Super Sandy Beach
This is my tenth visit to Gran Canaria and have stayed at seven different hotels. The Seaside Sandy Beach - my eighth hotel - scores pretty well when compared to the previous seven. I was welcomed with a glass of bubbly and was processed efficiently at Reception. I wasn't granted my request for a high floor room, but was given a family room on the same floor as Reception (fourth floor). This consisted of a separate lounge with a flat screen television, two fridges and a microwave. There was also a flat screen television in the bedroom. In the bathroom there was both a bath and a walk-in shower, and a generous supply of toiletries. Complimentary water and a small bottle of wine, plus fruit and a little Christmas gift of sweeties, were also provided. So I was happy with the room. Not much of a view but the balcony afforded some privacy. I noticed that the balconies facing the pool are somewhat lacking in privacy and when using the fire escapes at both ends of the building, you can see into the rooms. The restaurant - once I found it! - is mostly outside. Tables are close together and separated from the serving counters by a circular bar. Some food items - different meats, chips, garlic bread - were on offer every night, with variety provided by theme nights. Steaks and other meats can be freshly cooked to order. For breakfast, again a good variety. but bacon and sausages catered for German tastes (Germans and Scandinavians being the majority of the clientele). So the good points that stand out for me is the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, free Wi Fi in the room, and close to the beach and the night life. I cannot comment on the entertainment in the hotel as I did not see it. If I am going to nit pick, three things: 1. I did become a little weary towards the end of my week's holiday of playing "find a table" at dinner and having to weave my way through people and squeezing past tables to the serving counters, and passing smokers. 2. There is a large number of television channels available, including BBC1,2 and 4, but it was always "No Signal" for the BBC channels. 3. There are no Jacuzzis for general use. There are two private Jacuzzi terraces available for 50 Euros per day, but these were fully booked until Christmas. For a four star hotel I would have expected this facility for all guests - one by the pool and perhaps one on the seventh floor sunbathing terrace. Also, I thought the sauna on the tenth floor was rather small for the size of the hotel and busy when I looked in. I noticed that there is a closed sauna on the third floor. So all in all, this hotel ticks my boxes and I would certainly consider it for a return visit. The weather for the first week of December was mixed - sunshine and clouds, in the low to mid seventies and rather windy at times. It did not get dark until 6.30.More

From the moment my daughter and myself arrived from Glasgow we were treated to an exceptional experience. I can say that this is a superb hotel and the staff were amazing. From reception, dinning, pool bar, cleaning, pool attendant...everybody was exactly what you wanted in a nice relaxing holiday. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and quite modern (the bottles of water and wine in the room was a nice touch). The pool area was clean and well laid out. I have seen comments about people not getting beds but we had no issue at all no matter what time we went down. The girl who worked the pool bar almost every day (no name but long brown hair tied back) was absolutely lovely and always had a ready smile. You are mear moments from the Yumbo centre and the beach the other direction. Food was good quality, plentiful, fresh and had a good selection of dishes. Bar staff were good and you didn't get any moans I find in other hotels because I drink coffee at night when most are drinking alcohol. Both my daughter and myself were truly impressed by this hotel and the staff. SuperbMore
We previously visited Playa del Ingles, nearly 20 years ago, staying in self catering accommodation with other family members. Now retired and wanting some pre-winter sun just the 2 of us, no appendages, we decided to visit the Seaside Sandy Beach Hotel, based on Trip Advisor reviews from previous visitors. We were not disappointed in any respect of the hotel and its staff, all of whom worked so hard to ensure a super holiday. Small point, but if you are arriving mid afternoon (we flew from Manchester) lunch serving stops at 15.30pm and dinner does not start serving until 18.00. Not a big problem but if you have been up from 5.00am, have just a chicken roll on the flight and not arrive at the hotel until just after 15.30pm, hunger can be a problem! Yes, lovely cakes and pastries at the pool bar, but nothing more substantial. We made up for this initial lack of sustenance during the following 11 days with gusto and can only concur with all those who have praised the excellent cuisine at Sandy Beach. The hotel pool is fairly small but lovely and warm, even in November and has a section specially designed for children. None of the pools were crowded at any time during our stay. Others have described the system for getting a sunbed/towels etc. and this seems to work fine. Having read reports about rooms on lower floors having restricted views due to trees, we emailed the hotel, prior to our visit, requesting a higher floor 'Type B' room (pool