Just as good the second time!
My wife and I stayed at El Dorado Royale Casitas four years ago and decided to return for a second visit. We have stayed at three very good Mexican all-inclusives since our first visit to El Dorado Royale and this is the first property we have made a return visit to. The food was once again outstanding. Our favorite restaurants were Kampai and the pizza restaurant next to the main pool. The restaurant service was very good. Our favorite waiters were Mariano at La Isla for breakfast in the mornings and Pedro at D'Italia between the 3100 and 3200 block of rooms. We tried the Jade restaurant at the new Karisma Generations property right next door and we really liked that restaurant too. We stayed in the 3100 block of rooms during our first visit and requested to be there again which the hotel accommodated. We had a swim-up room with our own small private pool. We had the choice of lounging at our own private pool, visiting with our new neighbor friends at the nearby 3100 block "community pool", or we were just a few steps away from the beach. The Casitas rooms are bigger than most other rooms at the other resorts we have stayed at in the same price range. The rooms were kept clean and we love the outdoor shower! A special thanks to our two very friendly and helpful concierge Ruth and Carlos! I am trying to learn Spanish and even though they speak perfect English, they were very helpful and patiently tolerated my attempts to speak Spanish "todos los dias"! The things we liked best about this property is the staff was always very friendly and accommodating. The property is very spacious as it is about 1 mile from one end of the property to another. We loved getting our four mile walk in at 6:30 in the morning watching the sun come up on the Gulf of Mexico. The things we liked the least is my wife is allergic to cigarette and cigar smoke and even though we are outdoors 90% of the time and the restaurants do not allow smoking, we had to move from time-to-time when we were on the beach, at the pool, or watching the entertainment due to people nearby who were smoking. Our suggestion for management is to experiment with designating a "no-smoking" block of rooms even when outdoors or perhaps designating a "no smoking" week for guests. The other suggestion we have for management is to consider updating their gyms. I don't think either gym we used has been updated since we visited four years ago. I actually went to the Generations property gym since it was closer to our room than the El Dorado Royale gyms. Overall it was another great vacation at El Dorado Royale Casitas! We have been taking all-inclusive vacations in either Mexico or Jamaica for over twenty years. We love the beaches in Jamaica and the service in Mexico and this year the service at El Dorado Royale did not disappoint!More
Wife's 30th Birthday
Excellent resort. We felt like royalty for our entire stay. The meals were amazing whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner and regardless of which restaurant we attended. The Casita was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our private, walk-out pool. Highly recommend!More
I would like to thank the staff of El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas for all their service and effort to make our business meeting and vacation an amazing experience. The rooms are impeccable and the restaurants are all some of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I would highly recommend the breakfast at Cocotal, lunch at JoJos in the beach and dinner at Santa Fe Grill. You can't miss the dinner show at Fuentes where they have renowned chefs every week and a great wine pairing put together by Peit the Hotel's Sommelier. Be sure to say hello to Pablo at noon at Ceviche Bar 32 and if you are planning a meeting you should definitely contact Lucia Lizama. I am looking forward to coming back here soon.More
The nicest, most romantic getaway
Karisma does everything right. The food is exquisite with white cloths and napkins. Over 9 five star restaurants to choose from. Prices are competitive depending on room size and amenities. We stay in the Casitas which is mid level. Great staff and lots of activities or just get lost in watching the Carribean roll in. More
Anniversary Trip- Stressful check in and check out process
We stayed in a Infinity Pool Casita Suite. The room and view were beautiful. Everything about our trip was great, except for the check in, a lingering room key issue and check out process. We arrived prior to check in time, 3 and were told to go have lunch and come back and our room would be ready. We returned a little before 3 and we were told it would be a few more minutes. At 3 we were told that our room would not be ready until 3:30. During this time, we watched at least 3 other couples get their room keys. Finally after my husband reminded them that we were still waiting on our room they gave us a different room. On the way to our room we stopped by the concierge office to make dinner reservations. (The worst part about not getting a room assignment is that you cannot make dinner reservations for any of the restaurants which fill up very quickly). Once we got to our room, our key would not work, so we walked back to the concierge office. They told us they would send security to let us into our room and a new key (that key never arrived). We ended up going back to get a new key and it didn't work either. They then had to send maintenance up to fix the door. We had dinner reservations so the maintenance worker sent us to dinner. When we returned from dinner our key didn't work again and we had to have security come let us into our room. The checking out process for us was not any better. We called for the bell hop 45 minutes prior to our shuttle leaving and 25 minutes later no one came. We ended up having to carry our luggage down 2 very steep sets of stairs and take them to the concierge office to wait for someone to pick us up. The hotel is beautiful the staff at the bars and restaurants were amazing but what was supposed to be a relaxing 10th anniversary trip was very stressful checking in and out.More
