As the name suggests, this place is right by the beach. It’s also got a rather stylish pool.

An efficiently run hotel

On arrival we received a welcome chilled glass of cava and check in was fast with our bags being whisked away to our room by a very nice porter. Our room was spacious on the second floor not far from the restaurant which was very handy. We looked out onto the road, opposite the Tagoror apartments, and although we were directly above the road, we were never bothered by noise. The balconies on this side of the hotel are really large and do get the sun. No real view as this is a built up area. It's a pity that the beds are two singles pushed together as they did not stay together and had obviously had a lot of use. When you sat on one of them the springs were a bit creaky to say the least. Having said that, they were comfy enough and the pillows were also to our liking. Large double sliding wardrobe with a full length mirror on one side and plenty hangers. The safe box is in here and costs an extra 2 euros a day but the air-con is free. Fridge and kettle in the room but you have to order tea/coffee etc via the slips provided and take them to reception as required. You can, if you wish coffee in the morning before the breakfasts start, go to the restaurant and ask for a pot to take to your room. Very obliging staff. We weren't that impressed with the poolside bar as there wasn't a lot of places to sit in comfort just to chat and enjoy the atmosphere. It wasn't that busy when we were there so can only imagine what it 'd be like when at full capacity. We were told whilst there that they are going to close in June to refurbish the pool area and the main bar area and I feel that should improve the whole setting as not many seats at the main bar either. Not really a complaint, more of an observation. We didn't do any of the excursions so can't comment on that. The food was excellent with many varied choices and a different theme every night. Steaks and fish cooked to your specifications as you waited with already cooked meats including roast lamb and duck. A huge selection of side dishes to add, to suit your own taste. Desserts abound, choice of different cheeses to finish and table service for your drink of choice. The manageress here is so good at her job and at meal times if we were struggling to find a table, she would immediately approach us and find us one almost right away. The staff here never stop working and I'm sure a small gratuity here and there is very welcome. They are all so gracious and friendly. Well done, it was greatly appreciated and added to our enjoyment throughout our stay. The highlight for us at this hotel was the jacuzzi room on the 10th floor. There is one on the 11th also but we booked the 10th floor 3 times in the fortnight we were there. It costs 50 euros for a day and your times are 10a.m - 10p.m. This is a large outdoor room which is lockable for your privacy and no-one is allowed to walk past the area as it's cordoned off. The waiter brings you champagne and fruit at lunch time and you're free to phone and have drinks brought up throughout your time here. You are given a key so it's no problem when you want lunch etc. There are 2 public nudist terraces below this floor which can be used free of charge. We did a fair bit of walking around the area which is pleasant but be aware that the sellers are out in force and pounce on you every chance they get. They are not too pushy and a few times of saying "No thank you" usually does the trick. Also note the people who are not selling Timeshare and don't be taken in by winning a prize on the cards they hand out. Again, a polite "no thanks" works. The day we were due to come home we went to reception to see if we could keep the room a bit longer as we had a late flight. Ursula once again came up trumps and we kept the room 'til 3:30p.m. at no charge. There is an onsite hairdresser just at reception, and the man who owns the business and is the actual hairdresser is absolutely lovely. I decided to have a shampoo and blow dry before we flew. Beautiful job. We had a lovely stay at this hotel and couldn't fault the service and friendliness we received whilst here. However, the world is a big place and the clock is ticking so we will likely try somewhere less built up for our next trip. Thank you to everyone at Sandy Beach, and keep up the great work that you do.More

Very good hotel especially by Gran Canaria standards

As a rule most hotels/apartments have been pretty basic on Playa Del Ingles/Maspalomas and well below the standards in the UK. This hotel however was the exception to the rule. Large air conditioned rooms and for the first time, English channels. It also included free wifi, again another first. Rooms are modern, well decorated and very clean. Food wise nothing to complain about. I went for half board and there was a large buffet selection although I'd say vegetarians would struggle to work out what they can eat as a couple of dishes I thought were meat free had ham in. There was plenty of table space both on the terrace in the restaurant behind. As for the pool area, beds were not made available until after 9am plus the reserving of sunbeds with towels seemed to be very limited, most of the poolside sunbeds were free during the day. Finally the staff at the hotel were awesome, friendly in every area. They made an effort to be friendly and even came out to say goodbye when I was waiting for my transfer coach. I'd stay here again.More

Amazing Hotel must stay !

My partner and I have just returned from a week stay. I can honestly say the hotel is amazing! The best part of the hotel is the food. It is just amazing every meal time there was massive choice and made better by the table service from the staff. The hotel is in a great location out of the hustle and bustle but only a very short walk away!! I would defiantly go back to this hotel and would recommend to everyone !!More

Excellent Hotel but the resort a bit of a let down

What a fantastic hotel. Food, rooms, staff and cleanliness all excellent. If I was going to nitpick then the hotel needs another bar. It has a lovely poolside bar but this shuts at 7pm, a nightclub/bar and a bar situated in the middle of the restaurant. It needs a fourth casual bar maybe for a bit of surfing, a few table games or even a sports TV. All rooms have Sky TV so why not have a little bar somewhere amongst the huge complex. The resort is somewhat tired and needs a facelift. This hotel is an oasis amongst mediocrity but I would go back just for this hotel.More
