Built around a small central courtyard, complete with a stone fountain, trailing vines and tiled walls, this Andalucian-style hotel is anything but run of the mill.
Step into the bedrooms, and you’ll see the designers have added some unique touches. They’ve kept things nice and simple with cream-coloured walls and berry red curtains, but they’ve really gone to town on the beds. Dressed in rich red linen and topped with elaborate carved headboards, they certainly take centre-stage. Add rustic bedside tables and chairs, and you’ve got a room that’s every bit as cosy as it sounds.
The restaurant is a bit different, too. Chunky country-style tables and chairs sit beneath a ceiling of dark wooden beams with a wrought-iron chandelier in the middle. Meanwhile, the shallow alcoves on the walls are draped in fisherman’s nets and dotted with replica starfish. Breakfast and dinner is served here, buffet style, so expect a good mix to suit all tastes.
As for things to do, the days here usually revolve around the pool. It’s a straightforward oval shape set into a terracotta-coloured terrace. What’s more, most weeks there’s a paella demonstration, so you can get to grips with making the local favourite. Evenings, meanwhile, are all about live music – there’s some most nights - and the weekly flamenco show.
Lastly, the location. The Hotel Villa Flamenca is just a five-minute walk downhill to Burriana beach, and the same amount of time to Nerja’s shops, bars and restaurants.
All rooms have air-conditioning or ceiling fans/heating and TV. Standard rooms have 2 or 3 beds, rooms with 2 beds have balcony, 3 bedded rooms have balcony or terrace. Double rooms available.
