This place gets glowing reviews, and it’s easy to see why. It’s home to six pools, including one for games and activities, another that puts the focus firmly on chilling out, and two that are just for kids. Throw in a trio of snack bars and poolside waiter service, and you’ve got a pretty impressive set-up. As for dining, there’s a buffet plus four speciality restaurants, including a Japanese place where you can watch your dinner being cooked on a huge teppanyaki plate. The icing on the cake? A beachfront address – the sand lies just beyond the hotel’s well-groomed gardens.

Beach 5* Resort 3*
We have been in Cuba 3 times. This being the third. The Hotel itself is nice. Easy to navigate, nice pools, nice section of beach. Enclosed lobby means everywhere you turn you will get a puff of smoke in your face. We had a suite on the second floor which was very nice and lots of room. Kept very clean except for very small ant like bugs that would attack any small food particles that actually dropped on floor. Then there was the typical ant mentality. "Everyone get that food". That brings me to the food at this resort. We have been to 5 different resorts now as I said before 3 in Cuba. 1 in Mexico. 1 in DR. This was the worse. Left out in the buffett too long, the food is definitely not a good selection and is not kept fresh as can be. The a la cartes are not bad but need work. Japanese being best. The loungers at this resort are very uncomfortable. If you go take a thin mat, you will not regret it. Get a data package and call pqckage foe your cell phone if you like the internet as well. This will enable you to keep in touch with home without paying 5 pesos for 1 hr. You also can change your money at the resort with no problem. No advantage to doing at airport.More

great resort for the first time to Cuba
I was going solo ,at the last minute a friend came with me.a safe resort to go solo.lots of Canadian around..felt like being at a beach at home .no facecloth, the beach chair not comfortable bring a inflatable mattress .Activiites at the beach awesome, dance lesson, stretching, aqua fitness were my preferred activities.Nice terrace to met friend ,to take a drink before you go for dinner. Furniture need to be change int lobby.we we're upgrade to a oceanview room because our room was not ready.....wow...room 19320... Was the best ,away from the noise of the main pool.if you go to the cubain restaurent dont take the lobster.italian restaurant not a Italian cuisine .the beat was the Japanese restaurant. And reserve as soon as you get there....and don't be late for your reservation..they will give your table to someone else without a reservation. Buffet ok but after a few days...it's always the same food...no variety from one day to the other.. Nice resort ..but the food......!!!!! Could be a lot better.More

Was ok, nothing great!
I had read reviews for this hotel and it seemed like a good choice. The location of the hotel is amazing, the beach was exactly what we wanted. However, the service wasn't. On two different occasions we had to wait almost 2 hrs to get a bottle of water to our room! We would of bought it at the mini store in the hotel, but it closes at 8pm. I had called room service (which is another story) and the front desk multiple times and was told it's on it's way. We were very disappointed and when the water did come, the maid was no apologetic for the wait at all. She was more annoyed that she had to bring the water. If you order room service, expect to wait a long long time. We ordered a dessert at 8pm and didn't arrive until 11pm. I called many times and we gave up and went to the bar, watched the nightly show and came back and it still hadn't arrived. Overall, the staff was nice and would say hello, but no one did anything to make our stay memorable. The resort itself was nice, but because of the service I wouldn't stay at it again.More

Well to start if you plan to go there bring an air matress for the beach and pool chairs as they are really uncomfortable. We were there for one week in April and we loved it. Service is great people are friendly, our room was awesome. |There is a lot to do on this resort and what we liked was the girl at night playing the piano in the Lobby she was awesome. The resort plus the trip to |Varadero and Havana for the day was amazing and very safe. The only thing we were a bit disappointed was the check in we arrived at the resort at noon and the rooms were not ready and told to come back at 3pm, witch we did and not ready before 330 they should change this. otherewise to change money to Cuban money it's easy and fast at the resort. We loved to place and we will definitely be back with our air matress for the chairs.More
Great vacation, loved the country and people
We stayed at Laguna Azul from Mar.31-Apr.5 with our 7 mth old daughter. The resort was impressive, rooms tasteful and staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms- the bed was too hard for me but I've found this in other Cuban resorts. The tub was a bit dated but the room was clean and spacious. Bar fridge was restocked every other day unless you found a maid and asked specifically- bottled water was important to us with our baby. Food- the buffets like anywhere have good and not so good food you just need to look around. I could always find something and also enjoyed the fresh fruit. Coffee was best from one of the bars. Drinks were strong. We went to 3 a la carte restaurants; Japanese, Tex Mex and Cuban. My only complaint is with Iberostar- you only get 2 a la cartes for a 4-6 day stay, 3 for a 7-10 day stay. We found the Tex mex (ask for Anna Lyn sp?) and Cuban (ask for Denise) to be our favourites. Try the three milk cake and lobster! The ice cream shop was great too! Staff were helpful, our daughter had tonnes of attention. We were provided with a playpen for our daughter. We brought a stroller which I would recommend since there's lots of space to walk. High chairs were available at all restaurants/buffets. The beach was beautiful. The pools were a bit chilly. Like other places people would 'mark' their chairs with belongings and not return for hours which meant it could be tricky to find a spot on the beach if you waited too late. We took the tourist bus into Varadero which was very easy to navigate. Had some delicious pizza at the mall. Also did a day trip to Havana which I definitely recommend. We felt very safe at all times and we all had a great time!!More
