Grand Gaube holidays have hit the snooze button, dishing up a small number of authentic eateries and swish hotels, and a lot of charming coves.
Hushed haven
As far as resorts go, Grand Gaube prefers the quiet life. This sleepy fishing village, on Mauritius’ northern coast, keeps it traditional with a few restaurants and a fistful of coves. A couple of luxe hotels have cottoned on to its charms, so you’ve got some fancy-pants places to stay, too.
Cove-carved coast
This place doesn’t do big beaches – dozy coves are more its thing. And practically every hotel has got its hands on one. If you fancy upping sticks for the day, there’s also a public beach, where traditions are firmly intact. Rainbow-coloured boats bob off-shore and fishermen heave in their catch.
