Pools are where this hotel triumphs – it’s even got its own waterpark.
It’s all about the pools at this place. On top of a huge, H-shaped one, there’s a new pool with 6 slides, added during a refurb in 2012. Rooms had a makeover at the same time and have a fresh feel. And there's modern dining, too.
When it comes to eating and drinking, highlights include an al fresco Chinese and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is in a quiet spot by a small beach. Paphos harbour is less than 10 minutes by bus.

There's a trio of slides to try out, and the multi-lane one is great for a race. The waterpark is only open in the summer, from 1st May to 31st October. Just so you know, you will need to be aged 8 and 1.2m tall to ride the slides.
Great for the kids with a climbing frame, waterfalls and slides.

Great family holiday location
This was our first all inclusive package holiday with the kids. We were really impressed with this hotel which provided lots to do, a friendly and efficient staff team and above all great food. Our kids (aged 7 and 10) loved this large family orientated hotel. It had a good selection of pools, one of which allows inflatables. Great slides too which had their own dedicated pool. People do put towels out to reserve their sunbeds but there are plenty available. The food was a highlight. We (as most guests) were all inclusive and the food and drink flowed from morning to night. It was both plentiful and delicious with changing menus everyday. The main restaurant could be busy at peak times for breakfast and dinner but we never waited long for a table and food was constantly replenished. Every night there was great evening entertainment. It always started with a kids disco, then a short musical pre-show, prize bingo, and then a cut down west end musical. Singing and dancing was fabulous from an energetic, talented and professional 'animations team' who also arranged plenty of daytime activities around the pool and hotel. The only small criticism I have was that the evening schedule always over-ran which meant the main show did not start until 22:30 or later - which made it late for the kids who desperately wanted to see the shows (Lion King, Hairspray, Mamma Mia etc). There was daytime entertainment to suit everyone but it was never forced on anyone. Activities included pool games, quizzes, football, archery, aerobics, go karting, etc. There are also two kids clubs on site - one run by the hotel and one run by Thomson. We enrolled our kids but they were having too much fun in the pool to head inside. The hotel rooms were comfortable and clean but a little tired and smaller than expected. Until our last night (when there was a wedding disco in the beachside area), it was also very quiet at night. We had a problem with our key and the razor socket in the bathroom but both were dealt with quickly and efficiently. There was free wifi in lobby and terrace, but it was very slow in the evenings with lots of people trying to connect. Wifi is available in the room for an extra charge, as is a safe. The hotel is at the end of the run of beach hotels in Paphos, which means it is a good 45min walk to the harbour but only 15mins to some other shops and restaurants. There are direct and frequent buses. The main water park is across the road. Having said that, there is little reason the leave the hotel complex. I would recommend this hotel to all families and we hope to return again soon.More
We have visited all inclusive resorts all over the world of vastly differing standards. We have celebrated the New Year here in Cyprus on a Thomson package deal. Firstly the hotel proved to be excellent. The room was cleaned properly each day and the sheets changed twice during the week. All meals were really good with an exceptional choice of food. All food was fresh and even at busy times there was always plenty available. The entertainment at night was okay and the staff do try to give a wide variety. The Russian dancers need to slow down and there routines will be much better. Overall excellent holiday. The weather could have been better but you can't choose it. Word of caution just been looking to book the same time next year and notice the like for like holiday has gone up over £240 per person. What are you playing at Thomson/First Choice??More
Tired hotel not 4*
We arrived a few days before Christmas and on first impression it was very nice. Met with a glass of champayne after a long delayed flight was a nice touch. We have stayed here for 2 weeks now and the cracks have started to appear and the only 4* about this hotel is the staff, that are very attentive and cannot do enough. Rooms are small and tired and need updating, they also arent very clean, dust and dirt under all our beds. We also twice had insects crawling on the floor and around the bin which really isnt what you expect at a 4* rated hotel! All the corridors need painting and the stained carpets replaced. Food is bland and the same and after 2 weeks we are bored to tears with it. Entertainment is dire with the same thing and schedule every evening. . You need some variety!! The arcade machines in the 'games area' are all circa 1980s and most are not working. Not a family hotel during the winter and just nothing to do. . Kids are bored out of their skulls. Thomson reps are as much use as a chocolate teapot here too. Sending us to the local Mall on a Bank Hol and all the shops were closed. . Welcome meet up . . Wouldnt bother rushing too. Wifi is absolutely crap and a fortune if you want it in your room, all in all a shabby experience for the money we paid for a so called 4* hotel. Wont be returning as better out there!!More
First trip to Cyprus
Fantastic reception, we were warmly greeted and nothing was to much trouble. Very clean through out the hotel including the rooms, cleaners were really nice and they left their own personal touches like folding your night clothes. The food was really tasty and good quality with lots of choice every day. Will definitely be visiting again.More
Our Xmas break
Me and my husband have just returned from a weeks holiday to the Phaethon Hotel in Cyprus. This is our second visit to this hotel our last visit was four years ago. We arrived on Xmas Day to be welcomed by the hotel staff with a choice of drinks and snacks and we were allocated our room really quickly. The room was clean and overlooked the pool with a sea view. I noticed that there was a fridge but it was empty which I thought was strange when I asked at the reception if I could have some water or soft drinks put in the fridge I was told that the hotel did not supply any drinks for the room but that I could buy a bottle of water and have this refilled from the bar staff when needed. As we were all inclusive I was surprised that no drinks were provided. The hotel have their own entertainment team who provide activities throughout the day and put on shows at night and there seemed to be plenty of entertainment for children. All shows throughout the week take place in the Chariots ballroom on the lower floor of the hotel which was ideal as everyone could sit and watch the shows in comfort and there is a bar area so we were really surprised that on the biggest night of the year New Years Eve the ballroom was not used instead there was a show put on the bar area in the reception area and although there are plenty of chairs to sit on there was no way you would be able to see the show unless you were sitting in the actual bar area and most people were standing up to enable them to see the show. There were some screens up so that you could see the show but if the show was in the ballroom everyone could have sat comfortably and enjoyed the the evening. The hotel have a large dining hall and in general the choice of meals throughout the day was ok the only grumble we had was that the food was never very hot but on the upside there was a a member of staff who cooked Chinese food every lunchtime which was lovely. The staff in the bar area and restaurant and the reception were very helpful and the staff who cleaned the room did an amazing job. This hotel is ideal for families with children as there are large pool areas and a water slide for the summer months. Many thanks to the staff and the management team for all their hard work may we wish you all a Happy New Year Regards Karen GilesMore
