Hotel Bitacora

The Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.

The Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.

Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

10 years since our first visit

We have visited this hotel many times over the years. We realised before we travelled that it had been10 years since our very first visit and we have always enjoyed our holidays here. This time was no different, the staff greeted us warmly and as we had requested a room on a higher floor we had 8th floor. Fantastic! The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable and very clean. We were on a half board basis and always had plenty to choose from in the resaurant which as always ran like a well oiled machine. Staff are very pleasant and efficient. The location of the hotel is very convenient for shops, bars and restaurants. Also the beach is close, we spent a day there which cost 10euros for 2 loungers. A good alternative to the pool. Yes, we put towels down before breakfast but this was no different from other places we have stayed at. To be honest, we didnt engage with the entertainment but if you were travelling with children there appeared to be lots to do for families. It didnt interest us as we tended to go out most evenings. All in all we had another great holiday enhanced by fabulous weather and returned home relaxed. We will be back!More

Had a better stay here before

Just back from a week in the Bitacora, I had stayed here in March and had a wonderful time couldn't fault anything, but this time I was glad to get home. The evening entertainment was so loud I just couldn't get to sleep, I ended up moving rooms from 3rd floor pool view to ground floor overlooking kids play area, to then be kept awake by kids running up and down the corridor shouting to all hours. We have complained and hope they take notice as a lot of other people felt the same. It is a great hotel with great food and lovely staff, spacious clean rooms and good air con! I hope to return but will b asking for a room without a pool view not on the ground floor to guarantee a good nights sleep!More

Great holiday

Lovely big room, nicely decorated and very clean. Bathroom good size too. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Always plenty of food with a great variety of choice, there was always something for everyone. Pool area very nice, people do put towels to reserve beds and never use them but it didn't seem to cause a problem. Entertainment every night, it wasn't to our taste but nobody says you have to watch, there are plenty of other options nearby. The only thing wrong was that the air conditioning could be a bit noisy.More

Not half as good as other reviews suggest.

Rooms are decent, well decorated and quite large. Tiny bathroom and balcony. Shower would come out as a trickle, when trying to have a hot shower prior to going out in the evening. There was also a pipe of sorts within the walls of our bathroom that clearly moved toilet water from the floors above so you had constant flushing sounds from very early in the morning. Thank god I took ear plugs. The food is by far the worst part. Not actually any worse than any average 4* Spanish hotel, however I expected better from the reviews. Usual fare really. Salads, chips, rice and various fish and meat (mostly "pig") in flavourless sauces + hot plate cooked meats and fishes of very questionable quality. You will wait a very long time to see a chicken breast. During the week we stayed (all inclusive) we ate breakfast elsewhere 3 times, lunch twice and dinner 4 times. This made the hotel restaurant more bearable. The entertainment is variable as you might expect. Best by far was the Michael Jackson (comedy) show. The on site entertainment staff themselves are excellent and work their absolute socks off but should stick more to the slapstick/ comedy as that was a great laugh. By about 8-9pm the beer in the main bar becomes warm as clearly they're not able to chill enough kegs at one time. The sunbeds are reserved from very early and as you can see (from the fact the hotel never respond on this issue) this isn't something the hotel give a single damn about. This review is objective and accurate however you may be surprised to hear that despite these negatives we had a great time and certainly wouldn't rule out returning to the Bitacora. If you've been on holiday to a 4* in Spain or Tenerife before then this won't be any better just more of the same really.More

brilliant

Just returned from another two weeks with our holiday family at the bitacora the staff are wonderful and my family look foreward to seeing them, we meet up with people that we have met over a few years and are all planning to meet up again in may, the waiters jessica and david always look after us , carlos and the animation team were brilliant as usual and the food and rooms great, why would I ever want to go elsewhere, More
