Tivoli Marina Portimao

Had a lovely week at the Tivoli Marina. All staff were friendly and helpful especially reception. Room was clean, light and airy overlooking the pool. Bed was large and comfortable. Only downsides were hairdryer in the bathroom, the flex wasn't long enough to reach the mirror, also couldn't use mine in the bedroom as there was no socket near a mirror. Wardrobe was small so limited storage space. Other than that would certainly go back for a week.

Another great week at the Portimao Tivoli. Spotlessly clean, and great staff. The cleaners who work here are fantastic a true credit to the hotel. Breakfast is first class as usual and the view from the restaurant fabulous, whilst we were there the world class yacht, Celtic Spirit was moored outside. Would also like to mention the great service we got from Sergio and Milton in the evenings fabulous guys.

This is a very nice hotel we were in room 34 in marina sun rooms with a view over the marina and Ferragudo the room was spacious with a huge bed and a comfortable settee which was also sofa bed and a small kitchenette with coffee maker and kettle. There was also a small balcony . The walk down to the reception main pool and hotel restaurant takes about 5-10 mins depending on how fast you walk then on the other side of reception is the other side of the marina and about the same walk to other restaurants there were a few here but only 2 of them were open when we were here in November. There is a golf buggy that will take you to and from your room if you request it (dial 9 from your room or ask at reception) our block had the sun all day which was great as it was lovely and sunny through the day but it turned cold at night we noticed that the marina beach rooms didn’t get as much sun as they are situated at the top end of the marina and all the other rooms were side on but maybe it was just because it’s autumn and they would be ok in summer. If you come out of the front of the hotel and turn left you come to playa da rocha beach and a small roundabout there is a small and very basic mini market here and steps up to the main area of Praia da rocha I did manage to get up them but there are apparently 98 steps ! So it was hard going but if you are young and fit it should be no bother. If you go along side of the shop onto the board walk you will pass Atlantico restaurant and then just before senhora da rocha restaurant you will see a wooden path on your right leading to steps up to the strip and there are far less steps and much easier to climb. There are some lovely restaurants on the boardwalk and up in main area but quite a few were closed at this time of the year. We ordered a taxi to get us up here at night and it only costs 3-4 euros so saved the climb the taxi rank is next to hotel Jupiter when you want one back down as it only takes a few minutes. The breakfast was lovely at the hotel but my husband wasn’t keen on wee hot dog sausages and greasy bacon but we had some lovely omelettes and the wee bread rolls were superb I really liked the raisin bread ones as they also had nuts in them. The one and only gripe is why is there only one gate to get out of the garden in the sun rooms block? This is situated half way down so we came out of our room down the stairs and had to walk along then back again before the 5-10 min walk why is there no gate in the fence opposite the steps down ? It’s a long enough walk as it is! The marina deck rooms have 4 gates for the same length of rooms!!! We really enjoyed our stay here and would go back
