If you are searching for peace and tranquillity, then you can’t do much better than Es Canutells, a quiet, tiny hamlet on a hilltop by the seashore. If you wish to get away from it all, here there is little traffic or crowds. Instead, you can spend hours exploring the nearby sandy beaches. Or if you hire a car in Es Canutells itself, then you can discover the delights of other parts of Menorca. In the warm, still waters of the bays and coves that are sheltered by the shallow cliffs you can lie back in the water and float your cares away. Catamarans and boats float serenely in the water, all gleaming in the endless sunshine. You can gorge yourself on wonderfully-prepared seafood in the beach bar of Es Canutells itself. If you do want to venture further afield, there are excellent restaurants in the village of San Climent and nearby Mahon. Walk or cycle leisurely among the quiet lanes and admire the beautiful villas that are half-hidden behind graceful palm and olive trees. There are also several opportunities to get into the saddle on the island, as there are many riding schools and you can then peek over all the walls of those fabulous villas as you trot along. A retreat from the world and its cares, you will find all the pleasures of a peaceful hideaway where time seems to stop and you can relax.
