Family fun holiday

Flintstone themed Hotel. Very clean with ac which is a life saver, room service every morning, catering staff were excellent service and talked to you. Room I stayed in was on the 4th floor in the older building. The newly revamped hotel is the one next door which is both accessible from the rear off the building via the swimming pools. The lifts were very small and slow. They is plenty of food with snacks throughout the day and supper at night. It is highly recommended to go all inclusive especially if you have a family. They have a bar inside but most people drink outside were they is plenty of table and chairs with a stage at the front for the nights entertainment. The entertainment is flintstone themed. The entrainment staff are excellent with the kids, but the music was way outdated which I think they should update asap. Not one song I heard was upto date. Swimming pool are pretty cold as it's in the shade of the hotel and are pretty small considering the size of the hotel. They do have a kids zone play area and kids swimming area which is fantastic. It's vertually impossible to get a sunbed as they are claimed very early via a towel. In the hotel they do have child minders which you can leave your child to play whilst you get a moments peace. Beach is 5 mins away which is lovely and the local shops are good they have a spar and mcdonalds and lots of local shops in the town. The location is great, with magaluf a stones throw away and palma nova old town a 15 mins bus ride. Overall a very good holiday for family's. Hotel is recommended and if you go out off the hotel you'll also have lots to do....enjoy.More

Some good pionts but some bad.

Location & food good but narrow beds (2'6") wide, coffee poor & all drinks served in plastic cups including wine which was not enjoyable. Entertainment varied with some residential acts mimimg to pre-recorded music. More

Excellent location

Arrived at the hotel about 10 am after a very early flight in the pouring rain. We were dropped off at the Palma Nova Tordos and were told that our accommodation was next door at the Los Mirlos, which was a five minute walk. Arrived at the said reception and was greeted and told that our room was ready which was lovely as we were not expecting to be allocated until 2 pm, which is the norm. Our room was a little on the small side, but on saying that I did not go on holiday to sit in my room. It was very bright and modern with a flat screen TV on the wall with many English channels including CBB's for the children. Lovely modern, clean bathroom with a lovely shower good power and plenty of hot water. There was a small fridge which was free to use and a safe costing 22.50 euros for 10 nights, please note that it is cheaper to hire the safe for the duration of the holiday. Good size wardrobe but was surprised to see no doors, therefore your clothes are on permanent display, not a problem unless you are like me and prefer to see the room neat and tidy. Moving onto the main area, it was very inviting and in comparison to the Palma Nova Tordos we thought we had the better hotel, with plenty of seating for the time of year. There was also plenty of room to charge mobility scooters. There was a main pool directly outside the bar and the children's pool was around the corner in full sun which I am ashamed to say we did use when we came back from the beach in the afternoon for a drink as the main pool was then in the shade. The children's pool was the best I have ever seen in all the years of going abroad for our holidays. There was a second pool to the left as you come out of the back of the hotel and a large seating area which was very busy the first week of our holiday. You can use either hotels but you must take your meals in the hotel you been allocated. We found the pool area to be very clean and getting a sun bed easy when we needed it. There is a back entrance accessed by your room key card, please keep this away from your mobile phone as it wipes out your ability to gain access this would also apply with your room. (Management this might be worth mentioning to guests when booking in) The dining area was pleasant but with regards to the food we felt that there was room for improvement. On three occasions I had to return food not cooked, chicken and beef both dripping with blood and raw salmon. Unfortunately I had taken a bit of the salmon before I realised and it put me off fish for the rest of the holiday. My husband took it back to the chef on the pass and he was not happy when asked to cook it again. The waiters and waitresses were lovely and there uniforms were the smartest I have ever seen, and it was the attention to detail on them that made all the difference. In this hotel there was not cloth table cloths and the seats were hard, compared to the other hotel when we looked in they had tables laid out to a four star standard. The other hotel is were you go for the snacks, unless like use the last five days in October that hotel closed for the season and the snacks were then in the Los Mirlos. You could obtain as many bottles of water as you liked which was good for me as I do consume a lot of water. The animation team worked very hard and there were a credit to the hotel. Some of the evening entertainment was pretty much the same, but I have seen far worse. Leaving the hotel at via the back entrance takes to straight to the beach a five minute walk, if you take a left and go along the path this will take you to the bus stops, taxi rank and tourist information. Leaving the hotel from the front entrance and turning left will take you to the many shops. The main downside with this hotel was the lifts were are not big people and four of us in the lift was very cramped and there was only two lifts. You would just get a wheelchair and one carer in the lift and it would be full, the same can be said for pushchairs if you were able to get it in at all. One lady had to collapse the pushchair and struggle with child and bags while here husband went in the other lifts with the suitcases. I did see a lady arguing with someone on their not giving up space for her disabled husband. She said that one morning it took an hour to get him down to breakfast, so please if you can walk down the stairs we did and even walked the seven flights up if it was busy in reception. There are no rooms on the ground floor, so you do need to use the lift in these cases. We were able to keep our AI bands right up to when we left, and our pick up was for 1.30, so we were able to nip in for a light lunch before going to the airport. There is no free WIFI at this hotel which surprised me as I have stayed at other 4* hotels and it has been free in the reception area and rooms. Still if you go out of the hotel and take a left and walk along to the far end about 10 minutes sit on the wall outside McDonalds and you will get it for free, and the beach is nice and quiet that end. Please when you go to the beach with young children watch them when they are in the water, we say an airbed get swept right out to the horizon within a couple of minutes thankfully only clothes and books were lost. And if you children are in the water having fun please if the are screaming for you go to them ,as I went charging in when a little girl of about seven was having to look after her little brother of about four was screaming for her mother to come. Everyone just sat waiting for the mother or father to come and after some time I could not stand it and went in to see if she was in difficulty. Thankfully they weren't but they were drifting well away from their parents, and the mother just told them to stop screaming as people thought that they were in trouble. I have pulled one to many children out of trouble over the years, so would like people to be aware of the sudden winds which can take them out to far. Sorry to sound like an old fuddy duddy, I do like to see little ones having a good time, but at the same time safe. I certainly would return in the future, and overall had a lovely time. More

half term break

Second visit to this hotel. It was the last week of the season and it seemed no-one really cared. Bar staff seem uninterested and barely speak. Food good at breakfast but mediocre and too similar at lunch and evening. Rooms very clean, location wonderful. The staff had a party the Friday before our departure and at midnight we could still hear it around the pool etc in our 7th floor room.More

I recently stayed in Sol Mirlos with a family and my thoughts are as follows: -this is NOT 4* hotel but 3*. -most of the staff is rather older and this creates certain vibe (not everyone can speak English). -our room had large stains on the wall but after speaking to reception we managed to get another one. -there is no free wifi in the hotel and prices are rather steep (for 7 days you will need to fork out 25EUR per device). -food quality wasn't great except for bread. There is a large selection of dishes though which are available in different times of the day. -really good thing is the location which is 5 minutes walking distance from the Palmanova beach.More
