Hotel San Miguel

This hillside hotel comes with a bay view and a beach on tap.

A handy lift connects to the beach, where there are pedalos and kayaks. And the pine forests and coastal paths are always at your disposal. Shops, bars and restaurants are a 5-minute walk away.

This place has an enviable setting – it looks down on San Miguel Bay, so sea views and seriously good sunsets are par for the course.

Perfect September break

Just back from a week All inclusive at Club San Miguel. Stayed with my in laws, wife 1 year old son and 3 year old daughter. Exceeded my expectations as got a relatively cheap package deal with Thompson. Plus points are the beach which made the holiday for me and the kids. The tapas and Chinese restaurants which are both nice touches. The fact you could eat and drink in the two hotels split the days. All the staff - as everywhere spotless and all really pleasant. The entertainment team which work hard and we're really fun especially for my kids. Food was as expected and I enjoyed it. Drinks were good. Basically lots of positives. Only real negative for me which was more an annoyance than anything was the steps everywhere and the hit and miss lifts. Difficult when you have a pram and near impossible if you have a double buggy like us - which wouldn't even fit in the lift hence carrying my son everywhere, but we knew this was an issue by reading other reviews so was aware. Sports bar 2 min walk away handy for football. Few shops and restaurants all within 2 min walk. Caves nearby to visit - again not great for children given the steps and obviously the beach and pools. All In all a good break and would definitely recommend More

not for people with walking difficulties

I cannot fault this hotel complex, The food was very good, local drinks were a bit iffy but hey if you are A1 Beer was fine!! Our room was spotless, towels changed everyday, sheets 3 times in a week. Never yet been to a Hotel that had free good quality ice creams, and fresh popcorn free all day and night! Kids entertainment was usual 30yr tried and tested music and dancing, Adult entertainment was really quite good, One very good show was Dreamdance Michael Jackson tribute, ZORRO the team leader for animation team is wasted at Hotel entertainment! his quick wit and repartee was brilliant! he came near the knuckie a few times but not really offensive. Staff were excellent especially in the dining room where it was just all smiles from them all. The reception staff were very good too,The beach is 50 yards away, and a couple of bars and restaurants in same area. But "theres always a but isn't there" The only problem we had was not hotels fault, it was that the hotel is to far away from anything else if you are disabled or have walking problems, you had to catch a bus wich was typical Spanish somedays ok next day one way only ,next day no service!!! This Hotel complex of three hotels all of which you could use would be uprated if they ran a bus service even if they charged, would be almost perfect. I cannot say the same about the Thompson reps" why do they pay these people" any questions asked of them got the same answer"ask at reception"More

San Miguel hotel

Stayed at the hotel for a week, thoroughly enjoyed the whole week. Rooms very clean and has everything you need. Food very good and plenty of choice. Very close to the beach, shops and bars. Entertainment good for the kids and adults with a variety of things to do during the day and shows on a night. Staff very friendly and would try to accommodate you. Liked the higher hotel better than other but both seemed good. Overall a great relaxing holiday.More

Would recommend to everyone.

Booked the holiday 2 months ago through Thomsons after reading a few reviews. We booked for a week and arrived in the middle of the night after a 25 minute transfer from the airport. The room was basic but extremely clean with air conditioning which was quite noisy but nothing to keep you awake for long. It has a decent sized pool with jacuzzi and a bar area not too far away. The food at club San Miguel was very basic but edible, with the option to eat all your meals in the sister hotel which is attached to this one. The food there was lovely with specialised nights for things e.g Mexican, seafood. All you have to do is ask at reception which we did for the majority of our stay, there is also the option to book in at the Chinese restaurant as often as you like (this was also very nice!) As for the entertainment staff..... these people work there socks off during the day, entertaining the guests, there was always something to take part in. Zorro is the main entertainment guy and sometimes you have to take what he says tongue in cheek. I don't think he would of been there for 13 years if he wasn't good. Some excellent evening shows. The beach is 2 minute walk away, it is sandy and there is a beautiful swimming/snorkelling area. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with two teenage girls 13/17. Would of liked different flight options but this has no reflection on the hotel Would recommend to anyone.More

Thomson & Club San Miguel

Booked through Thomson - very unlikely to use again. Very few flight options available at time of booking and ended up on red-eye flight with plane full of 'young'uns' necking bottles of straight spirits. Flight crew did their best, but struggled - culminated in pilot jamming on brakes whilst taxiing to catch out those ignoring repeated requests to sit down. If I was 18, it would have been great fun - but with a young family the flight was less than ideal. Had also booked a private transfer (given we were arriving at 3.00am) - which was there on time, clean and efficient. Had been told that the price (£70?) was a good deal - we later used a taxi with the equivalent trip running to only £40. That said, was worth it to be able to go straight to the hotel. The hotel itself was..... OK. Fairly basic hotel that is starting to feel a little tired. Not sure what we were expecting, but having been to Luabay in Tenerife earlier in the year (also through Thomson) and been really impressed, I have to admit we were disappointed. The staff on the whole were good, but had to deal with a small number of guests who proved to be obnoxious and rude. Not sure what time you have to get up to claim a space by the pool, but can say that I was up at 6.45am one morning and they were gone by then. As a result we spent alot of time at the beach (very close) or getting around the island in a hire car, which was great - North-East corner of the island in particular is fantastic. Unfortunately it got to the point that we had had enough. We had already planned to spend a second week with friends, so left two days early. Staff showed genuine concern and offered to do what they could, but we had got to the point that we had had enough. For the return trip home my family was travelling without me. Given the trip that we had out to Ibiza, my wife wasn't prepared to travel on the 3.00am flight we had been booked on. We were unable to get a refund or transfer on the flights booked as we had already travelled on part of the itinerary (as it was explained to me), so we forfeited those flights and spent a further £300 to put my family on the Thomas Cook flight that left at 10.30am. All in all - pretty disappointed. Ibiza is fantastic, but if we were to return, it would be done very differently.More
