Hotel Bitacora

The Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.

The Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.

Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

Not half as good as other reviews suggest.

Rooms are decent, well decorated and quite large. Tiny bathroom and balcony. Shower would come out as a trickle, when trying to have a hot shower prior to going out in the evening. There was also a pipe of sorts within the walls of our bathroom that clearly moved toilet water from the floors above so you had constant flushing sounds from very early in the morning. Thank god I took ear plugs. The food is by far the worst part. Not actually any worse than any average 4* Spanish hotel, however I expected better from the reviews. Usual fare really. Salads, chips, rice and various fish and meat (mostly "pig") in flavourless sauces + hot plate cooked meats and fishes of very questionable quality. You will wait a very long time to see a chicken breast. During the week we stayed (all inclusive) we ate breakfast elsewhere 3 times, lunch twice and dinner 4 times. This made the hotel restaurant more bearable. The entertainment is variable as you might expect. Best by far was the Michael Jackson (comedy) show. The on site entertainment staff themselves are excellent and work their absolute socks off but should stick more to the slapstick/ comedy as that was a great laugh. By about 8-9pm the beer in the main bar becomes warm as clearly they're not able to chill enough kegs at one time. The sunbeds are reserved from very early and as you can see (from the fact the hotel never respond on this issue) this isn't something the hotel give a single damn about. This review is objective and accurate however you may be surprised to hear that despite these negatives we had a great time and certainly wouldn't rule out returning to the Bitacora. If you've been on holiday to a 4* in Spain or Tenerife before then this won't be any better just more of the same really.More

Just returned from another 10 days at the Bitacora it was brilliant from start to finish we met some great people some returning from the previous year that we had been friendly with.Food as before was lovely plenty of choice and cooked fresh for you.Good quality of wine also.Staff are all very friendly as always especially Mohamed who works from morning till night always with a smile on his face, also a mention to Cesar who does a great job,as well as the animation team who entertained us all day and night brilliant, sorry that Pinky was on holiday but everyone has to have them hope to see her next time. Finally the sun bed situation yes people do go down to reserve them at 6am but this is to get their favourite location, you really dont need too there are plenty of beds for every one.Cant wait to go again, see you all soon.More

Jeanette B,

Great Hotel in a Great Location

We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday in September and had a great holiday staying on a half board basis. We found the hotel reception very helpful and pleasant. Our twin bedded room was very spacious and clean. Beds very comfortable. The dining room very nice and the food and service excellent. Good to see dress standards. We felt the drinks arrangement worked very well where all guests (half board and all inclusive) had to show their room card and sign for drinks and we were able to monitor our bill and paid on our card at the end of each week (we received a 15% discount as spring club members). The swimming pools were all a lovely temperature. We usually put out our towels on our sunbeds on our way to breakfast and found this worked well although some people were up much earlier to get their favourite spots (no different to other hotels we have stayed in). The entertainment team worked very hard and all the staff were very pleasant and are a credit to the hotel. We would recommended this hotel and will be returning in the future.More
