The Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa has a big pool just a stone’s throw from the beach. Kids get their own pool with a slide, too. You can pick from six dinner spots, including two à la carte restaurants and a buffet place. Drinks-wise, there are four bars. A couple of tennis courts take care of things for sporty types, and you can also try aerobics and yoga classes by the pool. The kids’ club runs daily competitions, and there’s a games room with ping pong, table football and air hockey. The spa offers facials and reflexology treatments, and there’s a beachfront massage table.

HEALTH & BEAUTY
This place has a state-of-the-art salon*, and a long menu of spa treatments* including facials, manis and pedis. Our favourite, though, is the beachfront massage* table just a few steps from the shore.

Only a handful of palm trees stand between the white-sand beach and the pool. It’s a big, lagoon-like number and comes with a thatched-roof bar that you can swim right up to.
Kids get a splash pool with a little flume spilling into the shallows, while grown-ups can grab a sunlounger on the water’s edge.
