South-west Sri Lanka

A choice of activities
Yala National Parks tops our family-friendly line-up of day trips. Sloth bears and monkeys are residents — and you might even spy the elusive leopard. Minneriya National Park is another option. The watering hole here reels in the biggest gathering of Asian elephants on the planet. If you fancy heading out on to the Indian Ocean, try whale watching. The blue whale — the largest animal ever known — is a regular to the warm waters of Sri Lanka.
