Spring Hotel Bitacora

The Spring Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.

The Spring Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.

Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

Bit disappointing, but good for children

We stayed here for a week over the Easter school holiday, with our 2 young children. We had stayed before at the sister hotel, the Volcano just a short walk away and as the Vulcano was booked up we thought we would try the Bitacora. There are certainly some good points, the hotel has clean and fresh feel and is in a good location, a 10 minute walk to the beach and some good shops nearby. The hotel is good for children, there is Springly World which is a new, large play area which our kids loved, a large pool and a smaller childrens pool with a slide. The sunbeds in the vicinity of the pools get reserved early morning by those selfish guests who think they have a right to reserve them all morning, but not use them. It seemed mainly to be those on all inclusive as they get the use of hotel towels for free. This is despite a sign saying reserving sunbeds is not allowed. We found the food a little disappointing, there is lots to choose from for the evening meal and quailty is generally good but there is little variation each day so it becomes a bit repetative. The restaurant is very busy and after the second evening meal we chose to eat each night at the Vulcano (reception at Bitacora give you a slip the day before), which is a much nicer, quieter restaurant although the food is probably the same. Breakfast wasn't that great, a 15 minute queue for fresh pancakes and the sausage, scrambled egg and omlettes were all pretty poor, although if you want a great English breakfast then Spain isn't probably the best place to go. The rooms are a good size but ours was on the front corner above reception which is where the bin and delivery lorries come early moring, so is quite noisy. The hotel should also invest in some Cillit Bang to remove the mould from the tiles round the bath. In summary, we were expecting great things from these reviews and from having been to the Vulcano before. We would certainly return to the Vulcano, although it is probably more suited to older/retired guests, not so much children. The Bitacora is much better for children, but I don't think we will return.More

Fantastic Holiday

Excellent hotel, large, spacious rooms. Hotel is spotless. Staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. There was a good variety of food and our son was well catered for on his coeliac diet (he is very sensitive and didn't have any problems during our stay). The playground is a real bonus if you have children. We did not have any issues getting a sun bed or being served at the bar as some other reviews suggested. We would love to return to this hotel again and would hope that the hotel would be able to make a small adjustment by removing the use of balloons during our stay as our autistic son is very frightened of them. Keep up the great work and hope to see you again.More

Total disappointment

We have just returned yesterday from a week here. We picked this hotel based on reviews on here & all I can say is I do not know how anyone thinks the food here is in anyway good, yes they do omelettes & pancakes for breakfast but they are both not cooked long enough, the food in general was disgusting in the restaurant & at the pool bar. We were all incl & ended up eating out for dinner to restaurants nearby which were lovely. The cocktails were terrible, as was the wine. Our bedroom was good having recently been renovated but the bathroom was awful, dirty grout on the tiles. Our children did however love the park area (it is very good) & heated pool and this hotel is well located for shopping, the beach & eating out so it wasn't all bad.More

Worth coming back!

Great hotel and value for money. Rooms are spacious, clean and fresh. Food is fantastic and full of choices that it is difficult to be dissapointed. Most importantly the staff is attentive and very very friendly. The hotel is located within walking distance to the local amenities and the transport links to other attractions. Good fun for every member of the family. More

Gerardo M,

Excellent

Our second visit to Bitacora and we had a great time there. The hotel is in an excellent location but still very quiet. We booked direct and benefitted from all the extras this provides. We also have a Spring Card which gives 15% discount on all extra beverages and food. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the beds are comfortable. The food was very good, we usually eat out some nights but never felt the need as there was always such a variety on offer. The hotel was full but we never had a problem getting a sun lounger. Wifi worked well throughout the hotel and there was a good choice of UK tv channels. The staff we encountered were all really pleasant and very helpful. This is an excellent well run hotel and we will definitely return.More
