First class hotel

Just spent a week all inclusive at the Hotel Catarina. It's an excellent hotel with friendly staff. The food was plentiful and varied. Could not fault any aspect of the hotel. Free sun beds and mattresses. Rooms cleaned every day with optional towel change.More

A cut above the Rest

Our first impressions of the hotel were how clean and tidy it was, reception extremely accommodating and our room was clean, tidy and modern and the bathroom probably the best for a hotel in this price range, our rooms were cleaned and tidied daily. The swimming pool is very large with a jacuzzi attached at one end. The pool does not have a deep end and is basically chest to waist height throughout and heated by solar panels. The arrangement around the pool mostly sunbeds, a stage for outdoor entertainment and numerous tables and chairs to enjoy a coffee, beer etc. Up a short flight of steps will take you into some very pleasant garden areas, where you can relax under the natural shade of palm trees, sunbeds and a few park type benches with a lot of grassed area. Up here you will find the facilities for archery, tennis, French boules etc. and well away from the hustle and bustle of the pool. Entertainment was of a higher standard than I expected, I didn't really feel the need to go out looking for evening entertainment. I felt that some of the shows would only be bettered in a much classier hotel or on a cruise. The animation team were very pleasant and worked very hard. The restaurant buffet but the waiters and waitresses are quickly on hand to serve any drinks you may require and quickly tidy away empty plates and dishes. i would class the food as generally good and their expertise seemed to be in the meat dishes, the stews were particularly tasty and try the goulash soup. Overall I found this hotel extremely good value for money and well worth returning to. See other reviews for location and access to beach.More

Recently stayed at the hotel on all inclusive basis and in my experience this does not live up to my 4 star expectations. On arrival ouside, reception areas and lobby bar are very good and give a good initial impresstion. Althougth when requested I was informed no porterage for my luggage was available. Rooms and bathrooms are of agood size altougth balcony is small. No tea or coffe making facilities avaible if requested this would EXTRA. Fridge in room no water could br provided at EXTRA cost Room cleanliness is good and minor repairs requested were carried quickly and sucessfully. However the towels were of the lowest quality I have ever seen small and paper thin, lack of shampoo etc in bathroom. When I requsted safety deposit key that was EXTRA. Requested pool towels they were poor quality and EXTRA Change pool towels EXTRA ever change THe pool area is very small for size of hotel with centimetres between beds, the beds in the pool area have to be removed every evening to allow tables and chairs to be set out for evening entertainment and then vice versa every morning. Pool area requires some TLC with broken and craked tiles. Food is plentiful and a good number of choices but I would say not 4 star quality, and I never understood why dinner plates were not avaiable for breakfast only side plates, was this to try to reduce the amount of food eaten? Very annoying. Service and entertainment staff on the whole were very good. Pool bar area small and cramped, feel it would be a problem in high season. All in all an okay holiday but would not return, this is my first all inc holiday in Europe hope this is not normal 4 star standardMore
