The buzz on the Costa Blanca

Benidorm is the biggest personality on the Costas, taking 4 million visitors comfortably in its stride. In the old town, you’ll find traces of traditional Spain but it’s the bold, brash sky-rise attitude that pulls in the crowds. And the place has some of the best beaches in the Med.

Family-friendly beaches

Benidorm works hard for its Blue Flag status – the 2 main beaches, Levante and Poniente, are cleaned every night. Levante is the busy one with a bar-lined promenade, and swinging bridges and slides out at sea. Further west, Poniente takes things a tad quieter, but you’re still never far from an ice-cream.

Lively nightlife

After dark, Benidorm comes alive with comedians, clowns, tribute bands and drag queens. Meanwhile, serious clubbers head for the ‘Top Road Clubs’, as they’re known, to see big-name DJs like David Morales and Judge Jules.

Close to Alicante

Alicante used to be called Lucentum, meaning ‘City of Light’, and a trip here certainly brightens up your day. A 40-minute mountainside drive takes you to this stylish sea port, where you can weave your way through tranquil parks and airy museums.
