Shame to come home
Just returned yesterday from a weeks stay at this hotel. This was our first time staying here. We requested a room on a high floor and they put us on the fourth floor overlooking the gardens. It was really nice to sit on the balcony with no one looking in. Check in was good as was check out. The cleaners and all other staff work really hard and this can be seen throughout the hotel. Yes it does need a little bit of updating but that's happening soon. We found the meals pretty good, we never went hungry though only half board. It's in a good location, only five minutes to the dunes which are a must to walk over..Our only bug was the lifts were often out of order and after walking over the dunes you don't want to be doing four flights of stairs... Can't comment on daytime or evening entertainment as we were out and about most days. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend this hotel More
Too expensive and didn't provide any such great service
When we got to the hotel we had mistaken the price they told us over the phone, this was our fault, because I would have never paid 500 Euro for a 2 night stay at a hotel room, but it was my bf's birthday and I didn't want to ruin the mood, so we stayed. The first thing we realized was that the elevator was in terrible conditions, it shook every time and the floors felt loose, not a nice experience, so we decided to start taking the stairs. 500 Euro in a hotel room to be scared of the elevators (and we're not the kind of people who complain, we were there for the breakfast which was very good reviewed). The carpets were rather old and stained and the room was nothing to be amazed at, the air conditioning settings were weird, either very cold or very hot, not so clear to adjust. The next thing we realized was that every service that is regularly for free at any hotel was here under payment such as internet (2Euro for 2 phones per day), the towles to go to the pool, and you couldn't go out with an apple after breakfast, you had to pay 1Euro for each fruit... I mean if I pay for breakfast why can't I finish eating my apple outside? The pool was really nice, they had a bar with friendly staff but apparently the hotel was crowded because there was nowhere to sit, and if you actually found a chair you were really close to the rest of the people. They were really nice to take us a small bottle of wine because of my boyfriend's birthday which we really enjoyed, but overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The breakfast wasn't too good either after all, we like eating cereals with some nuts, which we always find in any hotel, and here we only found kids cereals. The coffee was good, but the juice was a mixture of fruits instead of the regular orange juice. Maybe it was because of the season.More

We visited IFA Catarina in September 2015. Absolutely perfect hotel, very friendly staff, wide selection of fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood. Amazing garden full of flowering shrubs, palms and quiet spaces. The rooms were cleaned every day, daily towel. Excellent cocktails and wine at the pool bar. The only slight downside is the cramped space at the pool on the sun loungers. Nevertheless, this hotel has become a matter of our heart and this year we go again! We look forward to again in the October 2017 meeting you and hope that everything will be perfect again.More
