Stayed for a short 4 day break and first time all inclusive and first time in Gran Canaria. Hotel is lovely, a little dated but very clean and we had a nice sized room on the 5th floor. This was great as it was away from any noise and the sun shone on the balcony all afternoon with beautiful views of the dunes and surrounding areas giving us gorgeous sunsets. The beds were extremely firm but we did get a good nights sleep. The pool area does get a little busy even in November and the music a little loud but you don't have to sun bathe by the pool as there are some lovely terraces and gardens further away for sun bathing in peace and quiet. You can rent beach towels at reception for about 2 euros a day and you need to also rent the safe, again ask at reception. Being first time all inclusive we didn't have great expectations but the food was great, plenty of selections i.e. salads, fish, mains and sweets/fruit. We really liked lunchtime as it was lovely and quiet in the restaurant. Staff were attentive and friendly. Loved the position of the hotel as it was a 5 minute walk to the dunes or you could get a regular shuttle from the hotel to the beach. Jumbo shopping centre is about 15 minutes walk and is huge with loads of bars, restaurants and shops. I don't know if we will visit Playa Del Ingles again but if we did, we wouldn't mind this hotel at all and it was 25 degrees the whole time we were there which was lovely. We will visit Gran Canaria again but maybe a different resort.More

Was super impressed about the staff, i had forgotten my purse in the dining room and they brought back to me intact. Very honest people working there. Room was very clean. The hotel itself is a bit outdated but clean. My only disappointment is that i had asked for a room with a double bed at the time of booking and none were available when i got there. But 2 days after they had one free and reserved it for us. Very good service.More

i´d like thanks for choosing room
I´d like thanks receptionist Javier. When I check in I spoke with some tourist who was also from my country. Javier saw that I spoke with with and give me room just next each other. Then we could talk each other. I find new friend from my home time. I would like thank Javier for that profesional job with check in. Room was nice and staff very friendly.More

Great location, food, pool.
Located a short walk from the dunes of Maspalomas The half board rate was excellent and the facility comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive. Some minor upkeep is required in the hallways, but overall an excellent facility. Wifi very slow but ok in off hours.More

Great last minute week - "fantastic weather "
Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Ifa Catarina, on first impressions the hotel looks very dated from the outside, once inside, it's better. We were in a big queue for checking in, which took a while and only just made it for a drink before the all inclusive stops at 11.00pm, the hotel had prepared some food for the late arrivals which we were grateful for. The long walk to the room with the cases, up stairs then down stairs before you came to the lift was a little daunting, but in the morning we found a quicker route for the rest of the week, down the lift and walking through the gardens, much nicer view. I would say that our findings were, that there is a predominantly German clientele. Food - Breakfast, had plenty to choose from, bacon, sausages (which were nicer than they looked) boiled eggs, soft boiled and hard boiled, beans etc, cheeses, hams , breads, fruits, yoghurts, pastries, etc Please be warned that after breakfast the all inc does not start until 11.00am again for any drinks after breakfast either for water, teas, coffees etc, so once sat round the pool if you don't remember to bring water down with you, you'll have to wait, the bar is not open to even buy a drink ! I've never been to an all inc that does this, I found it very odd and annoying... Sunbeds around the pool were never a problem, but I would imagine in the half term week, the week before we went , it would be a different story. Lunch - good variety of salads, a soup , probably around 4 mains to choose from, along with pasta, sauces, breads, cheeses, fruits etc Evening meal - Same as lunch time, but with different choices of about 4 -5 main dishes, a couple of soups and all of the above, some dishes were gorgeous . The staff in the retaurant were very quick to serve you drinks, at both lunch and evening,it's self service at breakfast for drinks. Rooms - the rooms were large with a good sized balcony , we had a garden view, and the sun ends the day on the balcony which was brill, the maids do a great job, we had beds made everyday with clean towels, the beds on the other hand are not very comfortable there are a little hard, all rooms are twin rooms, you can push the beds together though, the TVs have a movie channel, channel 21/22, news channels etc, the rest are mainly German channels, in the bathroom there is a very old dryer not great for drying hair quick, but I had taken my own, there are soap /shower gels on the wall in the shower and at the sink which was handy, there seems to be only one plug socket to use that's in the bathroom, unless you pull out the tv or lamps, but we managed, there is no wifi in the room, only at the reception bar, and to be honest was a little hit n miss.. Entertainment - a couple of the professional shows were good, the folk guys, it was modern up to date music, they were really good. Abba n queen night was pretty good also, but some of the others were a bit poor - sorry !! also everything was repeated in about 4 languages, so took a while to get through the bingo !! Bar shuts down bang on time with the hotel computer clock not your watch, so be aware to order in time.. Whilst watching the entertainment there is waiter service which is great.. We were told there is a naked terrace in room 501/502, which you need a key card to enter, hey ho each to their own, we did not check this out..by the way this room is far away and out of site.. Location - 5 mins walk to the sand dunes, by walking to the Rui hotel to the right when you leave hotel, and walk along side of that, they are amazing to see, once walking on the dunes it takes another 15-20mins to reach the sea, to the right its a nudest beach and to the left is bikinis etc.. You can hire 2 x sunbeds with a umbrella for â¬7.50, which is not bad at all, nice breeze on the beech, there is a bar, with a toilet you can use for fifty cent, this bar does not sell food though, only snacks ie crisps etc The hotel is in a good location with the yumbo centre not far, we didn't venture out much as just went for the relax. Overall we had a great holiday, the weather was fantastic, will maybe try gran canaria again.More