facing) and were very pleased to be allocated room 504 which was easily accessed from the restaurant, bar & pool but not too close to be disturbed by noise. The room was fine with modern furniture, small fridge (useful, even when all-inclusive) and a well appointed shower room; no bath but a really good power shower and a hair drier which my wife appreciated. The hotel even provides a candle and matches, which gives a nice ambience when sitting on your balcony, sipping your pre-dinner drinks! The hotel is well positioned, being just a short stroll from the fabulous beach and yes we did walk round the headland to the lighthouse at Maspalomas. We visited the beach on most days and swam in the sea which was pleasantly warm even in November. Yes there is a nudist beach, as described by others but the areas for sunbathing/swimming nude are separate from those where people prefer more modest attire and seemed not to cause any problems for anyone. We did not hire a car, go on excursions or visit any other bars/restaurants as we deliberately chose this hotel for a 'chill-out' holiday which it provided in abundance. The evening entertainment does vary but we saw some very good shows (the magician was particularly good) and were entertained by the musicians whilst enjoying our post-dinner drinks, well I did say we made up for our initial abstinence! Would we go again, yes definitely and we would certainly recommend this hotel for people wanting a late summer sunshine holiday in a comfortable, well appointed and friendly hotel.More

Another Great Holiday with Seaside Hotels
Having just got back from 11 nights at Sandy Beach, It has everything you want on a AI holiday. Perfect food, large clean room, lovely bathroom with power shower, towels changed daily ,TV showing english channels i.e. BBC ITV etc. Entertainment in the evening (a bit hit or miss ) But the hotel is only a walk away from the Nightlife of Playa el Ingles A good irish Bar called Dunes and Tunes live music every night just down the road. Had a birthday while there and the hotel gave us a Cake in the room with a bottle of Champagne. We also hired the private terrace with jacuzzi only 50 euros for the day and again champagne provided with a lovely bowl of fresh fruit. The only problem we had was when we arrived we were showed our room and it had not been cleaned from the previous clients not a good start but having stayed at another Seaside Hotel we knew anything would be put right and we were correct we went and had lunch then the Manager come and found us and showed us to our room in person. In the fridge was water and fruit and a bootle of Champagne Thinking about it we did drink a lot of champagne. Good holiday.More
theresa s, st leonards on sea
My wife and I have just stayed for a week on an AI basis and yes all the reviews about the food are pretty accurate, plenty of good quality choice with chefs cooking steak, fish & omelettes to order and enough variety for the week. Spotlessly clean everywhere with a great group of staff in a well run hotel, although sometimes there was a small wait for drinks at dinner (however get a bottle as they provide a cooler), usually got a seat straight away although some tables are too close to other patrons and the smoking section. Pool bar service was excellent throughout for drinks and afternoon waffles. AI drinks are not all branded although quite good for AI (much better than other hotels). We spent most of our time out or at the beach however never had a problem getting a sunbed at any time of day even after the queuing brigade ! (the strict little pool man made sure access was only allowed after 08.45), a little cramped in places although not worse than anywhere else around a pool. As seen in other reviews we did not seen any real favouritism towards the mainly German guests and found everyone quite polite & friendly. Beds comfy and great powerful shower with maid service daily, simply fill in the form for unlimited tea, coffee and water for your own fridge, TV not always brilliant but enough to catch the sport and news headlines, free Wi-Fi throughout was a real bonus, safes in the room for 2 euros per day. Loads of storage space and got 20 extra hangers within 5 mins of asking. Entertainment not great quality to be honest, however go out through reception straight to the junction at the end of the road (500 mtrs) take a left turn it's the Yumbo centre (5-10 mins max) with a good mix of shops and bars, as other reviewers have mentioned we didn't feel intimidated or harassed at all and found it a good cosmopolitan atmosphere with some really cheap duty free shopping (Rui Perfume for Ray Ban and perfume). Head to the lighthouse at Faro de Maspalomas for amazing sunsets, better quality restaurants and the designer shops & boutiques (only 6 euros from the hotel in a taxi). For the local beach cut through the restaurant and use the back lift/stairs for a 5 min stroll down to the beach with a nice supermarket on the left and the Sahara bar showing all football games at the bottom of the road, plenty of beach type bars and McD's for a lunch time snack with two beds & parasol for 7.50 euros all day. For a good day out try the No 32 bus from the Yumbo centre to the up market and beautiful Puerto Mogan, take a water taxi to Puerto Rico then a bus back to Playa de Ingles for considerably less than the official trip, we would definitely go back for a week's winter sun.More
