put towels around tables and chairs as soon as they were put out and went for their dinner at their leisure. It was so bad we only watched one show as by seven there were no tables and dinner didn't even open until 6.30. The management seriously need to do something about it as it was unfair. The hotel was spotless but the maid service was unreliable. If you are the type of all inclusive client that gets up at 7 to bag a sunbed and then eats at 6.30 to get a table then this is a good holiday for you. For us this was way too much, we went on holiday to relax so wouldn't visit this hotel again in the summer holidays. The kids club was good but evening entertainment at the kids club was charged for an was 32e per child for 3 activitiesMore

Family holiday

Arrived at hotel around 10.30am after getting a taxi from airport 40 euros we had to get two taxis as no 6 seater taxis available so that made it 80 euros (always book transfers as not as cheap as we were told). check in was quick and easy as our rooms was not quiet ready we left our cases in room by reception, the only downside to this is it was not very secure and anyone could access this. We was given our bands straight away and went for something to eat. We had two rooms on the 4th floor room 410 which overlooked the kiddies pool and you could also see the beach and room 415, which overlooked the main pool. Rooms was clean and spacious the shower was the best shower I have had in any hotel flat screen TV on wall in front of bed with bbc, itv, CBeebies as well as the news channel. Room 410 only had one chair on the balcony but the next day there was two. Rooms were cleaned everyday but I am not too sure if the bedding was and one day we was left with no loo roll. so just went downstairs to the loo and got some from there. It took a while to get the safe sorted but once sorted was ok. Restraunt was clean and tidy only towards the end did it get a little messed as everyone leaving at the same time food was good but we tended to eat out at night so can't comment on evening meals. My 3 year old grandson did not starve. The pool area was a little crowded but ok bit annoying when people reserve beds and don't use them my son always got us a spot in the mornings when we needed one. If you don't like kids and want a quiet pool area this is not for you lots of lilos about but did not cause us a problem. Entertainment was good what we saw the lion king being the best the entertainment team was very busy with the children. Not enough chairs and tables for both hotels and people was reserving tables for the evening show. One particular day we was there it was raining not a lot you can do but both reception areas was really crammed felt like I was at a busy airport. The bar area was ok did not have to wait too long for drinks and you could get as May as you want bar staff just need to learn how to smile a little bit. Lifts are small but did not have to wait too long but beware the doors do close early and you can get trapped in them so have to be quick. Did not have many dealing with the staff apart from the bar staff so can't really comment on them, but one day the entertainments team got them all out for a clap and a cheer don't know it this was a regular thing but I thought was cool. Not 5 mins to the beach which was nice and clean with lots of bars around as well as kids areas mag alum is only a short distance away.More
