We stayed for one week 21-28 September. Good flight from Stansted but awful arrival at 2am. There was no all night drinks bar as some hotels provide so we went to our room hungry and thirsty, having just a bottle of water in the room. We did not know the dates arranged for the building works, not aware that the Hotel was closing down 30th September and felt alarmed when numbers dwindled rapidly as people flew out and nobody flew in, usually the resorts stay open til the end of October. We, in common with other people, got a tummy bug while there. Sarah the rep was very helpful. We hired a car for one day to drive around the island and discovered beautiful places, but the little car stunk of petrol fumes which was unpleasant. Rhodes old town is gorgeous and Lindos old town. We used the local buses and taxis and intend to re-visit. The new Hotel when works have been completed looks beautiful on the illustration. We thought the food was fine, the food choice on all-inclusive holidays often is restricted, ie the same every day. It must be hard for the staff to keep functioning when the numbers changed so rapidly, they did very well. The en-suites to the rooms are the shabby areas but bars still stylish in the main, a few outdated things. The entertainment was excellent, the young singers and dancers very talented. The choreographer to be specially praised. Good luck to all the people that will work next year from June to make the new resort fabulous.More

Not terrible but I would not return!
The hotel is located on a beautiful strip of beach and that ,I would say,is its only saving grace. The views from most of the sea facing or side facing rooms are lovely, our room was nice enough with a comfortable bed. Having said this, the shower cubicle was the smallest I have ever seen,it was impossible to shower without the curtain sticking around you and thus flooding the bathroom. The view as I said was fab but the balcony wall was a solid concrete that came at about 1.1m so you could only see the view standing, once seated at the balcony table, you know, morning coffee with a view, was entirely obscured from you. The grounds were all run down, the hotel was to start a major makeover in the following weeks so everywhere was an air of ...we`re closing soon so we have to do with what`s there. Which brings me to the food. It was very bad, indistinct, like each dish was constructed on the same recipes but alternating some ingredients. And those ingredients were the cheapest available. Powdered eggs of a horrible green/gray color, cheapest cuts of meats, few pancakes in the morning, only if you came in early, the rest got a sad version of french toast that just seen the egg batter for a second. Few ,numbered really boiled eggs and the enigmatic fried eggs that everybody was talking about as if they were only an urban legend made their very rare appearance for breakfast. Powdered mash and same soggy vegetables for every dinner, dried sandwiches and chips for lunch, only saving was the Pizza buffet, that was freshly made and delicious and the Barbecue lunch buffet that although samey it was nice enough. The lack of vision and organization was clear on one rainy day when people had no place to hide except for their rooms, no extra space was open anywhere to accommodate the guests, the outside terraces were all covered with a type of rain penetrating rattan or willow,so were a no go. The buses were over busy by the people trying to escape the melee. The staff was tired and disengaged but civil.I can imagine the place being closed soon will affect their paycheck and we could all feel their lack of hearth. And only to mention the internet, offered only on payed bundles at a ridiculous price when other hotels around had it free for guests. All in all whether I recommend it or not, which I don`t anyway, next time the place opens it will be a different hotel entirely and maybe the management counted on that regarding our reviews. I will, however,be quite wary of the entire brand Louis Hotels wherever they would be ,the attitude of them charging a full price and not too cheap I`ll tell you,for the closing down service and facilities will forever taint the entire brand, thank you very much !More
Never ever a 4 star, more like a hostel.
