Great value for money from this 3 star hotel
We stayed for week from 15th October in room 313. As always we base this review on the fact that this is a 3 star hotel and that we found really reasonable deal through Thomson Good points: ~ What a reception from Christina! Probably the best welcome that we have had from any hotel she was lovely - thank you ~ The food is excellent overall, the deserts are the best we have found in an all inclusive in the Mediterranean and Canaries. The best dishes were the Rhodian dishes, you must try the Gyros. Photos show some of the evening meal on 22nd October ~ We had excellent evenings around the bar (so sorry can't remember the barman's name but see photo) Yamas!!! ~ There was always a sunbed around the pool or gardens ~ The bedrooms were spacious for us as a couple ~ Each room in the hotel itself has a balcony ~ The pool bar was good, Sangria some days, excellent variety of snacks ~ The shop is a large one and even though this was right at the end of the season was well stocked - clearly in the main season there would be more stock still. Never seen bigger donuts! ~ The beach is good, although stony (you will need water / river shoes to be comfortable). It is 100 metres from reception ~ Entertainment was OK, the guys work hard day and night. Just don't expect a west end show Points to be aware of: ~ Either at the airport or on the transfer coach, put on anti-mosquito spray or cream (especially in May / October). We were bitten immediately on arrival in reception ~ Make sure you have enough sun cream, unusually for us we ran out and bought some from the shop - it was expensive (always is abroad) and didn't seem to actually work! ~ Entertainment is in an odd place by the pool and therefore limits very much what can be done. Also if you are in an odd numbered room (i.e. facing the pool) it's noisy until the entertainment is over (11pm ish). Not a problem for us, but could be if you had young kids or needed a relaxing holiday to catch up on sleep ~ The bus into Rhodes Town is really reasonable. The bus stop is on the main road you come down in your transfer and is the other side of the road to the left (outside the shops) 2.30 euro if you buy the ticket from the Driver or 2.20 euro on the way back via the kiosk in Rhodes. We were warned that occasionally they might not stop, but we went at 9.30 and had no problems, the bus was fairly empty ~ Taxi is 18 euro into Rhodes and 15 euro back (booking fee on the way out) ~ Don't buy your trips from the rep, go into Rhodes and buy direct it's much cheaper. We paid 20 euros each for the boat trip to Lindos ~ You are on the flight path to Rhodes airport. Whilst we were there planes were landing only and there was absolutely no problem - in fact were entertaining. Might be different if planes have to take off the other way though Top Tip ~ On your first day, walk down towards the beach and get the land-train around Ialyssos. It goes at 10 minutes past the hour takes about 40 minutes and costs 7 euro. It is very smoky so beware, however it is ideal to orientate you around Ialyssos, including where the shops (and therefore particularly gift shops) are - they really aren't far but it isn't obvious where they are So overall, thank you Ialyssos Bay for a very good holiday, we would definitely returnMore

We got a 10 night break A/I mid October for my wife and I, for £320 each, so we were not expecting 5 star. Check in was good, asked for high floor/double bed/sun on afternoon, got room 328 perfect. Room cleaned every day, spotless.Pool was a bit cold, but we went to the beach a couple of times, and the water was warm, beach nice and quiet. Village was about a ten minute walk, a few bars open, and were reasonably priced, plenty shops etc.Restaurant was fine, julia very helpful, and there was always something there to eat. Arthur at the bar was excellent, very polite at all times...pretty good hotel, but we prefer promenades, and more lively places.enjoyed our cheapy...Thanks to all staff.More
Very nice relaxing stay
Short journey from the airport, quick check-in and nice size rooms. The hotel rooms are either in the grounds (mainly studios) or in the main building which is only 3 floors high(There is a 4 floor with only a few rooms on) We had rooms 310 & 312 both looked out to the side/front of the hotel with view of the hills and sea. The rooms were bright and clean and had a balcony. The main restaurant was very pleasant and we always found there was plenty of table to choose from (peak season maybe different) the food was all self service with plenty of choice. There is a small out side part each side of the restaurant. Out side the pool was very clean, and we always found a sun bed. By 1030 most by the pool had gone but there are plenty more to use in the garden area. The day/night time entertainment was limited and the entrainment team seemed worn out from the season! The beach is just a short walk away passing the mini golf & tennis court. Snack bar by the pool was good, and at the main bar you were always severed quickly. I found all the staff spoke and were friendly, and would recommend this hotelMore

Should be called Ialyssos PAY hotel
