IFA Caterina

We were very happy with our choice of this hotel. Staff were very professional and helpful. In particulat, we were impressed with the rep, Hana, who booked our trips for us and checked after that we enjoyed them. A lovely, friendly and hard working girl!! Our room was spacious and air conditioned, which was wonderful, given the 30%F heat outside. The only very slight downfall was the food. This was our 4th all inclusive holiday and this was the worst food of all of them. It wasn't awful and we always managed to get something so I wouldn't let this stop me recommending the Caterina. Family holiday

We have just got back from this holiday a group of six adults and four children, ages seven, two, eighteen months and a eight week old baby. On arriving at this hotel at three in the morning to find that we had two rooms on one floor and one on the next didn't go down too well, no cots for the two small children only sofa beds made up in two off the rooms, the baby had to sleep in his pushchair. Some of the staff were really rude, especially at the bar by the pool and one of the entertainment members (Gunther ).The staff did not want to tell you which cocktails were free on the all inclusive option,we had to ask at reception for details because they wanted to charge for them. The food was the same nearly every night either pork, chicken or fish and not a lot of vegetables. I have never been to an all inclusive hotel where you have to have your door card swiped as you go into dinner and breakfast, what is the point of having wrist bands. On the plus side the hotel was kept clean and the weather was good. This is definitely not a 4 star hotelMore

NOT 4*

good points are the staff and animation team who gave 110% bad points are--got 6 cracked or chiped cups in 7 days in resturant complained after a week these were replaced by new mugs never have i been in a 4* where i cannot have omelettes and pasta made to order selection was ok in resturant always got something e-mailed for mattress-toppers as i read beds were hard these were on bed they were about 1/2" thick so waste of time putting them on room very clean staff very nice cannot understand why if all-inclusive and wearing a wrist band u still had to show room swipe card strange this hotel should not be 4*More

All Inclusive week from 25th July to 1st August 2016

We Found the Staff were really good and helpful. Would like to note the reception staff ,Who were really good. There was a young girl in the Madison bar ( think her name was Iris) whose service was 1st class. The place was very clean and tidy we could see how fussy the staff were. OUR only real gripe was the room. We were Gran and Granddad with two 10 year old girls. We had twin beds and a sofa bed. Obviously the sofa beds were for the kids. However am sure anyone with kids will appreciate the problem with this sleeping arrangement. " get over your on my side, move your legs" and so on. Will never book this kind of sleeping arrangement again. The Shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold and if you were lucky you could pick the right time for a reasonable temperature but be prepared to draw back up the bath before the next cycle in temperature. Food was not special but you needn't go hungry. Hotel grounds were immaculate. Our reason for the 3 stars is mainly concerning the room shower and the Sofa beds are damned hard on 60 year old backs. Took up lounger pads to place under the Sofa bed mattress - just wish I had thought about it earlier in the week.More

GOOD, but.......

Just back after a week at Catarina. Hotel is immaculate. Reception, bar, rooms, restaurant, pool area all spotless. Reception staff very friendly and helpful, Madison bar staff equally so, however pool bar and restaurant staff can at times be a little frustrating as their grasp of the English language isn't great. We were on the 5th floor and the views over the sand dunes, mountains and other hotels in the distance were amazing. Food was good but not brilliant, good choice for breakfast but evening meal choices were limited. Tea and coffee were horrendous. The location of the hotel isn't bad by day, two shopping centres (Cita and Yumbo) close by and the beach shops bars and restaurants roughly a 15 minute stroll away. By night the immediate area is DEFINITELY NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Just beside the hotel the Cita becomes a "swingers" paradise while the Yumbo is all gay bars and clubs. If walking after dark don't be surprised by what you may see. Down by the beach at night is the complete opposite, all 100% family friendly with good bars, restaurants and entertainment from singers to street acrobatics. One last thing, from what we could see the vast majority of guests at the hotel were German. If you want to mingle with other guests, or even just have a conversation forget about it. They seem to have being rude and arrogant down to a fine art.More
