Louis Phaethon Beach Club

Pools are where this hotel triumphs – it’s even got its own waterpark.

It’s all about the pools at this place. On top of a huge, H-shaped one, there’s a new pool with 6 slides, added during a refurb in 2012. Rooms had a makeover at the same time and have a fresh feel. And there's modern dining, too.

When it comes to eating and drinking, highlights include an al fresco Chinese and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is in a quiet spot by a small beach. Paphos harbour is less than 10 minutes by bus.

Extremely Disappointed!

Please see below a copy of the email that I've sent to the hotel manager on the 22/09/2014. Still waiting for an answer... "...I've stayed with my husband in Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel, room G138, for one week (14th - 21st of September 2014). I'm sending you this email as a form of complaint. We will now proceed with our complains raising them by hotel sectors:   1. Bedroom: we have noticed dust accumulation in several parts of the room but the most evident areas were the mirrors (specially on the top half of the bathroom mirror), the wardrobe hanging rack, on the top of the luggage cupboard (around the TV, and TV screen too) and under the drawers beside the wardrobe. There was also, oil stains on the luggage cupboard. This is all gross untidiness and low cleaning standards for a 4* Hotel. There was safe in the room which we could only use if we paid a fee; this was the only 4* Hotel where we have been  that the safe usage was not included in the room fee. There was also a fridge available but it was not powered when the fob was removed. It is nice to have a fridge one can use but it needs to be on for 24 hours. As I've said I've stayed in the hotel with my husband but we only had 1 key, which is really not acceptable as it limits our mobility seriously. We appreciate that the hotel allows weeding in its premises but the other guest should not be disturbed by this event, as a matter of fact , there was nearly not one day where we were not kept awake until midnight due to the high noise coming from the pool parties; we're not against the parties what we're trying to say is that the soundproofing of the room is very poor. For about 4 nights in a row we were awaken at 2 am due to noise caused by drunken guests in the corridor (we've tried to call the reception during one event but nobody really picked up the phone). The bathroom was small and although we left the towels in the racks everyday the cleaning ladies insisted in changing them for new ones (is this how you try to save water?) 2. Rooms Hallway: The floor carpet was seriously dirty with stains and dust and the walls painting was so poorly finished that I can't even say if the painting job was ever finished. These is really too low standard for a 4* hotel.  3. Hotel atrium and store: Besides the sofas and furniture being really old and uncomfortable they were not very clean either. In fact as the day went through the standards of cleaning of the atrium and the toilers would decrease massively reaching really a disgusting stage. I nearly sat on a sofa which pillow was completely wet. Regarding the store we didn't even got in when we noticed the counterfeit handbags and other items from channel, ugg, etc (a hotel store selling counterfeit items!? Besides being illegal it really comes across as a cheap, low quality hotel). 4. Pool Restaurant: The juice drinks were so cheap and low quality that it really tasted artificial. I've never tasted anything so bad.  Due to this the only thing we could drink as we don't like spirits was water but the water cooler tap was so dirty that it turned pink, therefore we couldn't even drink water on this restaurant... The cooler tap wasn't ever cleaned during our stay, unbelievable! 5. Main Restaurant: The vegetarian choices were very minimal, the food plates were nearly always dirty (traces of food and stains). The reduced fruit available was poorly presented and some of them tasteless. We've seen countless times people filling water bottles and restaurant staff noticing it without taking any action... We once requested a lunch box as we gone on a tour and were presented with 2 cheese and ham sandwishes, 1 hard as nails kiwi, 1 undrinkable juice, 1 so ripe banana that is was all bruised, dry cakes and 1 bottle of water. There's a clear lack of care from staff. On the last day we requested another lunch box (as we went to another tour) asking only for 2 water bottles, 2 oranges and 2 apples and were told first that the contents could not be changed and after that we could not actually get the box as it was our last day (I didn't know that I was supposed to starve on my last day).  For all of this I have to say this experience was totally unacceptable, surreal and absurd. I never ever been in a 4 star hotel that was so low quality where there are such gross mistakes in so basic things. I finished this holiday, if we can call it that way, feeling cheated and robbed! I want to be refunded for such a despicable experience. Regards..." That's how good it was!! More

A week not long enough

After reading the reviews on here we were expecting great things. And from start to finish we were not disappointed. The management and staff are a credit to the hotel. Our stay was to celebrate our friends 50th birthday. That evening the management and restaurant staff pulled out all the stops to kick start his birthday evening. From the cleaning of our rooms to the food it was way above expectation. The entertainment staff work hard to keep you entertained morning to night and are not forceful if you do not wish to take part.As already said on previous threads the shop is way over priced.will we go back a 100 per cent yes.so if you have booked or going to book you will not be disappointed. Love this hotel!

We came here in June for a week to attend a friends wedding, about 30 traveled to the paphos area and we won the hotel lottery, compared to some of our friends hotels and prices they paid we definitely got a bargain!! Staff were excellent and the food and drinks were excellent! Especially loved the cocktails for the ladies at night time and the table service. I can't remember his name but a young barstaff in his 20's from Bulgaria was an absolute banter! Pool entertainment was excellent, got involved a few times even tho i'm usually the type to just watch! Treated ourselves to a couples massage whilst we were here and it was very relaxing definitely worth the pampering. I've got so many things i could add about this hotel but i think i'll just leave it at that but you can be assured that when my travels take me back to Paphos the Louis Phaethon will be my place of choice, thumbs up!More

Fab n fun holiday!

We arrived at the hotel about midnight & was welcomed with drinks & guided into the restaurant for some food along with our check in forms. ...check in was really good n quick which was really appreciated that time of night... When we got to the room it was nice and clean with a massive balcony, good fridge n air con however id paid for a sea view room and didnt get that so following morning went to reception to explain and they took us to some rooms to see if we wanted to move to them as the hotel was full they gave us option of waiting till the wed for a good room so we lived outta cases for 2 days (not ideal)as the ones they showed us wernt that great but ok...but i wanted what id paid for...n I have to say they were very good at putting it right. ....the food was really good especially the chinese at lunch time and no complaints about drinks either....very efficient around pool with collecting cups n plates. .in fact best iv seen! & lots of sunbeds (never had trouble getting some).... Spent most of our days by pool n did take part in lots of the games run by animation team who were excellent by the way....but didnt pressure u into anything which is good..my 6yr old also used the kids clubs...did prefer the animation kids club n the girls there emma..rachel..amy..Alice. .chloe..cath who are also part of the entertainment team along with kelly who got me into zumba then her step zumba was fab...not forgetting the boys either Cordos. .emil..joe..billy manny n dido....they are all fab n work really hard to please everyone....the shows in the evening are good...lion king was my fav tho!..the staff at the phaethon are really good n friendly too n thats inc all of them from bar..reception restaurant even cleaners .....there was only 1 thing that I didnt like about this hotel n that was the lifeguards ...they are far to strict..they are like the fun police ....I had a strong discussion with 1 of them as he tried to tell me my daughter needs armbands even though she can swim 25 meteres wirhout them???...n then wudnt let her on the slides unless she wore them...even though she'd been on them before without...so we ad to buy some! We didnt go in sea as it was really hard on the feet...we did go to the zoo which my daughter enjoyed..lots of birds there n wud class it as a bird park with few animals thrown in.... u can get the bus outside hotel straight down to harbour it cost us 3euro for us all or u can buy day tickets.......all in all it we really enjoyed our holiday and we would definitely go back there!More
