The Spring Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.
The Spring Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.
Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

Honeymoon with kids
Thank you to the staff at the Bitacora hotel for making our honeymoon, and also my husbands 40th birthday, so memorable. I contacted the hotel before we arrived and they surprised us with balloons, a card, champagne and a large basket of fruit. Additionally, my husband was given a cake after our meal on his birthday. We were with our children, who absolutely loved the pool and excellent park facilities. The food was good and hot, we always had plenty to choose from, including our fussy kids! Our room was spotless and the maids came in daily to tidy up. We needed boarding passes printed and reception were happy to help. Overall this was a wonderful holiday :)More

Good the bad and the ugly
Dissappointed after reading earlier reviews, we had a party with 3 rooms and had requested adjoining rooms with our elderly father and also emailed Hotel directly to request this also with rooms on high floor if possible. We got 2 rooms on 2nd floor, not adjoining with the other room on the ground floor closest to reception and stuck away in corner. Not quite the pool view we had paid substantially for. On complaining we managed to get this room changed the next day to 2nd floor under duress by reception who didn't seem to care, but this was the case on more than one occasion. On 1st night the ground floor room door failed and had to be stripped down, we were left to supervise our possessions in the room for two hours whilst the handyman sourced parts. Good start and service......not ! Good points : 1. Room and size, maids kept really clean. 2. Food in restaurant, plenty of choice, albeit a bit of a frenzy at times. 3. Swimming pools, good sizes. 4. Play park and club for children. Bad points : 1.Some of the reception staff rude and just shrug the shoulder when issues are raised. Not in any way helpful. 2. Entertainment was terrible, geared mainly for the elderly, we had to go out most nights. The male compere and the weekly host act we found inappropriate as kids present, particularly whilst dressed as a woman the constant rubbing of his body, flashing bare bottoms etc. Not suitable for occasion, go to proper drag show.... 3. Locked out of room on last night as they'd cancelled card even though we had another night, same happened in morning after breakfast, too quick to try evict you way before 12 when especially check-in is at 3pm ! 4. Too many sun loungers for size of pools, jammed in together as in touching. 5. People getting up in middle of night to reserve loungers with staff turning a blind eye - we saw folk placing towels at 5-6am, mainly older residents. Everywhere allows this admittedly but some hotels don't 'open' the pool areas until around 8-9am, at least then would have a fighting chance and outrun the old buggers :-) 6. Bar Hall - a ridiculous set-up, forever waiting service on the terrace, especially at happy hour surprise surprise. They don't like you ordering at bar and ask you to sit at table only for you to wait........and wait...........and wait........terrible ! 7. Wifi kept losing signal, even at reception. Not the worst hotel ever stayed in would only return if above issues improved.More

A fortnight of Two Halves!
COUPLES WEEK.... Our first week was for myself and my husband. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were late arriving at our Hotel, but the staff were excellent and made it possible for us to get a meal before the dining room closed. There are shops and supermarkets within easy walking distance. The hotel, gardens and pools were spotless and very well cared-for. The meals were adequate and well presented, with a roast and grill every night as well as fish cooked on the griddle or in a sauce. There were puddings a-plenty! The nightly entertainment was varied with good artistes and some lovely Canarian singers. Mostly relaxing evenings. FAMILY WEEK.... As I said there were two halves to our holiday! Our daughter and 4 year old grand-daughter joined us for the second week, and we had a wonderful time. There was a Mini club twice daily, for activities of all kinds, and in the evening there was a Kid's Disco. It was wonderful to see all different age groups getting on so well. The Leaders at the disco kept the singing and dancing going really well, involving Mums and Dads too. Springly, the hotel six feet tall mascot, made a nightly appearance much to the children's delight! She loved the water slide and pools at the Bitacora, and would be found there playing with the other children for hours. The pick-up points for a number of excursions were across the road from the Hotel. Lord Parque in the north of the Island; and Siam Water Park a few kilometres away proved to be a great hit! So much so that her Mummy took her again two days later to meet up with friends from another hotel. This was our third visit to the Hotel Bitacora and we plan to go again!More

Lovely hotel but a few things slightly disappointing!
We stayed on floor 2. 2 Adults one child aged 2. Pool view room. The hotel room was lovely and spacious especially with the extra bed. Dressing gown and slippers and complimentary champagne on arrival. Only downside to the room is it could of been slightly cleaner. The floor seemed to have clumps of hair on it but apart from that was fine. Food- We stayed half board. I personally found the food choice quite limited and of average flavour but it seemed to do the job. The men have to wear long trousers to evening meal and there is no flexibility even if you have not got any with you! We had to purchase some for my husband and we were not the only ones. Isabella on the food hall reception needs to smile more! The pool- the pools were lovely and we always seemed to get a sunbed. They are packed closely together though! Free pool towels! Kids park- Was lovely! Reception- Didn't take long to check in and they were lovely and helpful. Location- Great location Central to most shops/bars I would probably stay here again at room only.More
