Louis Phaethon Beach Club

Pools are where this hotel triumphs – it’s even got its own waterpark.

It’s all about the pools at this place. On top of a huge, H-shaped one, there’s a new pool with 6 slides, added during a refurb in 2012. Rooms had a makeover at the same time and have a fresh feel. And there's modern dining, too.

When it comes to eating and drinking, highlights include an al fresco Chinese and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is in a quiet spot by a small beach. Paphos harbour is less than 10 minutes by bus.

There's a trio of slides to try out, and the multi-lane one is great for a race. The waterpark is only open in the summer, from 1st May to 31st October. Just so you know, you will need to be aged 8 and 1.2m tall to ride the slides.

Splash pool

Great for the kids with a climbing frame, waterfalls and slides.

I stayed here with my husband and 7 year old daughter last August. The hotel is huge! The entertainment team was great. There was never a dull moment. The food was delicious and with loads of variety. I found it to be very clean and I'm happy to say that, unlike other hotels we stayed at, they had the air conditioning switched on at all times, (which is always a good idea in 40°C+ weather).More

Gets better and better

Just returned from another great stay at the Louis phaethon beach club hotel. Everything perfect. Hubbie went for early morning stroll along the beach and found bar open at 6am accompanied by at least 100 locals having a swim. Staff are always available to help. Food still great. One of the cleanest hotels we've ever stayed in. We will return again.More

First visit to Cyprus

Found it very difficult to find any faults in this hotel. If I had to say anything it would be that pool towels would have been nice. Food great and available all day , staff great and so helpful and the entertainment team worked very hard and the standard of their shows was amazing, great bunch of kids. Bus service into town was good too. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everybody.More

What am I missing?

Since our son was born, we have taken several similarly priced, all inclusive holidays and I was looking forward to this hotel based on the reviews here. But it did not live up expectations. We had a great time, largely because the weather was incredible and my son could swim to his heart's content but there is so much room for improvement. The rooms are TINY. My husband and I had to sit on the minuscule balcony with no outside light every night waiting for our son to fall asleep because there was nowhere but the bed, right next to his head, to sit otherwise. We also had a cockroach in our room and saw several more in the hotel. Some areas of the hotel could do with a bit of an overhaul. This is the first AI hotel we've stayed in that didn't have branded soft drinks and the water in the coolers (no bottles) was always warm. The food was ok. Breakfast was poor -overcooked eggs, cheap sausages, hardly any pastries, no waffles, pancakes, smoothies as in most other AIs in this price range. Lunch was a bit samey and it's so disappointing that there was so much British food- I went to Cyprus to experience Cypriot food, not badly executed roast dinners. Stick to what they know how to cook well (Cypriot food) and you can eat well every evening. Wine and beer are both ok. No pool towels, but a good selection of swimming pools, well managed by the lifeguards and a lovely mini water park for little ones. Plenty of sun beds and umbrellas and nice to be able to be on grass, by the sea or by the pool. But why do they feel the need to pump out loud music all day? There is not really a beach, don't be fooled by the name, but you can swim in the sea. The pirate ship play area needs serious maintenance work, potential for injury there and the other play area was over run by children who did not appear to be supervised by parents at all. It was also disappointing that the kids disco and evening entertainment was all inside, downstairs in a 'nightclub' that was hidieously hot and smelly. We took the bus to the harbour for a number of meals, the harbour restaurants are good. There is an excellent, reasonably priced bus service, right outside the hotel and the Luna park (right out of the hotel, 5-8 minute walk) had a few decent rides for little ones. Whilst I won't go back, if you are booked to go, you will have a good time. The weather was 40 degrees every day, it's dry, pleasant heat, the Cypriot people are lovely, Paphos harbour is nice, the Cypriot food is gorgeous and the pools at the hotel are really pleasant. The spa was also great and reasonably priced. Just don't expect too much from the food and decor and make the most of being in Cyprus.More

Rooms are tiny and in need of updating. They are nothing like the pictures and are not 1 bedroom apartments. Basically you have 1 room for sleeping and the bathroom and that's it. No facilities for making tea coffee etc. However. Rooms aside this hotel is amazing. We had a fantastic holiday. The entertainment team is 2nd to none and work literally all day putting on various activities and fantastic shows. From lion king...to grease..to Chicago to name a few. Daytime activities was packed full if you wanted to join in. Food is the best all inclusive I have tried and they have a lunchtime Chinese buffet 5 days a week. We would definitely go back to this hotel for another holiday.More
