Good value for money

Recently got back from gran canaria . The hotel was very clean , the beds they were very hard. The food was very good a good choice for every one . Most of the staff were friendly and helpful , during our holiday a new life guard started and told us we could not play with a small soft ball previously purchased from the hotel shop . Plenty of other guests had used the same size ball and other life guards had joined in throwing the balls. When I complained the manager spoke to the life guard and later that afternoon when I returned to the pool other guests were playing with balls . I tried to speak to the life guard to ask him if it was ok to play with my ball he completely ignored me how rude . Other than this very small problem we really enjoyed our stay , More

Watered Down Whiskey.....

Food, for all inclusive, was excellent. Decent choice each day both at lunch time and in the evening. Room and restaurant very clean. Staff friendly, attentive and efficient. However the whiskey was a huge let down. The all inclusive blended whiskey option was lets just say "interesting" ...... Gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided on a Chivas Regal on the Tuesday evening in the main bar. This was paid for as not part of the All Inclusive package. I was given some 3 or 4 rocks of ice and a decent measure of Spey-water. Not so much as the option of taking the dram neat. The ice was a near mandatory experience however what was in the glass was a poor representation of what I had anticipated. The ice forced on me had barely settled in the glass so no way had any of it melted in say 2 seconds, which leads me to conclude that someone is "at it", extending the shelf life of a bottle and increasing the bottom line profitability. I am from NE Scotland and have been enjoying a wee dram or perhaps two for almost 40 years so no way am I mistaken ... end of. Other than this disaster, I could not fault the IFA Catarina but I do feel others should be made aware of this nonsense.More

We stayed here back in August for a week. The hotel is generally clean, but was showing it's age a little; e.g. grates over swimming pool drains broken, canopies over windows torn etc. Food was average, not a great choice but enough to keep us going through the week. We ate out two or three times to break up the monotony. All inclusive drinks were good except the cocktails which were awful. Staff were variable. Mostly good but let down by a few. There was a chap who worked on reception who seemed indifferent to us. Also the male barman with the curly hair had a horrible habit of pointing at us when taking drinks orders. It didn't matter whether there was one person in the queue or 15, he acted as if he was the most stressed employee in Spain. Pools were good. Plenty of sunbeds and if up early enough you could get one by the pool. Part of the pool terrace had been given over to the restaurant to make an outdoor seating area. Queues formed early on for these tables so those using them could chain smoke while eating. As doors were generally left opened to the restaurant, this meant cigarette smoke blew in to the dining room, The bar area by reception was lovely, always quiet, cool and perfect for a quick refreshing drink when returning from a day out or shopping in PDI. Staff there were superb, really friendly and helpful. Our main problem with the hotel was the air-conditioning in our room. We always specifically book hotels with air-conditioning; it's our number one requirement when booking a summer holiday. Our first night was very uncomfortable as the air-con in the room barely worked at all. We mentioned this to the hotel and they sent someone to our room to attempted to get it working. For the rest of the week, it just about did it's job (if we kept the bathroom door shut and kept the patio door windows pulled to stop sunlight coming in. Overall it's an OK hotel, nothing to stop us returning but no great draw either.More

Great hotel based on what I paid

Where to start.... My review is mainly based on the fact of what I paid for this Holiday. It was a late deal and cost me £1050 for a week all inclusive. If your paying around that price then its well worth it, I wouldn't like to be paying more as you could get a lot better. Hotel, Excellent clean and friendly, Free Wi-fi in the reception area and inside Maddison's bar. Beach, Free bus from hotel and back throughout the day up to 15:45pm Entertainment team, Excellent never stop working from 11am to 11pm always on the go with plenty of activities for all ages Food, Its as you would expect international buffet but does get a bit repetitive. Here comes my only faults and see attached pic for the evidence I now write, All inclusive You are giving a small card when you arrive which gives information for what you can have at what times, one problem the card is not right and reception doesn't seem to have an answer for it, but I will explain to make it clear, First fault, Venezia Cafe, States you can get ice cream and pastry of the day from 15:30 to 17:30, but then says you can get Ice cream in bulk from 12:00 to 17:00hrs, You can not as it doesn't open until 15:30 so there is the first misled information Fata Morgana Buffet Restaurant, States you can drink House brands, wines and beers, this is not true you can only drink water or soft drinks with your meal in the all inclusive package Smoking - Not permitted on the hotel balcony, if caught you get a 95euro fine not sure if they actually carry out this threat but they do give you a warning letter telling you the fine if caught Rooms, This only applies to people who may want to sleep before 12 midnight, all the rooms/balcony's are all set on the back of the hotel, if you are looking at the hotel from the pool you have the main block then you have blocks on the left and and right which overlook the gardens, Now I'm sure I know whey they charge more for garden views, because they are most quiet areas. we were on floor 3 of the pool block (Centre) and in the middle and let me tell you if its noisy still at midnight, not music as this stops at 11pm it was from large groups who were still paying as remember All inclusive ends at 11pm but then you can pay for drinks and not everyone is all inclusive mainly foreign guests, so we have quite a large group of Russians approx 18 of them so when they are still up and drinking it can be loud, not saying everyone is going to stay up I'm just beware of the block in the middle. Massive improvement in my opinion would have to be when going for Evening Meal to actually be seated by a waiter not just allowed to walk in and then have to hunt for a table not sure if your actually taken someone else's so I think this should be implemented. First all inclusive I've been to where they don't do this. At times especially when busy we looked like lost sheep All in all good hotel for money paid and would revisit if a deal was on in future.More
