Spring Hotel Bitacora

The Spring Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.

The Spring Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.

Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

Amazing Hotel, Incredible staff and Brilliant choice of food

Me and my girlfriend recently returned from our second year at the bitacora together, Theyd somehow improved the hotel since our visit last year, Bitacora have an outstanding entertainment team and we noticed theyd also put more effort in since last year by adding better adult games during the day around the pool like drinking games for example. We were fortunate enough to be given a pool & sea view which made our holiday so much better, The facelift of the hotel exteriors was really noticed just by changing small features has given it a real modern look.. Our favourite parts of the hotel had to be the Staff: from the entertainment team to the reception & restaurant staff they all will bend over backwards for you, I felt the food had improved on last year but I still feel opening the refillable drinks machine would improve services at dinner... The minor improvements I could suggest would be : > People behind the bar being rude > How frequently you are approached for a new drink (this can obviously be difficult when the bar is full) > A few nights the entertainment wasn't great, but Id still seen a vast improvement from last year, Carlos and his team work incredibly hard to change it up a bit with new shows like Mr Bitacora & Mtv awards > Work to be finished on the water fountain under the slide, this was the same in 2014 and we thought it would be fixed this summer > A hot tub on the raised sunbed area (Alot of other hotels in the area have these) This is obviously quite a random improvement but with these I dont understand why Bitacora wouldn't be no1 in Tenerife But these are improvements and not issues! Thankyou for a brilliant holiday, we'll be back next year!More

Good hotel in a great location - few things to be aware of before you plan on staying

Stayed as a family of four adults on a half board basis. 26th June - 3rd July 2015. This is a good hotel in a great location. Located in Playa de las Americas, this hotel is pretty central to everything the local area offers. Shopping areas, pubs, restaurants and even clubs are all within a short walking distance. You can get to several beaches from the hotel too which is also useful if you prefer that to the pool. The hotel on the exterior looks clean and tidy, although the entrance is quite small. It's certainly not an entrance that jumps out at your face. As you enter the hotel you're welcomed to an open communal area with sofas and tables, and to your left there is the reception desk and other communal areas leading to the bars, restaurant and other amenities. Check in was relatively quick with no issues. Staff at reception were very friendly and the guy that checked us in was very helpful and gave us all the information we needed. Very happy with service from them. The hotel room is spacious and modern. It features two single beds put together as a double (fitted with double bed sheets), and also a sofa bed. The bathroom isn't quite as nice as the room itself and ours looked a bit worn out in places, but it was clean and was adequate enough. The hotel room features a mini-fridge, which in some rooms doesn't need a key and is free, but in other rooms it has a lock so you have to hire a key from reception. I'm not entirely sure why it's like this although it seems there's a mixture of fridges in the rooms, some with locks and some without. There is also a safe in the room which you have to pay for (cost us 14 EUR for one week). If you have a pool view room you get the safe for free during your stay. We didn't have an pool view room and ended up with a room facing the street at the front of the hotel. The view wasn't that attractive although there was no noise at night so it didn't cause any problems. If I visit again I would pay for a pool view room though. Outside there are two swimming pools, one for adults and one for kids. The children's pool also has a long waterslide which is a nice touch if you visit with kids. The hotel operates a no reserving sunbeds rule, and like every other hotel this rule is ignored, by 8am in the morning near enough every sun bed is reserved! So if you want to be near the pool be prepared to get up at 7am and rush out. I've never understood why people do this but sadly it's common practice in any hotel like this. The restaurant had a good selection of foods for breakfast and evening meals. Before booking our holiday to Tenerife a lot of people did highly praise the food quality and selection, and honestly it didn't live up to the hype. There was a good food selection, and the quality was good, although having been to other Spanish resorts in 4* hotels of a similar quality the food here was pretty much on par with any other hotel I've been to. So the food is good, but if you've been to a hotel like this before don't expect anything more than what you may have had in the past. There's a decent selection for adults and kids so you're bound to find something to eat every night. One thing to note is that the restaurant has a dress code for men (nothing mentioned for women at all). During the summer months (June - September) no football t-shirts are allowed in the evening and neither are shorts that go above the knee. During the winter months men must wear trousers. All year round sandles or 'open toe' shoes are not allowed. For breakfast there didn't seem to be any form of dress code. On the whole it seemed like most people stuck to the rule. The bar was open in the evenings with evening entertainment included. Each night there was a singer for around an hour followed by the main show, sometimes an external one or internal by the hotels entertainment staff. The entertainment is nothing special, pretty standard stuff but still good for this kind of market. The hotels entertainment team seem to be a lively bunch, often talking to you during your stay and engaging with the children a lot. I'd imagine kids will love them more than adults though. One thing to note is that you do not pay for drinks with cash anywhere in the hotel. The hotel operates on a tab system where you swipe your hotel card throughout the hotel, and then pay the accumulated bill at the end of your stay. When you order drinks or food you need to sign a receipt which is kept by the hotel, and then you get a copy to keep yourself. We weren't keen on this system of not paying as you go, although found it easy enough to keep track on what needed to be paid when checking out. This is something to note if you're planning a stay though as I know most people aren't a fan of tabs throughout a hotel stay. An issue we found during the evenings in the bar was that it was a pain getting the staffs attention for a drink. Like many other Spanish hotels the staff do not like you ordering at the bar, and this seems more enforced at the Bitacora than any hotel I've been in before. Despite this there didn't seem to be enough staff around and you often find yourself waving your hotel card in the air for 10-15+ minutes before someone notices you want to order. The staff were still friendly although I feel the hotel could do with more people working in this area at night. We stayed during June where it's not too busy so I'd dread to think what it's like in the middle of August. Oh the whole I'd say we had an enjoyable time at the Bitacora. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, most staff would often say hello/hola to you if they walked past you during your stay. The hotel is clean throughout, the rooms are modern, cosy and clean. The restaurant serves a nice selection of food and the hotel on the whole has a very nice atmosphere. If I visit Tenerife ever again I would definitely stay at Bitacora again!More

