Good Hotel BUT!!!
We have just returned from a two week all inclusive holiday at the Seaside Sandy Beach hotel. We, as English guests, were very much in the minority of the clientele of this German owned hotel. No matter we were still well treated by the extremely helpful staff, and who are the greatest asset of the hotel. The food is generally good,(but the lunchtime menu is uninspiring), in particular the steaks which cooked to order are indeed worth waiting for, and each evening there are a selection of various meats generously carved to your choice . Plenty of sunbeds, and with the addition of mattresses and large beach towels ensured a comfortable rest around the pool area and sun terraces. Good to see pool closure to avoid large wholesale bed reservation, and we were never inconvenienced. Drinks were good and with a fairly balanced selection between international and local. Our room was a junior suite on the 6th floor and we had views across the pool and towards the sea off Playa Del Ingles. It was a quiet room but initially we suffered from a strong sewage smell in the bathroom, which we eased by leaving the window open and the addition of aerosol spray from the nearby supermarket. Now for the BUT. We had read previous reviews about the smoking issues and the responses given by the hotel management in which they claim to be within the law. It is worth pointing out the Canarian laws pertaining to the provision of smoking areas within public places are much more relaxed than those in Spain, and indeed the rest of Europe from where they draw their guests. The outside restaurant at the hotel is covered in large sunshades and brollies, and with little air movement smoke is trapped underneath. Yes they have tables delineated for smokers and non smokers but the gap between the two categories is less than a meter, so eating what is good food combined with cigarette smoke detracts mightily from the dining experience and as children also dine there they too are put at considerable risk. We believe the management should take a more leadership position on this issue and state they will be better than the local law, and ensure all their customers will enjoy a comfortable and relaxed holiday. Sadly I doubt that will happen as a large portion of their guests are German and whom appear to smoke prolifically. So bottom line, sadly we will never return to this hotel.More
Our second stay
We had such a good holiday at the Seaside Sandy Beach in November 2015 we decided to return in 2016, something we have very rarely done over the last 42 years. If anything the hotel has improved, and it was excellent in 2015. From the glass of champagne while you are checking in to the lavish buffet meals and the excellent service we are constantly spoilt. The Seaside Sandy Beach has free wi-fi in the rooms, around the pool and in all the common areas. The rooms have a/c, a fridge and safe, all free and even a complimentary small bottle of wine when you arrive and free bottles of water each day. It's just a 5 minute walk to the beach and places to shop, eat and drink and a 15 minute walk to the Yumbo (?) Centre for more shops, restaurants and evening entertainment. I highly recommend the Seaside Sandy Beach hotel in Playa del Ingles.More
Was a lovely hotel. Food was always hot and great selection. Loved eating al fresco. Drinks were good and alcohol were imported Spirits, Smirnoff etc location was spot on. Close to the beach, shops and bars. Perfect location for everything. The only downside was the hotel entertainment. Aimed mainly at the German, but was nothing special and not worth watching. Spent most evenings at the pool bar rather than at the entertainment. Overall a good hotel just the entertainment letting this hotel downMore
