It’s all about the pools at the Louis Phaethon. On top of a huge H-shaped number, there’s a new pool that’s open during summer and notches up six waterslides, plus an indoor pool that’s open year-round. Elsewhere, the food gets a thumbs-up thanks to a buffet place with show cooking, and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is right on the beach and Paphos is only a short bus-ride away.

Week at Louis Phaetho Beach
Stayed 12-19 April on an all inclusive package holiday by Thomson. The food - its quality, quantity and service were excellent. Range of drinks and quantity, as well as beverages were very good. Only criticism is that they haven't heard of coffee lattes. Service by all staff was excellent - nothing too much trouble. Wanted a extra pillow - supplied within 10 mins. I complained one night at 11:45pm about noisy kids playing - issue resolved in 5 mins. Drunks not tolerated - one incident which was resolved very quickly, Didn't see any others. The facilities of the restaurants, bars and the hotel leisure facilities are very good. It has two outdoor swimming pools; one indoor and some water slides. Only criticism - outdoor ones a bit cold. The hotel entertainment was surprisingly very good! Also had outside acts on a 3 nights - all OK to good. Rooms are very clean, quiet, plenty of hot water and towels. Air con could do with being a bit more powerful - no problem at Easter; might be different in the summer. Could do with upgrading their TVs. Flight to and from LGW to Pathos by Thomson. Thomson flights very good - good leg room; good air hostesses and reasonably priced refreshments of good quality if you wanted them. Flight 4 hrs. Transfers to and from airport to hotel included - no problems. Would definitely recommend this hotel and Thomson. Will be going again!More

Lovely hotel, but an honest review.
There seems to be a lot of love for this hotel on this site but I would like to offer a more balanced review. Firstly, must say, we had a lovely stay here. Paphos is a great destination and although the hotel is a little bit out of the way, the bus service is absolutely superb (1.50 euros for single/ 5 euros for day pass). The main positive about the hotel is the food - much better than your average Thomson hotel - the evening buffet was fantastic. Some of the products at breakfast aren't great (they never are on the continent) - the cereals were very cheap and it's a real shame they don't provide fresh milk for cereal and tea. This is a small gripe though - this is the best food I've had at a Thomson hotel. Other positives - the faciliites - plenty of outdoor pools, great play area, and the water park looks great (closed as it was not yet May). - indoor pool option - right next to the sea - good entertainment team providing plenty of activities day and night Here are the negatives in our experience. - the whole hotel is quite dated now (think late 80s/early 90s) and could really do with a substantial refurbishment. - the beds in both our rooms were VERY uncomfortable. We mentioned this to the reception but nothing was done about it. - the rooms are on the smaller side which was a bit of a pain especially with a busy toddler about. - the outdoor pools are freeeeezing - virtually unusable even though it was 24C when we stayed there. - Wifi is VERY expensive which is scandalous in this day and age as most hotels give it free. - The lifeguard in the indoor pool was very intimidating and quite rude to us as a family. He gave us a row if we made the slightest noise including when my toddler made little noises - this was particularly petty as the pool was empty at the time. - the drink selection is great but when we ordered cocktails they were served in a half pint glass which we found hysterical but it's quite poor when you think about it! - the entertainment manager - can't remember his name - he was quite annoying a lot of the time - he clearly had a big opinion of himself! Having said that, he did a laser show in one of the talent shows - it was so awful it was actually quite funny to watch. The review sounds negative which is probably harsher than I intended but I feel like some of the reviews on here are a little bit romanticised. Overall, the hotel is lovely - but I wouldn't want people to have unrealistic expectations based on the reviews on here.More
Best Hotel! Take me back!!!
We went to this hotel on the 12th-19th of April 2014 and are already planning when we can return! The hotel itself was clean and the staff welcoming and friendly. The animation team were the best, running activities throughout the day and night with something for all ages. The animation team were friendly, approachable and always smiling and willing to chat. The shows they put on during the evenings were fantastic, to an excellent standard and always entertaining. My favorite was the one on Friday the 18th which was a variety show, i especially loved the water fountain sketch that they performed as it was hilarious!! One of the animation team Manuel even allowed my sister to dance a duet with him which my sister absolutely loved! The bingo, quizzes and games included everyone providing fun for all the family. Well done to Dido and the animation team! The bar staff were also friendly and talkative and the hotel's facilities provided everything you could need and more. The hotel also had a nightclub which provided a disco until 1 am which was awesome! The only downside to the hotel was the wifi is very expensive and the hotel shop sells spades but no buckets which i found very strange! All in all a lovely hotel, fantastic animation team and plenty to do! Can't wait to return to the Phaethon as it's the best hotel we have ever stayed at! Dido and the animation team should be very proud as the animation team ensure a holiday full of music, laughter and non stop activities to get involved with! xMore

We stayed at the Louis Phaethon Beach from 13th April to the 20th April 2014. Well were do i start, first i would like to say that this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Hotel staff on reception and bar so very friendly. We felt very comfortable and so at ease. The entertainment team were just fantastic , they were so very nice and always cheerful . My youngest daughter who is 16 was able to take part in doing a dance with one of the male dancers (Manual), thanks to dido both my daughters so enjoyed themselves after what has been a traumatic year with them losing their dad and myself my husband. So much to do to keep young children and older children occupied. Oh almost forgot adults too.(I played Archery). This is a hotel that we will definitely be booking up for again, if not this year then certainly next year. I would give this hotel 10 out of 10 .More

Our party consisted of two adults and two kids age 16 and 11 yrs so this review is based around us as a family. Firstly, the reps at our hotel were the best we've met in a Thomson hotel. Being greeted by Danni's smile at the airport set us up for the week and she soon became like a friend rather than a rep. Niki was lovely and both the girls and Neil were brilliant at their job. Danni was a godsend when we needed medical help after our eldest daughter injured her ankle on the first day and was really supportive and knowledgeable about insurance, medical facilities, documentation etc. Thanks Danni. All the hotel staff involved were fabulous from the lifeguards initiating first aid, reception and management sorting taxis, wheelchair etc. Next, the rooms are a little dated but we didn't go to Cyprus to spend our days in the room. It was clean, comfortable and had fresh towels everyday. The hotel is spotless, food is amazing all day everyday and caters for everyone. Read a review mentioning the location of the hotel being under a flight path, that goes for all the hotels along the strip so not isolated to this hotel and to be honest, its Paphos not Heathrow so not that many planes daily anyway! Pools freezing but didn't stop the kids or hubby only me! Animation team awesome at what they do and again caters for everyone. All in all, was a great week despite the medical intervention and we laughed for a week which is what life is all about!!! Thanks to all. Oh and Dido's comment "Cyprus sun with British wind" summed up the weather 13th to 20th April 2014.More
