Holidays to Tri Trang Beach are about kicking back on palm-lined sands and soaking up the laid-back attitude –all within easy reach of Patong.
Small but perfectly formed
Tri Trang Beach is in the business of getting away from it all. Even though it’s 10 minutes from party hotspot Patong, this small stretch of white sand is really quiet. And it’s as pretty as it is peaceful – a protective border of palms and pine-like casuarina trees stretch out along the bay.
A great escape
Open-air massage stalls pepper the edge of the beach – and they’re all well-stocked with muscle-soothing oils. The shallow water is ideal for snorkellers who want to clock colourful marine life, and there’s a good supply of long tail boats waiting to take you to neighbouring beaches.
Patong’s the word
Phuket’s top party town, Patong, is only a 10-minute drive along the coast. It’s a happily chaotic place, with Bangla Road – one of the noisiest places on the island – at its heart. Head here for an evening of clubbing, street food, and late-night shopping
The best of the rest
Another place within daytripping distance is Phuket Town. It’s a 30-minute drive from Tri Trang Beach and offers up a shopping scene for every kind of budget. Try the twice-weekly Indy Market on Limelight Avenue. Arty souvenirs like bags, rings, and bracelets can be personalised by the sellers in a jiffy. Or take a 15-minute tuk tuk ride to Wat Chalong, the must-see Buddhist temple where monks set off firecrackers when their prayers are answered.
