With a beachfront setting, huge pool and serene spa, the Blau Varadero has tropical retreat written all over it.
Varadero’s white-sand beach underlines this high-rise hotel – the wooden walkway that leads through the grounds will take you to it. The waterside setting means the hotel gets fantastic sea views, too.
Tropical gardens hide a massive pool and a chic spa, while on the dining front you’ve got a triple helping of restaurants to pick between.

We went to Havana for 4 days then down to this hotel for 10 days the hotel was beautiful with all the greenery inside. After dusty and hectic Havana it was a lovely clean relaxing place. The beach was fab as was the pool area. Very quiet as no children here. Food was reasonable always found something we enjoyed. However no covers on food and thousands of flies. We only are the meat and fish that was cooked in front of us. We had a bus to varadero, a nice town with some nice cafes and stalls. There's a big flea market too. We needed to do some trips the second week as nothing around the hotel and beach/pool gets very boring all day every dayMore
The Good 1. The beach was incredible! The most beautiful water, beach isn't too crowded, and no children around. It's truly paradise! 2. We had the most amazing dining experience at the International A La Carte restaurant (think it's called "Palma Real")! Wow, the service was exceptional, the food was so tasty, and it was so fun to dine in luxury for one evening! I also enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, I didn't think it was as bad as some people on here have said, but that's just my opinion! The "Meh" 1. The rest of the food was alright. The buffets were pretty decent, there's tons of selection! I know food in Cuba isn't supposed to be anything spectacular, so we had pretty low expectations. We ended up being pleasantly surprised. I will say, the coffee & cream is awful, the cheeses are pretty bland, and the vegetables aren't the freshest looking. The desserts were pretty awesome though! Also we loved the guy at the egg station in the mornings, makes great omelettes and fried eggs! Also, there's tea time around 4pm by the bar on the ground floor, lots of tea and cookies out. Kind of fun to hit up after spending the day swimming. 2. The entertainment was okay. After a few drinks, it was pretty amusing. The Bad 1. The first night we arrived, we were put in a room on one of the lower floors. Unfortunately there was an ant issue in the room, and we found the bed completely uncomfortable, very comparable to sleeping on a box spring. We requested to be moved, which they obliged for our second night. We got moved to the 12th floor, fortunately where there were no ants, but still had to deal with the exact same type of bed. We kind of just felt defeated and accepted that we wouldn't sleep great on this trip. 2. Both my friend and I came down very ill. I spent the last 3 days of the trip in my room, on the toilet... Enough said. I will say that this is common in Cuba (i.e. not the hotel's fault necessarily), and I don't have the most hardy stomach. I will say the lady working at the pharmacy was great, and hooked me up with some awesome tasting electrolytes. 3. The elevators are slow, there are only 4 for the entire hotel, and we did have a scary experience where my friend and I got on one of the elevators and it shut down as soon as the doors closed. It was freaky! I don't trust those things at all!More
Lovely resort with good amenities. I wouldn't say this is a super luxurious resort but it was wonderful. Thank you to all the cubans and other workers who made my experience great! I would go back in a heart beat!More
We stayed for 5 nights in total. The standard was much better than I expected having researched hotels extensively. Our room was clean and spacious although quite dated in the bathroom; it wouldn't take much to greatly improve this. Our maid left a Birthday cake when she saw Birthday cards had been opened in our room. The lunch food was by far the best, with fresh fish and a variety of salads and other cooked dishes. There was also always a live band, which we enjoyed. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a lot of choice but were always the same and we found we got a bit bored. We enjoyed the food in one of the two restaurants but the Mexican restaurant food wasn't very good, again though, we enjoyed the live music at both. The beach was lovely, with huts to shade you and a bar on the beach as well as a bar set back slightly, serving food. We found also the staff to be friendly and helpful, overall we were very pleased and would return.More
Nice hotel. Fabulous staff. Beautiful beach.
The hotel was a bit tired in parts and they made a few mistakes with our booking. In general we loved it. Beach was lovely. It was the staff that made that hotel (particularly bar/restaurant) they were so friendly! The food in palm real was amazing. We'd def recommend. Cocktails were ok... varied from bar to bar. Take tips for the staff, they deserve it! More
