10 Night Thomson Stay
We came here in late September on a 10 night Thomson holiday. Initially we were sceptical as the hotel appeared to be a bargain compared to other local offerings. We are now ten days in and are still in amazement to the value for money we received. Yes, the evening entertainment is something of a shambles but the hotel is a great location, go and explore the local bars and restaurants. Our personal recommendations would be Pezolli and our old favourite, Patty's, situated right next to the hotel - always great service and ambience! The all inclusive food offering is definitely worth going for as we always managed to find something to eat, although occasionally having to be a little experimental with our taste buds... They claim to serve tastes around the world but be prepared to eat lots of chips!! Drinks are limited to local beer and wine (a little trivial on the taste side) and around 10 cocktails served! All in all even if it's just for breakfast and the bar drinks it's worth it! The rooms are spotless - but be careful when you shower during peak times. You will be welcomed with a shower as cold as the pool! The staff/reps are very friendly and always at hand for helpful tips for any excursions around the Island - local bus routes and directions etc... We would recommend renting a car as this worked out cheaper than most excursion rates! Another thing just to make note of is that the hotel says 'no towel reservations on sun beds' yet most people have theirs out ready pre 8am - and we went off peak time!! All in all, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend a stay. Ialyssos Bay for Life. Peace!More
What a brilliant hotel
Good great no complaints at all Staff excellent Rooms good conditions, well kept. Most bulbs are energy saving, ok but for people with eye conditions where they are unable to see well in the dark this can be a struggle as it was for my wife Shop very reasonable Laundry - no on site laundry service however there is a laundry you can use Arrived after 1am and soup and available, v nice touch Bar all inclusive until midnight, then payable until 2 am Bar staff friendly, Arthur is a nice chap Sometimes for 2 weeks you can get bored of food but you know what, no complaints here all was lovely with a good selection One point if you do miss the evening meal, you can buy great pizza's for 4 or 5 ⬠from the bar Room 556 well situated and comfortable Planes overhead, yes they are close but after awhile you don't hear them Pool is lovely, used it daily Not too many mosquito's so not many bites though used spray and plug in in the room Great wifi coverage Beach, â¬3 for a bed and bottle of water and wifi for an hour, white umbrellas, orange ones are for use of Patti's Bar customers and also â¬3 but then have waitress service. Beach is all stones but sea is nice and pleasant, it was however very windy For the price no bad comments, just a few observations Toilets need cleaning more often, the waste paper bins in the cubicles were often over flowing, not nice and whilst we spoke to reception and they sorted it, this isn't something I would expect to have to do, basic cleanliness Grass area, whilst all the grounds were in general well kept there were lots of cigarette butts all over the place, and considering we're very rarely saw anyone smoking and we had sum beds here for 12 out of our 14 days, then thus needs to be tidied up There's lots of cats around with a particularly playful little dark one, whose claws are worn and teeth are not sharp, she's just very playful I would highly recommend this great hotel More
Very very good.
Such a lovely place, the animation team were top notch and entertaining even when off duty. I must say that the food does get a bit samey after a while although there are many lovely restaurants around the island which are brilliantly priced. The room was lush and the pool was awesome. More
Ok, firstly this holiday was very cheap, so you can't expect too much. The hotel was spotllessly clean and the staff were all absolutely excellent, friendly and helpful and never had to wait long to be served and there was always a smile and friendly comment. The reception staff were also friendly and hellpful Although the hotel has a no reserving sunbed policy this isn't worth anything. Towels are put on sunbeds THE NIGHT BEFORE and nothing is done about it and its very difficult to get a sunbed if you go down after 8 am and that was end September, Can't imagine what it would be like in high season. The rooms were adequate and clean and no complaints whatsover there. The all inclusive drinks were local only and only choice was vodka, gin, brandy and choice of white or red wine (just 1 choice of each) which was OK with meals but not drinkable on its own. The soft drinks included the usual diet cola, cola, lemonade, orange but were competely undrinkable, they were sugary sweet and awful so bought them from the onsite shop for 1.30 EUROS, Also, if you wanted bottled water, then you had to buy it. They had a variety of cocktails but you couldn't taste the alcohol and again they were very sweet. The food was average but by the end of the two weeks, was becoming very repetitive and a litle boring but again, it was cheap so didn't expect much more The restaurant manager, Julia, worked very hard and made a point of greeting everyone and definitely a good asset for the hotel We had an evening flight and asked to keep our roon and was charged an extortionate 40 euros but if you wanted it after 6 pm, it went up to 80 euros and we didn;t even get clean towels!!! The hotel provides towels round the pool for a deposit of 10 euros and 1 euro per day, but it isn't worth paying this as you can buy towels from the hotel shop for 7 euros!! You cannot get a decent coffee, no cappacino, white milky or lattes only a coffee from a machine which wasn;t brilliant. There wasn't even an option to buy one!! There is a little town about 7 minute walk away with quite a few shops/bars/restaurants and breaks the monotony because the hotel entertainment is probably the worse I've ever encountered and EVERYONE was complaining about it. It was virtually non existent, One night was a film - Mamma Mia, The two members of the entertainment team, used to stand on the outside stage mumbling to each other and noone knew what on earth they were talking about. If you want to go to sleep before midnight, then forget it because the music is blaring out just below you room and you can't shut it out, which would be ok if it was worth listening to, but if it was worth listening to you would be down there and not in your room!! The outdoor "stage" is minute and they put a dozen or so chairs in front of it but don't lean back of you will fall in the swimming pool. Alternatively you can sit in the pool bar but it is so far from the stage (the other side of the pool) and you can't see what's going on or hear vey well. Honestly the entertainment is a disgrace!1 In summary, on the whole it was good value for money, cheap, clean and friendly.More
Plane Spotters Paradise!
Having just returned fro this hotel I must say I had read the previous reviews and was prepared for some aircraft noise! However I was not prepared for planes every ten minutes from morning until night! It seems like the hotel has a big arrow on the roof saying airport this way! As the wheels are down ready for landing it is noisy! And Thomsons your planes are the noisiest along with the Russians! That apart the hotel is spotless apart from the hall carpet. Easy jet orange is not an ideal colour to keep clean when the guest spill drinks on it! Dinning room and bedrooms are clean and tidy. Bedrooms are large and minimally furnished. Food is good and I am a picky eater! I don't eat red meat or pasta and only had to resort to pizza and chips once. Food could have been hotter but when you are catering for large numbers this is always a problem. Pool area is chaotic and the loungers are broken and need cleaning the dawn raiders start out at 4.30 but I could always get a bed at around ten o'clock so what's the point! You can get water at the snack bar although not in bottles but on tap all day. This is a GREEK 4 Star if it was in the UK it would rate as 2.5/3 the staff work hard in difficult circumstances people are not always pleasant! Would I go back probably not as the area is very run down and the beach is not particularly pleasant for walks or lounging ,nowhere to walk too in the evenings and the entertainment dire apart from the Latin night on my second week the first week was certainly no strictly come dancing ! (UK readers will know what I am on about). More