The good, the bad and the ugly

This is a very British hotel. Breakfast was good, large selection of cooked items, fruit, bread etc. Lunch was OK on the occasions we went for it, opted for salad and had no disappointment. Dinner was awful, we tried it twice and ate out for the other eight nights. Not what you would expect from an all inclusive. Everything is just so overcooked, mushy veggies and dry meat. Free wifi is restricted to the reception area only , if you want it in other areas of the hotel, there is a charge. Except when the free wifi fails and they give the code for the charged one, I don't see why this should be charged, either offer it or don't. Other gripes there are too many sunbeds, so it's all a bit crowded. The animation team are very enthusiastic but become tiresome for adults pretty quickly. Not everything is inclusive on the all-inclusive deal, there are still items that are charged.Nothing in the minibar, when I asked about this I was told that I could just ask for something at the bar. So I did that and was given two beers in cups. The room was a good size but the bathroom was pretty grim with mould growing on the tiles... I just don't get all the five star reviews for this place. It's OK but I was expecting much moreMore

Perfect Holiday

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from Tenerife and we stayed here, the hotel was spectacular as always. I have returned here for many years now and it gets better and better. The room has excellent facilities and we overlooked the pool which was beautiful to wake up to every morning. The food was amazing and there was so much choice for breakfast, lunch and tea, it caters for everyone. The staff are so friendly and kind-hearted which is lovely and the animation team just make the holiday. Could not rate this hotel enough, everything about it is great! Will definitely be returning next year as I do every year as I couldn't find a better hotel, it's brilliant in every single way and would highly rate it! Thank for such an perfect holiday!More

JessHolding,

Great hotel with the best entertainment team!

Recently back from our second visit to the Bitacora. We were so excited to get back there and it did not disappoint! To our amazement and my daughters delight the Bitacora fabulous entertainment team remembered us from our previous visit. My daughter aged 4 was very happy that her fave Javi gave her a big hug when he saw her. They work so very hard to give you the best experience while you are there. So much effort goes into their work for adults and children. The shows they so are fantastic. The mini club is fantastic, great soft play and a massive park to keep the children entertained and there is always games and activities with the entertainers. The hotel is lovely, VERY clean. Rooms are spacious and well decorated wih comfy beds. Food is delicious with a great choice for adults and children. Both my 4 year old and 1 year old never went hungry, there's a little food counter for children and plenty of ice cream. All staff are very kind and go out their way to help you in any way they can. The pools are great and very clean. Can not rate this hotel enough and I am already looking forward to my visit next year!!!More
