Most relaxing vacation ever!
I can't say enough about this resort! We were able to enjoy our time as a couple - meet wonderful people (both staff & other guests) relax when we wanted to - but also participate in activities offered by the resort so we were never bored. The room was great - the food was better than great! I was a little concerned that the only way we would get our money's worth at an all inclusive resort was if we drank a lot! This was not the case. The quality of the food ( which is why we chose this resort), the location and the service was worth what we paid. I was really impressed by all of the programs the resort has that gives back - they grow much of their own food, are working on growing a reef, they rescue animals (and give them a nice ranch to live on), and have a sea turtle program. The only downside was the beach - it was just ok. We will be back! More
Family & Friends Trip
A group of 8 of us traveled from 5/6 thru 5/13. 3 couples and 2 friends. I have to start by saying that El Dorado is an absolutely beautiful resort. It could potentially have received a 5 star rating, however, they need to start by fixing a few of the small things. Lets start with the CONS: Restaurant wait times did not meet our normal expectations. As a frequent all-inclusive traveler to Mexico, I am used to having little to no wait time in getting seated. For breakfast, we normally did not have a wait, since we went early enough to beat the crowds. Lunch was an average wait time of 10-20 minutes. For dinner, we waited an average of 30-45 minutes to get seated. The service was hit or miss for the first few days. As the week went on, we did have a couple waiters that were good; Kiki was awesome!!! The resort, for us at least, was too big. They had golf carts shuttling people around. There were actually stops with an estimated time on when the next cart would arrive (which were normally not accurate). Room service took at least an hour for each of the 4-5 times we called them. The resort, overall, just seemed a bit understaffed. We did tip well, and it seemed by the end of the week, the waiters had remembered us and were more eager to wait on us and provide better service, knowing that we tipped well. The resort also had a Members Club, which they seemed to appeal to. In addition, they had lots of weddings there as well, and also appealed to the wedding parties. PROS: Again, the resort is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were very nice and clean. The food was 4 out of 5. I only wish they had a buffet offering for lunch/dinner. The pools and grounds were nice as well, always kept clean. Lazaro at the pool bar was always on point. He needs a raise! The one day we had asked for Coors Light cans, and he hopped on a bicycle and brought back a case of cans. Totally went out of his way to please us! Overall, we had a nice vacation, but we probably won't go back, as there are so many other resort offerings in Mexico that we would like to visit. More
Beautiful Place, Awesome Staff, Great Service
I visited The resort in May for a wedding and it was an amazing stay. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food and drinks were excellent. The room was spacious, beds comfortable and always stocked with refreshments.More
Love Mexico! have been there many times. El Dorado Royale was a HUGE dissappointment!!!
Customer Service-POOR Main Lobby did not have welcome champagne/warm towels offered. No concierge service upon arrival, just a âBest Westernâ style front desk, with a line and disengaged service. They did not inform us/guide us on dinner reservations or property layout. Inconsistent cleaning and turn down times in our rooms. Could not get bottled water and other amenities replaced, even with REPEATED requests. Room- POOR So much for desiring Oceanside, just so we could hear the tractor every hour cleaning the abundant amount of seaweed from the shore. Paper thin walls. Loved waking up at 6:30am to them pressure washing the sidewalks right outside our window. Restaurants-Average Often times there were long waits. Again no one guided us on making our reservations upon arrival to secure dining. They ran out items, mint, and that is the last âkabobâ entrée⦠what? MANY weddings so a lot of the dining rooms were taken by large groups and could not accommodate us. Not one meal that one of us could say, wow that was wonderful. Pools-Average It was nice that there were three. However one was very small and geared toward the elderly, the 2nd one was salt water-yuk, 3rd was very fun and offered a nice mix of shade/sun( however no trace of chlorine...) We didn't have any trouble getting lounge chairs no matter the time we arrived. Bars-POOR They do not have enough tenders at ANY of them. They do not wash let alone sanitize the drinkware, they just dip the glasses in a sink of water. Other resorts we stayed at used disposable. 1 person attending poolside serviceâ¦an hour later you would get your drinks. Beach-AWFUL The seaweed is so intrusive that they rake and tractor scoop it up every hour. therefore no ocean activity, like parasailing or jet skis close by. Huge rocks and barriers that are ugly. Nice cabanas and many of them. Misc. We all got sick, we arrived on Wednesday and by Thursday morning I was sick and we just kept dropping like flies. Consensus on the plane ride home was 80% of us that stayed at this property were sick, did not enjoy the property and would not go back. It is too big they cannot effectively care for all of their guests at the 5 star level they claim. And they are adding a Nickelodeon Park to it, good grief. Clearly cater to weddings and their premium guests. Entertainment was fine. Two bars, one that could seat 20 pl, the other bar was standing room or rope swings. Then when we came to check out there was a fee for $164 for an excursion that we did not go on. As a matter of fact my husband scuba dives and did not feel at all secure at this property so did not get that opportunity this vacation. Of course they tried to solicit us with misleading coupons to meet with them to become time share owners. Hell no! Loomis travel was cordial and fine! Weather was great! We had a horribly stinky pillow that they sprayed with chemical when we asked them to remove it from the room and they put it back on the bed. We started out the trip with 2 washcloths by the second day and for the balance of the stay my husband and I had to share one wash cloth the rest of the trip because they never replaced it. We had to hide our bottled water us to ensure that we would get more because if you used more than 4 bottles in one day (2 per person) you wouldnât get more.Alsoâ¦we canât forget the salt and pepper availability. Only one per restaurant so as soon as you asked for it they would bring it to you from someone else table and then promptly take it away. Really?!?!? Water, salt, pepper, washclothsâ¦.were all rationed thank god they didnât ration the toilet paper. It was a LARGE resort which was neat in a way that it provided plenty of room to roam. There was always shade to seek which can be nice to get out of the sun. The Cabanas were plentiful which means seeking shade on a bed outdoorsâ¦was relaxing. The downside to a LARGE resort is the non-stop golf carts that you constantly have the yield the right of way to.More
I'm well traveled and this place took to most excellent care of the guests like we have never seen before. EVERYONE on the property is so kind every day every time. Special about out to Jorge Cruze who was simply awesome taking care of us at the cabana's. More
