Hotel Sirena

This is a fabulous little hotel that I would definitely use again and I met a number of guests who had come back for a repeat visit - or three or four - so I know that I am not alone I was in the hotel's only single room and found it more than ample for my needs. The room looks out from the side of the hotel, but the view was lovely - of the mountains opposite, the small beach below and the boat traffic at the nearby port. It was plenty big enough and I had more than enough space for my belongings - I used the luggage rack provided in the room to hold my suitcase, which I then used as storage for emergency items or those not in day to day use. I was amazed to find the room also had both a hair dryer and a safe. The hotel is in a fantastic location: close to the port for access to boats all over the lake; 10 minutes' walk to the castle; 10-15 minutes walk to the cable car; a few minutes from the lovely promenade that runs south of Malcesine; 5 minutes walk to a large supermarket, where you can pick up a picnic lunch, drinks or bits you forgot to pack; and within a few minutes of loads of cafes, bars and restaurants. There is a massive terrace at the back of the hotel, with loungers, umbrellas, tables and chairs. This never got full and is a lovely place to sit for hours, just watching the world (on the water) go by and enjoying the landscape. There is access into the water via a ladder and also steps to a small beach. The family who run the hotel are lovely and very accommodating, for example, opening the breakfast room early for me on the day I was going on a Tui trip that set off at 8am. Addressing some of the moans from other reviewers: Yes, you have to shut the cupboard door to open the bathroom door in this room - this presented no problems for me at all, as I don't need/want to leave cupboard doors open once I've got what I want out of them. Yes, there is only one socket, but this is behind the head of the bed, above a small (very handy shelf), so easily accessed - and why do you need more than one socket, anyway? I used mine for charging my phone and that was it. Yes, the bar shuts early, but the hotel is minutes away from dozens of cafes, bars and restaurants, so you are hardly going to go hungry or thirsty. No, there isn't that much storage, but get creative, why don't you? (see above). A lot of reviewers seem to have overlooked that this is a 2* hotel - however, as my caption says, it is definitely a lot, lot better than that. A solid 3.5* in my book!

Having booked this hotel through TUI online booking and read all the information before I booked I stayed in a loverly room with a lake view and balcony. The hotel itself is a gem. The towels were changed every two days and the room kept spotless by house keeping who came in everyday. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, breakfast is what you expect from an Italian hotel, rolls bread cheese and meats and plenty of coffee. I will definitely stay here again

We booked this property as part of a group celebrating a 25th Wedding Anniversary. Having used the TUI online booking service which turned into a nightmare (that's another story)! We were unable to upgrade the twin rooms booked as the hotelier and TUI made it impossible. Upon arrival the anniversary couple were put in a bedroom which i can only describe as a 'hostel' room. Two beds at either end of a very thin looking corridor. ROOM 14!!!!!! Definately not head to head? When we complained, both the hotel and TUI weren't interested so after a bit of room swapping between the party itself! we managed to get the celebrating couple into a TWIN room. The hotel itself is a two star, you get what you pay for so to speak. Yes it's in a prime location, right on the lake BUT with all the military like rules, plain breakfast and having to pay to get your towels changed, I'd probably advise going else where.
