Pools are where this hotel triumphs – it’s even got its own waterpark.
It’s all about the pools at this place. On top of a huge, H-shaped one, there’s a new pool with 6 slides, added during a refurb in 2012. Rooms had a makeover at the same time and have a fresh feel. And there's modern dining, too.
When it comes to eating and drinking, highlights include an al fresco Chinese and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is in a quiet spot by a small beach. Paphos harbour is less than 10 minutes by bus.

There's a trio of slides to try out, and the multi-lane one is great for a race. The waterpark is only open in the summer, from 1st May to 31st October. Just so you know, you will need to be aged 8 and 1.2m tall to ride the slides.
Great for the kids with a climbing frame, waterfalls and slides.

Very disappointed with this hotel. Not what we expected for the price we paid. If you have been on all inclusive holidays to Turkey where all inclusive really means what it says, you will be left feeling very let down. 1. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in your room. (Tea/coffee is available from machines in the dining room and bar areas...when these are shut, none available). If you are an early riser or have kids awake during the night you can't have a cuppa! 2. No beach towels. That means you have to bring your own. Extra baggage weight if you're a large family! (Every other all inclusive hotel we've stayed at had beach towels as standard)! 3. No mini bar in room. There is a fridge in your room but it is empty. (Again, every other all inclusive hotel we've stayed in had a mini bar stocked with water, soft drinks, wine, beer etc - you've paid for it already, so why none)? 4. No free Wi-Fi in your room. It's free in the lobby area but you have to pay â¬25 for a week to have access in your room. Worst thing is, it doesn't work. We could only really get on to it at 5am, the rest of the time it's very intermittent so you are paying for something that for the most part you cannot use! Clearly not enough bandwidth for the amount of people logged on!! (Wi-Fi free in every other hotel we've stayed in). 5. There is a safe in your room. You have to pay â¬3 a day to get the key. This is NOT returnable. What a disgrace, this is just a money making exercise. The safe is in your room...I can understand charging a deposit for the key, refunded on return!! 6. Rooms are very small. Bathrooms are tiny. We had a family room with a balcony overlooking the main pool and a sea view. View was lovely! Rooms are very dated, paintwork patchy and room generally tired. Compared to the large airy rooms we've previously stayed in....very disappointing! 7. Food... plentiful but all very samey! Steak and mushroom pie on the menu 5 times in our 11 night stay! Not enough Cypriot food on offer to try. The usual kid choices that you get at home. Pub grub at best! 8. Drinks. Well...huge disappointment. Nothing branded, everything out of a machine. Tea/coffee= machine. Fizzy soft drinks=machine. Wine=YUK, comes out if a 1.5ltr carton. â¬10 if you want a bottle!!! Water=machine, â¬2 if you wanted a 1.5ltr bottle - Disgusting since you could get 9x 0.5ltr bottles for â¬2.40 in the town! And this is probably the reason your fridge wasn't stocked....nothing in bottles. It all felt like the cheapest of the cheap, especially the wine which was vile! 9. Drinks at dinner.... they filled a large beaker from the machine with various soft drinks, then from the beaker, filled glasses which were lined up for you to take....resulting in everything being flat! 10. No service at all...staff there to clear tables only! 11. Entertainment. Well, where do I start. The hotel entertainment team work hard from morning to night but seriously...kids shuffle board and kids darts?? Not really for 9 year old girls! The entertainment at night doesn't start until 8.45 and is not usually something that interests kids... 2 guys doing the Blues Brothers.... an acquired taste for adults...really boring for kids!! Entertainment repeated every few nights so like the food, very samey!! 12. Thomsons kids club. Now that was the worst! We booked this hotel because of the waterpark and the Thomson run kids clubs. 3 clubs, mini for the wee ones, team for the middle and tribe for the 9-11's. There was no tribe due to lack of participation so it merged with the 6-8's, most days there were 6 to 9 kids if at all! Very disappointing when you have an only child with you. The days they did 'fun' stuff like a pajama party it cost â¬10 to attend and the kids got a couple of sandwiches and a drink. (In a hotel thats all inclusive for food)!!!?? Very poor- not advertised within the hotel, down in the basement, really no wonder it isn't well attended. The Thomson kids club was one of the reasons we booked this hotel. It is not what we were sold by the travel agent!! To sum up then...if you are expecting all inclusive, don't go to this hotel. You will be very disappointed. Definately not worth the money! More

We were welcomed back like old friends. Everything about this hotel is fantastic. It is well run with all members of staff from the maids to the general manager working hard to ensure the hotel runs smoothly. It is very clean, the pools are well kept and the lifeguards do their jobs properly. The food is out of this world. Be prepared to put on weight! The entertainment staff are a fantastic bunch of people. You can join in all the fun or just sit and watch - it is up to you. We cannot find any fault with this hotel and will be back as soon as we can.More

The hotel is in a beautiful position with a very nice view. The rooms are nice comfortable. The breakfast supper and dinner were delicious. There was a large variety of foods from around the world. The pools were excellent as they were clean. The kids pool is fun aswell. The mini waterpark is also exciting. From the slides i would suggest the yellow and blue. The activities for children and for adults were also quite entertaining. The staff was quick and kind. I am giving this hotel 4 stars thlugh because it could use a renovation.More
2nd visit here, last time was when my kids were teenagers, returned with their kids and elderly parents. Hotel not changed in 20 years and rooms are quite dated and small, we had room 1108 which had a great view and was quiet, however did wake up on the first morning with ants crawling all over me, it was swiftly dealt with and did not happen again. Rooms are small as are balconies but not in them much. Bathroom very dark and sink does tend to spill over everywhere. Food was very average, and for a Mediterranean country to have tinned fruit and not fresh was very poor. Drinks were good and plentiful, great choice of cocktails. Pools great and never overcrowded, kids pool fab for little ones and waterslides for the brave, plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Most staff pleasant and helpful one or two a bit surly, had an argument with lifeguard as wouldn't allow a swim aid in pool for a 5 year old, finally relented when I said I would go to the manager. Some nice touches like champagne, beer or juice and cake on arrival, and champagne, kids cocktails and gifts for the kids one night. Mini disco the worst in any hotel I have ever stayed in, in a hot stuffy basement room, advertised as starting at 8.30 but actually started at anywhere between 8 and 8,15, they have such lovely grounds I am sure they could find somewhere outside for this and the entertainment, who wants to sit inside on a holiday abroad. on the whole a good holiday, but small changes could make it great, including providing pool towels.More
Just got back from our 3rd visit to Phaethon beach. 2013,2014,2016 What a fantastic time we all had yet again. Cannot fault anything. Tried a different hotel in Cyprus last year which could not match up to this one. We arrived late in the evening and once again we were met with food and drinks on arrival. Very fast check in too. Hotel room cleaned daily. The whole place is very clean. Saw the pool water being tested daily, which is very reassuring when u have children. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Food was once again amazing. So much choice every mealtime. All inclusive drinks are the best I've had anywhere. I will miss my bottled keo. Great to have evening drinks in glass and not plastic like most other places I've been to. Loads of entertainment daily. Having big age gap between our kids ( 20,15 and 3 ) can be difficult to entertain them all. No problem at this hotel. Volley ball, water polo , shuffle board , killer darts, Zumba etc. Plus our little one adored the kids club girls. Special mention to the animation team lead by dido. These guys are top class. Work so hard everyday from 10am and always have a smile on there faces. They really did make our holiday. Well done Louis Phaethon. We will be back for our 4th visit. More
