Holidays to Corralejo take you to the north coast of Fuerteventura. It's an easy-going place that majors in surfing and sand dunes. And it's got the best nightlife on the island.
A natural beauty
Set on the north coast of Fuerteventura, Corralejo has a laid-back, natural vibe. This modern, low-rise resort spreads out from the original old town and fishing port. Surfers come for the breaks, beach-lovers for the year-round sunshine – and the ad crew to do fashion shoots against the vast expanses of fine, white sand.
Miles of coastline
Corralejo has a small beach. It’s set in a sheltered bay, and the shops, cafés and restaurants of the old town are right on hand. To the south, sand dunes form part of a nature reserve that stretches over 11 kilometres. The north is a breezier spot – here, sunbathers bask behind cleverly-constructed stone windbreaks, while surfers make the most of the waves.
Pretty town and port
Corralejo old town is a tiny warren of alleyways with whitewashed buildings. It’s a compact place, and the traffic-free main street – Avenida del Generalissimo Franco – leads from the main square down to the port. By day, you can relax over a cold drink at one of the cafés here, while at night this is the place to come for bars and dancing.
