Sri Lanka’s capital and biggest city is right next to the sea and is about as bustling as this mainly rural country gets. You can walk along streets where colonial buildings rub shoulders with modern high rises and Buddhist temples, buy a bargain in the busy bazaar of Pettah or chill out in Viharamahadevi Park where you’ll also find the National Museum.
