Good value holiday all round
We spent the final week of the season here and were pretty much the last to leave before they shut for the winter. Despite the dwindling number of guests left the entertainment team, bar and catering staff still worked as if it was the height of the season. Food can get a bit repetetive but it is all fresh and well prepared and tasted good, with plenty for every palate. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Caroline and Jelle were enthusuastic and there was always something on the go but you were not pestered into joining in - if you did then it was fun without being too competetive! With the numbers of guests we did not have to hunt for sun beds, but I'd be really careful in the main summer season as there pool area, whilst nice, is quite small and we heard tales of it being absolutely manic and many guests having to queue for beds and then place them in various locations around the grounds - be warned. We all had a great time there and it felt warm and friendly and just what you want from a break away. My kids particularly liked the fact there was free Wi-Fi everywhere and there were lots of kittens roaming around, and a dog they befriended who they named Doug!! If you don't like cats then a quick wave of the hand gave them the message. A good holiday and would recommend for a week but think the food might become rather tiresome for 2 weeks and the size of the pool area in the main season would definitely put me off.More

Nice Hotel, Clean Pleasant Stay
This is a fair review. I state this because a few of the reviews I have read are either bad (not fair) or over the top on how good it is. Firstly the hotel. Nice clean rooms, pleasant food, nothing too special (a bit the same after a week) and ok alcohol. The hotel was nice with polite staff and always very clean, we had room service everyday even though there was a note to say every other. The restaurant opened at regular times and there was also food at the bar and pool (certain times). I didn't think the entertainment was that good even though the reps were good at what they were doing. The free bar however was a different matter, yes it was free at certain times (some people who left negative reviews must not have noticed the pool bar was open most of the day), but the house alcohol was basic and the soda was too sweet and very frothy. The restaurant had a range of Greek and regular (english) food. I believe they do greek food well but english food poorly. I couldn't eat the fried breakfast as it was too oily/greasy, which wasn't a bad thing as I had opted for a healthier breakfast every day. Same with the evening meals, too much oil with the (roast) vegetables. The Greek food was quite nice though. Be carefull of the bones with the fish. Also they did offer to help with any dietary requirements. The pool was in good condition with a decent deep end (no diving allowed) and didn't have to fight for beds, but I think that maybe a different story in the summer. Out and a about. The wether was poor when we went, which was NOT the hotels fault. I say this because it seems some people we basing their whole review on how bad it rained. Saying this as the weather was bad there isn't much to do unless you go to Rhodes Town which has some indoor activities to offer. There are local shops in walking distance, a wind surfing point 5 mins. down the beach and a local beach bar. Around the local area, as some of Greece are evidence of the recession with run down buildings. Our Rep Ruben, had a list of excursions (some were off or changed because of the time of year), which looked ok, we went to Turkey for the day, if you like shopping. Be careful on you baggage weight coming back. But the other excursions we did go for because of the wether. Traveling. Rhodes is about 1.5 hour to 2.5 hour walk, which is do-able, prob 1/2 hour bike. Bus 20 mins (5 min walk to busstop) Or 10mins taxi. There is also a local hire in the hotel which was very reasonable. The holiday. A lot of people were put out because of the wether - heavy thunderstorms. But this can be expected at that time of year (do some research #CantPredictTheWeather) but the week before was highs of 29c and 21c in the night - 7 days too late. I would suggest the first week of october instead. This is not a five/four star hotel. Considering the £900ish we paid rather than the book price of £1800ish, which was due to our original hotel not being available and being up-graded, I wouldn't have been happy paying full price for this, even though we had a good holiday (except for the wether). The hotel was nice, but the food, drink situation wouldn't have been value for money as it is a 3 star venue. But an excellent 3 star. Pro/Con round up. Pros- Nice, clean, good staff, ok food, nice pool for lounging. Cons - If you like getting about, it is a good base, but a bit far from Rhodes Town. IT IS ON A FLIGHT PATH (which weren't as bad as I read, I am a light sleeper and I slept though) but I guess it is busier in the summer. Rain, if it does rain, the water runs off of the roof and hits every gutter on the way down (which is noisier than the planes) it is a bad design which a lot of greek properties have and you can not change. Overall. Very nice hotel, but not as good as some of the reviews (this hotel doesn't deserve the bad reviews). Would have been better with a bit more sun. Value for the money we paid.More

Ruben - Best welcome speech I have been to word perfect for a greek, sorry portuguese rep!! Entertainments team - hard working always with a smile I liked the Casino night low key and it seemed like we were just one big family having a games night. Proffesional entertainment - personally I didn't enjoy the first group of Latin dancers but then I hate dancing. Greek band with Greek dancers much better although I think they need a Bass Player (I am available for the whole of next season! ;-) Hotel staff and all the Greeks we came in contact with were very friendly and seemed to genuinely want to help. even the car hire rep at the airport saw us miss our turning chased after us in his car and made us follow him to the hotel (not hotel related but an example of the hospitality received) Food was of good to excellent quality for the type of hotel the choice was excellent. If you had one main course each meal time you would have not had to have the same meal twice in a week if not a fortnight. I am not saying it is 5* haute cuisine before anyone suggests I have never been on holiday before or dont know what good food is, Just good honest buffet style food. Thanks Chef!! Drinks- Strange that some meals you couldn't get coffee. Im not a big drinker so cant comment on quality of drinks but the lime Soda hit the spot Rooms brilliant clean comfortable. Saw a foto of a dodgy bathroom in the reviews but thank god either I was lucky or these have since been refurbished. mine was perfect! Beach fine but spent didnt actually stay on it. Windsurfing hire place 10 minute up the beach (turn right at hotel beach) excellent quality gear take your own wet suit Would I stay there again? I dont tend to go to the same place twice as there is so much of the world to explore but if this hotel was uplifted and placed in another country I would not hesitate to book it again!! Thank you Ialyssos Bay Hotel StaffMore
The staff are what makes this hotel - we arrived just before the end of dinner and we were ushered in quickly to make the most of this. A great deal of care is taken over the food in general, from clear signage to offers to help with any dietary requirements etc. The housekeepers and chambermaids, the reception staff all good. The main chef was fantastic. The only criticism is the quality of the mixers, coke etc. We ended up buying Schweppes tonic, because the gin was fine, but their tonic ruined it! We would go back, and we liked the island of Rhodes. the weather was not good, but that was not the hotel's fault.More

defo not recommended!!
Where do I start... first of all we were quoted this holiday as a "4 star" no way it only just scraped a 3 star. Very basic hotel, basic as can be. Due to the weather being absolutly terrible having thunderstorms everyday and terrential rain it was a choice of sitting in the room watching the same news channels on the TV on repeat 24 hours a day or sitting in the reception area reading books or playing cards! Food was very basic and repetitive as for the reviews where people say "excellent" all I can say is they were either staying in a different hotel or have never been on holiday before lol. Drinks were disgusting, own brand everything even soft drinks were like panda pops lol cocktails just too sweet like sherbert alcohol ewww. To say it was all inclusive drink times were restricted and in an afternoon was refused a drink until 6pm when the bar opens! Nothing around the hotel resort looks very run down would be the only way to describe, very boring could not wait to come home!! Was advised to go here as was guaranteed good weather for the time of year - clearly NOT! Would not advise going here in october infact even at all.More
