Great value and lots of fun..we had a blast !
Our family of 5 (3 kids 12, 11 & 9) have just returned from a fantastic week at Magic Life. We booked the week away as a last minute decision and chanced in this hotel having traveled through the Thomson pages on the intranet. We wanted all inclusive, somewhere sunny but not too far away and at a reasonable price. Magic Life ticked all these boxes and much more. In fact we enjoyed ourselves much more here than our summer holiday at the hugely more expensive Martinhal. What we liked:- - the resort is low rise and, whilst large, is easily navigated. The grounds are kept immaculately clean. - we had 2 adjoining family rooms in block 20. Only a partial sea view but the rooms were large and clean. Air conditioning did a good job, if a bit noisy. - pool scene was great. We spent our days around the activity pool and the entertainment team did a good job of involving people in activities around the pool. Aqua gymnastics (Bulgarian instructor was excellent and even managed to run a class without music due to a wedding taking place in grounds) and Aqua Zumba (Georgia who was also very good) started our days. - finding a deck chair was never an issue and there is shade (although these are taken more quickly). - the fitness activities (range of classes / quality of instructors) was better than anywhere I have ever been. I went to advanced Spin every day with Sandra. She varied the routine and the experience of working out hard whilst taking in the beautiful view over the sea from the open air studio will live with me. If you like your fitness and cycling (guided road / mountain bike tours) this is the place to go. All for no additional cost! - the beach is stunning. Yes there are steps and a scattering of naturists but golden sand and turquoise sea. - the food was plentiful, varied and of a good standard. Again, we have been to 5* resorts and we struggled to see the difference. There is food and drink available somewhere in the resort all day. - we loved the entertainment. The shows in the theatre were fine - not the West End but good fun and the team clearly put a lot of effort into them. Myself and my wife had a blast dancing in the Plaza Bar with different themes each night - we've not had that much fun in years. Crowd friendly and good natured. Things that could be better:- - please have cold milk available in the restaurant next to the tea & coffee. As there are large numbers of British visitors it is hard to understand why milk is not readily available - we had the daily trauma of trying to find a waiter to find the milk. - whilst kept very clean, a bit of money is needed on renovations / maintenance. The hand rail for our bath was loose, missing tiles in the swimming pool, paint here and there. Only minor issues though. - the hotel should vet some of the lyrics on the songs played by Magic Radio - several unedited songs with lyrics not suitable for a family hotel. Overall we had a great time. This is a friendly resort with lots for everyone and a young entertainment team who work hard for their guests enjoyment. The fitness is great - range / quality of classes / location & view. I'm pretty sure we'll be back next year.More
Observations from a happy holidaymaker - October 2016
After reading numerous reviews before booking (thanks TripAdvisor members!) and working out what we wanted from this holiday we chose to spend our two weeks holiday at TUI Magic Life Fuerteventura. Certainly we were not disappointed. Our mission was total rest and relaxation. Objective achieved. But we could see many other people also enjoying their more active holiday as plenty of sports and entertainments options on offer. Food â great quality, loads of choice. Pool Bar our least favourite but great if you canât be bothered moving too far from your sunbed. We preferred something a bit more interesting/wholesome than a sandwich, fries or hotdog so often had lunch at 2pm at the smaller buffet restaurant that does salads, fresh pizzas and a couple of meat/fish dishes and you can sit outside around the Plaza bar area. But you can have a choice of everything if you want to use the main restaurant and that opens from 12.30pm. Evenings we enjoyed a mixed balance of the special restaurants, main restaurant and also ventured out a few times to the nearby beach bar and into Morro Jable (to mix things up a bit). When using the main buffet just spend some time walking around and building a meal plan in your mind. Try something that you wouldnât normally try, if you donât like it, no problem. (Iâve no time for picky eaters! Get over it or stay home and eat McDonalds if thatâs your thing) Drinks â the wine was drinkable, the beer was cold and refreshing and plenty of spirits to choose from. All good measures on the spirits. Lovely coffee at the Wunderbar. Water by the bottle as you needed it. Hotel cleanliness â top marks here. What a team they have, constantly cleaning, mopping, doing maintenance. Very impressed with all areas of hotel on this. Bedroom also kept refreshed daily, towels changed if you left them in the bath. Sheets changed about every 3 days. Evenings â lively around the Plaza Bar from 10.30pm. Take a cardigan though as did get chilly in the evening as youâre sat outside. One negative comment from us however was how kids were allowed to run around and around until quite late. Saw a few near misses of kids running into the waiters, often with trays piled high with glasses. No obvious sign of any parents trying to stop them! The number of kids actually put us off the Plaza bar. Speaking to others, plenty felt the same. For this we preferred the Wunderbar â much more relaxing in the evenings. Mobility â husband has knee problems but found the access to the beach through the private villas to be fine (also, great to use that route if tide is in). We found we could mostly get around the hotel with using only a few steps (we took longer walking routes to avoid steps). One thing I would suggest to the hotel is to put handrails on the steps, certainly on the upper terrace (above block 14) and round the pool bar. Something as small as a hand rail can make a difference to someone a bit unsteady on their feet. Staff â everyone was more than polite, friendly and efficient from the TUI rep to front desk to cleaners and all hotel/bar staff. What a great team this hotel has in place. Beach â gorgeous, white sand, you can walk for miles or find a favourite spot and pass a good few hours. Turquoise see. Really lovely. Location â easy walk to the Caretta Beach bar to left on the beach. Otherwise, you need to allow â¬20 for a return taxi trip to Jandia or Morro Jable. We knew this from my research so expected to pay out a few times to get us off site on a couple of days. Trips â we did the Flavours of Fuerteventura with Thomson. â¬69 per person including lunch. A whole day, got driven around the island on some hairy mountain roads with sheer drops, got to sample local produce. A good trip if you want to see something of the island. This is done in 8 seater minibuses, rather than the cheaper option of Fuerteventura discovered which is only about â¬51 and you are on a coach. Weather â of course this is outside the hotelâs control but we had an excellent 2 weeks, hitting 30 degrees for nearly a week (3rd week in October). Rained a couple of times but only once during a morning that lasted about an hour and stopped normal pool activities. Happy to recommend this hotel. Could probably write loads more feel free to ask and if you do decide to book, hope you have a wonderful time.More
Fantastic quality hotel with the most excellent food...even with a food gluten intolerence.
