Thanks to its central setting, the Hotel Polyusi has a great mix of shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep. What’s more, there’s a soft, sandy beach just a five-minute walk away. Dotted with loungers and parasols, it’s prime sunbathing territory.
As for the hotel itself, it’s a contemporary whitewashed number – all clean lines and big windows. A fresh vanilla colour scheme paints a calm scene in the bedrooms, while tiled floors and soft muslin curtains add an airy feel. You’ll get your own balcony, too, and added extras like air-conditioning, satellite TVs and mini-fridges. Plus, if you’re away with children, there’s a range of spacious family-sized apartments on offer, too, complete with fully-fitted kitchenettes.
Outside, the pool area takes the spotlight. The main pool is a classic rectangular shape and there’s a poolside bar serving up drinks and light lunches, too. Plus, there’s a separate splash pool for the little ones and a clover-shaped quiet pool for the grown-ups. Elsewhere, meanwhile, there’s a Scandinavian-style sauna for the ultimate tranquillity fix.
On the food front, there’s plenty of choice. Pick and choose from three different restaurants serving up Chinese, Indian and Italian cuisine, not to mention the poolside barbecues. Or head for the stylish à la carte restaurant – it offers a mix of international cuisine and regional specialities on a pretty al fresco terrace.
All rooms have air-conditioning, cable TV with limited channels, phone, mini-fridge, shower, daily maid service, linen and towel change twice weekly, and balcony. Standard rooms have twin beds suitable for 2 people.
