First of all we gave you Splash Hotels – our often-mimicked-never-matched collection of hotel-and-waterpark combos. But we weren’t happy to just sit back and relax, so we went in search of even more hotels with their own waterparks. During our travels we stumbled across four beauties – the Aguamar, Aqualandia, Aquatica™ and Siam Park – all of which rocked our socks.
“So why aren’t they in Splash?” we hear you ask. Well, we can’t feature them in Splash because the waterparks aren’t technically onsite. And that’s all. There’s nothing else to it. What’s more, the fun and shenanigans are still really close by – some are just a short ride away, while others are easily walkable.
Here’s a quick rundown on what you can expect. Every waterpark has all the usual suspects when it comes to rides. Obviously it depends on where you go, but you’re likely to face-off against Kamikazes, Black Holes and Twisters, to name just a few. That said, for those of you who’d rather avoid the heart-in-mouth drops, there’ll be things like lazy rivers and wave pools.
For more detail, simply check out the specific webpage, or pop into your local store and grab yourself a brochure.
Ibiza doesn't do things by halves. Neither does Aquamar. Cue the Spiral, Kamikaze and Black Hole. And that's just for starters.
The Aguamar waterpark is the biggest on the island with seven sets of slides. We're talking some no-holds-barred go-fasts as well, including
Kamikaze, Black Hole and Spiral, to name a few. And if you fancy yourself as some sort of aquatic Jensen Button, there’s a four lane racer for good measure. Whats more, if you’ve travelled with the kids, there are also plenty of smaller slides and paddling pools just for them. as for life back on dry land, lunch is served back at the hotel, or, if you’d rather, there’s also a very decent bar and cafeteria at the park.
For unlimited waterpark access to Aguamar, stay at Fiesta Club Don Toni Aguamar
Fancy your luck on a Kamikaze? Feel like taking on a Black Hole? Well here’s your chance. And the kids will love Adventureland too.
Aqualandia’s version of the ‘Big Bang’ is a series of slides that sets the tone for a ton of go-fasts, including the Kamikaze, Black Hole and Splash. Not that this place is all about heart-in-mouth drops & speed. You’ve also got more the calmer affairs like the Niagara pool and the gentle current of the Amazonas lazy river. Plus, if you’ve got little ones there’s Adventureland. It’s a huge, shallow pool full of sprays and mini slides that’ll have them beaming from ear to ear.
For unlimited waterpark access to Aqualandia, stay at Palm Bach Hotel
If size matters, Siam Park’s the place for you. Its one of Europe’s biggest waterparks, with the awesome Tower of Power, not to mention its very own beach. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy here, from the serene to extreme!
Siam Park is home to rides guaranteed to get your heart racing. The Tower of Power, for example, is a huge slide with an almost vertical drop. It sends you whizzing through a tunnel and past an aquarium filled with tropical fish and sharks. Or for those of you who fancy a race, limber up to the Naga Racer. For something completely different, Siam Park has its own beach. Tonnes of soft white sand was shipped in from the Algarve, so its just like the real deal. You’ll find the Wave Palace here, too. It produces the biggest artificial waves in the world, so its perfect for having ago at surfing.
For unlimited waterpark access to Siam Park, stay at Las Piramides Resort
You’ve got body slides, twisters, rapids, even friendly Commerson’s dolphins. And here you were thinking Florida was fun enough already.
When it comes to waterparks, Aquatica on I-Drive has the lot. Bursting with colour and with loads to explore, your little ones can enjoy things like beginners slopes, gentle body slides and water sprays. Elsewhere, you can relax on the Loggerhead Lane lazy river. This’ll take you on a leisurely raft ride past an underwater world of tropical fish. For more up-close encounters, take a ride on Dolphin Plunge®, where you’ll go speeding in and out of tunnels, before whizzing through a tube past a lagoon full of playful Commerson’s dolphins! And for the iPod generation, there are rides like Taumata Racer® – a high-speed mat ride where up to eight racers tear down a steep hill. Plus you’ve got slide towers, twisters and rapids – the whole shebang.
For unlimited waterpark access to Aquatica, stay at SpringHill Suites and the Fairfield Inn and Suites
