Cutting-edge architecture, spice-laden marketplaces, and temperatures you can always rely on – holidays to the United Arab Emirates cover off everyone’s wish list.
The Magnificent Seven
Relatively speaking, the United Arab Emirates – AKA the UAE – is pretty unknown on the holiday circuit. All you need to know is it’s a federation of seven states in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula. And what that means is you’re looking at sandy shores, clear waters, and gorgeous weather as standard.
It might only be five per cent the size of the biggest emirate, Abu Dhabi, but Dubai is undoubtedly the UAE’s crowd-pleaser. And you can bet that’s the work of its record-breaking abilities – after all the world’s tallest building, biggest shopping centre, and most luxurious hotel are just a few of Dubai’s accolades.
Away from the glamour of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the UAE dares to bare all. Take Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, for example. These emirates flaunt a more authentic Arabian look – think palm trees in place of skyscrapers, souks instead of shopping malls, and kaleidoscopic coral reefs in lieu of manmade islands.
