Royalton Riviera Cancun

Stayed at the Royalton while attending a wedding at the resort. We were a group of 50 people and it was a great experience right from the start. When checking in, I was offered an upgrade to the diamond club presidential suite. This in itself was quite amazing. The suite was massive, and very comfortable. It had a living room with a stocked bar, a separate bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a jacuzzi tub right in the center of the bathroom. Don't think I can go back to a regular room after experiencing the presidential suite. As part of diamond club, you can also partake of a butler service which definitely came in handy for booking dinner reservations or spa appointments. In addition to the private pool and beach areas for diamond club, as well as a couple of restaurants, members also were able to get a free hydrotherapy session at the spa daily. The spa was amazing! Hydrotherapy equipment that i haven't experienced at any spa before. There is a person that guides you from one station to the next and each station works on a different area of your body. Once all the stations are complete, the attendant gives you a quick head and shoulders massage to complete your relaxing session. This is definitely something to take advantage of. The food at the buffet as well as the other restaurants was pretty good. Had a good amount of flavour and always lots of variety. There were a few people in our group that did get sick but considering none of them ate at the same restaurants on the resort we determined that it may not have been the food, but may have actually been a symptom of heat stroke or maybe eating too much :) ... thought it was still important to call out though because out of the group of 50, about 7-8 people did get sick. Oddly enough the food ordered through room service was terrible. I would have assumed the same chef/kitchens were used for room service food as that used for the restaurants but there was a very clear quality difference in the room service food. The pools were great, very spacious and clean. Not sure if it was the temperature in Mexico that affected the temperature of the pool but would have liked it to be a bit cooler. When it's so hot outside, it's great to jump into a cold pool but none the less we still enjoyed the pools at this resort. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to go into the water at the beach but that was mostly because of the season, it's seaweed season and there was too much seaweed in the water. However, the resort did do a great job, of dragging the shore everyday to get rid of as much seaweed as possible. Considering the time of year I would have expected to have to deal with a lot of mosquitoes but I personally didn't see any. My room faced the back of the resort which had a bunch of trees/mangroves, but regardless of the time of day/night that I went out onto the balcony, I never had to deal with mosquitoes and this was the same no matter where on the resort I went. Never even used insect repellent. Lastly the staff were great to work with. Always friendly, always had a smile on their face and very accommodating. As, I mentioned, I attended a wedding here, and everything for the wedding went amazingly. I'm sure I have a lot more I can go on about, but all in all this resort was great.... my friends and I are in withdrawal from the great time we had there and can't wait to go back!

Stayed in May, checked in quickly. Just stayed in standard Royalton room,it was large and clean, shower was huge with 2 shower heads and seat, our cleaner Brenda looked after us really well. Weather was hot, a couple of showers. Lots of pools to choose from, unfortunately some big groups of Americans overtake them and forget about other people on holiday, they stand in the pool with drinks, shouting, put their own music on. Tried all the restaurants ok, our favourites were Grazia (Italian) Zen (just the regular tables) and Taj (Indian) there is plenty to eat throughout the day, the buffet has a lot of choice so you won't go hungry, also a coffee shop to get drinks and cakes/cookies and ice cream, Our only problem with dining was all the forks were blunt and knives had twisty handles so had to hold the knife very close to blade to cut and put food on fork (just a silly little odd moan), thought the entertainment was poor. Enjoyed lobby bar where it was cool and not so busy and sometimes we went to dips bar by pool as this was quiet, Jessica who worked here was lovely. All staff look after you well and are very polite and friendly. Been to Mexico 6 times now and found this hotel a bit too big for us and very noisy, could do with couple more bars dotted around the standard royalton end because sometimes they all get really busy. I wouldn't return here only because it was too big and noisier than other hotels we have stayed at, but the hotel is clean, lovely staff and good food.

We had long waited for this resort trip we tried to come two years ago and once the trip was booked we found out the resort has a out break in reviews about hand foot and mouth disease !!!! So we canceled the trip and went to Barcelo should have went back there Arrived Friday June 7th 19’ Our room periodically smells strong of sewer took three days into the trip to finally get our room cleaned now we’re on day two and can’t seem to get it cleaned yet again ! Yet we’ve requested every day after 10 am. A family of 6 needs to the room taken care of especially with a baby and diapers !!! Here is the big ONE ...The restaurants are all very warm AC is not cool our baby screams during every meal at every dining restaurant she gets so warm I’ve had to walk out with her and skip out on my meal The pools are nice the beach they do not scrape to keep clean AT ALL ! You expect when you pay so much money they would try to keep it from having mounds of seaweed!! Over all I wish we would have spent our money elsewhere for sure we won’t be back. Especially paying for a swim up suite. You expect more 2 more days to go in a dirty room
