Great time at Barcelo Thalasso Spa

Just got back from a 2 week all inclusive stay at Barcelo Thalasso Spa , room was excellent , huge bed , very clean with daily changes of towels and regular sheet changes. Pool area excellent with plenty of sun beds , although hotel ask for no reserving of sun beds it does go on but you will get a bed , just maybe not where you want it , I suggest that they start sticking to the rules written by pool. Plenty of choices of good food available at all sittings , staff very efficient and polite , waiters a credit to hotel.Excellent location with beach at rear of hotel. We stayed in room 1243 which was close to local bars and clubs , absolutely no noise issue though. If i had to be negative at all then i would advise Barcelo to review Health & Safety procedures , work carried out by pool while people sunbathing , this led to accident when a ladder struck guest on head, overall i would recommend hotel , great , thanks Barcelo.More

Fantastic place ... a few troubles with reception staff though!

The hotel is a convenient 15 minute transfer from the airport in the purpose built resort of Caleta de Fuste. The hotel was amazingly clean and well kept and our first impressions were good. The location is great; right next to a beautiful beach and a small street of touristy shops and a supermarket. Note the WiFi didn't really work for me - apparently it's only available in the lobby but even then I didn't manage to get onto it! We arrived at around 12 noon and were told our rooms would not be ready until 14:00 - fair enough. We were a little upset as there was no mention of this from our travel agent (a problem we will be highlighting with them), but we were quite happy sitting in the sun and using the facilities in the meantime! However, 14:00 came and we were told our room wasn't ready. We returned to our sunbeds and gave it another hour ... returning at 15:00 we were told we still had to wait a little while longer. At this point other guests were really getting angry - lots of shouting etc. and the Reception staff were really slow to respond and generally unapologetic. Be prepared for this wait if arriving before 15:00! When we were eventually given our room, we discovered it was a double when we had specifically booked a twin. We returned again to Reception where we joined the long queue for the third time that day and raised the issue - unfortunately the staff said I had not booked a twin therefore they couldn't do anything about it. I had to produce evidence of our twin-booking before they begrudgingly changed the room. We eventually got to our room at 1600 - not the best start to our holiday! The room itself was clean and spacious. Black out blinds, comfy beds, a fridge and good air conditioning. No complaints at all. We had a sea/pool view which was lovely. Our room was in 'Area 3' which was a little way from the restaurant, bars, entertainment etc. however, we were quite happy with this as it was nice and quiet during our stay. The rooms were cleaned daily and all the cleaning staff we encountered were so lovely. There were plenty of sunbeds by the pools which was good. The pools were spotlessly clean - one heated and one not. The poolside entertainment was great - and there were quieter areas of the resort to sit in if that's not your kind of thing! I'd read quite a lot of the reviews which suggest the food was perhaps not a highlight of the holiday, but I think I disagree. Yes - the food available at the snack bar (11-5) was a little tedious (chips, burgers, sausages etc.) but this is only meant to supplement the breakfast, lunch and dinner available in the main restaurant. The food available in the restaurant was great. Not quite 5* dining, but really good tasty food and a great selection. The grill at the far end of the restaurant was great - serving up freshly cooked meat and fish as you waited. Staff were attentive and polite. Drinks were served/plates and dishes taken away quickly. One positive was that, unlike other All Inclusive resorts I've stayed at before, drinks were 'real' brands i.e. Coca Cola, Sprite. We did have some further trouble from the Reception staff when we returned our safe key. We had paid for the safe rental and were expecting a 5 euro deposit back, but when we returned the key we were told it wasn't for our safe - they had no record of us staying in the room we had been moved to. They said they couldn't give us the deposit back without any proof that we were moved to the room! Although only 5 euros, we didn't back down ... unfortunately the Receptionist literally threw the 5 euro note at my Mum! Overall, it really was a fab holiday, minus our minor difficulties checking in and re the safe - I don't want them to detract from what is a really positive review. I'd definitely go back again and would recommend it for anyone wanting an easy holiday in the sun. Maybe next time the Reception may be a little better organised and then it will be an absolutely perfect holiday!More

Hannah C,

Fabulous holiday... Perfect for couples, ok for families

We visited Barcelo fuerventura for a week from 6th June 2015. Overall we had a fab holiday myself partner and our 3year old. Amazing hotel, completely spotless although I have to say is more based towards couples/ older generation. Check in, Was rather slow and seem to take forever in a very hot reception. We finally got checked in but it was rushed as dinner was nearly finishing. Weren't told where our rooms were or given map of hotel so had to go back after a rushed dinner. Rooms, Amazing size... Beds are huge and comfy. Our daughter slept on the pull out sofa which was big and as comfortable. Did worry about room being small for 3 of us but there was plenty of space. Only downside was our toilet smelt of urine really badly, like it was coming from the drains or something as although the cleaners came in daily it never went away. Food, Good was very good quality. We love the pool bar, food was great in there and was nice to be away from the restaurant at lunch. Restaurant can get very busy, and although there was lots of choice it was often repetitive. Drinks were lovely, best cocktails I've ever had at a hotel. Pools and entertainment. The pools were a good size and we never struggled to get the same sunbeds even after 10am! The pools were FREEZING tho! We went to the kids entertainment once but it was all in Spanish and my little one was really bored so we didn't bother again. I feel the whole hotel is perfect for couples and although they do completely welcome children it isant one of their top focuses. Weather, So we have never been to fuerventura before but we're not impressed with the weather 😔 it was overcast most days until 12ish and remained partly cloudy every day. Just not what we are used to. Location, Amazing... On the beach which is fab and most of the time fairly empty! There are a few bits to explore around the hotel turn both left and right out the front of the hotel to find various shopping areas. Also there was market on Saturdays and Tuesday's... Full of fakes but they weren't bad ☺️And plenty of tacky pressies! Overall we had a lovely holiday and would book with Barcelo again but maybe not fuerventura again.More

Great Hotel

Great Hotel + location within easy walking distance to harbour + nice bars we normally stay all inclusive that has at least 4 restaurants so a little apprehensive that this hotel only has one however i have to say the food was excellent probably the best we have ever had.down side you have to pay 2 euros for fresh beach towels which is unusual also there is a dress code for lunch which we have never experienced before which we found unacceptableMore

wonderful holiday

what a wonderful hotel, staff, location and excellent food daily, made a great holiday with some winter sunshine to boost you up. On arrival at the hotel we were showed to our room, which was clean bright and with a great sunny balcony. A bottle of bubbly, strawberries and chocolates were delivered to our room for our anniversary, which was a lovely touch. The food was amazing every meal was different, and of a very high quality, we will be returning.More
