Louis Phaethon Beach Club

Pools are where this hotel triumphs – it’s even got its own waterpark.

It’s all about the pools at this place. On top of a huge, H-shaped one, there’s a new pool with 6 slides, added during a refurb in 2012. Rooms had a makeover at the same time and have a fresh feel. And there's modern dining, too.

When it comes to eating and drinking, highlights include an al fresco Chinese and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is in a quiet spot by a small beach. Paphos harbour is less than 10 minutes by bus.

Waterpark

There's a trio of slides to try out, and the multi-lane one is great for a race. The waterpark is only open in the summer, from 1st May to 31st October. Just so you know, you will need to be aged 8 and 1.2m tall to ride the slides.

Thomson Kids' Club April to October

Designed for 3 to 11 year olds, Thomson Kids’ Club offers 2 hours of activities, 5 or 6 days a week. And that includes at least 3 evenings. It’s split into sections, with Tots for 3 to 5 year olds, Team for 6 to 8s, and Tribe for 9 to 11s. Best of all, most kids’ clubs activities are completely free. And outside of peak season, there are parent and toddler sessions three days a week, too. For your peace of mind, all Thomson Kids’ Club staff have advance DBS checks and hold NVQ Level 2 childcare qualifications. They’re First Aid trained, and there’ll be at least two of them on duty at all times.

Great dancing, great food, great staff!

Just back from a week at the Louis Phaethon. If you are a dancer (sequence/ballroom/latin) you will love this hotel! There are dance leaders (Dave and Margaret) who host classes in the morning and 6 nights a week there is two hours of dancing (finishing just in time for you to go to see the hotel entertainment!) they find out what sort of dancing you like and build this into their evening programme. The ballroom is a good size and there was a great atmosphere - it really made the holiday for us. The dancing is available from the start of November to the end of April. The food at the hotel is fab with a great choice. There is free Wi-Fi in the lounge area. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Its location is at the far end of town but the walks into Paphos along the beach path is spectacular - boasting the best spot on the island to view the sunset. We will be going back!More

the best choice of food ever

I have just returned early this morning, from taking a party of 40 to Cyprus.I have for the last 30 years been organising Golf Trips for a group of friends, been to many Hotels and Golf courses around Europe and the Mediterranean and stayed at many great places. We have apart from one or two exceptions been very pleased with the Hotels we have stayed at and the golf courses we have played.I intend writing a separate review on the golf. The Louis Phaeton Beach hotel where we stayed we actually stayed at in 2004 then it was good but since then it as apparently been refurbished and all I can say is that we have stayed as a party at 4 & 5 star Hotels that haven't been a patch on the Welcome we received the attention, the Help when needed from the very lowest members of Staff to the Highest I thank you one and all sincerely. But the highest accolade I can give is that is the first time ever I have not had one complaint about the food as in my group I have some very fussy eaters.I coined a phrase well we where there and that is that the biggest problem was what not to have rather than what shall I have as the food was so excellently prepared and presented.A very highly recommened Hotel all mine and my parties thanks for a memorable WEEK Peter Butterworth(The Butterworth Group)More

Great family hotel

Excellent food, great staff and the entertainment is first class. It's good to see they don't cut back on quality or staff numbers in the quite winter months. The hotel has everything you need with free Internet in the shared areas and only 3 euros for 24hrs wifi in rooms etc, very fast too!. Properbly the best food iv had from any buffet type hotel, so much choice it's unreal! More

Mark A,

KIM bless you, from the Yorkies.

Had 3 weeks at the Phaethon over Christmas this time, been here about several times over the last 10 years. The staff are excellent from the manager down to the cleaners. We had room 1007 with a very comfy bed, the welcome back pack of fruit and wine is always a nice touch. Its nice to see some of the old staff still here especially Lilly on the lounge bar who is always up for a laugh, and all the waiters who worked well to keep us supplied with a drink. Nice to see that the restaurant manager still puts on my Bread n butter pud ( no longer need a belt to hold my trousers up, thanks !!) My wife thanks Kim for the lovely bottles of St Panteleimon that sent me soundly to sleep of a night. Will we return? Sooner the better, hopefully before the end of March. Would not be fair if i didnt complain about something so.............the wardrobe in room 1007 is really too small for a 3 week + visit, ok. The weather was excellent for 18 of the 21 days we were there 9th to 31 Dec 2014 same again next year please.. One reason i liked this hotel over the years is the dress code for the men at Dinner is enforced ( trousers ) , so lads, our ladies go to so much trouble to look nice of an evening its the least we can do to make the effort and put on a pair of trousers. Vests shorts and flip flops are not what i want to see at dinner, keep up the good work. Steve & Patricia.More

Good and Bad

As one arrives at the hotel, it is not very impressive but once you see the grounds you change your mind - very nice. 2 coachloads of guests turned up at once to check in at 10 at night which could have been chaos but the reception staff de-fused the situation by getting everyone to leave their luggage and to go to the restaurant for a light snack, fill in their booking in forms and then return to the desk to check in. Good thinking by the staff! Well done. Our room was very cramped with one double bed and two day beds for children - we had no children! The TV showed mostly Russian and Greek channels. There was 2 English speaking news channels but one had no sound so we were limited to only watching one channel. TV needs updating, As it rained for the first 3 days we could have done with some TV. We had ants in our room and had to call housekeeping to get them eradicated. Our wardrobe door kept sticking and finally fell out almost causing injury, fortunately I managed to jump out of the way before it crashed to the floor. The food in the restaurant was great. Excellent choice and quality. Loved the oriental choices at lunchtime. Sad that they poured out great quantities of drinks ready to be collected by diners so the beer, lemonade and coke all went flat as it sat round for so long, The diet coke was undrinkable - very odd taste. All the staff were very efficient. All in all a mixture of good and bad but nevertheless we enjoyed our holidayMore
