We have just returned from 10 days here and can highly recommend it. The food is excellent everywhere. The 'no reservations' booking system is a winner too. Best place to eat is the Seaside Grill. Mexican and Asian both have good food but lack a little in atmosphere. Pools are clean and not too crowded. Beach also excellent if that's your preference - although take your insect repellant as the sand flies can be tedious in the seaweed during the day and everywhere at dusk. The gym was clean, good new state of the art kit and never crowded. All the bar staff were great all the time. We upgraded to 'preferred club' (100 US dollars a night if you haggle) which was well worth it. The water sports provision is the best I've experienced in 15 years of Caribbean holidays. The team as a whole are excellent but look out for Wilson - he's polite, very knowledgable and great to deal with. They're run by a guy called Rudi with a level of calm, business like efficiency which is admirable. I booked my 14 year old son and I onto the PADI Diving Course (via Wilson) with Juan Carlos Batista. Juan Carlos is a brilliant instructor, I can't recommend him or the experience highly enough. I was never hassled for time share but if I had one moan it's the entertainment team. We usually participate in all the side activities ie pool and beach volleyball, fitness classes etc but they just weren't empathetic or customer focussed enough. Can't put my finger on it. Last year we stayed at Dreams La Romana and would go back there in preference to Palm Beach. La Romana is a bigger hotel but in a much bigger plot with a better beach. It's a pain to have a longer transfer but well worth it in our view.More

Lovely resort. Lovely week away
I have literally just returned from a week here at Dreams Palm Beach. It was just my husband & I & we stayed in a Deluxe tropical view room which was lovely & comfortable but we were disappointed with the bathroom as it looked quite tired & only had a very basic shower which had very little pressure. Also no proper door to the toilet just a frosted screen. It was my 40th birthday so we decided to upgrade to the 'preferred' just so we could experience the whole hotel & not be restricted to certain areas. In my opinion I wouldn't recommend it unless the upgrade cost was minimal (e.g £100 or less for the week) I am gluten intolerant so eating is always a bit stressful for fear I will become ill. I have to praise the chef at the World Cafe who came to speak to me on our first evening. He pointed out everything I could eat & when I requested it he prepared me some gluten free pasta with a tomato sauce which I was incredibly grateful for! After that we generally ate at the themed restaurants as the menus state all dishes that are gluten free. I think it could definitely do with a bit more choice as in some restaurants there is literally one gluten free meal & if you're a gluten free vegetarian than you may find yourself in trouble! We ate at all the restaurants (French/Italian/The Seaside Grill & the Chinese twice which was our favourite) I would recommend all of these restaurants but avoid the Mexican!! The service was very poor & the food was badly presented & of a poor quality. We witnessed two separate tables just up & leave (apparently they got fed up of waiting to be served) We really loved the whole 'no booking' policy as it meant everybody had a fair chance of trying every restaurant. In fact we didn't wait once for a table. Every eveing we turned up around 7.15pm & we seated immediately (except for the Mexican where we waited nearly an hour!!!! Definitely no worth the wait!!!) The beach was beautiful. Yes there was seaweed but that's nature for you & the hotel could not possibly do anything more than they already do!! The sand is dazzling white & powdery soft. Heavenly!!!! As I mentioned previously, This was a treat for my 40th birthday. I told our tour operator at the time of booking & they confirmed that they had advised the hotel. I also emailed the hotel a couple of weeks prior to arrival to mention my gluten free diet & I also mentioned it was my birthday. However, I didn't receive a card/a balloon/a flower/a poke in the eye....etc.....basically they didn't acknowledge it at all which was a tad disappointing as when I travelled to Dubai for my 30th they sent me a gorgeous cake & flowers (I could eat cake back then!!!) Also Bahamas for my husband's 30th they were equally as attentive. We saw many banners on guests doors saying 'Happy anniversary' or 'Repeaters' for repeat guests so a 'Happy Birthday' banner would have been a fabulous touch.....but not as the case may be.....it gave me the impression that the hotel is quite 'cliquey'. This was also apparent from certain members of staff. In fact I watched cringing at one member of staff (whose name comes up a lot during reviews on this site) I swear if this guest had asked him to lick his shoes he would've got down on all fours & happily obliged. It was super embarrassing to say the least & struck me that some people will do anything for a tip!!!!! It's my husband's 40th next year & we're already toying with ideas of where to go but I think we'll probably stick to a smaller hotel as I think some hotel chains can lack the personal touch at times.More
By Far, The Best
I have traveled to the Dominican Republic 22 times within the past 8 years, and I have visited this resort 4 consecutive times within the last few years. Dreams Palm Beach Resort & Spa is a great family-oriented hotel, with a marvelous staff, who ensures that your wants and needs are met to the fullest extent possible. If you are planning on traveling here as a couple and want some relaxation away from children, the adult-only pool, which is for Preferred guests only, is the spot for tranquility. Moreover, every staff member, from upper management, to the Preferred Club, to the Entertainment staff, to all of the restaurant waiters, hostesses, chefs, and bartenders, and the janitorial staff, including those who maintain the cleanliness of the pools, are always there to greet you with a smile. EVERY staff member is plain wonderful. Their hard-work is given well over 100% effort, which is why this resort is so wonderful. I could not even provide a list of names of the people who have made every vacation better than the last, as every staff member I have had the pleasure of knowing, for years even, has made my vacation great. For dining, every restaurant is superb, and I recommend going beyond eating at the buffet every night, and treating your taste buds to some exquisite dishes. However, if you prefer to not wear slacks for a night, then the World Café offers a variety of style of buffets, which vary from night to night. So, be sure to bring a pair of slacks or two! After dinner, you can watch a show performed every night, or have some fun in the disco, located on the resort. Also, yes the beach had seaweed drift ashore, you cannot blame the hotel, as it's seaweed from the ocean. The resort hires a crew to clean up the seaweed that drifts daily, and their handwork does not go unnoticed. It's also great that the walking distance from the rooms to the beach, or from the beach to the front of the hotel, doesn't feel like a mile-long trek. Within five minutes, you can reach your destination inside of the hotel. I recommend this resort to any person, and I hope that if you stay here, you will fall in love, just as I did.More