Recently arrived back from this hotel. Firstly we booked a Studio with garden view which shows on the First Choice website as having a large corner sofa and double bed. Paid an extra £70 for this. When we arrived at approx 2pm we were given instructions to our room through some gardens. So having lugged our suitcases passed the pool, through some gardens and up some steps we arrived at our room. Disappointed is an understatement. It was basically just a double room, no sign of the sofa etc. So we made our way back to reception and I explained I had booked a studio, she said you have been given a studio so I showed her the photos on the First Choice website. She said I would have to wait for the rep to arrive at 4pm. The rep Helen was fantastic with us as we explained the situation and she admitted that FC had the wrong photos displayed on their website and that she would do all she could. Anyway by 5.30 we had the room that we had booked. It hadn't been cleaned properly. There was poo on the toilet seat, there was stuff left in the fridge from previous occupants and no towels. To be honest the cleaning of the rooms in this hotel takes a lot to be desired. Don't know when the orange cushions were last cleaned but they smelt really bad of sweaty heads. Surfaces were rarely wiped down and IF the cleaners swept they just swept everything outside as we could see it on the steps to our room. They only mopped twice in a week. Wardrobes were musty and the top shelf hadn't been cleaned in a while as we found some toilet roll which someone must have stashed and was covered in dust. There was a hairdryer in the room, no kettle. Air conditioning worked fine. The view from our front door was just a A pile of rubbish, making our way to the dining room there was a skip with more rubbish. The pool area was small and cramped, never saw any empty beds. There were some around the gardens (which had very little grass). Only visited the pool bar twice while we were there, was very untidy and not clean at all. The food was left open and no plates on either occasion. The restaurant was very clean and the decor was nice. The food was awful! Very cheap food, tinned mushrooms in garlic. Pea casserole (pea slop) liver on offer most nights. Flan base with tinned fruit on top. There was grilled chicken and pork kebabs couple of times but all the meat here was very very dry. Only thing we could find to eat were the pizzas. They were okay but it was like eating cheese on toast so they weren't cooked with the right cheese. Even the chips were rubbish. Desserts were okay, the Greek ones were lovely. Tried soup one night as it said chicken but was very watery and had a layer of grease on top. Next time I went it was Cream of Nettle soup so I gave that a miss. Breakfast was the best offering of the day with freshly made pancakes or waffles. Orange juice was watered down very badly. The drinks were equally as bad. As a non drinker I rely on soft drinks, water and coffees. The soft drinks weren't branded names like Coke or Fanta, but some home home brand like Roller Cola, Awful! Water was not included and had to be paid for and the only coffee you could get was plain old Americano from a machine. No cappuccinos or lattes here I'm afraid. They had some cocktails which my husband tried, only one which was okay was the pina colada. He asked for a Baileys one night and they wanted â¬5, no Irish cream all inclusive. Entertainment awful. Playing some throwing games in the (grassless) gardens or growing darts at a board on a tree. Evening entertainment equally as bad. I have been to more than a few AI hotels and this has to be one of the worst offerings I have ever encountered. I really don't understand the great reviews here, unless they paid peanuts for it. Even then I wouldn't go back. The beach outside the hotel is lovely, pebble and stone. Beds are â¬6 for two with umbrella. We actually used the beds from Pattys and if you had your lunch there the beds were free. There is a shop in the hotel which is open until 11pm which is handy. The resort was nice with a good range of restaurants, bars and shops. Would return to Ialyssos but not this hotel. More
RUN DOWN AND TIRED
We paid extra to have a studio room as our teenage son was with us - the room was one of the smallest rooms I have ever seen for a family room and certainly wasn't as per the picture of the studio room on the Thomson website which depicted the additional bed at least 4 ft away from the double bed it was less than 2ft! The bathroom door didn't stay shut, it wasn't overly clean either, bed cushions smelt dirty, room smelt musty and fridge had a pool of water at the bottom - On entering the Hotel reception the chairs and settees looked like they were so old and tired - new ones need to be purchased! we asked to get a drink as arrived on a night flight only to be told there was some soup and rolls and coke if we wanted it (stale rolls and watered down coke for your reference). In the morning we went to breakfast to find orange juice so watered down it wasn't even squash and the bananas and applies were all brown they had been out so long. We moved hotels the same day and went to the D' Andreas Mare - would recommend that hotel!More