I travelled here with Thomson the 17th September 2016 for a week. I totally recommend this venue for worth of money paid. The journey by coach was a hard one getting off the plane at 8pm and arriving at the hotel 2 hours later, take you about an hour to get there as the hotel is the south of the island, check in quite quick but i urge you to either get a drink at the bar or the free bottled water fridges that are everwhere before you crash in your room as the fridge hadn't been stocked when we got there (you have to request this option). The hotel is very clean and easy to find your way around when familiar. For some strange reason we had a funny smell coming from the bathroom the first day, seemed the drainage was a bit blocked and after a couple of showers it was gone...but the staff should have been aware of this before we moved in. The rooms are quite large with an lcd tv screen with an easy hdmi/usb port in the wall to connect the laptop too (which i do), We stayed in block 20, 110 room, this room only has a very limited side sea view and garden view (but we didnt pay for any extras on this trip). The bathroom is adequate although the shower was just ok, but the bath towels are tiny!! And really think that needs to be changed. The air con is great (a little noisy on full blast) and with 2 cards for the room you can leave it on if you wish when youre out. The hotel grounds are kept in very good condition and clean. This hotel has a mix of german, english and a few french people who just want to chill and people who want a gym like activity holiday which it provides very well for both, with the gym being just enough for a bodybuiling workout, to the very frequent amount of workout classes for the keep fit enthusiasts all free apart from the spa area which i didnt go to. The food...well really good compliments from me all round. I do have a gluten intolerence and all food is labelled with all the allergies contained within them I find this very appreciated as other people will too. The gluten free area is not big but you can get your bread, biscuits and a few cakes there which is the same everyday, but this didnt stop me i watched the labels and proceeded to sample maybe 70% of the large buffet area, which i have to say during all the trip, i did not have one bad stomach while there (something i normally do!). The buffet area does have themed nights but not strictly to them, and has a very large selection to choose from, so much so i did not use the other restaurants at all. The food is all cooked properly and i have to say the meats, well..they are big portions... from sirloin steaks, fillet steaks, massive pork steaks and too much to put down they do not hold back there...so value for money all inclusive... absolutely!! The soft drinks are always available breakfast, dinner, tea. At night a bottle of wine on your table you can do as you wish (take back to your room whatever) this is the same as your food, you can take whatever you want as leave with it. This place is really all inclusive and they mean it, there is also bottled water everywhere (in little and big bottles) in the fridges stationed around and you take as you please, little things like this make this hotel welcoming and a feeling you paid for all inclusive, well you got it. At the pool area bar opens around 9am, soft drinks are in dispensers and can be self serve too, only downside to the drinks here is the cocktails, not so good....sex on the beach and pina coladas, very watery, not really creamy and it did disappoint slightly and surprised me seeing as the food was good, I think this needs looking into.... It can be quite windy, but still hot in september, as the hotel is perched on a little cliff side so towel pegs are a total must!! The beach is down some very steep steps and recommend trainers going there, a nice walk for miles down to morro jable apart from the 20% which are naked oldies walking along the beach..yak.. something i think should be totally seperated from the public especially with children around... Evening entertainment is good, they are an animation team and do nearly all the nights shows there, a mixture of copycat routines to some quite good street and contemporary dancing, some youll see, some youll maybe miss, but the effort is there. Hometime came and although we left at evening the suitcases were stored in a room for later during the whole day and they happily let you use the spa changing rooms to get a shower and change after sunbathing for the day waiting for the coach time, which with all my holidays is a thing some hotels overlook...so this was appreciated too. I absolutely recommend this hotel for the price we paid for all inclusive (around £1500 with Thomson), for me it was a eat and chill holiday and it provided for both.More
I can honestly say this hotel is by far the best place we have been, all the staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is to much for any of them. we came for our honeymoon and my 40th birthday and everything about our holiday was amazing, I must give a extra special shout out for the entertainment team they were fantastic and in all honesty made our holiday especially Tony, nils and Martin absolutely amazing people More
Lovely hotel, rooms were nice although bed weren't the most comfortable, air on a bit temperamental, buffet food of a good quality, restaurants were also good. The best thing though the Thompson staff were great! Micky, Toni and Sandra especially need a mention, they were great fun and we would go back just to see them!More
