I stayed at the Sandy Beach Hotel with my husband & 16 year old son between 14-25th July. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the reception staff & given our room on the 8th floor. We were too late for dinner but in our room they had provided fruit, yoghurt, a bit of salad, bread roll & water. You are given a card each for all inclusive, no wristband (yay). Our room was great, clean, modern, really good shower & overlooked the pool. It had a little walk in wardrobe, plenty of storage, small fridge, air con, wifi & safe (extra charge). Cleaned daily & fresh towels every day, if you wanted. We were there for a relaxing break & wanted sunbeds for the day, so yes, we had to queue for them, but not till 9am, so you don't have to be up too early! Pool towels are provided free, just ask reception, you can change these daily. Food- Wow- lots of choice for every meal. Everything we had was of good quality. Especially liked the roasted meats at dinner time- beef, pork, chicken, turkey & lamb. There always seemed something different & we didn't feel like the food got samey after 11 days. Cake puddings looked lovely, there were plenty of fruit choices & nice ice cream. Twice at dinner there was a chocolate fountain, with fresh fruit for dipping (yum). The staff were all pleasant & worked extremely hard, they always greeted you with a smile & a hello. It was also good to see the Manager working in the restaurant. Even Migel the pool attendant,( he was so sweet ), always running around, changing towels for you & trying to fit in extra sunbeds for late comers. We hired the rooftop terrace for the day (50 euros) on the 11th floor. It had a jucuzzi, plenty of sunbeds, fridge, fruit,& champagne. We did enjoy our day, it was really hot & we did burn a little due to being in & out of the water so much. The hotel was about 5 mins walk from the beach, lovely sand, lots of little shops & some lovely places to eat. We went there for a Chinese one night, 6.95 euros each, all you can eat. It was lovely food. In the other direction was the Yumbo centre, 8 mins walk. Again lots of places to eat, souvenir, clothes & perfume shops. One evening we went to 'Sparkles' a show bar. Hosted by drag queens. I thought it was quite funny but the boys felt a bit uncomfortable, lol. On a whole we had a fab time. Everything about the hotel was great, even the wifi worked everywhere. Food was plentiful & lovely, room great, location great, staff great, weather great ( hot everyday). All evening show were professional ones, they were quite good. My only criticism, would be that smoking was allowed during mealtimes. I know there was a designated area for smoking, but smoke travels, usually in my direction!! :( I'm sure there's no need to smoke while you eat!! Would we go back? Yes without hesitation. If you have booked this hotel, you will have a brilliant time :) :)More

Fantastic 4*hotel that should be a 5*
Myself, my 13 year old daughter and my godmother have just returned from a weeks stay at the seaside sandy beach hotel. This is my 5th visit to gran canaria but my first time staying in playa del ingles. The hotel was amazing. The rooms were spacious, well equipped and clean. Our view over the pool from room 606 was fantastic. The outside eating area was well thought out and we never struggled to get a table. The food was lovely with a wide choice every day for each meal and the puddings / cakes / fresh fruit were my favourite ( no good for my diet tho ) the hotel staff were so polite and helpful at all times and all always smiling. They work so hard but always greet u with ola and a smile ð. As far as the hotel goes 10/10.... Now first choice holidays .. In house rep ... Rude, unapologetic, obnoxious and dislikeable ! We booked a half day trip and were told where to wait for the bus to collect us .. No map ! Low and behold we waited in the wrong place and missed our longed for trip ... I contacted first choice who in turn contacted the rep .... And there any hope of customer service ended with said rep !! Had I accepted his refusal to refund the â¬75 I had paid for the trip first choice would have forever been in my bad books ... However they redeemed themselves slightly even after not calling me back twice when they promised to by eventually refunding my money. The point that the rep seemed to miss altogether was that it was his lack of instructions that made us go to the wrong place and the disappointment we felt for not being able to go on the trip ... But he just couldn't see that. He was all for covering his back and not missing out on the excursion commission. ... Weather was roughly 35-40 degrees each day and about 25 at night ... Defo needed the aircon we had. The hotel organised a bottle of champagne on my birthday which was a lovely surprise and extra special touches here and there made for an unforgettable holiday . We would definitely go back but 23.10 return flight home is a never again ! And I will organise the excursions on line before I go in future if at all !More

