Fantastic holiday

Went here in August this year and had a truly brilliant holiday. The hotel is right on the beach, where there is water activities available, paragliding, banana boat etc, the sea was so warm and clear. Can also go on boat ride from the beach, literally get picked up 1 min walk from hotel, we went on Captain George and his wife Caterina's boat which was brilliant, provide snorkling gear for the cave and bay, well worth the money. The food was plentiful and there was always a good choice, lunchtime was fabulous could choose between BBQ section, stone baked pizza and Chinese, but wasn't limited to this, just too much to mention. All inclusive drinks and you wasn't limited to 2 drinks a time which was good. Plenty of activities going on if your into that. Weather was hot but as long as you pick the right spot for sunbathing there was a lovely breeze. Bus top right t front of hotel which takes you to Rhodes town and Falaraki for reasonable price but found a taxi was just as cheap if a few of you are travelling together.More

Lesley-Leyland,

Another truely Fantastic holidayll

We Have just returned from another fantastic 2weeks holiday at the Louis Colossos Beach Hotel for the 6th year running and it just keeps getting better and better . The moment we stepped into the hotel the magic began we are greeted with such genuine warmth and affection from all of the wonderful reception staff .They have such a wide range of local knowledge and patience in dealing with all of your needs , and nothing is ever to much trouble for them . Thank you Elena for the special hugs and kisses we received .on our arrival What an absolutely lovely way to start our holiday , oh yes we were home again for the next two weeks . The hotel is situated in a prime position with a bus stop and a taxi rank right outside , ideal for sight seeing or just going shopping . Rhodes is such a beautiful island so take time to take a trip especially into Lindos and Rodos both are steeped in history and are buzzing both in the daytime and at night , when the harbour of Rodos is lite up , so beautiful, and well worth a visit After unpacking we went to the terrace bar near the shop and reception area to have a lovely cup of tea and some freshly baked yummy cakes ,pastry's or biscuits , served every after-noon ,(sandwiches are also served late in the evening if you are still feeling a bit hungry )we sat on the balcony over looking the sea and relaxd after our journey ,Bliss As always the food was excellent ,varied and with so many choices . Breakfast had cereals ,fruit, yoghurt , honey and jams , full English , cold meats ,cheese , and freshly baked bread or toast . Lunch consisted of delicious mouthwatering BBQ served at the beach resturant , or go to the main area where you could sample the tasty Chinese cuisine , the very best freshly baked pizza ever , or enjoy a full lunch , all cooked and presented beautifully . The evening meal is served in two dining halls or you can enjoy your meal sitting outside , (we prefered the smaller of the two dining halls as it was less crowded and cooler ). The staff greeted us every meal time with a broad smile and a welcome which makes you feel very special .and a lovely way to begin your meal, which consisted of a wide variety of dishes to suit your pallet from freshly carved meats , fish (which I had most days )'done so many different ways and really delicious , spaghetti bolognese , salads ,chicken, pork , fresh fruit and a selection of cheeses all presented perfectly and very tasty . The staff work extremly hard to replenish all the dishes ,clear tables and answer to all your needs in a quite efficient way so that you are not disturbed and can enjoy your meal in a peaceful atmosphere and it is all done with a smile . Thank you Petros for all your thoughtfulness and kindness. The animation team work very hard organising activities for your enjoyment both for adults and children .In the evening they put on a really good show after firstly entertaining the children , which is loved by the children . This year for the first time ever I joined in the water aerobics (I have always been afraid to participate before as I am a none swimmer ) so for all you none swimmers give it a go I did and had a brilliant fun filled time ,made new friends and kept fit . Thank you June for encouraging me . There is a well equipped gym with a jacuzzi and spa , and the best masseur ever, called Freddy . You have to book for a massage either with reception or directly with Freddy , wow believe me it is so worth it . I was the luckiest lady ever to have been given the opportunity to experiance this wonderful gift of a massage . Where ever you go in the hotel you will bump into the manager Georgie who never seems to sleep he is always there morning noon and night with a helping hand to efficiently and quietly sort out any problems or concerns you may have or just to have a laugh and joke with you . George you are brilliant and an asset to the Louis with all your kindness . We spent all our evenings in the central bar where we laughed with old and new friends dancing and singing to the fantastic music of the piano player . Thank you to the bar staff for their patience when we re- arranged the seating to accommodate all our friends . Thank you to the maids who kept our room spotlessly clean throughout our stay , and for all their hard work and smiles , for letting me practice my Greek greetings on them and laughing with me when I got it wrong . Heart felt Thank you to Androula and all the special reception staff who always amaze us with their kindness , you are the very best ever. Thank you Violet and Irini for my cuddles Last but not least a big heartfelt thank you to George you are a very special person who puts every body's needs first . You are truely a man in a million . Cannot wait to return again next year . Sooo if you want the best staff the best food at the best hotel come and join us next year . Carole and Ken Room 488More

Don't bother.

