Argassi holidays are second-to-none for topping up tans, tucking into traditional eats and painting the town red.

South-east Zante

Tourist resort-wise, Argassi’s somewhere between family-friendly Tsilivi and lively Laganas – just half the size. It’s got a super postcode – on a beach, backed by Mount Skopos and 10 minutes’ drive from Zante Town. And it’s a good choice for families wanting a bit of action, thanks to the minigolf course and a strip full of bars and restaurants.

Pocketful of sand

Argassi Beach is the definition of small, but mighty. It’s got a good variety of bars, sunbeds and watersports. In fact, it could easily give the bigger beaches on the island a run for their money. Go for a paddle here and it’s like getting into a bath – that’s how toasty and paddle-perfect the clear waters are. Plus, there are ruins of a 19th-century Venetian bridge in the shallows for kiddies to climb.

Mix it up

The town centre’s got a bit of a buzz to it. We’re talking Lilo-stuffed shops, plus tavernas and bars with live music. Put it this way – there’s enough going on, but you won’t be disturbed if you do fancy an early night. Island capital Zante Town is only a quick cab ride away, though, for full-on nights out, as well as history-packed daytrips.