This was our 6th time in Punta Cana and we have stayed at a different resort each time. This was by far the best experience. The accommodations are somewhat dated, but the rooms are clean and the beds were really comfortable. The complex is well laid out with two huge pools for regular package and two smaller pools (one adult only and one adult and children) for the "preferred club" guests. We paid a little extra for the "preferred club" status and we felt it was well worth it. No wristbands and no reservations for the a la carte restaurants. The food and the staff at the restaurants were excellente! Our Valentine's Day dinner at the French restaurant was fabulous, surf and turf, done to perfection. However, our favourite was the Chicken Parmesan and spaghetti at the Italian a la carte. The chef came out to visit our table and asked how our meal was, he's straight from Italy. The Sea Side Grill was where we had breakfast and lunch , food and staff were fabulous. We had dinner there one night and I enjoyed the herb crusted Norwegian salmon with dill sauce, I can still taste it. All of the staff at the grill were great, and we want to thank Amaury Ramirez for making our meals just that much more special. He was attentive to all of our needs and always asked if he could do more. Another notable was Felix Penass, hope I spelled the last name correctly. He was always friendly and greeted us with a smile when we saw him. All of the staff should be commended for the outstanding job they do every day to ensure the visitors feel welcome and special, they are the best we have ever had anywhere in the world. The beach is the soft white sand, easy to walk in and always cool on your feet. There is more seaweed at this end of the island, however the staff are out every day to sweep it up. Definitely, kid friendly. We didn't take any children with us but they always seemed to be on the go in the "Explorer Kids" club. Thank you for a great vacation, we will be back. And thanks to the fabulous desserts and dirty monkey's (a delicious beverage), I now have to diet. We would definitely recommend this resort and it's about 30 minutes from the airport, bonus!More

Okay but there's better paradise
Visited punta Cana and stayed at dreams Palm resort. Moment we arrived we were constantly approached for time share! Come on we weren't suppose to be there to buy time share its our time leave us alone. Bar people weren't too happy serving. Room was okay view was okay, food was same each day I guess hated Mexican place. Lady name Indira was great at check in. Wouldn't return at this place to be bothered for time share.More