It is stuck in a time warp right down to the 1980's arcade and pinball machines and the hotel clearly hasn't had a lick of paint or much in the way of maintenance over the past 30 years. The rooms have useless rickety air con units the size of a small car. Bathroom minging. The whole hotel, including the rooms, is covered in smelly dirty carpets that have probably been there since before the Falklands War. The place is falling to bits and is in need of a complete refurbishment. Forget trying to get a sunbed around the pool as most of these were permanently reserved 24 hours a day and the hotel did nothing about it. If you did want one of the few remaining beds your only option was to be up at 5am. Instead we had to pitch up in the scrubland that passes for the hotel grounds. Only 3 lifts to service 700 rooms is totally inadequate, so much so I would often walk up to our room on the top floor rather than get into a wrestling match with more rude, ignorant Russian. My wife was regularly barged out of the way by these animals when trying to manoeuvre our 10 month old daughter into the lift in her pushchair. Unbelievable. Lifts also regularly broke down which is symptomatic of the general lack of care or maintenance. Food was alright but very repetitive, especially after 2 weeks of Pizza and Spag Bol - though the Pizza's were pretty good to be fair. I found the restaurant staff very friendly and helpful, though it is very busy and it is the same old story trying to wrestle with the eastern European guests intent on elbowing you out of the way. Outside bar staff, rude and surely, especially the blonde girl who clearly hates every minute of her job and isn't afraid to let it show. The entertainment was a complete farce. It was so bad it was actually quite entertaining, for the first week anyway. Not really family friendly though, quite needlessly crude at times. My particular favourite was the tone deaf guy in the upstairs bar endlessly banging away at his keyboard and murdering song and after, seemingly oblivious to the fact that he can't sing. No free bottled water, which normally comes as standard in other all inclusive hotels. Drinks are a standard all inclusive affair, i.e. not very good. I could go on an on. There were some positives - the pools and nice and the location is fantastic. The beach is a real bonus and spent a lot of time down there, unfortunately the hotel sees fit to charge for a sunbeds on the beach. Despite all the many negatives the hotel isn't terrible, but it was sold by Thomson and 4* and it just isn't. I would advise anyone thinking of staying here not to bother.More

POOR - Read the Bad reviews carefully.

Please read as many of the reviews as possible. I find it highly suspicious that many reviews state the poor quality of the rooms, damp, noise, power cuts and give a Bad review or rating and yet others write it was the best holiday they had and give a five star rating. A lot of the bad or poor reviews list many of the same problems so look for and read them very carefully. This is what you will be receiving for your money. We were lead to believe this was a four star hotel. It is NOT a FOUR STAR hotel. Things we experienced while there for ten days in late August early September were.... The first night they gave us the wrong room. Although the laundry was changed every day it smelt of damp. Other reviews also note this and some posted pictures. The airconditioning was very loud and so you either had to turn it off to sleep or not sleep with it on. The food was a poor version of Harvester. There is a microwave in the dinning area to "reheat" your food when it's just served to you. There was also a greasy smell constantly in the eating area. Although most staff were very polite and helpful, you could tell some were very fed up and tired of some of the complaints customers were making. Our rep constantly asked if we were ok but we never heard from him when we did complain about an issue. It was as if he was automatically scripted to appear helpful or concerned yet when we did raise concerns, there was little or no action and no responce. We nearly missed our flight because he wrote down the wrong time for our bus from the hotel to the airport. When we realised there was a problem other members of staff called him and he told them to tell us to get a cab and claim it back later. Easy to say...but when your're disabled, dont speak greek and there are no cash machines around and you have 35 minutes to get to the airport from the hotel before the gate closes..it's a different story. He really had a "can't be bothered" attitude. Other staff were polite and very helpful. The Hotel is old. It needs updating from the seventies style it potrays. You had to wait a long time for the lift which were very small and when a power cut happened you could use the stairs but this caused problems for those who were old or disabled. We felt we were mislead by Thomson Holidays. This was clearly not a four star hotel and not worth the money we paid for it. On the flight there and back it was cold and when we asked for a blanket we were told they didn't have any. Overall, a very disappointing waste of our time and money. We wouldn't trust Thomson Holidays again. If you experience any problems, always take photographs, right a review and make a complaint.More

Truly all inclusive

4 adults aged 44-62 wanted a stress free week where we didnt have to spend a fortune on tip of the holiday cost. Wow we found it! First 4 days we didnt leave the hotel because we didnt need to. Two adults pools and a small kids one, 4 food outlets offering a vast selection, all of which was good quality, several bars and just metres from the beach. To be honest, yes the hotel is a bit dated but who cares? Staff were very helpful. Shop, hairdressers, gym and disco bar on site. All inc. bars, yes its the cheap stuff but us from 10am til midnight. AND most importantly for me, i only got 1 mozzie bite all week and i think i got that at the airport!! Deffo going back. Thank you louis Colossos More
