Hotel San Miguel

This hillside hotel comes with a bay view and a beach on tap.

A handy lift connects to the beach, where there are pedalos and kayaks. And the pine forests and coastal paths are always at your disposal. Shops, bars and restaurants are a 5-minute walk away.

This place has an enviable setting – it looks down on San Miguel Bay, so sea views and seriously good sunsets are par for the course.

Good value for money

Only boooked this as a last minute getaway. Went with a friend and we were both impressed. Rooms were adequate. Ours had a double and single bed. We were at back of the hotel (108) so was very quiet. Food at all meals was good, only complaint would be more vegetarian options please. Only cost 2.80 euro for coach into Ibiza town and well worth the 30 minute journey.More

Great basic all-inclusive hotel with excellent staff

Breakfast sausage rating: 2/10. A continental affair. Fried in oil and presented cut in half. Texture of split pate. Seasoned without traces of visible herbs. The associated thick cut bacon was excellent. Bonus given for condiments that included HP, tomato, American mustard, Marie rose, Tabasco, barbeque sauce. No English mustard. Threat of continued English breakfast made woman go vegetarian for week. Next time will we will have two bathrooms. One of our favourite holidays...

We arrived here last Saturday for a one week stay with our 20 month old daughter. First impressions were good for a 3* and as we were early to get in to our room, the lovely receptionist Lori said we could benefit from the All Inclusive straight away. We requested a quiet room after reading reviews so she kindly arranged this for us and we stayed in room 230 at the top and back of the hotel. This was great for us but there was no lift so bare that in mind. It didn't bother us at all though. The room was fine, had a double and single bed in as well as a cot for our daughter. The room was clean and had a great size balcony overlooking the greenery at the back of the hotel. It also had a TV with some UK channels and most importantly it had Cbeebies which was a life saver at times! The location is great as it is a 2 mins walk to the beautiful beach. The sea is so clear and full of very tame fish, great for snorkeling. There were a few jellyfish and we heard one man got stung but was OK, everyone was on the look out so it felt very safe. We had no worries going in the water at all. You could rent sun beds and parasols...think they were 5€ each and 5€ for a parasol for the day. We took our own beach towels though and bought a parasol for 9€ from one of the local shops which lasted is the week. If you're lucky, someone may have left one in the 'Swap Box' in the hotel which always had a wealth of beach equipment left by people who were leaving. We did the boat trip which was 10€ each with under 5's free and booked this at the hotel. Was well worth it for an hour and saw some beautiful scenery. As we were only there for a week, we didn't do any trips, Thomsons offer some but there is an Ibiza excursion shop across the road from the hotel where the souvenir/supermarkets are...might be cheaper. There is also a doctors in the row of shops which I thought was handy. Also, we bought all our souvenirs at the shop closest to the doctors, glad we did as the Airport charged 25%-50% more than what we paid. The food was standard for an All Inclusive. Nothing to rave about but something for everyone. All cooked well and when there was Spanish items on offer they were very good. We mainly ate in the restaurant but you could eat in the Hotel Cartago next door which is part of the same group. Their restaurant had to booked 24 hours in advance and had amazing views of the beach. There is also a Chinese restaurant at the Cartago which you have to book but the food is very good...we went twice. I was impressed with the amount of highchairs on offer and we never had to wait for one. They were also cleaned after every use thoroughly. The drinks were fine...local spirits which are poured in large measures and the on tap beer is Amstal which my husband was happy about. There was also Cava, Sangria, chocolate milk and UHT milk. We gave the milk to our daughter at bed time and she took it no problem. The Western Saloon had the best selection of drinks and a proper coffee machine. From 12-6 they had snacks in the Saloon which consisted of burgers, chips, chicken nuggets etc. Ice creams were on offer all day as well. In the Cartago they have a small tapas bar so we tried that one night and it was OK, tasty little snacks to have before our main meal. The pool area was great, loads of sunbeds. You could rent beach towels and a pad for the bed. Parasols were free. We spent most of our time at the beach as our daughter runs everywhere and kept giving us heart attacks! At the beach she could run around with out us worrying that she'd fall in the pool! Everyone seemed to get up early to reserve their bed but we never had a problem getting one at any time of day. There is always a lifeguard there too. The entertainment was good, really good for kids and the entertainers are lovely. We still have some of the songs stuck in our heads! The entertainment for the adults was good too, you could join in as much or as little as you wanted. All was family orientated, no bad language or adult humour so this was fab as the kids stayed up with all their families. Entertainment finished about 11pm as did the All Inclusive drinks. We only heard the entertainment go past 11 once. There are other bars and restaurants outside of the hotel which always looked full. We walked around some evenings and can recommend walking right to the top of the Hotel Cartago via the main road as the views are fantastic, especially around sunset. We loved it here and are already panning to come back next year with my parents. Thank you! More

Another Great Stay At San Miguel!

This was our fourth stay in San Miguel(twice at the Beach Club & twice at Hotel San Miguel/Cartago) We travelled as a family of 4,11 year old & 7 year old. San Miguel is a beautiful picturesque cove, the hotels are situated directly on the cove which is ideal for beach lovers, the beach has pedaloes & kayaks available to hire as well as speed boats and banana boats. There is also a water taxi which travels to many other resorts & a glass bottom boat. There is also some friendly fish who will take bread etc from your hand. The hotel has lots of entertainment with the anamacion team hosting various games and sporting activities throughout the day such as football, aqua aerobics, archery, giant jenga, giant connect four & French boules. The Thomson kids club has a very good timetable too as our seven year old can vouch for! The evening entertainment is the best we have encountered on any of our holidays,Zorro and the team are an asset to San Miguel, they had everyone(well almost) in stitches every night. We found the food to be of a high standard and there was lots of variety too. Our room was spacious and kept spotlessly clean,as was the pool and grounds which our 11 year old spent most of his time. The staff here are friendly and never forget a face,we were recognised after our last stay 3 years ago! San Miguel is a very small resort with only a handful of grocery/souvenir shops a few restaurants & bars,Zorro the entertainer owns the bar Tornados where most people go after the entertainment stops at 11pm. This is a family orientated resort, there are A LOT of children here. We would defiantly recommend this place for a relaxed, safe family break. We look forward to a fifth visit!More

Generally good

If your after a cheap and cheerful all inclusive holiday this is the place to be! Food was good (even better if you use the hotel San miguel resteraunt which is included but we didn't find out until the last 2 days) great location with a nice private beach, entertainment was a bit cheesy for our liking but our little girl loved it. Room was pretty dated and could have done with a face-lift. We had to ask for a dehumidifier as it was very damp with patches all on the walls, the hotel was full and they reckoned they couldn't find a different room to put us in. This is why I've knocked it down a star. Other than that we had a pretty decent experience. More
