The Spring Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.

Liked this hotel a lot
We were recommended this hotel by friends so spent a week here this month. Our room was really lovely, we had our young daughter with us and she had a sofa bed or another bed to choose from. The room was spotlessly clean and looked very fresh and modern. Our room was opposite the lift so we groaned when we saw this as usually rooms by lifts are very noisy. However, we have to admit that we heard nothing. It was very quiet in our room, I guess we were lucky with the neighbours we had. Our room had a great view overlooking the pools and sea. The food was varied and of a high standard. Breakfasts especially were great, there was a chef making fresh crepes which could be filled with nutella and other things if desired. Just watching this process was really relaxing!!!! The queues for pancakes and omelettes were long unless you got to breakfast early. Our main worry about the hotel was the usual holiday fiasco about getting up early to get a sunbed. Halfway during our stay the process changed and if anybody got sunbeds in the morning, they had to remain on them, or at least one of the party had to be there, between 08.30 and 10.00, as the towel police came to remove any towels that had just been left there with nobody around sitting on them. This definitely had its advantages. I have to admit that watching gaggles of people standing around talking about the sunbedgate saga was very amusing. Yes we got up early, but sometimes we got seats fairly late, there were loads around, even if not surrounding the pools directly, but we managed well. Our 8 year old daughter loved the water slide (as did I) and it gave us a chance to relax knowing that she was occupied and happy in the water. There have been complaints about one of the lifeguards being strict! So he was strict and blew his whistle - good! He was doing his job watching our kids be safe! How can people argue about that??? Oh easy, people like to argue or complain about most things. I was reassured he was there keeping people in line with pool safety. Someone complained about being overrun with cockroaches!!! Really??? We only saw one the whole trip, and this silly cockroach flew in through the open window one night to join in with the entertainment and became the star attraction until he got disposed of by a member of the entertainment team!!! I have mixed views of the entertainment team. Yes they were around a lot, yes they seemed to like kids and adults, but not sure that they did all they could have done to rev the crowds. They didn't seem to bother to get people to join in with a major activity, eg the Latin day, they had the guys playing fantastic drums, great samba music, the team were in costumes to have a carnival, and they just danced a bit around sections of the grounds, when they should have coerced people to get off their sunbeds and join in with them and dance!!! It could have been far more interactive than it was. The drummers were really fab and then did some acrobatics in the garden after they stopped the drums! Enjoyable, but could have been even more so with a bit more enthusiasm from the team to involve the crowds. The restaurant staff were quick to seat us and quick to clear used plates. The restaurant did get busy but to be expected at peak times. The pool bar was always busy but the staff served quickly so we never had to queue for too long. We did the all inclusive thing which we have not done before, and yes, we never starved. There were the usual long lines of people getting their moneys worth from the all inclusive, beer, chips, burgers and more beer! Cant quite believe how much some people just went for it no matter what! Would we stay again? Yes, hotel had a warm atmosphere, so generally a really feel good place to be. Very enjoyable.More
As good as ever !
Just returned from 2 week family holiday in Bitacora on Friday past. This was our 6th visit here and it was as good as ever. Half way through the holiday they implemented a new rule regarding sun beds - you can reserve your bed any morning, however you need to be on your bed at 8.30 - otherwise they take your towels from the bed. This is the best thing that they could have done, we seen people reserving beds before this and then heading off for the full day. This new rule eliminates this now. You could actually go down around 9.30-10.00 and have no problems getting sun beds. All in all another great holiday here, no issues with food or staff, if I had one complaint it would only be that the entertainment could be better, however I do understand they are trying to cater for everyone.More
We are staying here now, room large with comfy beds, lovely food, pools actually warm water, good entertainment, and you don't have to get up early for sun beds anymore as there is a new rule where they take them away if you reserve before breakfast which is working great! I'm so pleased with this. The only negative is the lifeguards are too strict, kids can't have fun as they get told off just for jumping in or throwing a ball. I'm all for health and safety where kids are concerned but it's going a bit far. If it wasn't for this it would be the most perfect hotel!More

I felt the need to comment on the sunbed situation as so many of the reviews on here are negative about them. It is 14.05 and as I stand on my balcony I can see at least 50 beds not taken. The new rules mean that people are not risking having their things taken and therefore not hogging beds they're not using all day. We went down to the pool this morning at 10, we could have picked to sit by either pool easily. If things are left on the beds they are removed from 8.30am and put into bags labelled with the bed number they were on. We'll done Bitacora, this has made the sunbeds accessible to everyone not just those who wake up at 5am!More
Cannot fault this hotel. Staff work very hard. Rooms very clean. Excellent choice of food. Plenty for the children to do. Entertainment team not always our choice of entertainment but they worked very hard, you cannot please everyone. Life guard very strict but he is only working in the best interest of health and safety. The only negative is we were all inclusive but had to pay for drinks/food after 12 we did not leave until 7pm. We have been here before and we have booked again for next august already.More