Great location, pool and outdoor area great. Check in was good but the room, OMG, I could have cried. It was more like a Hostel than a Hotel, the double room was 2 single broken beds pushed together that we had to repair ourselves as the wooden slats kept falling out when you moved during the night and we're normal sized people. They were so uncomfortable that my neck and back ached towards the end of the week. The beds creaked when you turned over in the night and the linen made us very itchy. The bathroom was old and a bit mouldy but the shower was powerful enough. However, the grating in the floor allowed the water to flood the bathroom every time you showered and the room was damp and smelly due to this. The air conditioning did work so we were one of the lucky ones. The safe in the room was an additional cost of nearly 4 euros per day but was necessary to lock away passports etc.... The stench in the corridors was gut wrenching, it smelled like rotting carcasses and raw sewage. As an all inclusive package, the food could have been better. It was kept warm with hot water in trays underneath but there was a microwave if you wanted to reheat it. The wifi cost 5 euros per hour but was so slow that the hour actually ended within 10 minutes of it constantly seeking a signal. We stayed outside as long as possible. The staff on the whole were nice and friendly but seemed downtrodden and it was as if they knew the hotel was in a bad way and they were fed up with the complaints. The drinks were diluted, in fact the only thing not diluted on this holiday was the price. This hotel is definitely NOT a 4 star. It's more of a 2 star. I hope the refurbishment turns it around and staff morale can be boosted in order for customers to enjoy it. It's in a prime location with beautiful surroundings and could be so much better. The sea view from the balcony was only a sea view if you were over 5'6" tall and stood up. The concrete balcony was cracked and you dare not lean on it for fear of it collapsing. Some were already taken down and replaced with glass on higher floors which looked a bit freaky. The lifts were only big enough for 6 people at a time so it took ages to get to the higher floors. The stairs were dirty and had the same beer cups and rubbish in them the whole week we were there. The room cleaning staff had a lot of work to do and there were very few of them but they always had a smile and hello for you. The General Manager had a couldn't care less attitude so what do you expect from staff. However, 50% of them were very helpful and had a difficult job to do with the complaints. The advertised photos of the hotel must have been taken when it was first built. A bit like a human ( take a photo in your prime you look great but we all deteriorate but have a bit of denial). The hotel looked more like a Second World War institution than a 4 star hotel. However, the outdoor area and scenery were as wonderful as the weather and it's a beautiful island. The other hotels within the vicinity look amazing too, it's only this one that looks like the Addams Family home. We paid £1,1400 for a week and this was supposed to be a last minute discounted rate so I dread to think what other people paid. I hope the refurbishment goes to plan and the staff can go back to a happy workplace with happy holidaymakers. More
Never a 4 star!
What a shoddy place. Thomsons should be embarrassed marketing this as a 4 star. Unfortunately we appeared to be in the minority of mugs who paid 4 star prices. We were reasonably confident booking (less than a week before departure) as we have previously stayed in an immaculate Louis hotel in Corfu a couple of years ago. We have stayed in some pretty basic Greek accommodation in the past but paid the appropriate prices and been under no illusions about the standard to expect ( and often pleasantly surprised ). A review is academic now as the place will apparently be unrecognisable next year. I'm not surprised it will have a new name. The room was shoddy, carpet so worn by the balcony door that the carpet gripper spikes were poking through, balcony door really difficult to prise open, dare not take the shower hose off the holder as the fixing fell apart, ancient bathroom taps, fittings etc, beds comfortable but nasty stains on the edge of the base. Lots of other signs of neglect. Shame as the hotel is in a good position with its own section of beach. Food was ok, evening meal the least enjoyable . Staff were ok on the whole but with a definite air of people finishing work at the end of the week. Over all very disappointing - salvaged only by a week of fantastic weather and good company.More
A DISGRACE, THE WORST HOTEL EVER
This was advertised and sold to us as a 4 star hotel by Monarch amongst other holiday companies. The hotel we found out when we had arrived and discussed the dreadful standard with the hotel staff was that it was closing down at the end of our weeks holiday! Everything about this hotel was wrong, tatty, dirty, old, broken, fixtures and fittings poorly made good, the grounds outside had pathways with trip hazards, the lawns and borders and trees in the grounds were uncultivated and dying. The facilities in the rooms were none existent, the beds were like sleeping on a park bench they were so hard, the bathrooms were ancient and our toilet wasn't cleaned during our weeks stay and a drain by the shower and toilet was covered in hairs as we arrived and was not cleaned during our stay. Our upgraded room was right in front of the service elevators so we were kept wake all night and the cleaning staff congregated outside our room from early in the morning also disturbing us. Our sea view room was obscured by balcony door with a fail seal so it looked foggy and allowed the heat of the sun in and noise from outside too. No water was even provided we had to pay for this, the restaurants advertised weren't as sold, the standard of the food was disgusting, the food was often cold and the solution the staff provided was a microwave. Several guests were sick in the latter days and the bar staff said we had not been sick because we hadn't eaten at the hotel. We went all inclusive but had to eat elsewhere we couldn't risk eating what was on offer. The hotel was running with a few staff so they could not be blamed so we found there was no service at all provided to us during our stay. How this hotel has been allowed to be advertised by the major holiday companies as a 4 star is beyond all comprehension and how the Louis Colossus Hotel chain can offer up such a poor standard for people to have to endure under their name is a disgrace to their name. We spoke to several other guests during our stay from other countries who also agreed with our opinion and one couple we met from Prague even moved out and found another hotel so upset with the Louis Colossus they were. We will never ever stay in a hotel connected to the name Louis Colossus again.More
