Quick check in, cases arrived very quick to our room which was in block 2 not far from the lobby and restaurants. Room cleaned every day, fridge items replaced every other day. The staff at the place were excellent, they were a credit to the hotel. Pools were lovely only spent 2 days here as the beach was excellent, only had red flags for 2 days, mostly green and a couple of Amber. Lovely to see the turtle hatchery on the beach, went into Santa Maria a few times which we enjoyed.Deffinetly would recommend this hotel as looking at to going back ourselves. Once again thankyou for looking after us so well.More
Just returned from this wonderful hotel this was the 6th time I have been and will be back again next year .if u want a relaxing holiday this is the place to be just a 6 hour flight and all the benefits of going to the Caribbean the food and drink tops the only thing I would mention is the sun bed situation as u have people getting up at dawn to reserve loungers but that's not the hotels fault just people being selfish as half of them were not used all morning. The beach is brilliant although the sea can be dangerous for young children. Anyone thinking of going I say give it a try am sure u won't be disappointed.More

Hotel Rui Palace Cabo Verde Cape Verde FANTASTIC
Hotel Rui Palace Cabo Verde ...we were repeatedly told it was the best hotel on the island. It was excellent and we would definitely return and recommend. Read on for a more detailed review... Staff: impeccably smart, polite, friendly, helpful, accommodating, obliging and very attentive. Rooms: there are 520 rooms split into 5 clusters, our understanding is that all the rooms are the same therefore no upgrade available, refurbished in 2016, they are very clean and comfortable, a little on the small side, no bath but good sized shower, mini bar, spirits, water (replenished daily), tea and coffee making facilities, robes. Small balcony with 2 seats and a table. Some sea view rooms are available in clusters 4 and 5 with cluster 5 being closest to the beach. 2 Floors to the hotel Ground floor and 1st Floor.. Food and Drink: superb...fresh, cooked and seasoned to perfection and a huge choice, plenty to satisfy even the most fussy eaters. An international buffet every evening is available in the main dining room with no advance booking. The main restaurant is quite busy but well spaced out and it’s busy because the hotel is successful with a continually high occupancy, there is a reason for this so accept it as a positive! A choice of 4 other restaurants are available with table service however you can only book these a maximum of 2 days in advance with a choice of two sittings 7pm or 9pm and they get very booked up. A buffet lunch is available from the restaurant situated close to the pool, again wide choice and pretty good for all inclusive. There is a cafe in the main reception which opens at 10am and remains open all day, serves a fantastic selection of fresh coffee, filled croissants, sandwiches, biscuits and cakes. There is a cocktail bar in the main reception. Entertainment: situated in the Riu Fuanna next door which is a connecting hotel, a minutes walk through from the Riu Palace, the usual hotel style entertainment, quite fun, probably a little tacky at times, if it’s not your thing just don’t go and enjoy an after dinner drink or coffee in the bar! Beach: wow! A truly fantastic, white sandy beach stretching for miles, simply stunning, a warm turquoise blue sea with some incredibly large waves. If you like to watch White Sea horses this will be food for your eyes. Plenty of sun loungers and plenty of space, it is seriously windy which is fantastic if you like any related water sports and makes the temperature very comfortable providing you are ok with some wind, there are sheltered spots for those who don’t. it is a constant off shore wind so is less windy for women sunbathing on the beach and also the sand is a lovely soft but thick sand so as its slightly heavier the sand doesnt blow around all over the place. Kitesurfing: there is a kitesurfing station called Kite and Tonic situated right on the beach, they are new so not properly set up yet but a rescue service is available which is only charged for (about €30) should you need to be rescued. Kite Beach is a short taxi ride away and is a kite surfers paradise, the conditions are perfect for jumping and tricks. I am a keen kite surfer and can give you further info if you like. Pool: if you like to sit by a very busy pool, with sun loungers on top of each other and lots of noise and activity then you may enjoy this. If you prefer a quieter, more spacious and tranquil place to enjoy the sun this is definitely not for you, head to the beach! We avoided it completely as it looks like something out of Benidorm!!! Weather: it seems as though it’s consistently hot all year round, some cloud but even when it was a tad hazy still a good warmth and still an opportunity to tan through the cloud. A wonderful winter destination for UK people and having been to Egypt many times and for many years, Cape Verde is definitely warmer and has longer daytime sunshine hours IE 1 hour behind UK rather than 2 hrs infront in Egypt there longer days and warmer temperatures. Most days the temp was 30 degrees in December!!! and is a warm wind... the sea was a lovely temperature to and you could swim for agers without being cold... We sat outside for breakfast everyday in shorts and short sleeve polo tops and every evening before, during and after dinner in smart chinos and a short sleeve shirt and did not feel cold at any point. its nice to dress smartly on holiday but some of the guests were in dress down mode!!!! there were a lot of europeans, spanish, french, german, english, italian etc (I didnt notice any russians, eastern europeans or americans)More
Good RIU, staff is their strongpoint
Nice RIU hotel. Rooms are of good size, clean and well stocked. Mini bar gets a restock every other day, most of the time we got new bottled water daily. Food is good, but could be a bit more varied. Pool is nice, the negative point is people can put their towels on seats early so they reserve a pool chair. Very annoying when they decide to only show up around twelve. Beach is good, also the beach bar. There is a sea turtle nursery there where you can adopt a nest as well. We saw a couple of newborns there. Beach access closes at 6. Walk to Santa Maria along the beach takes about an hour. I highly recommend anyone to take the trip. The locals are really nice people. Spa services are over at Funana. Access is easy with your room card. Massage was excellent (try the Cape Verdian combination). Downside is smoking is allowed in the outside seating areas, also on parts of the poolside restaurant. Its gross and should be banned, no-one wants free cancer or heart disease.More
Lovely winter break
Our impressions of Cape Verde are great and we have recommended to family and friends to go there; specifically to this hotel. The hotel is really big, like it's own little village, it's modern, spotlessly clean and very well finished. Staff working on every aspect, there to greet you, cleaners in communal areas, no big queues at bars, gardeners tidying up - seemed well organised. The food was fantastic with an amazing buffet restaurant, the hotel really catered for everyone. My girlfriend is a very fussy eater but always had a full plate at breakfast, lunch and dinner time! My girlfriend and I were in Block 1 which was the closest to the main restaurant and reception; this meant we had to walk a bit to get to the pool and beach though which was about a 5 minute stroll. The room was huge and spotless - Maid service daily to clean rooms, change sheets and towels daily if you wanted. Bottles of water replaced in rooms daily too and beers/fizzy drinks every 2 days. The in room optics was a great edition too! And all free! The staff were so friendly and polite from the second we got there and the animation team were great; they really made all the difference. We travelled end of November; the weather was perfect, v hot with constant breeze and pools to cool off in. We went on an amazing island tour booked with Tony's tours on the beach (25 euros each and well worth it!) - an English speaking guide took us out all day on a jeep and it was unbelievable. 50 euros well spent! We went to various local sights, including the blue eye and the Buracona lava pools. We also paddled with baby lemon sharks, floated in salt lakes and saw desert mirages. I definitely recommend this tour as you get to see the whole island and was one of the best experiences I have done! The only cons I can think of with the hotel is that we always had to reserve a sunbed early if we wanted one that was in the sun - we got up at 7 one day and there were still about 20 towels out in all of the best spots. There are plenty of sunbeds but about half of them are constantly in the shade under palm trees. To sum up we had an amazing week of hot weather and would definitely return.More
