Spring Hotel Bitacora

The Spring Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.

The Spring Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.

Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

good hotel in an excellent location shame about the the other guest.

We have just returned from 10 days at the hotel and I would say that the hotel was a good choice for families. We were on the 5th floor and had a pool view. The only downside was a lack of privacy as we were in the corner and other apartments could see in. This is fine as long as you remember to close the curtains.... The hotel was very clean and well run and we didn't experience any real problems whilst staying at the hotel. The rooms are spacious and the balconies are a good size which is a god send when the kids are asleep and you want to escape them. The rooms that over look the pool are good however be prepared for music until midnight. At first this wasn't great but we just embraced it and we quite enjoyed it by the end if the holiday. The food is good and staff are very efficient and they are great with the children. We were not used to staying half board but we never struggled to find some thing new to eat every night The location of the hotel was great and was just a short walk to the main strip that has the nice shops on. The children play park is excellent and they have some nice seating for the parents to sit in the shade. I was very impressed with this park and it was clear that it was brand new as was the soft play area which was part of the kids club. The only downside to this hotel was the fact we had an item of clothing stolen from our room which we didn't report due to the fact we weren't sure until we packed for home. Please make sure you lock all of you stuff away. This did put a negative slant to the holiday and a couple of other guests had mentioned that there had been other incident of bags going missing on previous trips. The other downside to this hotel can also be some of the other guests in particular the all inclusive guests who seem to think that they should do what they want. ie taking all the sun shades and summoning staff and they don't seem to care if they smoke in front of and blow smoke in your children faces. Although this is the hotels fault the rules about sun loungers and towels seemed not to be enforced and it was a bit of a game getting a Sun lounger at times unless your were prepared to get up at 6.00am. On the whole this is a good hotel in a good spot which is excellent for young families.More

A great holiday with a sour ending

We have just returned from our stay at Bitacora, travelling as a family with two boys aged 13 and 16. The hotel is in a great location, nice and quiet but a 5 min walk from bars, beach and entertainment. It was also a 5 min taxi ride from Siam Park and the free bus stop was outside the hotel. We found the hotel very comfortable and friendly. It is a quieter hotel with day time activities but aimed at under 13s so not a lot for teenagers to do. The rooms were large, clean and well presented. The main bar area was a pleasant space with lots of seating, inside and outside. A great drinks selection with excellent cocktails. The waiters worked hard to service you at your tables which was very efficient at the beginning of our stay, but as the hotel got busier, it became more difficult to get a drink and we went from glasses to plastic cups. The entertainment we saw was good, the team worked hard to entertain with song and dance with tribute bands too. The pink party they held one day around the pool was fun with every member of staff wearing pink...even the cleaners!! The pool was ok, a little small but good to cool off. We found the lifeguard a bit strict too. He did like his whistle..a lot!!! We were all told off for playing catch with a small water ball...which my husband questioned and was told adults couldn't play ball with their kids!! Also note that they do not allow inflatables so don't bother packing or buying any. This was understandable given its size. The pool's prime sunbeds seemed to be taken up by returning guests every day who knew the gameplay, so we were up at 6am in the dark to get semi decent beds. The pool bar staff were very friendly and efficient, with ice creams and lollies available throughout the day and the snack bar was good too. We did find the whole issue of using your room card to order drinks a bit fustrating. What were the wrist bands for? Even to get a bottle of water was a faff, as you had to wait until the pool bar was open to get one. On another point, we arrived at the hotel after midnight and could not get a drink or food after our journey. It would have been nice to have had a couple of bottles of water in our fridge for our arrival as we then had to wait until breakfast the following morning. The food was good, at times there were good choices with salads, freshly cooked meat and meals. The puddings were excellent including a choice of six help yourself icecreams with sprinkles, cream and sauces. The highlight of every meal!! The staff worked really hard and were happy which made the dining experience more enjoyable. All in all a great holiday but unfortunately it had a sour end. As our flight was at midnight we had to check out of the hotel at midday, handing back room keys etc. we then found that our all inclusive deal had ended too, without any warning. We were amazed that we then had to spend 10 hours in the hotel without any food or drink until our pick up was due. This has never happened at any previous hotels we've stayed all inclusive in and we felt it was really mean, especially as we didn't arrive until after midnight on day 1, so we only received 6 day all inclusive for a 7 night deal. We would recommend this hotel for all the good points mentioned but feel that they need to change their all inclusive policies particularly for guests travelling at night. The all inclusive package should be valid until you leave the hotel not when you have check out of the room.More

Top class, but take an alarm clock !!!

This was my second visit to the hotel in three years, we returned because the first time was fantastic. This time was just as good. The food is above average for a four star hotel, the rooms are excellent, the staff are very professional whilst unobtrusive. The hotel is centrally located for both playa de las Americas and Los christianos. The reception,is spacious, the entertainment is good, and the activities are excellent. In short this hotel is as good as a four star hotel you will stay in,in any part of Europe and I speak, from extensive experience. So far so good............now to the strangest part. Last time I stayed at the hotel you had to arise at 7am to get chance of a sun bed, I'm not talking about a prime front row spot, I'm talking about any sun bed. This time around I thought that 7am would be enough and arose with bleary eyes in order to claim two beds. On arrival at the poolside in pitch black, I was shocked to see almost every sun bed towelled up. The next day I was up at 6am. I made my way to the pool to find a steady stream of zombie like creatures, all muttering morning to each other as they made their way to place towels on the beds which were still wet through after being hosed down, all this in the dark, a sort of twilight zone if you would. Thinking I was on top of the game, the next day I woke up,again and made my way to the pool doors, this time there was a queue, as the doors we're still locked. At. 6am they were unlocked by the duty receptionist and the zombies ran out to claim their prize. After a few seconds a shock wave ran through the zombies, even though they thought they were the first to get to the sun beds, they were wrong, shock horror, there were towels already on some. How had this been possible, we're people leaving them out at night ? The answer was given by a professional, who laughed when confronted by the locked door, you simply cannot beat the British holiday maker, who, simply by passed the locked doors and used the fire exit to get to the pool, area. Conclusion is, take an alarm clock, if you want a sun bed be prepared to get up.More

Excellent hotel for families

Just returned from our holiday here with our 2 children. Brilliant place to take kids there's lots to do and the park and mini club is the best I've seen. Swimming pools are great although the lifeguard was a bit over strict at times. The food is outstanding so much choice and lovely fresh meats and fish cooked at the grill every night. The evening entertainment was always really good and the staff very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to everyone with children. More