Lovely stay for a late 18th present for my sister.
Reading previous reviews, we requested a refurbished room on the 5th storey or above. This is exactly what we got, lovely view of the pool. We were on floor 8 in room 829 - room was perfect, nice chairs and table, fridge, kettle and a range of toiletries provided. We stayed for 5 days all inclusive. We've previously stayed as a family at the 'Los Jameos Playa in Lanzarote' which is one of our favourite hotels, also run by the Seaside group. Because we love that hotel so much, after reading the reviews of seaside in Gran Canaria, we thought we would give this a try. On an all inclusive basis, this hotel was perfect for us, the cocktail menu is brilliant, incl. Passion, Sex on the beach, pina colada and cosmopolitan. The food was also outstanding with chefs cooking meats in front of you, and the salad bar was also highly varied with lots of choice; even picky eaters would find something to eat. Every night there is a themed buffet, whilst we were there, this incl. chinese, canarian and swiss night. In addition to this, we did not have trouble getting a sunbed in the morning and considering we went at the end of July (21st-26th) during the busy period, this was brilliant for us. The only thing I would say is go down for half 8 to get in the queue if you would like a particular area; the staff let people reserve sunbeds from 9am. For us as 2 young girls, the location was perfect, as just up the road you can walk to the beach, shops, etc. There are also plenty of bars, clubs and restaurants, although we made the most of the entertainment in the all inclusive (the circus night acrobatics was particularly good!) The only negative I would say about our experience was the activities. Activities such as, aqua aerobics, darts, tennis, etc. were put on daily. - Although, these were not really announced clearly enough. For example, we would have really liked to do the aqua aerobics, but kept missing this as we didn't know what time it was on. All in all, we had a lovely stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay again for a nice, quiet and relaxed break with entertainment in the evenings :).More

Best hotel by far
Just got back from a fantastic holiday at this hotel. Had two amazing weeks in July. Arrived at 11pm 11 July but found two plated meals with water and wine in the room. Large clean room with air conditioning on. Only one flight of stairs to sun loungers. Had to queue but got one every morning. Every member of staff were friendly and hard working. The food was plentiful, varied and cooked to order. Hired the jacuzzi which was well worth it. Big mention to all the pool bar staff who were amazing. Well worthy of its 4stars. Would recommend this hotel for all ages. Thank you for a brilliant holiday.More

Bed Race 2015
Excellent hotel just got back from this hotel after spending 2 weeks there . The staff are great and could not be any nicer always happy to help Food is outstanding plenty of choices and always fresh. Rooms are modern and cleaned every day towels renewed daily you can get fresh water and drinks from the bar to top up your fridge without any issues its not far to the beach and all the bars and restaurants the bars in the hotel are very relaxing the bar at the pool is lovely to sit in after dinner and have a few drinks and relax. To the sunbeds the pool opens at 09.00am sharp and by 09.01am all the bed are gone . This is the best entertainment of the day stand on your balcony and have a look at the madness of the people running for beds they start to queue around 08.00am an hour before the pool opens the hotel staff do there cleaning of the pool area then remove the barrier tape from the entrance then the people run for dear life some of them throw there towel at the bed when running towards them it is complete and utter mayhem The Germans blame the English the English blame the Germans and it goes on the ironic thing is there is no need for them to do this the hotel staff will try to get you a sunbed if you ask them we never had a problem getting a bed when we needed them but their were some couples that did have issues getting beds and would head for the beach. But as I said before if you ask the pool attendant they will accommodate you I don't know what the hotel staff must think about the actions of some of the people its hard work for them as there is sometimes some heated moments over the beds with people arguing over them [how sad is this] any way you will have a blast at this hotel don't get caught up with the sad people making a fools of themselves in the sunbed race relax and chill out it the perfect place to have nice holiday order a nice drink from the bar lay back and enjoy the sun. Big thanks to all the staff your are all excellent from the moment we arrived till we departedMore
