Seaside Hotel Sandy Beach

This hotel to my mind is an avarage 3 star hotel at best! I have stayed in numerous hotels during my life and this hotel doesn't match what I know to be 4 star standard. Yes they offer a wide variety of food on the buffet, the majority of it during my stay was either luke warm or cold and that was as soon as the buffet was opened of an evening. It's a pity they don't offer a British buffet along with all the other ones they do offer! This is the first hotel 4 star hotel I have been to that I have had to complete a form to get coffee in my room all the hotels I have stayed in previously its placed in the room automatically along with bottled water. Yes the rooms are well maintained by the cleaners and the beds comfortable. I would suggest that you ask for an upper floor room as if your in a room over looking the outdoor restaurant your get the smell of food in your room.

we arived nine at night smooth quick check in straight to room missed resturant but light snacks left in room brill.food in hotel exellent so much choice pools good no problem with sunbeds room good the higher floor the better for veiws have stayed at seaside hotels before and staff and service very good at seaside well done another great holiday thankyou

We stayed at the Sandy Beach from 13-20 June and generally enjoyed our stay. We received a warm welcome, which continued throughout the whole of our stay. First impression was that our room was very nice - until nighttime arrived. We were situated on the 5th floor in a “superior “ room and we soon found out that the choice was not great- mainly due to the location being in the direct firing line of the entertainment and restaurant area. This would be ok if there was any kind of sound proofing - but you would think that the windows were wide open ! The food was varied and plentiful and was frequently replenished. This was even more pleasing as the dining times were very flexible and you never felt rushed. We sat inside the a la carte restaurant most evenings without complaint from the staff- in fact more and more people started to follow our lead. The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient - although sometimes a little too keen to take our “finished “ plates away. They weren’t rushing us out - just very observant and organised. Of course you had the sun lounger racers Bursting out of the traps for a prominent position- which was ridiculous- as there were plenty of beds and all in good positions. There was a lack of daytime entertainment, but that was a plus for us, due to our choice of a totally relaxing stay, which we got - sound proofing problem apart. We would certainly return to this hotel, only next time we would be more selective on room location and plump for a room on 8th or 9th floor. Allan Trotter South Shields
