Louis Phaethon Beach Club

Pools are where this hotel triumphs – it’s even got its own waterpark.

It’s all about the pools at this place. On top of a huge, H-shaped one, there’s a new pool with 6 slides, added during a refurb in 2012. Rooms had a makeover at the same time and have a fresh feel. And there's modern dining, too.

When it comes to eating and drinking, highlights include an al fresco Chinese and a Viennese café. As for location, the hotel is in a quiet spot by a small beach. Paphos harbour is less than 10 minutes by bus.

Made us feel like royalty

Just got back from staying at this hotel last night and it was the most fantastic hotel ive ever stayed in. I was a part of a big party of 39 people whos ages ranged from 9 months - mid 60s and ever single one of us had a ball. Even though we were a big party we all got treated with the same standard and not one staff member was ever rude to us. The staff are fantastic, they all speak english, some better than others and they were constantly checking you were okay for drinks and constantly clearing empty glasses and plates, never once had to look at my waste food as it was gone within a blink of an eye. Food was brilliant, breakfast is great, there was a pool bar which has more of the snacky things like pizzas, burgers, pastas & sandwiches for during the day to eat by the pool although the main restaurant and chinese were also open for more of a sitting meal. Dinner is amazing, they cater for everyone under the one roof, there is a kids section, a vegetarian section, soup station, salad and sauce stations as well as the healthier dinners and then 4 buffet stations with a different carved roast each night, dinner is a different theme each night eg. Italian, world buffet, cypriot, carvery. Rooms are cleaned everyday and the maids do a great job, they clean althroughout the day so if you want a lazy day you can still get your room done while you go for dinner at 6pm!. Entertainment was good, reps were playing games for children and adults all throughout the day and a different show was on each night as well as cash bingo and a disco. The water slides are fantastic great fun for children and adults. Pools are a good temperature, one has got waterpolo nets and slightly warmer which is meant for children as they can take inflatables and lilos in etc whereas the other pool is meant for adults although the dont stop children going in, your only allowed children in with armbands on no woggles etc. Local supermarket, chemist and cash machine are just a 5-10 minute walk aswell has having a little shop in the hotel. Weddings are on constantly at the hotel so if your by the pool you get a wee nosey at the bride as she walks doen the aisle,if your getting married its a beautifully decorated arch and chairs with a tremendous view of the sea aswell as being a little chapel 5 minutes walk away for sunset photos. The decoration in the hotel is brilliant, looks amazing. Only thing id have to say wasnt perfect is that there can be quite a few ants by the pool bar and the back corner of the entertainment room. Other than that it was faultless.More

Hu770n,

Best holiday

As a mother travelling with young adult children (21, 19 and 18) it's always a worry to find something to suit all tastes. This hotel succeeded amicably. Amazing staff. Lovely meals. Great reps. Would love to return. We all agreed it was our best holiday...(5th one abroad now). Bedrooms are a little tired, but nobody wants to spend long in them anyway! I thoroughly recommend. And well done to every member of staff for making us feel so welcome.More

fistowy,

Amazing hotel and service

This was our first visit to cyprus which was for our daughters wedding, i have to admit i was a little worried as doing everything by email i did feel a little out of control but i need not have worried, Michelle our wedding planner was wonderful and very thoughtful which took all the worry out of our hands, everything down to the photographer, the DJ, Greek dancers and our waiters for the evening was first class. This hotel is amazing , we were greeted at around midnight with drinks and snacks. This hotel served the most delicious food every day catering for every taste, the chines buffet at lunch time was to die for, i had a very happy hubby as plenty of cheese and biscuits for him to take to the room for his supper. Our cleaning lady Katarina was very through and trustworthy making an extra bed up for us so we could look after our grandson . Bar staff could not be more attentive and it was lovely to have brand named drinks in abbundance if you wanted them. Swimming pools were spotless and plenty of activities if you wanted to join in, the animation team were very friendly and always had time to stop and speak to you. We were very sad to leave as this was the perfect wedding destination and holiday and we are already looking to rebook. A big thank you to everyone who made this a special wedding and holiday to remember and a special thank you to management who was always there with a friendly smile and always made himself available if needed.cannot wait to see you all again as soon as possible.More

2nd visit to Louis Phaethon Beach hotel

Just home from our second visit to this hotel following a great holiday this time last year, met friends from our first visit and had real nice time .. When my wife and I arrived we were greeted with drinks and snacks which I thought was a nice touch and following registration we were shown to our room ( had nice sea & pool view )..rooms a little tired but ok There are many good things to like at this hotel and a few that I did not like.. I will mention the good things first. Reception staff friendly and efficient. Staff in the restaurants were excellent ,as were the bar staff in all the bars..Always smiling and having a joke ..1st class.. The animation team worked there socks off and tried so hard to please & entertain everyone..Well done to Kelly and the rest of your team your the best we have seen.. Would be nice to have some new shows as the entertainment was the same as last year and then repeated on the second week.. I assume this is on management instructions The food was nice ..although it became repetitive during the second week & on occasions not that hot. Pools and slides were great with life guards and 1st aiders in attendance but were closed several times due to children poohing in pool..( not hotels fault ) Sunbeds & parasols plentiful. Spa was nice with steam, sauna and relaxing pools. All areas of the hotel clean and spotless.. Things I did not like .... Was disappointed when told you had to pay 3 euros a day for small safe in room .. Was concerned along with many other guests about bingo as one person won 5 times in 10 days last year and then won 4 times in 8 days this year winning in excess of 1100 euros.. lucky guy.!! Was disappointed with the poor standard of sports equipment.. most, if not all, completely worn out. On our third day I stubbed my toe( resulting in loss of toe nail ) in the volley ball court ..I assumed there would be deep sand on the court but found out it was solid concrete under a shallow bed of sand .. Complained to First Choice rep..but was told not her problem but would pass message to Animation Manager ( Dido ) Nothing done so mentioned my concerns to various animation staff..but advised to speak with Hotel P.R. manager Again nothing done so spoke with Kim (Hotel public relations manager ) Explained to her my concerns & that I had injured my toe and asked her if she thought it would be fair to assume after spending thousands of pound on a holiday that the games equipment should be of reasonable standard. She agreed all equipment should be of good quality and would speak with senior management if any equipment breached health & safety. I asked her to have a look at the Volley ball court ( depth of sand ).. The table tennis table,( falling to bits).. The shuffle board court & disks,(old & worn out ). The archery and the darts.. All of which in my view needed replacement.. Unfortunately did not get any sort of reply so gave up...Guess they only wanted to hear good news. " Come on Louis Group " spend a small amount of money and get the above items up to date.. Having said all the above my wife & I, along with our new found friends had a wonderful holiday and would consider returning again... this is a nice hotel and with just a little work would be a genuine 4 / 5 star hotel..More
