Clean, Nice, Good.

Of course one can fight about the all-inclusive mentality. I personally am not an all-inclusive fan either and I find that People let themselves go when they have free Drinks from the morning time on. but except for the obligatory half naked overweight drunk sun burned all inclusive People, this Hotel is really nice. the staff is beyond friendly, it's clean, the Food is good. it's sad that they offer fruit from cans at breakfast instead of fresh fruit but i guess fresh local fruits it's a cost factor not many People appreciate enough. i had my own activities planned out and the Location of ifa catarina is a good central starting Point to get wherever. a massive compliment to francois and josé-luis, the Animation Entertainers who really are outstandingly funny and friendly :) anytime again! thanks for an outstanding vacationMore

Great holiday, many ups/downs.

I spent a week here start of september and upon first impressions of the building its lovely. The weather was fantastic all holiday reaching 30+. this hotel has many ups and downs so ill list them together with negatives first: in my opinion this is a 3 star hotel, the rooms are very tidy but if you like your tv your in for disappointment, there are only 2 english channels which are sky news and what i presumed was a movie channel (with spanish subtitles). There are no kitchen facilities so you'll have to make tea down at breakfast. The mini fridge we had stunk, seriously, wouldnt of put a bottle of water in there. as many others have said, the beds are very hard and would recommend asking for a bed topper. the food here was great if your not a vegetarian. My other half dosnt eat meat or fish so was pretty much left with spaghetti and chips, since everything here has some kind of meat in.. cant even be just a cheese sandwich, has to have ham in... We asked for a lunch to take on our day trip out, and was provided with everything to make a sandwich ourselves.. bread, butter, a knife, ham and cheese (wrapped together in poor clingfilm). which pretty much let me annoyed. The carpets do need a redo, we had what seemed to be a big bleached carpet outside the room from a big spill.. (we asked if we could have a higher room for a view, and was given a room on the bottom floor, facing the road on the corner of the hotel.) about right. Nobody speaks english much (ofcourse right,) well they speak like 5 languages everytime they say something, and they speak fast so be ready to listen well. you only get wifi in the reception, and pay for it for anywhere else in the hotel. The webiste says there are shopping centers close by, whilst there is, its nothing major. more like a small market with everybody hastling you to come have a look in their shop and changing prices that are displayed at the till. The beach is something of a walk, when you do find it and you meet the sand dunes (which are beautiful!) you realise it is half a job to cross it to the sea, so take a bus that they provide. the hotel is obviously your normal hotel, it caters for MANY people who come in which can make the place busy. Everything has prices on it, and its in spanish so when you want something and they tell you its not included, and you have a hard time finding out okay what actually is because they have so many un-AI in there. We wanted some ice tea wihch wasnt included. and many types of coffee.. did not feel AI sometimes so we drank alot of coke and water. Good points: The staff are wonderful, so lively and grateful to everyone. they treat you as an individual each time you see them, and will thank you for seeing them for a drink or food. Pretty nice, the sunbeds cant be reserved before 8am and they remove towels, so you dont need to be up early to worry, i went to reserve at 8am and there was every sunbed available. im a meat lover, so food was fantastic for me, always plenty of choice and somethings of a great quallity. entertainers did a song every day at 1 which always put smiles on peoples faces, great bunch of people. on the last day your AI finishes at 12 and our flight home didnt make us leave untill 6pm.. but the staff gave us a free lunch and a lounge to keep our stuff in with showers, toilets etc. which was really helpful. But dam were those pools cold! seems like there were more downs then ups of the hotel, but it was a fantastic holiday. The people your with make the holiday what it is and we had a great time. but thats all the things we never knew before making our choice. Deffinately 3* hotelMore

Samuel h,

Wonderful holidays at IFA Catarina, Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas

I spent one week in the IFA Catarina hotel in Gran Canaria, Playa del Ingles at the beginning of August. First of all, I would like to point out that weather and sea temperatures are very nice at this time of year in Gran Canaria. The hotel was very nice. Staff members were not only very welcoming but also professionnal. They help you out whenever you have questions. The rooms are very nice and clean. The view is on the gardens and you can see Maspalomas light house and the dunes of Maspalomas as well as the mountains from the room but no street views at all, which was very appreciated. The view was really stunning. The situation of the hotel is therefore very calm. What I did not really like in the hotel was the restaurant. I only ate breakfasts at IFA Catarina: therefore, I cannot comment on lunch and dinner times. Breakfasts were really good on the whole but a few things were always missing on the tables, which I did not appreciate. Every morning, we found the table with a fork or a knive or a spoon missing. That being said, it is the only not-so-good thing that I can say about this hotel. The hotel provides a safe room to put your suitcase in and to take a shower on the day of departure. The room is secured by a key so you can leave luggage there and go to the beach without being stressed out about your belongings. This was very nice. I thus could enjoy my last day on Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas. I liked the Jacuzzi which is near the swimming pool. Water temperature is also nice on the swimming pool. The hotel is near Playa del Ingles/the dunes of Maspalomas. You can reach it withing 5 to 10-minute walk and you can enjoy the amazing view. Just ask for the way to the beach. The hotel also provides a bus service to Playa del Ingles. I used it the first day but then chose to go to the beach on foot because you can walk alongside the dunes, which you can't see with the bus. Yet, the bus is very useful, especially if temperatures are quite high. The bus drives you to Playa del Ingles only. Which means that, should you want to walk in the dunes, you must walk towards them. It takes 10 minutes at least to reach the first dunes. The hotel calls taxis to drive you to Maspalomas lighhouse and beach. It costs around 5-6 euros. I spent wonderful holidays at IFA Catarina and would like to thank staff members for their help and professionnalism. If I come back to Playa del Ingles, I would come back to this hotel.More

Great memories

Came here for a week with my partner the room was fantastic! The beds were comfy, aircon worked well, breathtaking view of sandunes from balcony! The only thing that could of made it better for us was a few more sunbeds by pool, we didnt manage to get any our whole stay there! More

Alex D,

A great hotel, located within 5 minutes of the spectacular Sand Dunes

A great hotel, with Spanish speaking staff, many of whom were multi-lingual. Food was very tasty and included a varied menu catering for the fussy nature of my entire family. The hotel room was clean and tidy, the reception area provided free Wi-Fi access which pleased my teenage children. I paid for the all inclusive deal and was not disappointed. I would visit this hotel again, and would definitely recommend it to others.More
