Join together a pair of close-to-the-beach hotels, give them an all-over facelift, and what do you get? The fresh-faced ClubHotel Riu Costa del Sol, which is good-to-go for summer 2017.
This place used to be split in two, as the Hotel Riu Costa Lago and the Hotel Riu Belplaya. But, for summer 17, they've had a top-to-bottom refurb, and have joined forces as the ClubHotel Riu Costa del Sol.
Location-wise, you couldn’t ask for much more. The beach is right over the road, through the hotel’s gardens. And although it’s at the quiet end of Torremolinos, the centre is only a five-minute cab ride away.

Just arrived home from staying at the Rui Costa Del Sol do not believe all the negative write ups, the hotel is fantastic from the rooms to all the staff they work extremely hard in the very hot weather. The entertainment team are fantastic work hard throughout the day and night, well done Rui, the food is varied and there is always something for everyone, we will be going back there. More
My partner and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel and I just had to write a review. The hotel and the staff are fantastic. The hotel it's self is beautifully maintained. The staff work around the clock to ensure that the hotel is always presented to the highest standard. The reception staff couldn't be more helpful and polite. Our room was spacious and modern. Cleaned daily by the extremely hard working team of maids. The pools are great. There are 3 to choose from, as well as a small children's pool and a splash park which looked ideal for parents with young children as it was completely enclosed, making a safe environment for your little ones. There is also no shortage of sun beds, so even if you aren't up at the crack of dawn, finding a bed didn't seem to be a problem. The restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful and the choice of food was great. Previous reviews had mentioned a tummy bug but we saw no sign of this. There are alcohol hand gels dotted around the hotel, outside the toilets and restaurants to help prevent anything like this happening. The hotel backs onto the beach which is beautiful and it is minutes away from the bars, shops and restaurants. The main drinking area is called the Square and this was a €12 taxi ride away from the hotel although you really don't need to go there to have a good night on the town. I can not fault this hotel or the holiday. It has something for everybody. Fantastic. Keep up the good work Riu Costa Del Sol!More
First impressions, simply the friendliest reception I have ever received in a hotel Hotel rooms. Spotless, well maintained and spacious Pool areas fantastic. Absolutely no problem getting a sun bed even at 11 am. Again the pool areas were spotless and the pool staff were seen regularly testing the water (I can only assume chlorine levels etc) Animation team extremely hard working but never 'in your face' Food. Honestly the first time in an AI hotel I have not felt the need to have to leave the hotel due to repetitive food, plenty of choice throughout the day. All good quality all hot Bars. Plenty of them and several self serve. The cocktails are at best adequate, but very little queuing if this were an all singing cocktail bar you'd be waiting all day !! The only one small negative I can comment on is the lack of public toilets in the hotel. These were however spotless yet again I have read reviews saying this hotel was not upto normal riu standards ! Really ? I'd love to see the ones that are upto standard !! Probably not the cheapest holiday around but would I do it again? 110%. Well played riu More
Don't believe what you read!!!
We have just returned from our 10 day honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. We always stay at Riu hotels and this is by far the best we have ever stayed in. In fact we are going to book again for next year. We was greeted with a bottle of champagne in our room which was a lovely thoughtful touch. We had our concerns having read the reviews regarding the 'stomach bug' but we were perfectly ok and we didn't hear of anyone else being poorly either. We put it down to the recent insurance scam that seems to be popular at the moment which is a shame as it gives excellent hotels a bad name. Anyone who is considering going to this hotel please do not be put off by these 'reviews' it is a lovely clean hotel. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us, food was excellent. We would normally eat out at least once but there was no need this time as the food was really really good and there was a lot of choice. The Andalusian restaurant in particular was excellent! The hotel and rooms were immaculate. Entertainment was good every night and the entertainment staff were bubbly and outgoing and always something to do. They are a credit to the hotel. Overall we couldn't have wished for a better honeymoon and was the perfect end to the best time of our lives. Thank you to everyone at Clubhotel Riu Costa Del Sol for the best holiday ever!!! See you next year More
Great family hotel
We went on a family holiday with my 10 year old nephew and stayed s week in this lovely family hotel. We went at the beginning of the summer holidays so as expected it's busy. However the hotel is well spread out with 3 pools the largest facing the beachfront. Food has a good selection and as with all inclusive you can keep going to try different dishes if you don't like some. Hotel is exceptionally clean and attention to detail is second to none. There were the reports of the big back in May/June but you can see the lengths they have gone to and also had traced it back to a family from another country. I witnessed a man not English grabbing food with his hand rather than using the tongs and many people walking past the automated hand sanitiser straight into the restaurant - how on earth does a hotel stand a chance when you have to deal with dis-respectful people like that! Come on guys it's common sense start educating your family! Anyway back to the hotel lots if activities throughout the day for all levels and the staff were fantastic. Evening entertainment majority of the time was great they work so hard all through the day and evening! There are some guests who were there without children and sometimes moaned about children who were having fun in the pool!! Sorry but you have come to a family orientated hotel - why would you do this right at the start of summer holidays and not pick an adults only if you want to rest!!! Not far to put the staff in a position like this when you're wrong to want to want peace in this type of environment. Overall great place to visit ideal location for you and your family at peak times with the beach in front and a nice promenade to walk down. More
